Face Value continued,,,

It’s been a week since I blogged and nothing much has changed, it’s more of the same and we can still only take things at face value as that’s all we have to go on.

We still don’t have a RB, we have signed an Israeli but he is a CB, back up I assume, but as I and no doubt most of us haven’t seen him play, he may well end up being a very decent player.

What has happened and it could be significant is that Stewart Robinson from the huns has along with Les Grey from Hamilton joined the SPFL board and Pedro has vacated his seat, nothing like getting the huns back into positions of power and here’s me thinking that the game was due a clear out, reminder to self, keep taking the naivety medicine as it really does affect how you think about things.

The huns also got a spanking in the court again, you won’t be surprised to learn that the court was down south, they are a wee bit fairer down there when it comes to the huns-unlike in scotland where they seem to be able to ride roughshod through the judicial system. Amazing what the handshake can take care of when needs be.

What does it mean for them? Probably not that much in reality, they are limping along from month to month but they still manage to buy players that they can’t afford, they still cheat and lie, so it’s as you were then. Still, the banter is good, so as I really don’t want to bore you all by repeating myself with the big bad board are a waste of space. I thought that we could have a wee bit of light relief and have a laugh at the huns, as I said they took a spanking in the court this week and things are getting desperate money wise for them. They will be having a fire sale I would imagine as it’s their only assets that can legally generate income for them. Kyle Lafferty has been mutually consented today, a few bob every week off the wage bill, but at what cost-a few hundred grand me thinks.

Billy really does work in mysterious ways so he does, but never fear, there are quite a few enterprising huns out there, they will do what ever it takes to keep pumping money into the glibbys pot without any thought as to why they need to,just because they have been told to. Is there a more deluded support on the planet? I doubt it, they will swallow swallow anything that they are told to, the default though is it’s always Timmy to blame.

So back to the enterprising huns, none more so that this bear, he really should be working in marketing with ideas like these…….

” What can we do to generate income for the club……….

A Rangers branded beer, which if tasted decent it would sell for fun……..
Have a big bouncy castle outside Ibrox and charge the kids £2 to do the bouncy with Broxi bear for a minute……
Have a paintball zone near Ibrox, only Red White and Blue paint is allowed, teams of 30 v 30 and charge a good few quid……
Charge fans to loan a walkie talkie for the match so they can contact the UB or BO to start a song of their choice, Radio in your favorite song, eg Fan in club deck: Barcelona 1972 do you copy. UB Commander: Copy fellow bears lets get this going…………
Blue cheese pizza – A bit different from normal pies and burgers……
Half time sprint, 40 fans run the length of the pitch, Fans can bet on the winner, Good cash for the club ”

Now with enterprising supporters like these why are they in financial shit you have to ask yourself, they could make wheans of money so they could. Still there is nothing but nothing that will top their T-Bear in the park extravaganza, it’s pure genius, why oh why have we not thought of this….it goes something like this and please trust me it has not been Awe Nawed, neither has the above money making ideas…….

Massive Rangers Summer Festival

Mates and I were discussing having a major cultural event in Scotland akin to T in the park, in response to the demands to put the loyal order off the road etc, an experience of Britishness or an all round party for our culture. Some of the figures ( most of which would have been reinvested back into cultural activities ) were immense.
If you think about an event for Rangers. It would be amazing to be at, and the flags, banners and sheer brotherhood would be an amazing boost to our culture and the ” holiday of a lifetime ” It could also in one fell swoop, wipe out Rangers debt and put us in a sound financial footing.
A camping festival on a large area of open land with stages and marquees etc, Rangers themed bar owners could run the licencing arrangements and also make money. True blue artists could play their music from the stages, and guest speakers could fill marquees, plays could be put on etc, Our culture has plenty of musicians from flute and pipe bands to crooners singing Penny Arcade and old Rangers songs.
People might stump up a lump sum for such a holiday with entertainment provided. A long weekend at T in the park sees people part with hundreds just to take in the atmosphere and enjoy the music.
If you could mobilize our people (im sure exiles would come back for it) then I think you could have a Manchester + number of people to save our club.
If it became annual we could have one of the richest clubs in the world!!
You could have family areas, people would bring caravans and mobile homes as well as massive tent city. Catering would pay a lot of the costs because they would make a great amount of money and Rangers merchandise would also raise a pretty penny.
£200 for a weekend camping if we had 250.000 is £50m. Costs of provisions are only a couple of million, Add the revenues from the catering and licencing, merchandising and that pays for the facilities.
We could be taking £50m to buy the club out initially and if it became an annual event £50m for players every year. There is no need to say what that could do for our long term ambitions.
It would encourage artists and be a shot in the arm for publicity. We could potentially police a lot of this ourselves with stewarding, Rangers minded businesses would make money, and we would not be asking people to part with money for nothing.
It’s just a thought but it’s something I think we could make happen, and a model already exists. Imagine a quarter a million doing the bouncy or singing Penny Arcade, with flags waving.
What do people think? Could the annual Rangers festival event be the thing that capitalises on the extent of the love of our support and put Rangers on an entirely different level ? ”

So there you have it folks, what a money making scheme and what could possibly go wrong…

Delighted to see The Griff coming out and telling the world of the problems he has had with depression. It’s a hellish thing, money doesn’t offer a shield, it may have at times the opposite effect. Also it was great to hear that he got a lot of help from Brendan, not many will want to hear that. Lenny will be in a position to offer him care I would have thought given what he has had to endure, he also has had the same kinda problems, so hopefully The Griff is in good hands.

I also see that the bookies are making a killing just now in Scotland-seemingly 91% of the bets that they are taking are going on the huns winning the league, see this close season championship, the outright winners are the huns of course. Get it sorted Pedro, it’s a joke that we keep losing these breaks, and the bookies, they must be loving it.

A very decent result last night, some top quality football, albeit against a team from a lesser league, but in the past we have struggled against these kinda teams. I am saying this on the back of seeing how the team are progressing, warming to Lenny’s tactics, a bit of a mix bag, some great stuff. He sure is maturing as a coach, I just hope and pray that they keep progressing as they are doing.

Five goals to nil is always an acceptable result, well done Celtic, done in spite of the penny pinching board ?

Take care Bhoys and Ghirls.

Bloody hell…

A lot in there.

Very good post, TET.

Simple points we all keep repeating but eruditely put.

Why the f are they banking cash?
Where’s it going?
Lenny is honest and straight talking. This board is the utter opposite, which is why he’ll take the flak AGAIN this season from the Jabba controlled rags, while Iain Bankier sleeps soundly at night in his secure home, and can judge the rest of us from his cushy chair at CP, amongst the glitterati, while telling us all to behave ourselves. How much is he paid to do this??

Indeed, the abuse of Lenny is likely already happening, as the stupid huns blame him rather than look at themselves.

But the big question:

Why are we being deliberately “stagnated “?

What on earth would make a PLC want to stagnate its assets?????

Well done TET, great post. HH

Excellent article, oul’ mucker. Kinda pissed on my chips for my next one,but I can rework it!

I think most of us will agree that PL is an excellent CEO-in most respects-and he may well believe that he is the best around at what he does. I just wish he would realise that fact, and that its horses for courses-if he thinks Celtic hired the best as CEO,an expert in his field, why is he not hiring the best around and allowing them to show their own expertise in their own fields?

Not sure I agree on this accepted notion that he’s a good CEO.

More likely, he suits the agenda, which, as we know, is best known to themselves in HQ.

We’re not huns, so let’s start asking questions of these feckers, imo.

Nothing in comparison to the last crowd. Same for the MIB.

Neil commenting this morning that the new signing IS a right back and states he @saw him play the last 4 or 5 games of last season at RB”

So that is fairly emphatic I’d say. The new guy IS our new RB. Lenny seems very confident the guy is quality.

That leaves Ajer, Julienne, Jozo and Hendry looking to fill the 2 x CH spots. I’d think Hendry will see little to no game time this season.

At LB we currently have KT and Boli.
If KT goes, Boli and Hayes as cover.

The success of that defence will most certainly come down to the strength or weakness of Julienne. It certainly looks good enough for the SPL, the European ties will see the competency question answered.

Middle to front we are streets ahead of the domestic opposition. In my opinion. If the young guns get game time I think we are looking quite good.

Now looking ahead. There’s the problem. Let’s assume we do ok this season. Perhaps CL groups or an extended run in the EL.
We should add 2 x £5m players in December and be ready to hit the ground running in July next season.
We cannot wait until July, flog McGregor, Christie or Eddie for example, and bring in a loan signing or cheap replacement.

We might well be closer to getting a vg squad of young and experienced players, and maintaining the balance and quality is the key.

Gradual additions and sales not firefighting after several years of downsizing.

My opinion only of course.

July 25, 2019 7:24 am

Thanks for the article. Like Uber says lots to consider but mostly again we are talking about our lack of transfer planning. TNT talks about signing quality players in January and hitting the ground running in the CL qualifiers. I don’t know why because this never happens. We prefer to flounder around from July 1 to September 1 with the manager starting off looking for say 6 players and ending up happy he gets three. They are usually not what he wanted but because at one point it looked like he was getting none he’s satisfied with three. This scenario repeats itself every year and to say we have no transfer strategy is just not true. That is our transfer strategy and will continue as long as Peter Lawwell remains at the club as CEO. All that money in the bank and grubbing around offering a million less than clubs want is embarrassing and I’m getting fed up with it. Never mind though, we’ve got the treble treble. Any talk that we could be better will fall on the usual deaf ears till we lose the league. Obviously I hope that won’t happen but we are giving them a chance they should never have. It’s unbelievable to me that anyone connected with Celtic would want that crook Dave king getting one over us but peter seems prepared to take the chance. I can’t get my head round it. Off to ride my bike and try and reduce my angst!!

July 25, 2019 7:38 am

Desmond’s low-risk strategy is: How much does a 150-200 key hotel cost? Ok, lets keep the money in the bank boys, and by the way we need another 30m this season, hence KT situation.

I sense the club changing their mantra to: More than a real estate developer.

I’m not suggesting for a minute everything is rosy in the Celtic garden. I see it this way:

If I’m on a bus and the driver appears to be clueless, the options I’ve got are:

1. Keep paying my fare and stay on the bus and keep moaning like fff. I did this for years in the hope I’d get to the better parts of Europe eventually. I’d been there before and wanted back.
2. Decide I’ve had enough and get off the bus in the hope that if enough do this, they’ll change the driver.
Given I’ve exercised option two, I’m now in the position of watching on from the sidelines. My love of Europe hasn’t declined one iota. I still want to be there.
In addition, many of my friends and loved ones are still on the bus. I’m not gonna sit and hope for a crash just to prove I made the right decision. No chance.
I hope to see improvement in the driver performance.
It just so happens I’m feeling the signs are there that he’s upped his game this trip. Perhaps fear of losing more passengers? Perhaps fear of losing his job?

Either way, I’m encouraged. For now. It’s early days and of course a crash might be just around the corner. I’m not gonna sit here hoping for one though.
I want back on the bus!!

For everyone else still on the bus, they have the same choices. Stay on or get off.

As for Jullien, I will say this again, something is not right, now we have ex players are questioning things as well, the boy should be fit, of that there is no doubt, Bitton playing in front of him, he can’t even get a sub appearance, I hope the seven mill has been well spent.
The Israeli boy has only ever played at RB a handful of times in his career, if he is our quality RB what we are witnessing is the Pedro show all over again, I am not slighting the boy but FFS how can he be classed as the quality Lenny wants, he may well turn out fine, he may not.

July 25, 2019 9:07 am

Dubaibhoy, You are thinking along the same lines as me. I am dumbfounded why we would wish to build up such a large cash reserve. Wait until the year end results come out. Unless they shuffle money about in the accounts it is going to be embarrassing how much money we are sitting on. It will need explaining. I can only think it might be to pay for the hotel, museum and ticket office. In which case that would fine to an extent, a one off expenditure over a few years for a long term gain. Just tell us!

The only thing is though it is not standard business practice. To pay up front for bricks and mortar. Think mortgage. They might call it something else in the business world but it amounts to the same thing. Paying large scale buildings off over 25 years is not uncommon. How long did it take to pay off the refurbishment of CP? 10 years? Cant remember but it wasn’t mostly upfront. And share issues helped out.

If the money is not to build a team for Europe what the hell is it for? It’s too much for a rainy day scenario.

And I think we can rule out saving up for a move to England.

Not sure which ex players you refer to, Ive genuinely not seen that, but what I did see was Neil’s press conference yesterday before the tie and he doesn’t seem too concerned.

He also suggests we’ve a fair bit more needed to be done in this window.

With Julienne, the new guy yesterday, Boli and young Luca , that’s 4. Another one or two? Could be 6 players brought in. I’m not sure you can be adding more than that.
Indeed the fact we are having to is what we have discussed ad nauseam. I’m hoping we don’t find ourselves in this position again.

The fact we have is what it is and all we can do is hope we get this window right.

I certainly agree with your opinion that if Christopher J does bomb, that central defensive area will be very vulnerable again, especially if injuries kick in.

Stockpiling cash is stupidity in the business world. Senseless and even more so in the football world.

It causes recessions in global economic terms and it causes downsizing in the football world. That’s what we’ve witnessed at CP. If you’re stockpiling cash it means you’re selling off your assets. At some point, you cannot reverse the trend.

It’s a practice that needs arrested. It still can be. If it’s not, the restructuring we are seeing now will be repeated.

July 25, 2019 9:23 am

TnT, yes no self respecting business would stockpile cash. They would invest it to get a better return. Even if that meant investing in the City of London.

Christie? I think he’s absolute class. There are 5 or so players in our team that IF retained, and supported by the youngsters coming through, Karamoko, Henderson, Arzani, and with 1 or 2 quality buys every season, can take us to the last 16 in CL, regularly.

That takes us back to policy and strategy. Fiscal and footballers. The only FF that matters.

WOLF OF WALL TWEET ‘Are Rangers going bust again?’ Drunken Ex-SPL boss Roger Mitchell’s goes on a 17-tweet Gers rant
David Fowler
25 Jul 2019, 8:50Updated: 25 Jul 2019, 8:52
ROGER MITCHELL fired off a 17-tweet rant about Rangers’ finances – just seven months after urging Celtic fans to cut out their obsession with the Ibrox side.

The Hoops-daft former SPL chief admitted he was ‘more than half cut’ during last night’s posts.

His unsubstantiated pissed up ramblings came after it emerged Gers could possibly face paying millions to Sports Direct in the wake of the club’s latest defeat in court to Mike Ashley’s firm.

The Light Blues – who posted annual losses of over £14m last October – last night vowed to meet any cash demands coming their way.

Italy-based businessman Mitchell – a key figure in Scottish football between 1998 and 2002 – wrote: “ARE RANGERS GOING BUST AGAIN?

“There are I know many top finance guys (insolvency, credit risk, insurance) out there.

“And even some follow me, the fools. Can we get wisdom of group thing going?

“Anyway I have my crystal ball out and I have dimmed the lights.

“I sense Rangers numbers are in trouble but I don’t have the drive to do the hard yards.

“I sense they are not a going concern without the backing of shareholder loans. But maybe nonsense.”

“I feel a cold presence in the room am I being followed by Peter Lawwell ?

Jim Traynor replied: “You may wish to give such drivel a platform you wanker but we have no desire to assist.”

Mitchell went onto compare Gers’ off-field fortunes with those of Old Firm rivals Celtic.

He added: “What is their current wages/turnover? Are their plams crossed with silver? What is the balance sheet net assets?

“Compared to Celtic, in what line items operationally do they underperform? Match day and tickets should be close? Sponsorship similar? Merchandise/retail maybe not!

“TV similar, wage bills…maybe less than Celtic? Overheads? I want to see outwith Europe and player sales where they fail.”

In December, Mitchell told his fellow Bhoys diehards to take ‘the moral high ground’ and put their obsession with Rangers’ 2012 administration and liquidation behind them.

But last night the failed SPL Chief, terrible singer and hammy actor wasted no time in unnecessarily starting a debate about the Ibrox club’s balance sheet.

He wrote:

“1) I’m not doing this as an anti-Rangers slag off (although I do have a penchant for that).

“I honestly want to look at this as I would a potential ‘short’. Reflections for comment:

“2) Let’s start with the counter argument. They would say this can all turn quickly with Europe and player sales. But is that true?

“I’m keen to see where they are underperforming Celtic on operational KPIs. revenue and cost lines. Like for like, where are they behind Celtic?

“3) You are correct that they are currently running wages/turnover way too high but what choice do they have? To catch up, to stop TIAR [ten in a row], they must try.

“Even thus, their wage bill is less than half celtic. For the next 20 months, it’s ‘all-in’. I get that, but then?

“4) Player sales from Scotland at real numbers is hard. They are not in KT [Kieran Tierney] territory, their benchmark must be [John] McGinn.

“I don’t see them selling for 5m plus. [Alfredo] Morelos? Don’t see it. He´s a pishy wee player who is worth a few hundred K more than Candy Ass

“But ok lets say they have 10m in player value within their entire sqaud. That doesn’t really repair that balance sheet enough.

“5) Putting the brand into the balance sheet is pretty aggressive. Taking it out leaves them even more totally undercapitalised and illiquid.

“So indeed reliant on short term loans. This is where they are a mile behind Celtic. Balance sheet and working capital. That´s what the crystal ball says

“6) So what gets them out this hole? Big money from europe. With all these qualifying rounds, even if they do win the league, I don’t see it.

“Improving retail and merchandising. Ashley has that covered. They are burning so much cash each year. They absolutely need player sales.

“7) But the fans won’t let them sell whilst TIAR is in play. So they are likely to burn 5m plus a year for the next two years.

“For a rich Rangers fan that’s not a huge amount. Many clubs, eg Roma, are in the same boat.

“Needs a big sale each year. Dependent on owner loans. It’s not a new story.”

Podcast host Mitchell – last year slammed by Celts fans for a Twitter attack on Leigh Griffiths – said he would bet on Rangers’ value falling.

He said: “To conclude, would I be shorting Rangers? Coldly as a finance guy? 100% yes.”

THIS is the brutal thug who ripped off a seagull’s head in front of his laughing pals for a sick stunt.

Twists and Turns, 89, picked up the dead bird from a bush by its neck before swinging it around until its head fell off while screaming “60 F***** quid fir af***** windae clean .. you joking … F*** the Seagulls”

The shocking footage shows him presenting the animal to the window cleaner, opening its beak and grinning insanely happily into the camera in East Whitburn, earlier this month.

In the footage the person filming is hysterically laughing and says “ 60 quid next week” before the video ends with a clip of a lit spliff with the caption “well needed für ma back”.

Terrified locals have described Twists as “The devil” and claim that he has been terrorizing East Whitburn for nearly one hundred years. “Since he could walk” said one local Patrick Boyle

When approached by The Sun his sister Bill Maize defended her brother, and said: “No harm done it was one that he killed yesterday having giving it a betting slip.

“It was a dead bird so what’s the problem? He has been diagnosed with a really sore fucking back.” he said

Twists stated : “I know it’s not right but who cares, it was a flying rat. If I’d seen a dead bird I’d probably do the same.”

Billy Boyne , 17, from Whitburn Polis, stated: “We have looked into the video involving a seagull and that has understandably upset members of the orange order.

“We have consulted with the Rotary club and although the video is very distressing and upsetting to view, it has been determined that the seagull was already dead, and Twists who actually does look like that will not be investigated further.

“Officers will be speaking with the man that was in the video and give him some horsey tips and deep heat plasters for his ancient spine”

Twists has since been remanded into custody after being charged with running around an industrial estate with a cone laced with Guiseppies chips while sceaming moan then ya bastards”

As many have said it’s purely guesswork trying to see a forward thinking strategy beyond profit.
The cunning plan is incredibly cunning and would take a far wiser man than me to see.
The strange dichotomy is their willingness to gamble on team success but an absolute resolute stance on continuing profit.
So far we are negotiating the shark infested Euro competition well but the reality is neither of our two opponents have looked up too much.
The fact that they both have created chances against our makeshift defense is a worry looks poor as there are stronger opponents coming.
Context is relevant and hopefully in the future our hoarding of cash will be viewed positively because this defense is truly vulnerable.
Christie has ben excellent and the real McGregor finally showed last night.
Thought it strange that Ed played so close to Griff in what was a pretty crowded area last night?
Liked that JF came inside more to disrupt their shape but still cant figure why when we have a guy with his pace we rarely play the ball into space ahead of him.
My biggest bugbear is the central midfield taking too many touches on the ball before delivering the deliberate wide ball.
I wish they had a little bit more savvy in reading the game earlier and playing the percentages rather than the safe and obvious option.
Was impressed at Christie whipping in the free kick with pace for Ajer’s goal as opposed to the past three years of high floaty shite.
Corners seem to being varied also which is a sign of work to remedy a dismal tactic for us.
Throw ins???
Definite positive sign’s but still think our positioning without the ball is a glaring flaw.
Also often players are too close to one another so system and spacing could improve.
My own guess is SS and ON will be sold if a decent price can be realized to cover the spend at a minimum.
Also expect KT to go and one or two additions to placate the fans.

PS sorry for the rambling nature of my post.

Dear Daily Awe Naw @ 1.01pm

I have it on good authority that this barbarian has also been known to eat Peregrine Falcons.

Not sure if it’s a feenyun thing or no, but can we please discuss expenses for sharing what I know with your wise readership?

Birds and other small wildlife are going missing ffs.

Who? Who ARE these people?? West Lothian deserves to know who these people are……who are eating all the birds??

“It’s been a week since I blogged and nothing much has changed, it’s more of the same and we can still only take things at face value as that’s all we have to go on ”

That’s certainly how I read it this morning……

Have to agree. The minute we face a decent side we’re going to get a wake up call at the back.

It’s not even funny. Give a clown a suit, put him in a boardroom, and watch wallopers say he must be worth his £50K a week. Watch him run away with the loot bag, shouting “you’ll never catch me now” and watch the same wallopers say, it’s okay, he’s just taking it away for safe keeping. It’ll be resting in his account.”

The state of things is reaching astonishment levels now, it really is.

The books need some scrutiny.
