The achievements/numbers are good in the sense that we could all relax and luxuriate in comfort, if the ball didn’t need to keep rolling.
Already that set of achievements are disappearing in the rear view mirror.
The only reality is now and what we consider to be the direction of travel. Opinions on that will vary considerably and a quick squint on CQN points to the majority being happy, if beginning to fret a little.
To my view we are already £40 million behind due to failure of the club to handle AEK. The club, and I include Brendan, failed to do the job required. We knew the challenges we faced and the complexities around players playing World Cup games as we faced qualifiers. We knew we needed cover in key positions and should have reasonably anticipated big money offers for our star players.
So what is happening at the club?
At executive level, the Board will always have an eye on the market. Of course they should. However, it is clear they feel the need to build cash reserves for a rainy day, not to spend or speculate on improving our chances in Europe (Domestic dominance is assured…for now) Some capital provision/reserves make ok. Why would any football club need to horde £30m … and the rest?
This board translate their natural conservative inclinations into maintaining a thin veneer of a competitive domestic scene, to ensure the bread and butter revenue is maintained. They have manipulated the recent situation with Oldco and Sevco to ensure there remains an Old Firm brand. With a view to the revenue that brings. It’s as clear as day, that the dumbing down of Lenny’s team and appointment of Ronnie reflected their need to keep a lid on our runaway dominance whilst they awaited the slow return (sic) of the challenge from Ibrox.
It is transparent that the appointment of Brendan only happened when Sevco entered the top tier.
Why didn’t we use that 4 season period to really build a team capable of challenging in Europe? Why dumb down?
Why fail to speak out against all the institutional cheating and failue to follow basic fairplay principles. It is not acceptable to claim there is no support within the game for that open stance. When has there ever been support for Celtic within the game, other than by the faithful fans of the club? What the hell is going on that Celtic feel they cannot just call out the cheating? I for one would accept that in lieu of anything actually changing in the game or asterixed trophies. At least I will know my club are not complicit and still stand for some basic values.
The suspicion remains. Celtic board knew any sustained challenge by them on the SFA/Oldco/Sevco would have wrecked the domestic model and they feel the need to stay cosy within that model. Content with having ‘turns about’ at success and a share of the financial spoils.
Domestically, there is money to be made and they know it. Always have.
They understand the need to ‘groan’ for a few years in exchange for the opportunity to get on top and ‘grunt’ their way to trophies and revenues. It’s a version of the STV Saturday teatime in 70/80’s wrestling model we all knew was fixed, but accepted as it was just light entertainment. Sadly, It’s now part of our game and our directors are willing partners.
There is no coherent plan to be succesful in Europe! A few CL qualifications and that is it. Trouser the dosh and pay tax on the profit. Tax paid that could have furnished a right back or a CH or a 4th striker … whatever?
There is zero European ambition at Celtic now.
The manager- you have to love Brendan’s love of Celtic. It is tangible. Winning 2 trebles on the bounce is historic and will rightly be remembered. Then again, what was the competition doing? By any measure, outside of domestic performance, the challengers were being ritually humped in the few European ties they played. That is the sad truth. With he size of squad and wage bill ( close to £60m) what can we really expect form wise from his team? Are we seeing it? I don’t think so, and anyone worried about losing Brendan to a top club should relax. One glance at the recent European record will cause any potential suitor to baulk. Why is our team being wiped out at home on Euro nights? The scars from those drubbings will run deep for a long time and it was mainly due to poor tactical decisions by Brendan.
Seriously, qualifying for CL twice in a row is just acceptable performance, it is not exceptional. The achievements of Gordon and Neil in Eurooe surpass anything Brendan has achieved ..to date… as hope remains that Brendan can fix it. Unfortunately, that hope is diminishing after each outing.
Right now the fitba is dire and has been since last season. One- dimentional and tedious. With a few sparks of wonder…
The fans: clearly the overwhelming majority of fans wanted Sevco back in the mix. Any regular trouncing experienced by the hordes that follow whatever team currently plays out of Ibrox is welcome. I freely admit to savouring their pain. Nevertheless, when the headaches wear off, that dull sense of realisation remains. The cheating continues unrestrained. Still the blatant manipulation of fairplay rules and lack of consistency in application of rules and penalties for breaches by Sevco goes on unchallenged.
Still the Celtic fans are turning up at SFA games and pouring cash into their coffers. Paying the hand that smites them.
I fear we will only begin to mobilise when Sevco have cheated their way to a trophy at our expense. Then it will all be too late.
Right now it seems nothing will ever happen to punish The cheats. The res12 bhoys are still hopeful, but sense the general feeling is that the club they love has failed to back them properly.
Words instead of actions.
To focus the attention of other clubs and their fans, I would urge all Celtic fans to consider witholding ticket money for Scottish Cup and League Cup matches…home and away.
I would ask the club to withdraw from those competitions, but accept lucrative sponsorship deals probably prevent that. Sigh!
If Celts reach Hampden – don’t go!
Send out a clear and vital message, we will not accept the cheating!
If after two full seasons change doesn’t come, at least we can look in the mirror, and at our children and grandchildren, and honestly say we tried.
Saltires en Sevilla,
Thanks again for your excellent post. If I may,,,

You come close to hitting the nail on the head for many people. Theres the action of both clubs , the governing bodies, and other clubs to be scrutinised . Then as fans we must decide did / do their action convince me to stay engaged .
As far as no support within the game goes heres my take.
Without being on the inside I cant know but we judge from what we see and hear . It does seem as if we have little to no friends inside the domestic governing set ups.
This lead to questions such as why not ? Why not after being the top dog at the biggest earner have we no friends ? Been there long enough to make them ?Grab a cold hearted businessman and tell him those rough facts and no doubt he will say you backed the wrong horse . Need a new dog in the fight.
Whether its ego , masonic influence , religion , historical dislike , pressure from somewhere we will never know but if it hasnt worked by now its not going to,,send someone new in, a new style eh ? And the blogs he got onside , why not leak to those blogs whats going on?
“ The Faithful Fans of the Club “ How right you are, the fans were faithful the club hasnt been as pure though. I do remember reading on Cqn about the governing bodies plotting to introduce gate sharing and that it was a way to chop us off at the knees or share the last remaining cash cow if you prefer , perhaps you will recall. Paul was livid and was announcing the threat of banding together with the intentions of boycott should it seem to be coming about. There was a threat of a boycott based on money.
There has been a mountain of cheating yet no threat of a boycott. Surely boycotting for cheating is more preferrable than boycotting for money. Its funny which one got backed isnt it.
Anyway that threat of using the fans,,,the blogs united behind the same cause and date could do a hell of a lot of damage , given a bit of time to build up a boycott . If the bigger supporters groups joined that would help. I have yet to hear of those intentions. I doubt we will as divide and conquer would be easy for those against it.
Celtic calling out the cheating. To many this is at the core of it. As long as they try , right ? They have gave statements in fairness and did call for a review so they have made the appearance at least . I believe RES12 will answer this after all actions speak louder than words. Back Res12 and yeah they are calling out the cheating. We hear it aint happening though so I believe we can put this one to bed. Answer,,,a wee bit but when it comes down to it , nah.
Accept a call out in lieu of asterisks,,,I would accept action not words. Just a statement no.
Still stand for some basic values,,,its the lack of such made me walk and Lord knows how many others. Forget even the cheating just look at examples like Ajax home and away , kettled , crushed , blinded . I sat for years waiting on the club standing up like JR promised and went it felt like we were being attacked and cheated by all and sundry what statement did I get ,,, its 49 quid folks but we stand alone and dont need them and there is no Old Firm . Scunnered and disgusted that was the start of the end for me. They dont stand up for our basic values . That more than anything sticks in my craw. And its one of the biggest reasons why this shower should go and we should be helping along.

SALTIRES EN SEVILLA crackin post, do you think res 12 is dead .where do we go from here wish I knew the answer.hh.
BIG PACKY
Perhaps one of our Four Musketeers will feel free to tell all on these pages, before or after the AGM. As long as it is neither libellous nor threatening,it will be published.
SALTIRESENSEVILLA
Brilliant stuff, old son. I hope you are currently working on the difficult “second album”!
Mahe – like you I would want something more than * but maybe just scunnered into now accepting crumbs of comfort by way of our club speaking out forcibly. Once and for all.
Garry – thanks -sounds like a hearty brekkie buddy ?
Packy- cheers. I still have some hope that Res12 has legs. The guys feel it’s still going strong but from the outside looking in it seems that they are doing all the graft and the club are making them empty promises. Hope I’m wrong, but my gut feeling is it’s gone. The Res12 guys deserve total respect for everything they have achieved.
Majoc – Cheers- I hope the guys can come onto all the Celtic blogs one day and show us the result they, and we, have hoped for. We will have joy… they will have joy and satisfaction. They will have earned it!

Not doubting the sincerity of this serious piece, however I cannot support all of the assertions it makes.
There is now a trend in the sphere of social media, in all subjects, whereby ‘lay people’ purport to know more than those who are deeply involved in situations & organisations.
Much of this ‘font of all ‘knowledge’ is portrayed as the gospel truth without a shred of hard evidence and is cobbled together after the event to fit an agenda.
Having said that, it would be foolish to say that all is ‘hunky dory’ at the moment at Celtic Park – however after two seasons of almost unparalleled success, there was bound to be some realignment – DD, PL, Board, Manager and Players are human beings after all.
I am sure of one thing however, there are no Machiavellian influences anywhere with Celtic Park designed to do harm to the club.
I believe that after a slow start, we will be clicking soon and get back on track. Yes we are missing something at the moment, not least £40 million of talent in Dembele, Roberts, Armstrong.
Nonetheless we have a lot of fresh talent ready to make their mark in the squad in the coming months- Johnstone, Arzani, Morgan, Benkovic & Malumbu.
Finally, I must admit to shedding a few tears at the end of the Tommy Burns tribute on Alba – what a guy and what a family. HH
Gold
Despite your snide attack on me previously here, I would like to engage with you. I believe there are Machiavellian Masonic forces at work within our club today. What makes you think there isn’t?

I feel the same.
I have supported the club since I can remember, well over 50 years anyways, yet I feel so far removed from it today, I always said that the biggest losers in the hun debacle would be us.
I am not paranoid any more, they cheated, they got caught cheating, FACT, so what happens they carry on cheating with impunity, the mind boggles.

Things to do and no time to do them, as an aside I went on that new blog The Celtic Noise, not my cup of T, noticed someone calling themselfs TET, defo not this TET.
Garry , last night a turkish kebab and then rolls and skwerr today. Ohh youre a bad bhoy ! I must admit I was a sausage roll or fry with black and white pudding man myself. I have discovered theres a store that sells the Irish bacon and black pudding in San Fran . Its a couple hours away , traffic sucks , toll bridge on way but its killing me knowing its within range . Been over a year now my last bit of puddin. Might place an ad for someone driving there to pick it up for me. But then again try asking a stranger to pick up a ” package ” these days. Up waay too early again.
Hail Hail
Gold – you make your points well and cause me to rethink my style of writing and please be reassured that I don’t claim to be an expert, in any field.
You appreciate the comments I made are reaching, a lot, and joining up dots that may not exist. Overall, that is maybe due to the lack of quality information from Board to fans and a perceived lack of action, that creates for me a strong sense that there is a reluctance by Board to engage properly with fans or understand frustrations.
They seem content to play safe and that is the thrust/main gripe.
I really doubt anyone on Board is actually trying to harm Celtic, and I hope that did not come across at all. I feel strongly that opportunities are being missed due to inertia and a sense of contentment with their role/place.
I don’t apologise for suggesting they are there to make profit for themselves, and I’m sure you won’t deny that?
Apologies if my tone comes across as being ‘font of all knowledge’ – just one guy rambling from the heart.
No offence intended buddy and HH
At the game on Thursday I thought of Stuart Armstrong. We have no player like him. Big miss
your right garry he used to drive into the box which gave us a different dimension, and a few goals.hh.
TET
Thanks buddy, hope all well in the cave ?
Noticed TET on there and wondered …
HH
Certainly no offence intended – you are entitled to your opinion.
I agree 100% with you that “opportunities have been missed” – we probably see the reasons differently.
I did not mean to be ungracious to you by using the phrase “font of all knowledge” – it was a general term and not specifically aim at you.
One thing I am sure we can all agree on is that in the modern game if your favoured club is not well run financially there is little chance of putting a decent team on the park.
On your point of “making profit for themselves”, most of the board take no remuneration whatsoever – Dermot is a serious investor and is entitled to a return, as was Fergus – both put large amounts of money where their months were.
The much-maligned (by a small minority) Peter Lawwell is leading the club in its second most successful football spell in its history and has made Celtic the most financially successful club ever in Scottish football.
Surely he deserves to be rewarded on the same level as some of the players who have been brought to the club due to his stewardship – sure he can have an off day just like some of our well-rewarded manager & players.
Cheers & HH
My apathy intensifies.
Some posts below on another certain web site from summer of 2013 in the same “rich vein of form”
Nothing has changed in 5 years. Same issues. Celtic PLC corruption, PL transfer veto power, Throwing the managers under the bus, hun loving criminals …etc etc. I’ve heard and seen enough. These posts were BEFORE res 12. I have more.

By then the survival of Celtic will depend on the bigot buck from the likes of you just like it does hunnery. I want no part of the donuts cynical Old Firm exploitation of tims.
To me Celtic are better than that and when I say Celtic I mean the club, the team, the supporters, the history etc and not this shower of Philistines who are the current custodians.
=======================================================================================
I think we as Celtic supporters have to admit that the current custodians of our
beloved club are in it for the bigot buck.
1. Not a peep about the biggest scandal in our National Football associations history
2. Banning the GB on that day of all days.
3. No vision in Europe
4. Cant wait for the new firm.
Safety concerns? Asbestosbrox ? Double standards?
==============================================================================================
or maybe P***** can organize a charity golf bash to Dumfries stopping off at Brother
Walfrid’s grave and have a charity pull for cash while our current executive custodians grow
obscenely fat on working class dosh. That would be fun.

Shop windowing EPL fodder
Nice turnover
last 16 in Europe if yer lucky
Wait and see what the huns are daein?

Mags,
And in another 5 years you can post todays blog !
People dont like change it seems. Notice the asbestos link above . Been thinking of how to get the safety aspect of their stadium scrutinized . Suggestions welcome . I do think a well presented headed letter asking to schedule a safety inspection on behalf of our ” client ” will start the ” campaign ” ! That the survey firm is question does not exist is not important, its the heart attacks until discovered that may be to our advantage. Might make them think
.Thousand cuts and all that. 🙂
Mahe
Well on one side:

Football is now just brand management.
To believe that Celtic PLC have anything to do with Irish roots, socialism, charity, helping the poor is like believing Heinz baked Beanz are in the fartz business.
Doesnt matter what happened to Rangers in 2012. (In that article notice than Rangers were even allowed a vote. I forgot about that)
Celtic, BMW, Heinz, Levis, Apple, Disney, EPL, ManU,Rangers etc .
All of them always were always will be including Rangers.
Stole a billion pounds and were liquidated. Does not mean a thing. It’s still Rangers that’s playing out of the Eboladrome.
I’ll give you another good example.
Volvo cars are famous.
Famous safety brand that Volvo cultivated on genuine technical superiority.
Many people still buy Volvo cars because of its history, reputation and fame.
Volvo have not made a car in over 20 years.
The clearest and most concise article at the time – of course it mattered not a jot as the occupants of Ibrox and the SFA/SPFL just make up a narrative as they go along.
Isn’t funny that if three-nil victories were awarded to the opposition in every match where registrations were invalid, Rangers FC would have been relegated multiple times.
I have not given up hope that the record books will be corrected and the cheated titles & cups stripped. There just maybe an unknown ‘unknown’ out there that will bring this about in the fullness of time.
and Ayr Utd would have won a league cup.:)
mags more power to your elbow, we have been stitched up for decades, methinks celtic like the bigot pound.hh.
Wow,big fella. If you missed anyone there,I’d be surprised.
Stunning
I fully understand the desire to keep them going, stripping them of what they won by cheating should be the minimum, an * against all the cheating trinkets they won would be a start, sadly never gonna happen, if it did happen it would probable galvanise the huns even more.
As even ££££ are what it’s down to, eff the game, just gimme your money
TET,I fu….g don’t. Not at all.
Their existence is only as a rival. Like, say,Hearts or Kilmarnock. We’ve battered both of them out the park, and everyone else. But let’s allow the huns to cheat, and we will say eff all about it?
They’re not our rivals, bud. They’re a buncha cheating b’s who have got away with it for too long. It’s way beyond time that our superhero superpaid executives earned their corn.
Frankly, they are a bunch of cowards. And that is me being polite.
I said I understood the desire to keep them going, they pump £millions in to game every year, the desire to keep the money going in is what I understand, come what may they are our rivals, our historic rivals, it’s as plain as day, they are the huns that had an hicup and now it’s sorted.
If you can convince me they are not, you will have done what no other person has.
I should have said, the majority of Celtic supporters see them as the huns, it’s only a small section that don’t, I know they were liquidated et all, didny make a jot of difference, did it !!!
Obviously I want the cheating called out, but we both know that’s as likely as the huns accepting they cheated, holding their hands up and apologising.
do you think if it was any other league in the world that situation would have been tolerated, no the masonic and orange fluteplayers rule the roost, been like that when I was born in 1953 and before ,rather sad really the country I was born in means nothing to me now.hh.

No-one would expect 100% agreement, the site isn’t called Pravda. Or Isvetsia,as I recall. Mahe set it up as a complementary site to the others,no comment to be deleted.
Everyone’s opinion matters, and is valued. And to be discussed and dissected. If your opinions are slightly different from others on here, well, keep explaining why. Others will refute your reasoning, and also explain why.
That’s the plan. A vehicle for Celtic supporters to explain their reasoning on what they think is happening with our club, and suggest a Plan B.
It isn’t anti-board,it isn’t anti-PL. it is pro-Celtic. And a number of people want to know why these things seem to be incompatible.
Btw,time you gave us another article. And attendance on Nov 10 would be a real delight.
HH
Jim,
That is the most relevant and important post you have made here and elsewhere since you started. No offence, dogs, weather, aye nice bloke, aye we get that.
F…..g great post. And bang on. They rule the roost, and for all our victories, they are worthless. They still rule the roost, and always will while our representatives allow that to be the case.
Which,from past experience,they always will.
Who do you despise more-the huns,or the appeasers?
thanks bobby ffs im shit at posting, but from a great poster like you im gonna savour it hh.
That’s me just realised who you are?doh
If they had showed any contrition it might have made a difference
If they did they wouldn’t be huns, would they 🙂
fairhill bhoy nice to see you posting, and a big hail hail.
Can’t argue with that?
My Dad’s sister married into a family of Ayr ST holders,c1971. His Mum’s side were knee deep in ST holders. Including his cousin,Margaret. She attended the games accompanied by a lemonade crate. At 4’9″,it was the only way she could see the game. Refused point blank to watch from the posh seats.
My Uncle Billy-the husband-used to take me to Ayr home games when I couldn’t get to Celtic games,I was in the Ayr end when Johnny Doyle was sent off THAT day. See when people accuse me of entitlement-it’s Celtic, they SHOULD be achieving-I think about my Ayr family,or my Swindon friends.
And yes,I’m grateful for the pleasure that has largely been denied to them,my friends and family who have the balls to support-in every way-a diddy team.
But I’ll never forgive the cowards who stole titles and trophies from us-like we will miss the odd one or two?!-or the Scottish Cup from my Uncle Billy,Margaret,Tommy,et al.
That’s what you live for when you support a “diddy” team. And to be robbed, wow.
Been posting from the start ,though not a lot.
Cheers.HH
