Still Up In The Air

Morning,all.
Interesting weekend, you might say. The weekend of course is when politics and world events take a back seat to relaxation and recreation, particularly the sporting calendar. Not this weekend,oh no. This weekend was all about the politics and world events, and sports were virtually wiped out.

The reason? A tiny wee virus previously confined to horseshoe bats in South East Asia apparently, now known to us as COVID-19.

https://yubanet.com/scitech/scientists-are-still-searching-for-the-source-of-covid-19-why-it-matters/https://theconversation.com/why-its-important-to-study-coronaviruses-in-african-bats-131592

It has put the world’s financial markets into a state of panic bordering on hysteria, put politicians and reserve bankers the world over to centre stage as they frantically try to stop a worldwide recession. Hospitals are rapidly becoming overcrowded, martial law declared in Spain and similar restrictions also in Italy. Many countries have closed their borders entirely, others will insist that new arrivals are quarantined for fourteen days. Ireland is even closing its bars!

Scotland, meanwhile,is concentrating its energies on the one thing that matters. Robbing Celtic of their title.

I wasn’t the least surprised yesterday to see the BBC publishing a Press Association release that one club in Scotland is demanding that the season be declared null and void. I think we can all guess which one that might be! Time was when media outlets competed for the scoops, the big exclusives that sold newspapers. Dummy early editions, designed to put the opposition off the scent were not unknown. The spiralling decline in print sales has led to a similar fall-off in quality journalism, and these outlets routinely regurgitate content from elsewhere with a nod to the original source. I can only assume it is a gentleman’s agreement to keep costs down. Hardly surprising when you consider that The Daily Record which once sold 800,000 copies a day, while The Sunday Mail and Sunday Post were approaching seven figures are all seeing sales inexorably head towards sub-100,000.

Every news outlet takes an RSS feed from the Press Association. If you want to put something into the mainstream,it is the go-to enabler. And the last time I recall this particular employee of the PA released a story to the world,it was rapidly picked up and disseminated. That was the story that became Inch High Private Eye,remember? Yet to hear any follow-up from that, strangely enough.

I think Mr PA guy might be better advised to go out and do some work for a change, rather than simply rely on calling a friend. The friend is clearly using him for his own ends, and that after all is his job. It is the job of a journalist to question information received before putting it in the public domain. It’s time he gave it a try.

It has also been an interesting weekend too on the site, after a fashion. Mahe and I set this site up,with considerable help from others, with the simple intention of giving Celtic supporters a place to freely discuss their thoughts on events at Celtic, and thereafter whatever they felt like saying at the time. It has been much more successful than any of us envisaged, and we know that is down to the quality of the comments from the site members.

But it is also down to the simple fact that we have always asked everyone to argue their case with civility and respect to others, and to be honest, that has been IMO the major success of the site in our eighteen months.

Sadly, not everyone feels that way,so Mahe and I will now delete any comment which contains personal abuse to other members or to bloggers elsewhere. We will also delete any post which we consider to contain wilful or dangerous misinformation. Other deletions will be made if they are considered to breach the ethos of the site.

There will be no exceptions and no appeals.

Can someone please tell me what the eff is the fascination with stockpiling bog roll, I have asked a fair few folks and not a single one can answer me, I’m sure someone on the blog will have the answer cos it’s bugging me big time, I could kinda understand it if one of the symptoms of the virus was the squits, but it’s not

Has Jabba been ditched?

Shameful Substitute, although probably getting paid in UVF Drug Money.

Makes complete sense.

Good morning Vietnammmm,
And I hope all are well on this wet California morning.

TeT,,
As far as Im aware the reason people are buying so much toilet roll if because the medical guidelines are to have a couple pieces tissue/TP in your hand and when you sneeze once or cough even a bit you do it into the paper and then immediately discard the paper upon one use,,so folk are thinking we will need a ton of it.
That might be false but thats the impression Im under.

Twists,, delighted the new wheels are rolling however Ive bad news if its black.
Black range rovers are synonymous with drug dealers over here and get pulled over on sight near enough.Just letting you know 😉
As I havent purchased my new ride yet can I ask do you think the prices will drop?
Hold off and strike in a while?
Didnt know you had twins, big congrats.
We have discovered the wee one is right handed left footed. Nothing normal about this lassie.

CT,

aye that must mean Jabba has being fired.

I suggest he was responsible for the Tavernier program notes as the thrust within Ibrox at the time was to destabilise Gerrard but Gerrard has won that particular skirmish and it sheds light on his comments about his players Tavernier and Morales needing protected from peeple.

Celtic get what they want after translategate

One suggestion for the UK based posters is to mail books to each other.
Quite cheap in country and theres nothing like a good book plus you could get it back.
Dvds could also work.

The North American Tims could also do that but somehow I dont see a lock in here. Whether that is for the better or worse we will soon find out.

Im looking at a phone in show, sit back and listen to a few of us shoot the shit and maybe call in yerself.
Topics like the player of the season , season summary to come pretty soon.
Plus theres the likes of Craig Gordon and Johnny Hayes out of contract.

Hail Hail

it must also follow on from that,. that King influence within Ibrox is even more diminished. I reckon the Asian investor Win Wan Soon who´s about to drop 20m into the hun bank account was his last “official” piece for Sevco. I do hope Jabba never got a good pay off as he will be selling stories to make up the shortfall.

TeT,
while youre around a wee question.
If Im using a battery , a deep cycle battery in this case, to run a fridge while power is out,,
Ive heard batteries shouldnt ever be brought below 50 percent,, how do I stop the fridge draining the battery and damaging it?
Would a charge controller shut it down at 50% ?

bada bing1

New York closing bars, restaurants, gyms, theatres at 8pm tonight.

Mahe
It’s good to let a battery drain completely every now and again, and no it shouldn’t shut it down, you should be able to charge it as it’s running the fridge

Perhaps we should do something for the homeless at this time.

I think it was BAD earlier said we might create a roll call.
One I was thinking of is,,
If you can help or offer aid to those that need it you state the areas you can reach.
We can then create a list of areas that we can offer assistance in and spread that list far and wide?
Might help rather than a call us if needed ?
Hail Hail

I fully expect before Easter for UEFA to declare that all domestic cup competitions should be declared null and void including their own CL and UL competitions. That all entries to next year’s UEFA competitions will be based on present league positions which will be declared final. It’s the only way to prepare for a quick resumption. Any clubs threatening legal action with this decree will be dealt with harshly by their own associations at UEFA´s behest. This will allow UEFA to keep this seasons prize money to compensate themselves somewhat for losing out on the Euro 2020 income while keeping governments happy.

Locally SPFL cubs will be happy to get any prize money as soon as possible due to the current lack of income coming through the doors and this emergency measure will be hurried through. I do not believe that either the SFA or SPFL have presently enough finance to setup a survival fund. Hearts imminent relegation and the huns administration will pale into insignificance as many people unfortunately will lose their; club, businesses, job, team to support

There will be no government support financially

AFTERNOON ALL, the wifes friend has a dog grooming parlour in penny lane in Liverpool, yes there really is a penny lane ? one of her staff has tested positive for the virus, he was at the Liverpool athletico madrid game last week, mingling in the bars with their fans, maybe co-incidence.hh,. she now has to close her shop.

Just been in Morrisons, Saw a guys trolley full to the brim with toilet roll, I called him a selfish arsehole & told him to think about the elderly.. Then he was like aye that’s all good and well but I work here, can I carry on filling the shelves ?

Mahe

AweNaw,
With funerals to pay for plus a hell of a lot more issues, season tickets will be well down the priority list.
I think next season is a write off also.
When all is said and done, the dust on this virus had settled, we can deal with things like sport.

I’m hoping this drives wholesale change. It’s the biggest chance we’ve ever had. It might well be forced if many clubsxgo to the wall. Watch the Epl call us.
Dermots dream has taken a huge stride closer to reality imo.
The smaller clubs in Alba will die off.
Hail Hail

Mahe,

You may well be right but I don’t envisage such a doomsday scenario. A cull more than an extinction scenario. Time will tell. I am not saying you are wrong. Far from it.

BREAKING: Rangers appoint leading member of the Orange Order and DUP councillor David Graham as new head of PR

T’N’T this may interest you being the proud owner of a new Ranger rover.

I had my 8 year old Landy Freelander towed to a land rover specialist today – not a dealership i might add. It has been playing silly buggers – starts sometimes then steadfastly refuses to start. AA looked at it last week and said it was ‘probably’ the throttle although it was showing 3 different fault codes ?‍♀️. As usual being a Land rover they couldn’t sort it. So i arranged to have them tow it to the garage today. 2 hours and 1 phone call later and it is going to cost me best part of £750 to get it fixed, new throttle, 2 new sensors for feck knows what and a new driver side spring that i didn’t even know was broken. A sore one indeed but considerably cheaper than taking it to a Land rover dealership – i know that from experience. They charged me £125 to tell me what i had already told them what was wrong with the vehicle- steering column lock is fecked – it says so on the dash (another common issue with land rovers).

Anywho this is the bit that may interest you. The driver of the tow vehicle informed me that a large percentage of his work over the past couple of weeks has been taking brand new Range Rovers and Land rovers that have broken down back to the dealership!!
Sort of has me thinking about not actually buying a new Landy. I do like Merc 4×4’s also but they don’t seem to manufacture manual transmission models.

Mahe

One of the games biggest problems looks like he is being forced out.
Hah.

I can’t see many clubs down south going bust, at least not in the EPL, down the divisions for sure, in Scotland a fair few will be at significant risk, every week that passes more and more will be getting close to calling it a day, I include the huns in that, for all their support are “loyal” I can’t see them forking out for season books without knowing what the future holds, the game may never be the same again, who knows what is in store for us, if you believe in the conspiracy theories or not, it’s never gonna be the way it was.

Oglach

Sevco’s new head of PR David Graham soon to be fomer DUP councillor on Belfast city council, worshipful master in the Orange Order and a member of the Royal Black Preceptory. I had to check that it wasn’t April 1st.
You couldn’t burn those bast*rds necks with a flame thrower.

Welcome to one Scotland many cultures David. You’ll fit right in here.

A thing of beauty

I see the Huns have released a statement. Basically in the interest of sporting integrity the season cannot be complete without the full 38 games being played. They end the statement with saying that they realise there is a lot of hardship, people losing jobs and they as a club won’t be found wanting. What the actual f…
You could not mark their necks with a blow torch. Coupled with their appointment of a new PR guy with strong connections to the orange order we can take it as read this mob will do as they please. Peter Lawwell better start earning that huge salary and remind these pricks who really is running the show up here. Oh we’re no running the show. Sorry my mistake.

Jabba.
The spin is; he was always going to leave in May, at the end of his contract.
Hmmmm, why do I have trouble believing that?
Sevco have been quite cute here, if they had appointed Joe Soap PR, then I’m sure Jabba would be doing his best to intimidate.
However a top Orange Order, DUP councillor, kinda blows Jabba, and his many contacts, away.
He knows he can’t mess with them.

The huns talking about integrity, on the day they appoint a senior member of the Orange Lodge

JimmynotPaul

Graham, is a worshipful master in the Orange Order, according to his list of members’ interests on the Belfast City website.

He is also listed as a member of the Royal Black Preceptory – a secretive Protestant fraternal society.

He is one of the most senior members of George Telford Memorial Orange Lodge who drew fierce criticism in October during their centenary dinner at Belfast City Hall.

Belfast City leaders later banned the organisation after guests from the Govan Protestant Boys paraded and chanted through the corridors and reception hall of the building.

It sparked anger when footage appeared on social media, particularly from nationalist councillors, who demanded to know why marching had been allowed through a shared space.

Graham is a former special advisor to the DUP and was elected councillor to the Balmoral ward, which includes Windsor Park, last May.

1981 – American author Dean Koontz writes the novel “Eyes of darkness” a book about a killer virus DEVELOPED in the city of “Wuhan” in China and spread to the rest of the world from there. In the book the virus is given the name “Wuhan – 400”

Just coincidence I’m sure ?

Mike, You really think he think he thought he was a soldier travelling in time? My guess would be he’s reading from a script. Funny though! Sent back to 1975 to retrieve a 1975 IBM computer!? ?

Puff

J. Titor was a name used by a poster on various blogs about 20 years ago, claiming to be from the future, and ‘predicting’ stuff that was about to happen …

several years ago on CQN, someone posted under that name, talking about liquidation, etc…. I didn’t know who the poster really was… but maybe BMCUWP or some of the others, who know a lot more of the CQN’ers than I do, might know more …

Big Audio Dynamite

Mike, was the guy on CQN talking liquidation before it happened?

Mike in Toronto

BAD
Lets say I always took his posts with a grain of salt …but he was harmless…. whether he believed what he was writing or not… that is beyond my ken.

Honestly, I cant remember when he started on CQN, or even what he really posted about … but he used to come on and say he was from the future…

maybe I should have paid more attention ….

although I dont remember him giving any future horse racing tips, or stock tips….those I think I would have remembered…
