No Time for The Marquess of Queensberry Rules

Morning,all.

While The Good Ship Celtica sails rather serenely on the waters of the domestic game,we are being sorely tested off the pitch. There is an imminent item from Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News about the sex abuse scandal surrounding Celtic Boys Club, which will doubtless attempt to tie in the club with suggestions of negligence, collusion or wilful disregard. We also saw last month a disgraceful smear campaign against the fans, alleging that Alfredo Morelos had his car brakes tampered with. This eventually led to the suspension of Michael Stewart from the BBC for being the only person to have the balls to name the person responsible, and then let the world know that he thinks him to be a dangerous man.

This was shortly followed by the disgraceful mistranslation of a rocking horse droppings rarity,an interview with Morelos himself,in which he appeared to accuse Celtic fans of racism.

This was countered by Celtic Plc demanding an apology, and when they weren’t satisfied with the response, they withdrew co-operation with Sky Sports and presented their case to Ofcom. Additionally, there has been a ramping up of anti-Celtic bias on Sportscene, with every decision that could be remotely seen to be in our favour forensically analysed by almost entirely ex-Rangers players and EBT recipients. Plus,of course, spurious links to us in the papers via interviews with former signing targets which don’t even mention the club in the attributed quotes!

”Twas always thus,of course. But there is something of a sinister whiff to all of the above, where no attempt at independent verification is made as long as the topic is of a sufficiently anti-Celtic nature. At least some of the people involved in it do so in plain sight, unlike the feeder of the various Morelos allegations, all of which have been done without naming any sources.

In fact,it all got a bit murkier yesterday when Ofcom declared themselves unable to act on the Morelos interview as it seems it wasn’t available on their scheduled programming, only being carried on their online and OnDemand services. All very strange,as my sister saw it-and she doesn’t use their online or OnDemand services! But it seems to be the end of it as far as Ofcom are concerned, unless anyone has a recording of the original.

Unlikely,I reckon. Can’t think of many Celtic supporters who would record an interview with him, unless their spidey-sense paranoia gene was working overtime! I’m beginning to think,in fact, that Celtic should employ someone full-time to do just that. Hold them to account for every inaccuracy made about our club.

Bloody hell,we could solve the unemployment problem in the West of Scotland if we did that, because it would take a team of them working 24-7!

But perhaps we could achieve something similar if we took some of the responsibility away from Peter Lawwell? Don’t get me wrong-for once, this isn’t an anti-PL tirade. I think he played a blinder by going to Ofcom, though the non-cooperation ploy could have done with being a tad more permanent. No,it’s just that I think we need a proper media hound in charge of our media relations. Let him fight fire with fire, let him loose on the charlatans who continually snipe at our club. Give him the remit of being polite and personable to one and all, while letting them know that the current state of affairs will not be tolerated. An iron fist in a velvet glove,a Rottweiler straining at the leash. Peter Lawwell cannot seriously be expected to devote the time to all this,it is a full time job in itself. There is more than enough in his current job description to fill his time, and it is for that reason that the leeches in the media have grown braver and more brazen in their sniping at us.

For that, really,is all that it is. Sniping. Nipping at our ankles. All insignificant if taken as individual attacks-but have you seen how a pack of hyenas take down an animal much larger and more fearsome than themselves?

It’s time to get serious,Peter. There’s a definite agenda out there,as there always has been. But it is becoming more of a problem, more focused and more frequent. Find the person who can take this load off your shoulders and who knows how to fight back. And isn’t scared to fight dirty when required. And tell him that he has the 100% support of the club, because you better believe that they will try to make him the story in order to bring him down before he does it to them.

This is no time for The Marquess of Queensberry Rules. We didn’t start this fight, nor did we choose it. But we can win it easily if the right decisions are made in time.

Morning Bobby
In agreement with you on the bulk of your article but on your comment :

“There is an imminent item from Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News about the sex abuse scandal surrounding Celtic Boys Club, which will doubtless attempt to tie in the club with suggestions of negligence, collusion or wilful disregard”

I have commented in the past that I think Celtic could’ve dealt with this by now, and indeed should’ve dealt with it by now.

There are two extremely depressing aspects to this ongoing subject:

1. That Celtic have let it fester so long when they should have had it on the top of their agenda for as long as I can remember

2. That the vast majority of Scotland have no interest in this matter from the victim perspective but for reasons that are equally as despicable as the crime.

They had plenty of time and opportunity to put this sordid affair to bed and have chosen not to.

The entire subject fills me with sadness and whilst there may be justification in sympathising with the position the club found themselves in due to the abhorrent behaviour of others, I can find no justification in the manner in which they’ve chosen to deal with it, or not deal with it.

I’m not excusing the club over this, nor accusing them either. It isn’t really a subject which can be discussed in detail without more knowledge of actual events, but equally I’m not convinced by the club’s stance that Celtic Boys Club was wholly independent from Celtic FC so no liability ensued. I do though think that a news item focusing so heavily on one club gives a totally misleading slant to something which is societal and worldwide. And frankly,I very much doubt that Alex Thomson decided to pursue this because of an Earth-shattering moment of insight, nor that the research and information he will use is all of his own doing.

Twists n Turns

Bobby
If it wasn’t Thomson it was always gonna be someone at some point .

Celtic could’ve taken a more sympathetic and proactive stance imo.

They’ve also allowed the name of our greatest ever manager, who couldn’t defend himself, to be dragged through the mud for decades now.

As I say, only my opinion and perhaps the investigation might throw up some yet unheard information that proves some of the stuff being leveraged against the club as unjust. Unlikely perhaps but time will tell, though time, and the passage of it, has heightened the likelihood that Celtic will not come out of this very well.

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

TWISTSNTURNS

It’s a very difficult subject, mate. I could have left it out of the article, but I just feel that it is more than a coincidence that such a high profile journalist on a national network decides to run with it now,in which case it ties in with the other stuff I’ve mentioned.

I believe Celtic have employed a PR consultancy purely to deal with this, but I can’t remember the name nor find the mail from a while back that told me. As I had no intention of touching the subject, mainly because I don’t have enough information to discuss it,I probably deleted it on my monthly clean up.

As you say,a more proactive and sympathetic approach might have worked. But being Scotland, any attempt at such would quite probably have been trumpeted as an admission of guilt. Rock and a hard place,I’m afraid.

In other news,Marina Hyde from The Guardian won two national awards for sports journalism last night, despite not being a sports journalist.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/feb/24/guardian-sport-marina-hyde-wins-two-sja-awards-barney-ronay-football

The above article references three of her articles which put her in the running. I’m confused by the tone she takes with Geoffrey Boycott

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2019/sep/10/geoffrey-boycott-theresa-may-knighthood

in comparison to the one she adopts for Tiger Woods.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/apr/17/tiger-woods-masters-win-revenge-golf-old-guard

Surely both were guilty of similar transgressions?

BOBBY and TWISTY, should have been nipped in the bud years ago, Thompson must have something up his sleeve, them bastards in govan will lap this up.hh.

The Gombeen Man

So who actually penned the article that Bobby refers to in his leader in the Daily Ranger?

The article is credited to Graeme Young…

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/andraz-sporar-breaks-celtic-transfer-21568568

When I clicked on Graeme Young’s name in the article this is what appeared,

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/authors/graeme-young/

So I Googled Graeme Young, Daily Record…

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/authors/graeme-young/

Is Gabriel McKay actually Graeme Young? Mr McKay’s Bio does credit him with an interest in European football, which might explain his interest in Sporar…

There again the Record might have fecked up it’s links?

Aw,who am I kidding? They’d hide behind their granny if they were attacked.

We all know this campaign isn’t about any victims, it’s about the hope we will be financially hamstrung because of it. This country has had enough of us winning and ANY opportunity to derail us, will be gleefully grasped. The idea that enough money will make this better, is abhorrent.

You don’t even want to comment on this, it’s a minefield!

I have to disagree. We have not taken expert advice regarding ofcom.

If there is to be a report of that nature, I’m actully relieved that it will be by Alex Thomson. God only knows the slant on it if done by someone up here. I think that Channel 4 will give these despicable acts a thorough and impartisan airing, with only good intentions to get to the bottom of it their only aim, por cierto.

I’ve not suggested that we took expert advice re Ofcom. In fact,I’m suggesting that we hire someone who knows enough about the industry.

And I’m saying that should have been done so before raising the futile complaint.

Bankier’s comments that day were unforgivable. The article suggests they may still have consequences even apart from being personally reviled for them.

I saw that. Seems he names names in the protected article. I believe one of them to be Jack, but no idea who the other is. Also,I was told it was more than just two of them at each other’s throats although just hearsay and rumour.

At least Alfredo is in the clear. He was in Colombia promoting his charity work with a rather photogenic lass. I assume she’s pining for her Norwegian Blue as it seems he is off home during his EL suspension.

Maybe he’ll work off some weight while he’s there.

Hopefully the board will realise as a result of this that they need the proverbial Pro From Dover for some things.

Awe Naw

As Rolling Stone pointed out last night. Why are the official SPFL highlight snippets so obviously pro Rangers anti Celtic.

Why is this been done and accepted by the SPFL of which we are the only member that can attract a TV deal that they survive from?

Is it because SKY provide them with the edited highlights?

No because it’s the same with BT

So we really don’t have any interest or any sphere of influence at the SPFL level to counteract such blatant propaganda?

I do wish to fuck you would all wake up and realise this is something that is deliberate and deliberately ignored by us at PLC level. That this is the product that Celtic FC want to sell. The world against Celtic. Old Firm…. Res 12

The misplaced bleating about this is pathetic and beyond moronic in my book. Tedious fucking reading… And on and on it goes

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz……

Big Audio Dynamite

Since Neil Lennon arrived at Parkhead in 2000, Celtic have won 14 of the last 19 titles, and the 5 we didn’t win now extremely questionable.

Now looking like it will be 15 o f 20!

Awesome

Big Audio Dynamite

Awe naw, the Sevco highlights were hysterical, literally, as they claimed for penalties every time the ball touched a St Johnstone player. Their desperation now palpable.

I am absolutely loving their pain!

BAD

I’ve also noticed the mibs are more impartial. Beaton at Kilmarnock for example… He went back to being the official from John

The Gombeen Man

BMCUWP’s,

Celtic’s boycott of Sky lasted about a week. We either caved in, did a deal with someone or realised that Ofcom didn’t have the jurisdiction.
It was primarily Morelos that was stitched up and our support. There’s a defamation somewhere but Celtic PLC will move on.

Big Audio Dynamite

Awe naw, I know! ? Ungrateful c@nts, eh?

You give the 4 pens in the one game, and still they think the refs are against them. ?

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

AWENAW,THEGOMBEENMAN

I’m sure that Celtic have said that they’d prefer to have no TV deal in preference to this one. Maybe PL should have thought of that before he went on a jolly to London in 2012 with Doncaster to negotiate the new deal where we actually paid them to cover the huns games.

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

AWENAW

My money is on the black guy in a brawl, but the white guy being retained by the club.

Awe Naw

BMCUWP,

Celtic PLC say that as a negotiation tactic with the other SPFL clubs because ii is not a crucial income stream. As you correctly point out, as it was sacrificed by us to help Charlie Green in 2012.

We would get more from our own deal

Big Audio Dynamite

Someone so staunch he doesn’t need any footballing ability, has told a £100m player to start pulling his (Considerable) weight.
The weight watchers shirker, has then taken all his toys and ejected them right out the pram.
The inexperienced coach(Haha), not having a clue what to do, has done nothing, so the situation remains as is.
Staunch one, again, gets to hide his footballing ineptitude, behind a “Real Rangers man” persona. Copeland rd born, you know.

According to Gary McCallister, none of the above is true.

Ok, Gary! ?

It’s all win win from his perspective. An above average journeyman and he’s the Forrest Gump of Scotland. I’m not questioning his intelligence. I’m more alluding to his profile. It’s a Gerry Lee Lewis Norman Wisdom type movie plot for real

First of all thanks ATOB and BMCUWP, I am getting there just tired.

Alex Thompson and his investigation, all the best to him, I hope he uncovers a lot of hidden truths. This is despicable act of betrayal of trust for young children. This has been discussed on other celtic blogs by people who have to pick up the pieces and attempt to rebuild shattered life’s. No point scoring by anyone.

As mentioned this is worldwide problem encompassing many sporting, government, religious and royalty being involved. Go on Alex make us proud go for them all.

They are all sick Bastards.

R.St.Parsley

The Dodgy Chairman

Once a dodgy chairman sat inside a stadium
Underneath a roof where the rain flowed free
And he said as he watched and listened to the Billy Boys
“I feel at home here at Sevco FC”

“Won’t pay my bills here”
“Won’t pay my bills here”
“You can default on the bills here with me”
And he sang of the Sash and the Famine and the Billy Boys
“You can default on the bills here with me”

In came a roofer offering an estimate
“You can’t take a chance with the fans’ safety”
“How many rand do you have in your tucker bag?”
“I’ll need some cash upfront for my fee”.

At this the dodgy chairman nearly had a heart attack
“Are you tryin’ tae take the piss?” said he
And he showed him the door after he had gave his arse a whack
“I’ll only pay if you dae it for free”.

Suddenly a crack was heard high above his cranium
Down came the roofs on him – 1,2,3
Now his ghost can be heard in the ruins of the stadium
“You can default on the bills here with me”.

A thing of beauty

Firstly I agree with other who welcome the investigation by Alex Thomson. The club need to address this situation and do what is morally right. Not legally right, morally right. This is a stain on our club and we must support the victims to revive proper redress.
The article in etims is bang on the money and reiterates why having Peter Lawwell as CEO is harming our club. I saw translategate on SSN at 6am in the morning. Not on line. I don’t view on line content from sky so I know I saw it on the telly. So why have celtic caved? We know why celtic caved. There is so much baggage now with Lawwell that he can’t fight our cause.

Mahe

Good morning folks.

I wouldn’t imagine the Club have much to fear from the imminent Channel 4 report. The Boy’s Club was a seperate legal entity. A judge has already ruled on this.
When we farmed young players out they were sent to Giffnock North Boy’s Club – not Celtic Boy’s Club. So I hope Ch 4 are very careful with their reporting.

None of the above makes the desperately sad situation any more palatable though.

In other news, it’s being reported over on FF that Hallidays Da has spilled the beans on Dubaigate. The players were apparently pissed off that Norelos was allowed to fly back to Columbia for a wee break – after having been red carded at Paradise – whereas the others were doing double training sessions in the blazing midday sun. Apparently, the dressing room has been surrendered. Also, Gerrard wasn’t happy at the basic facilities they had to work with and that they were forced to train in the middle of the day to keep costs to a mimimum. While Celtic players had the Platinum Package.

Apparently, Hugh Burns of “whits the goalie daen, Tom” fame has been spilling a few beans of his own.

Finally, I’ve heard a story about the “£7m” transfer of Ryan Kent that would bring a tear to a glass eye. I’ll share it once I’m a bit surer of all the facts.
