Let the people travel in peace

Good morning troops.
Theres a plethora of juicy topics just happened to pop up since the last time I tickled the keyboard for the world wide web , so much so that its hard to know where to focus.

I could start with the jaw dropping fact that over the weekend an old friend of ours was called the best piece of transfer business in Europe this year.
I swear its true but Teemu Pukki was referred to as such by the Times as his free transfer to Norwich will probably result in them gaining 100m next year for promotion by way of his goals , 23 so far .
Quite how the timid little lamb that couldnt settle at all up north is producing this form is perplexing , and tbh they will struggle to hold onto him at this rate , whereas once I thought we would struggle to get rid of him !
I shall mark Pukki under an X file.

We could also dissect another of our old bhoys showing last week he ( still ) doesnt take no shit despite the salt and pepper up top. He conquered many an Old Firm but in the Old Farm derby Paul Lambert blew it after a tackle on one of his players ,, straight into the opposition dug out and starting the finger in chest which lead to a blow up and cops getting involved ffs !
It continued into the tunnel area afterwards and now he has stated clearly he doesnt regret it !
I loved him as a player and had high hopes he would make a good manager and come back for a long spell in the dug out . Not sure its gonna happen but its nice to see hes plying the trade somewhere . Read the game very well did our former skipper and if he can pass on what he knows players can only benefit.

A crazy but true stat complied last week looked at every European team to see who was the form team of the entire continent .
That Bristol City are statistically the most on song team going at the minute is worthy of at minimum a raised eyebrow and at maximum some solid praise for their gaffer and ex Killie player Lee Johnson ( 37 ) who already has a Jose scalp under his belt at that tender age , not to mention glowing praise from Pep.
Us watchers of the game will surely be hearing a lot more of his name if the start of his career is anything to go by . Premiership clubs rarely give chances to those who have not either performed at that level before or the equivalent league abroad .
Lee doesnt tick either of those boxes , lets watch and see if any will think outside the box a bit .
Coincidently Brentford are considered to be playing the best football in the entire football league under another young gaffer( 45 ) . Seems theres a lot of new or newish managers entering the game recently . Just vacancies opening up naturally or are younger managers a trend ?
One who I think I can state with a fair degree of confidence wont be long in the position is Paul Scholes who has taken the reins at his beloved Oldham because he needs a challenge ( not because hes actually good at it or believes he has the making of a good gaffer ).
Hes a poor communicator who was a great player , a fabulous player actually , though was overshadowed by the Irishman that played alongside him . If he had any gumption about him his ex team mate Ole would have drafted him in , or maybe Keano himself would put a word into Martin if he was deemed a talent . Couple months I give him .

Speaking of clubs giving chances the rags down south have the new manager of Leicester ( when not if yer man gets bagged ) as a straight shootout between Brendan and Rafa ,, two characters I admire .
The logic is both have proven themselves at that level before , and what the Foxes desire more than anything is a few years of stability following what has been one hell of a spell on and off the pitch for that club . I can see , and approve , of the thinking behind that logic .
However if Rafa is interested ( and how could he not be after years of fighting with the owner for much needed funds ) was a superior resume he should get the job before Brendan ,, thats good news to any Tim. Its one I will be watching develop is the new gaffer down there.

The good old trusty Sphell thats bent but never boring could keep us going for weeks with the latest shenanigans. Two different names have came out and spilled the best wee countrys secret , that its racist/sectarian at heart .
Stevie Clarke has been particularly honest and open about just what exactly its like , which is usually a sign that youre about to hit the road.
“ Theyre not allowed to call my assistant a black bastard but they can call me a Fenian bastard .
What are we doing in Scotland ? I wake up every morning and I thank Chelsea for taking me away from the west . “
Killie may well have had a decent game at Ibrox if their penalty call 30 seconds in was given but we all know who exactly gets the penalties there.
There is some media coverage today following these comments but as usual the media will go into deflect mode , and that deflection has just went and fallen into their lazy slimy laps.

The big story today for any bhoy or ghirl is clearly the terrible scenes and stories coming out of Valencia where the police plastic bulleted and attacked the faithful .
Any and all videos out there at the time of writing do not have a single misdemeanor from any Hoops supporter , they all clearly show us as the victims of aggression .
Rumours as to why this is include revenge for a Rangers bar in Benidorm getting torched , and our well known sympathies to our Catalonian brothers and sisters preceding us .
How either of these end up with innocents shot at is beyond me , and most normal societies last time I checked .
As you all know we happen to have our own eyes and ears on the ground there , and will be receiving first hand accounts very soon of those shameful scenes. The truth will be told .
As for the Plc , they arent fond of statements as we know but they simply must respond in some way here . Once again , just like Amsterdam , the fans known for having a party and good time get attacked . For nothing .
Questions that jump out at me include did the local police commander give any indication why his men were on alert , in riot gear , issued with plastic bullets ?
Was he aware that he would face many more travellers than tickets ? Is this what upset him ?
Is there video justification for his forces actions ?

Some of those scenes were effing shameful and today could well bring a repeat.
Who would be a football fan these days ,, told to go back to Ireland when youre playing at home and battered for being Tims when youre away ! Never mind the bent refs ffs !
And to top it all off there will be probably be empty seats galore inside the Mestalla while thousands cannae buy a ticket .
Hopefully one day someone will come along and fix this football lark , it certainly needs it now more than ever .
Stay safe lads , youre all far more precious than a win.

Why not write for the site ? Its free and its therapeutic ,, might get a couple free pints out of it someday and all ! sentinelcelts@gmail.com

HI MAHE, plenty of topics to discuss there, id like to focus on a couple of things the cheating, they are not even trying to hide it now,for any of you who haven’t seen the sending off please find a clip somewhere, im convinced mr muir has got king billy tatoos somewhere on his body, the sheer hatred of steve Clarke because of his religion, as he says himself are we back in the dark ages ,ive got news for him, they never left the west of Scotland ask bobby and cosy corner bhoy, finally to all tims out there in Valencia stay safe.HH.

We’ve not seen a hint of violence or tension, although the bar where the incidents occurred is the one which charged me €5 for a Guinness on Tuesday. There were a couple of lairy sods in it at the time, but plastic bullets might be viewed as OTT.

Some of the people we have met have had a result with tickets, most haven’t. We are still hopeful, but the confidence level is slowly reducing. Still a long way from despair,we have been closer to K-O time and still succeeded.

Fingers toes and eyes crossed as usual!

According to Spanish media it was Celtic fans who torched the hun bar in Benidorm and this is the reason the polis have been heavy handed, their attitude is to nip things in the bud before it escalates, a bunch of Celtic fans were thrown off a train not far from Valencia for being pissed, singing and disturbing the other passengers, they refused to move so they could all be together so they were kicked off at Albacete.
I have not read anything about any bother in Valencia itself.
Take care there.
Off to Granada.

Yes,I heard similar. More likely he did it himself for the insurance money, and when I say that,I don’t mean it as suggesting that is what happened, merely as pointing out the unlikelihood of us torching a pub in Benidorm.

We don’t torch them in Blackpool,The Bristol is still standing,so why Benidorm? And what has a bar in Benidorm got to do with us in Valencia?

Load of nonsense,an excuse for targeting us IMO. No matter how lairy some lads were on Tuesday-and there was no hint of violence from them btw-the use of baton rounds is an obscenity.

We have all had a great time so far,the people and the city are fantastic. But there’s no doubt that word has been sent down to unofficially obstruct us as a group. A nod is as good as a wink, etc.

For instance,if you try to use a UK passport as ID,you have no chance of a ticket. Approach the same desk dressed to the nines in Celtic FC apparel and offer an Irish,US or Australian passport, you’re in.

And no,I’m not making that up.

My kid sis and I have been discussing this for a good while now. I intend to write an article on it ASAP,but I’m short of some required info to back up one or two of the main points.

Our fans calling Boyd a sad OB on Sunday, and of course the rush to highlight it by the SMSM,have provided equivalency, the two cheeks of the same arse argument that is always thrown at us.

Are our arses a tiny minority while theirs are universal? Well, aye of course. But God only gave us one arse because that’s all you need, and that one arse is enough to crap all over our reputation.

I am sure it is a UEFA rule that the home team are forbidden from selling tickets to residents of opposition team’s country.

After Amsterdam i was suspicious that the behavior of the Dutch police had to have been fueled by something.
The recent court cases prove the violence was perpetrated by the police themselves.
I suspect police Scotland had a hand in this with the information they gave the Dutch on Celtic supporters.
And subsequent events in Spain are further adding to my suspicion.

“I bumped into you last night. Drunk and blowing up cars besides of annoying the neighborhood. Who had to call Police. Valencia is not Ibiza, you radical supporters were gangs.” Says a local chick.
But then
“Funny how there is tweets from locals in Valencia who have said the police or so called police where in the wrong but hey don’t let facts get in the way of ur blowing up cars pish”
“Really sorry to hear that those pesky fans have been blowing up cars in the streets of Valencia, seems a bit excessive and not seen any pics/ videos of this but guess i will just need to take your word for it ?”
” You’d better provide your evidence before you accuse a group of people groundlessly. This is the basic rule of proper accusation.”

It’s almost as if there is an agenda to take down this great group of fans .
Thankfully today I haven’t read any fresh reports of violence but it’s disturbing that in 15 years the travelling fans have went from awards to attacked.
One simply must wonder why ? Or who ?
Would love nothing better than to stuff their team after those videos.
Hail Hail

Sol Kitts ate you around? I have a question for you. The stats on games show fouls commited and fouls won by each team. One would think that fouls commited by one team would equal tge fouls won by the other. Sometimes that is not true. Is it an error or is it possible?

Sol Kitts ,, if you do happen to be answering questions
Surely a ref in for instance Poland or Belgium doesn’t get that much dosh per game or even per year so if we do go down the foreign route it wouldn’t cost much more to the top flights administration?

Great news! Enjoy your trip. What a great gift and what a great family!

When I turned 70, one son gave me a ball signed by the Celtic team. Another travelled to Malaga to surprise me on my holiday there. Great memories, enjoy yours!

I have always found the Spanish very friendly and helpful. I have been in Barcelona(ok, Catalan!), Port Bou, Malaga and always encountered friendliness.

Even in Port Bou when I was 18 it was friendly under difficult circumstances. Port Bou is on the border between Spain and France, and is on the Costa Brava. One day I went for a swim and decided to challenge myself by swimming to a rocky outcrop, North of the town. It turned out to be harder than I thought and I just made it by the skin of my teeth. I was exhausted and knew that I could not swim back, so I decided to climb the cliffs and walk back. I emerged about half way between two border posts, one in Spain, the other in France. Both sets of guards saw me and raised their weapons at me. I ducked back over the cliff and worked my way along back into Spain. The guards were waiting for me and immediately two of them shoved machine guns in my back and frog marched me into the town to the police office. The safety catches were off the weapons and the guards looked really mean. I thought, this is it! What will my father say when he learns I died in this stupid way! The officer in the police office was kindness itself after finding out that I was staying in the town. They marched me over to the pensione where I was staying and interviewed my mate and the hotel manager. After that, I got a warning and the news that there was a lot of drug smuggling in the locale and they suspected it was happening from the route I had taken.

Later in a bar in the town, I met the officer and bought him a drink and we had a good laugh about it all! They were good people and could have made life really difficult for me. However, I still remember one of the guards and what it felt like to have a gun poked into your ribs.

I guess I shouldnt generalize about the whole country and its people. In the 3 times I was there I found them generally uncooperative and unfriendly.

I have only been to Spain once (Barcelona, actually). loved the city and I really liked the locals there … unfortunately, I was there for the Feast of St. Joan … if it was just the locals, it would have been great ….everyo0ne on the street, bands, dancing …. but too many Brits there, most of whom were blootered, and seemed to be looking for trouble.

Delighted yous got tickets, hope you enjoy.
Spain is like any other country, avoid the tourist places and the folks are superb, went to the hospital in Granada today and forgot to take the wifes medical card, a no no as you can’t register, they couldn’t have been more helpful, I just acted stupid, no that difficult and they bent over backwards, so much so the Q was jumped by about an hour, as for the costas, wouldn’t go near them for a pension, they are full of brits and arseholes..

Just in from watching the game. First up a big thanks to one Malloy and his wife for their generosity to my dad and brother. Outstanding and true Celtic supporters. As for the game. I thought the bhoys did us prod. We messed up the first leg and never gave ourselves a chance. We will though give ourselves a better chance when we sign a proper centre forward. Burke is so fast he could catch pigeons but his runs and touch are of a 10 year old. That he is getting picked in front of Edouard says a lot about the application of Edouard. He needs to give more and stop with the strolling around. When he and Ntcham choose to play they are unstoppable in our league but seriously, how often have we seen it. Maybe a gripe for another time and once again we’ll done bhoys for tonight.

Delighted your Da and Mick got tickets for the game, I’m sure they were happy enough with the outcome.
I reckon we will get rid of the French lads if we can, Oly will be easy enough but Odsonne will be harder if Pedro wants to cash in, we never paid £9 mill, half of that would be my guess with add ons.

I am hearing from 3 different sources that the Spanish cops in Valencia have been pummeling Tims before during and after the game.
Not to worry I am sure the Celtic PLC will issue some sort of condemnation.
