Democracy crowns us Champions

Yesterday seen something take place that many of us probably forget how fortunate we are to have in the first place.
Democracy.
It cost countless lives to deliver to nations, fought for in almost every corner of the globe, and it should never be taken for granted, ever.
Its constantly tested though, especially recently.

Ridiculously I have three governments that Im not a fan of at all in my life to some degree or other ( North and South of Ireland and USA ) but I have long accepted thats just life.
Sporting governance on paper should be a walk in the park compared to real life affairs, considering theres a rulebook to adhere to and listed punishments for breaches, but the national sport has easily vied with the virus for the headline slots this past couple weeks.
I could ask why but the answer is in the word ‘headline’ , they work to an agenda and theres not a Tim that doesn’t know it.

Upon losing a democratic vote the gentlemanly thing to do is to show grace and congratulate the victor, then give thanks to those who helped you along the ultimately unsuccessful journey.
A well done and any grace was so very lacking. Friends were acknowledged.
Even having lost the last line of their statement gave no thought to that fact, showed zero regard for the fellow members desire to move on, and in fact stated that moving on is impossible even though the clubs wish to.
‘The status quo cannot hold’ after losing displays the mentality that we can decide what holds or not, plus its an affront to the actual democratic vote.
Win and fine, lose and not? Great !
A one club one vote system is the essence of an equal for all process, and should never be abandoned.
Thats one thing Hampden got right I will give them that.

Of course should some clubs still wish a report I have no doubt they would be able to commission one and be invoiced for it also themselves. Not being official might bring problems but you can pay anyone to look into anything, and if that body has some credibility all the better.
Plus there’s fans with keyboards aplenty out there I’m sure would just love to sink their teeth into that impartial file, but with money stopped altogether who is gonna agree to commence an open ended and thus unlimited funds investigation?
It wasn’t about the vote process anyway was it, the SPFL just aren’t playing ball with the Ibrox mob. They are about to play cat and mouse with them though.

Punishment has to happen, and it will begin a fresh round of kicking and wailing.
It could be said for the good of the game it should be a minor slap on the wrist and everyone move on but that spiteful final line probably scuppered that, and possibly makes some form of solid action even more important just to really get the point across.
I would point out that mad dogs do get put down, even in a democracy.
They’ve certainly been acting that way and the next couple weeks should tell if their fans will take up the mantle.
No matter what punishment though, it will go down like a lead balloon and dont discount playing to the gallery with a ‘ they aren’t getting it’ whatever it happens to be while sending someone out the backdoor to sort it all out.
The ultimate spiteful act would be to liquidate and not pay them.
We triple double dare you Parky !!!
Some type of public slap will come soon. It simply must.

As for our club of choice well played I must confess, silence was well the best policy here as they tear each other apart. I note that leagues must be concluded by the 25th of May, but dreaming of seeing the big announcement made that day is wishful thinking and truly would lead to big allegations. You can bet your bottom dollar it aint taking place then. Whatever.
It will be soon but just give us the damn thing that we earned by any metric.
Of course ‘The Virus Title’ will be disputed by many from hereafter, especially those fans with keyboards that ignored a real dossier of evidence not long ago at all like cowards.
Will the same writers and clubs decry the democracy they live in, or they just don’t want it in their sport?
Cake and eat it?
Hypocritical bastards more like.

The above is by Mahe, California’s voice of authority on Scottish Football.
Title celebrations due soon. If you fancy writing anything for the site we would be more than happy to publish and dissect.

Afghan, there was another woman who was walking passed with her mother, unknown to me. They stopped and admired my work. Got chatting, the younger lady is moving in up the road soon. Says she really likes the street. But I think it might have been me! She was smiling a lot. 🙂

I live 20 miles from Basildon, in a wee town called Maldon. Very picturesque, just ask BMCUWP or google it. I worked in Basildon for a few years, at the Festival Leisure Park (in the retail part), not far from Laindon, and there is a McDonalds at the entry to the park. Every possibility our paths crossed without either of us knowing. Was it you who ate my Big Mac while I was in the loo? ??

Afghan melon - formerly Cplchlc

That’s great Packy ?

B P

Would you consider or is it worth possibly looking into a mobile dog parlour ?

big packy

SOL my secret is out ? yes it was the festival leisure park, its a small world, then I would come out of there, back on to the M25 and go over the bridge, and on to a place called haywards heath, a million miles away from glenboig lanarkshire?

jimthetim53

Afghan, don’t know if that would suit Packy’s needs but that is a great idea! Bet there would be a demand for that. The rich, the remote, the disabled.

big packy

AFGHAN, cant say to much at the moment, but we are looking at different things, will let you know, thanks for your concern, luv ya to bits?

Afghan melon - formerly Cplchlc

B P & Joan already have the client list to pick from & it opens the door to those as Jim pointed out who aren’t mobile or housebound.
Obviously that number has massively increased for the foreseeable. There is a couple of mobile parlours i see very regularly around here.

OK you ghuys a little free drum lesson cos I luv ya all to bits, know mcaff has a nephew who plays drums, that’s 2 pupils now who asked me to teach them how to play take 5 dave Brubeck, 5 beats against 4, technically hard, but if you just take the rhythm section its a lot easier, forget your hands, keep them by your side, put on take 5 on your cd or mp3 player, then just play the hi hat and bass drum 123 12 123 12 123 12 etc you will eventually get the time signature in your head, and you can play anything on the cymbal as long as you keep the bass drum and hi hat playing 123 12 123 12, hey its that easy, I wish, takes a lot of practice but when you master it ,you will feel ten foot tall, then we can go and play the theme from 633 squadron the movie 123456 123 123 then we will have some fun happy drumming?

jimthetim53

Nighty night folks and Packy. I’ve got a murder to solve in the vicarage.

Man United sign Moussa Dembele for 62 million reports say.
He will do well there.
Hail Hail

Garry

Mahe
If Moussa signs for Man Utd and does as well for them as ex Celt Brian McClair did for them, he will be loved in Salford. Think Brian was a better player than Moussa. Was more devastated when we lost Choccy to Man Utd, than I was when we lost MD to Lyon. Maybe an age thing though?

Garry

I am finding it strange the Celtic supporters love in with Neil Doncaster just now. Doncaster was one of the architects of the resurrected Rangers, who are now trying to destroy Scottish fitba. The monster he allowed to be created, are now destroying him and the game in this country. Are those Tims who support Doncaster, the same Tims who love the Old Firm games back? Not for me.

Mahe

I think Brian had the sense to attempt to maximize all he had, through training and working on weaknesses etc, and he succeeded.
Moussa has God given talent, but I don’t think he has the drive to get the most from it like Choccy.
He is rich already I’m sure.
Ole is a good man and good example, and will fancy getting him sorted. The main man at United is loved, gets mega famous and very very handsomely rewarded.
He could just go on to love it there and become the man.
The fact he blew City away is a great start.
Hail Hail from the sun

Margaret McGill

Garry
Damn right my friend
Democracy my arse

Mousse? I wonder how much Leicester offered?

Garry

Mahe
If Moussa signs for Man Utd, I hope he follows some of the Celtic greats to play at Old Trafford like Delaney, Crerand, Macari, McClair and the potential great Liam Miller. All left Celtic too early. Why???

Garry

MMcGill
I don’t believe in democracy. I believe it is an orchestrated illusion to fool the masses.

Garry

In Celtic greats to play for Man Utd, how did I forget the King Henrik? ?

Auldheid

There is troll who turns up on SFM every so often and ….. well see for yourselves what he attempts. The main reason for re-posting is that in responding to him the subject of reconciliation and its dependence on the truth appears. A bit long but hopefully informative:

Auldheid 12th May 2020 at 20:33

reasonablechap 12th May 2020 at 08:17 Edit

We have reached a dark place at a particularly difficult and challenging time. The game needs to ensure it has the best possible governmental structure and individuals in place going forward.

The ongoing omnishambles at the SPFL has found that same authroity badly wanting at a crucial time. Why would you trust them in the stormy waters ahead?

We need an Independent Inquiry to shine a light on all pertinent areas so whatever governmental faults, individual responsibilities, etc. that are found, can be addressed with an eye on the future.

The SPFL mistakenly conflated issues within the resolution (infamous Good Friday Vote). Now I see this messageboard looking to conflate their resolution 12 campaign onto the current problems. I’d call the latter, tribal whataboutery.

By all means pursue whatever issues you want but this is seperate matter that needs immediate attention to give us a chance to future proof the game at a time of a real existential threat to Scottish fitbaw.

Any talk of …but this should of happened 8 years ago and we wouldn’t have been in this mess is predictable but of no material use to the current situation, however you twist it.

===============
Auldheid responds:

You can call it all you like, but the case for including past governance issues has already been well made by others, but for someone steeped in a culture of whataboutery, everything is whataboutery.

It has to be because whataboutery, stops investigation of wrong doing by self, its always the other mobs fault never your own.

On Res12 and LNS sham, shareholders of Celtic have found wrongdoing by Celtic themselves because of their involvement in the 5 Way Agreement that took jurisdiction of matters under the 5 Way away from the SFA to CAS.

Yet Celtic insisted shareholders stick with the SFA judicial process. That was the basis of the most recent resolution to take the matter, where all the evidence points to a licence gained under false pretence to UEFA, yet Celtic insisted it be left with a process rendered functus by a clause they were aware of in the 5 Way Agreement when Res12 first tabled, but refused to press SFA for answers. Poor governance? You bet your life and unlike the current issue all of it backed by evidence meaning more chance of winning the vote just lost, so perfectly valid just from a practical view to raise on SFM and consistent with its pursuit of proper governance.

It is not that covering all bases is of no use to the current situation, it is that the current situation (had it been been supported by majority of clubs) is of no use to the consistent aim of SFM of SFA/SPFL reform if its scope is limited at the start to the current situation that has no evidence to support it.

It would have been useful and more convincing in arguing the case had TRFC, having said it was about proper governace had set out all the documented instances that support an investigation rather than WhatApp conversations.

That trick of limiting scope is one those responsible for governace have been employing from 2012 and you think it appropriate to settle future matters that have been unsettled from 2011 because of limitations set then? Its like putting an elastoplast on a gangrene leg wound and wondering a week later what the smell is.

There seems to have been some commitment by Mclellan to look at the issues around the latest item of poor governace (assuming there is an SPFL left to do it) and I hear the word reconciliation now being touted about and far away that was. So I tweeted to Chris McLaughlin.

@BBCchrismclaug A stinging end to the #Rangers statement following defeat of the resolution to commission an independent investigation into SPFL. Killing off hope of reconciliation anytime soon.

Auldheid replying to

@BBCchrismclaug on Twitter

Chris. Do you actually know what reconciliation requires? You must know from South Africa and Mandela that Truth is a prerequisite. Not partial truth around latest skullduggery but the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So when SPFL asked SFA to investigate handling of ebts & side letters but SFA denied the request, why is now not the time to include that event & ask SFA why they have stopped pursuing UEFA licence 2011? You cannot have reconciliation without the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth. So for reconciliation truth is needed.”

Which takes me back to your ignorant claims about whataboutery. I don’t mean ignorant as in daft or stupid, I just mean not knowing enough.

Reconciliation requires looking at oneself first, admitting with hindsight that had you the chance to go back and start again and knowing the consequences of your errors where for example no one now trusts you, you decide to make amends and if those errors hurt others seek forgiveness but give it to others also for in Scottish football EVERYBODY wronged fellow clubs in pursuing self interest.

Then and only then when the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is recognised and the past undone, can there be reconciliation.

However if you are immersed in whataboutery the last place one looks is oneself.

Different Class

Garry dont forget Jimmy Delaney reckoned one of the great man untd players

Garry

DC
Jimmy was first I mentioned. My mammy would never forgive me if I forgot her Uncle. Celtic, Man U and Derry City great. He was appreciated at Aberdeen and Falkirk too.

Different Class

Jimmy Delaney Celtic 143 apps 68 goals Man Unt 164 apps 25 goals Abedeen 31 apps 7 goals Falkirk 40 apps 20 goals he also played with Derry City, Cork City and Elgin City. He had some strike rate for a winger.

Garry

DC
The only player to win 3 FA Cup winners medals for 3 teams in 3 different countries in 3 different decades. Jimmy Delaney Celtic, Manchester United and Derry City.

Different Class

Gary stand corrected you did mention him how could you not he would have been your great uncle.

Different Class

Gary when he died i am sure we played the Aberdeen the following Saturday i might be wrong but i am sure there was no minutes silence for him I was pretty shocked.

Garry

DC
I know he died in 1989. I don’t remember any minutes silence or other tributes. He was buried with a Celtic shirt draping his coffin, with all the Celtic team in attendance though.

Different Class

Gary there should have been. He was one of Busby’s favs i remember reading.

Garry

DC
Jimmy Delaney and Matt Busby were both Lanarkshire Catholic Bhoys. Jimmy remained a Celtic first man. Reckon Matt became more of a Red.

Different Class

Gary i better not hang Celtic out to dry if i can i am going to see if i can find a press report for that game and if they mention a minutes silence but it’s seems to be stuck in my memoary for some reason.

Different Class

Gary have you been down to the Man unt museum there must be items about him down there?

Garry

DC
No I haven’t been to Man Utd museum. You are probably correct though. He was well thought of at Old Trafford. He has a few mentions in Hampden Park museum. He was seemingly a star for Scotland v England too, a few times.

Different Class

Gary Yes anything i have read about him said he was a special player. Do you know what happened to his medals do the family still have them? The Man U one especially would be worth serious money today,
