All the best Scott

And so it passed that one key Treble Treble component was moved along.
Scott Sinclair was a coup that for all purposes did exactly what it said on the tin.
Should someone have offered those stats at the time for the price or any price within range to be honest Im sure we all would have nodded the head.
62 goals coming from the left wing in basically three seasons is the stuff of dreams, which makes it even all the more puzzling why it is exactly he just never seemed to have got a sniff, and seen others with less credit in the bank get the nod before him.

We haven’t really seen a proper left winger cement the position in a long while, the last attempt at a proper pacey left footed player to take control of that wing went terribly wrong in Dirk Boerrigter. Scotty doesn’t fit that mold , but has silky skills, good feet and conditioning,,and allied with Brendans coaching hit the spot spectacularly so in his debut season.
One imagines it was that very coaching that was a big lure for him and it clearly rubbed off.
But as we have seen time and time again in football, the new man at the helm just didnt rate him and thats all she wrote.

Neils decision to move on Scott and also now Lewis Morgan ( more on him later ) shows that he feels he doesnt have what he wants on that left wing. Ryan has been shunted out there and we have even seen James given a brief stint,, and now we see the two signed for that position going or gone. What happens out there next is a mystery but with little indication of a youngster ready to step in, or another member of the squad, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to expect someone incoming with a view to claiming the position. Hopefully that someone is of the requisite quality, and signed this month to give us a new option boost for the run in.
Signing now would have him well bedded in for any qualifiers early summer which we dont want to approach with a square peg in round hole or newcomer still finding feet.

The departing player was linked with his new club , the historic Preston North End a while ago and didnt fancy it. I must admit I could see why at the time, bit of a climb down and all that going from Brendan and trophies in front of 60k to a 23k capacity Championship side,,,but then again compared to our bent league the Championship is a lot more watched thus more flush and a lot fairer in the officiating stakes.
Also being one of our rumoured top earners it shows there cant be that much of a wage disparity for clubs in that league, a mere one step from the golden ticket.
The Lilywhites have gotten themselves a good player for very little and having just turned 30 they might just tease a few great years out of our ex winger. If he helps them reach the top flight then the entire deal will have been proved a bargain.

It will come as no surprise he left most impressed by the fans leaving them a heartfelt thank you,,, “ But most importantly thank you to all the fans for the love and support you have showb me over the last three and half years Ive been here. Its been inspirational, an honour and pleasure to wear the shirt, you will be missed.”
He told his new teams local reporter “ I think it was the best part of my career, we were winning everything up there. Brendan Rodgers left, there were a few changes and Lenny came in. He is doing a great job and Im sure they will get nine in a row.”
Encouraging words from the man who will have seen up close and personal just how Neil works, and notably he is still backing him for the big task. Pleasing to see or read no parting shots and he never ever did seem like anything but a nice guy who was good at football.

Inter Miami ( I thought it was a joke also ) are in talks with our backup striker former left winger Lewis Morgan who is as well moving on for his own sake. How in Gods green earth they have managed to come up with him as a signing target might possibly be explained one day by someone somewhere but I expect the young man cant believe his luck. Sunshine and the American way of life calls, as does a great photo for the grandkids with Becks.
Grab yer chance with both hands Lewis.

So with the wage bill officially lowered nicely now would be the correct time to pounce on any signings that are ready to cross T’s and dot I’s. There are strong rumours of a defensive midfielder about to join the Hoops, perhaps even out in Dubai, but we deal with signings when the ink has dried as policy. That the squad needed trimmed was universally agreed, and that the first team could do with more options right now is also crystal clear.
Its time to deliver those options.

So long Scott Sinclair treble treble winner. Thanks for the memories. Youll Never Walk Alone.

The above is by Mahe. Guest contributions are much sought after in these parts and should you find one please email it to sentinelcelts@gmail.com

Nice one Mahe. Classy. emotive exit by Sinky who, honestly, seemed to suffer from a shortage of self belief in latter outings.
Surely the situ is this; Mo El Zanussi is available, but Pedro has been scribbling the maths on a cocktail napkin. He’s willing to meet the quantum of fee+wages only if two go out the door; bye Scott, bye Lewis. 30mill in the vault and we’re at this pish again.
And if we’re only just starting to scramble aboot for a CH, CF and CM in wk2 of 2020, I’d ask if Hammond is a poor mans Lee Congerton?

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

Well said,Mahe. Scott Sinclair was a phenomenon, especially in his first,Invincible, season. It’s fair to say though that his form shaded after that-but then,so too did the team’s form. He doesn’t leave as a legend, but as a highly regarded top player for us.

Having rarely played for us since Nov 2018,it was surprising that PL exercised the option on his £2m inc bonuses contract. But of course it meant that when Preston wanted to sign him in the summer,PL demanded £2m. For a player of his quality, that’s nothing,so Preston agreed to the fee. Scott decided to stay.

I’m quite sure that he was informed by one or two people that he had no future at Celtic at that time, and his refusal would not have anything to do with Preston. Lovely seaside town, perfect for the kids, not far from various metropolises. I think he just said

“Fuck you,you shouldn’t have extended my contract if you had no intention of playing me.”

And probably told Preston the reason for declining their offer. By leaving now,PL no longer has to pay him another £1m,and I’m sure that Preston know that! So,betcha the undisclosed fee is the square root of eff all, which by coincidence is exactly how much credit PL gets for his part in this shameful episode.

Good luck,Scott.

Noel Skytrot

Great first season when he absolutely tore up the league but went on the wane even though his contributions were still good. I think Scott is a confidence player, if it was up his performance was great, if not, his play suffered. Still, no one can take away from him what he achieved up here and he goes with the Celtic supports best wishes.

Lewis Morgan….not Celtic class.

Great article Mahe. Scotty will always be thought of very fondly by me.

On behalf of Packy can I just say a happy good morning to everyone. 🙂

Hope you have a good day Packy, and everyone.

big packy

off to work shortly jim, hope you have a good day?

jimthetim53

I used to kennel the fire more than my da. Get did of the ashes from the day before. Keep the charcoal. Crunch up the newspapers, firesticks, charcoal, new coal and light it up.

big packy

JIM, I was posh used firelighters.?

jimthetim53

Our firesticks came from a closed down mining railway, me and my da would go over with a barrow and lift the old sleepers. I always pushed the barrow! My da would saw the sleepers up and I cut the logs up with an axe. For kindling.

It wasn’t central heating that killed coal fires, mate. It was the tabloids!

You canny draw a fire wi a tabloid,needs a good old-fashioned broadsheet.

Now I’ve got another one to worry about!

jimthetim53

What time is it in Toronto?

jimthetim53

I was in Canada once, Halifax. It was Canada Day, June I think. I went to the Governor General’s garden party. Had the cucumber sandwiches etc. said hello to the Mounties. Usual stuff. Lined up to meet the Queen’s rep. and his good lady. They said “Jim the Tim? good to meet you!” They were delighted.

jimthetim53

95% of that is true.

Is the lack of incoming transfer activity in anyway linked to Moussa Dembele? with a 10% sell on clause is PL holding off making any singings until he knows how much more Moussa makes Celtic? As per the MSM this morning Chelsea, who have already made an offer, Tottenham, Man Utd and Juventus are all keen to secure the signature of the Lyon striker. If the 3 English clubs get into a bidding war Pete could be looking at 4 – 5 million being added to biscuit tin. That plus £1 mill or so for Morgan would allow him to spend an equivalent amount in signing a player or 2?

Also apparently the player who was supposed to be in Dubai ready to sign isn’t even there – allegedly.

Aye just the usual transfer window. Just surprised we haven’t punted Oli yet. Is Willo available?

Cynics are us CSC

Have we lost Dudu’s phone number? We won’t be buying anyone until it’s found again. How can the club keep using the same agent time and again? Something about our club stinks to f@ck!

And, Are the club still “surprised” at the fallout from the game on the 29th? Jesus wept!! Not like this has never happened before, eh?!

Jim, I once won a bronze medal in the 100m sprint, at the highland games in Canada ? got pipped at the post by a guy from Texas, who had spikes in his running shoes! ? I had on a pair of Reebok’s, tartan shorts and a baseball hat! ?

He would be mad to go to Man Utd.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1lWJXDG2i0A

Chelsea would be a great fit for him,but the fly in the ointment is the injury to Kane. No surprise, given the amount of games he has played in the last five or six years and always being rushed back from previous injuries.

The bidding war could get quite serious, given the difference between reaching the CL and not. Again,I’m reminded of the fact that I said repeatedly we had sold him on the cheap. Sell on clauses are fine, but negotiating a proper price might be a better idea.

I once spent 5 weeks in St Johns Newfoundland on secondment. Thought everyone there was from Dublin when I 1st arrived – their accents are very Irish like. Loved it there but didn’t stay as the deal the company offered me to stay was considerably less than I was earning elsewhere, so I headed back to the desert of Kazakhstan. 50c in the summer minus 30c in winter I know stupid is as stupid does.

Fail to prepare…

Btw,you are spot on about our over reliance on one agent. And his name isn’t one you see pop up too often when the really good players are being discussed.

We can laugh all we like about other teams signing journeymen from the lower leagues elsewhere, but we are using a journeyman from the lower leagues elsewhere as our chief scout.

Don’t get me wrong,I wasn’t taking the piss. The guy is set for life, etc, but Angola?

Met him again about five years later-let’s face it,I’m not going to Angola and he isnae coming to Swindon!-and he looked in fine fettle. What ye been up to,bud? I asked. You look great.

Aye,that’s what a transfer to Trinidad will do for you.

Just thinking,a dangerous habit I indulge in on occasion…

If it’s No1 in the U.K. too,as the above article suggests, can we sing it at the games? Just like some other No1 hits,Sailing and YNWA?

Has Dudu ever brought Celtic a really good player one we really missed, would miss if they left? Bitton, Kyal, Elhamed, Gershon and Ambrose.

Honestly not one of these guys could be classed as a great player, decent enough and more importantly cheap. Time will tell with Elhamed but it seems like is made of glass – injured again in Dubai.

IMO much better returns on our Man City family connection.

PS not forgetting of course that Dudu also brought us Amido Balde & Stefan Scepovic. 🙁

Bobby, I have worked and lived in places as diverse as the freezing Artic circle, the jungles of Africa to the deserts of Arabia can honestly say that out with Australia (only because the local I used when there was called Fenians) I always looked forward to returning to my wee home in Scotland.

A week today Lord Persey will deliver on how much damages SD will be awarded. The huns spent close on 1.25m just on lawyers fees to defend this acton. Not because they believed that they could win it. It was to allow them to “borrow” what wasn’t theirs in the first place for a couple of years. So if you are prepared to pay that you can extrapolate very inaccurately what the whole caboodle will be when it comes home to roost. Conservative estimate 7m less conservative over 10m. Once this is announced and it really can’t be kicked down the road any further then it will be necessary for the huns to give details on the cash injection share issue that was announced by their resigning could shouldered chairman who has promised to come up with the spondoolies within 3 weeks as it will also provide funds for their spend. Tick Tick Tick . Lets say 25m. If honest Dave doesn´t come up with the spondoolies then hun players will need to be sold and sold quickly at inflated prices.

With Scotty gone (30k) off the wage bill and Morgan Inter Miami bound (3m ?) we should be able to hold onto Edouardo for another 4 month hopefully but should a 30m bid come in we will take it . It is around about this time I expect Neil Lennon will be telling us that having Elyanoussi and Hatem Abd Elhamed will be like two new signings.

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

Hatem is our player, not on loan. Except to A&E,unfortunately.

I think we smelled blood a few weeks ago when Southampton looked in real bother. We had two of their high earners on loan, players they couldn’t afford if they went down. Early negotiations, back of the fag packet calculations, then

BAM!!!

Southampton started stringing some decent results together. Bummer. No cheap deals. If Southampton stay up,both players will be recalled to their parent club. So that’s more work for our esteemed CEO to ignore, imagine throwing a transfer window during my holidays,eh?

David Bowie used to write down sentences or phrases he thought was cool then randomly selected them and put them together to see how they would stand up as a lyric.

Anyways I have a script that does the same with palptalk loyal offerings

and here goes

Morelos will not back in Scotland until after the January transfer window closes as there is a warrant out for his arrest and the huns want to sell him before then and outwith the UK so that proper jurisdiction cannot be implemented and reckon that it will not affect them . Nobody is at all interested unfortunately but they live in hope. So meanwhile Jabba and Wilson have therefore decided that Tavernier needs to be marketed to Newcastle for the same value as the damages that Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct will be awarded next Friday. Mike Ashley has agreed 15 million and the free loan of Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey and Miguel Almiron until the summer. Celtic are haggling with Inter Miami for 25K
