Face Value continued,,,
It’s been a week since I blogged and nothing much has changed, it’s more of the same and we can still only take things at face value as that’s all we have to go on.
We still don’t have a RB, we have signed an Israeli but he is a CB, back up I assume, but as I and no doubt most of us haven’t seen him play, he may well end up being a very decent player.
What has happened and it could be significant is that Stewart Robinson from the huns has along with Les Grey from Hamilton joined the SPFL board and Pedro has vacated his seat, nothing like getting the huns back into positions of power and here’s me thinking that the game was due a clear out, reminder to self, keep taking the naivety medicine as it really does affect how you think about things.
The huns also got a spanking in the court again, you won’t be surprised to learn that the court was down south, they are a wee bit fairer down there when it comes to the huns-unlike in scotland where they seem to be able to ride roughshod through the judicial system. Amazing what the handshake can take care of when needs be.
What does it mean for them? Probably not that much in reality, they are limping along from month to month but they still manage to buy players that they can’t afford, they still cheat and lie, so it’s as you were then. Still, the banter is good, so as I really don’t want to bore you all by repeating myself with the big bad board are a waste of space. I thought that we could have a wee bit of light relief and have a laugh at the huns, as I said they took a spanking in the court this week and things are getting desperate money wise for them. They will be having a fire sale I would imagine as it’s their only assets that can legally generate income for them. Kyle Lafferty has been mutually consented today, a few bob every week off the wage bill, but at what cost-a few hundred grand me thinks.
Billy really does work in mysterious ways so he does, but never fear, there are quite a few enterprising huns out there, they will do what ever it takes to keep pumping money into the glibbys pot without any thought as to why they need to,just because they have been told to. Is there a more deluded support on the planet? I doubt it, they will swallow swallow anything that they are told to, the default though is it’s always Timmy to blame.
So back to the enterprising huns, none more so that this bear, he really should be working in marketing with ideas like these…….
” What can we do to generate income for the club……….
A Rangers branded beer, which if tasted decent it would sell for fun……..
Have a big bouncy castle outside Ibrox and charge the kids £2 to do the bouncy with Broxi bear for a minute……
Have a paintball zone near Ibrox, only Red White and Blue paint is allowed, teams of 30 v 30 and charge a good few quid……
Charge fans to loan a walkie talkie for the match so they can contact the UB or BO to start a song of their choice, Radio in your favorite song, eg Fan in club deck: Barcelona 1972 do you copy. UB Commander: Copy fellow bears lets get this going…………
Blue cheese pizza – A bit different from normal pies and burgers……
Half time sprint, 40 fans run the length of the pitch, Fans can bet on the winner, Good cash for the club ”
Now with enterprising supporters like these why are they in financial shit you have to ask yourself, they could make wheans of money so they could. Still there is nothing but nothing that will top their T-Bear in the park extravaganza, it’s pure genius, why oh why have we not thought of this….it goes something like this and please trust me it has not been Awe Nawed, neither has the above money making ideas…….
Massive Rangers Summer Festival
Mates and I were discussing having a major cultural event in Scotland akin to T in the park, in response to the demands to put the loyal order off the road etc, an experience of Britishness or an all round party for our culture. Some of the figures ( most of which would have been reinvested back into cultural activities ) were immense.
If you think about an event for Rangers. It would be amazing to be at, and the flags, banners and sheer brotherhood would be an amazing boost to our culture and the ” holiday of a lifetime ” It could also in one fell swoop, wipe out Rangers debt and put us in a sound financial footing.
A camping festival on a large area of open land with stages and marquees etc, Rangers themed bar owners could run the licencing arrangements and also make money. True blue artists could play their music from the stages, and guest speakers could fill marquees, plays could be put on etc, Our culture has plenty of musicians from flute and pipe bands to crooners singing Penny Arcade and old Rangers songs.
People might stump up a lump sum for such a holiday with entertainment provided. A long weekend at T in the park sees people part with hundreds just to take in the atmosphere and enjoy the music.
If you could mobilize our people (im sure exiles would come back for it) then I think you could have a Manchester + number of people to save our club.
If it became annual we could have one of the richest clubs in the world!!
You could have family areas, people would bring caravans and mobile homes as well as massive tent city. Catering would pay a lot of the costs because they would make a great amount of money and Rangers merchandise would also raise a pretty penny.
£200 for a weekend camping if we had 250.000 is £50m. Costs of provisions are only a couple of million, Add the revenues from the catering and licencing, merchandising and that pays for the facilities.
We could be taking £50m to buy the club out initially and if it became an annual event £50m for players every year. There is no need to say what that could do for our long term ambitions.
It would encourage artists and be a shot in the arm for publicity. We could potentially police a lot of this ourselves with stewarding, Rangers minded businesses would make money, and we would not be asking people to part with money for nothing.
It’s just a thought but it’s something I think we could make happen, and a model already exists. Imagine a quarter a million doing the bouncy or singing Penny Arcade, with flags waving.
What do people think? Could the annual Rangers festival event be the thing that capitalises on the extent of the love of our support and put Rangers on an entirely different level ? ”
So there you have it folks, what a money making scheme and what could possibly go wrong…
Delighted to see The Griff coming out and telling the world of the problems he has had with depression. It’s a hellish thing, money doesn’t offer a shield, it may have at times the opposite effect. Also it was great to hear that he got a lot of help from Brendan, not many will want to hear that. Lenny will be in a position to offer him care I would have thought given what he has had to endure, he also has had the same kinda problems, so hopefully The Griff is in good hands.
I also see that the bookies are making a killing just now in Scotland-seemingly 91% of the bets that they are taking are going on the huns winning the league, see this close season championship, the outright winners are the huns of course. Get it sorted Pedro, it’s a joke that we keep losing these breaks, and the bookies, they must be loving it.
A very decent result last night, some top quality football, albeit against a team from a lesser league, but in the past we have struggled against these kinda teams. I am saying this on the back of seeing how the team are progressing, warming to Lenny’s tactics, a bit of a mix bag, some great stuff. He sure is maturing as a coach, I just hope and pray that they keep progressing as they are doing.
Five goals to nil is always an acceptable result, well done Celtic, done in spite of the penny pinching board ?
Take care Bhoys and Ghirls.
