Six of the best

We might have preferred a few warm up games, but in the end it didnt really matter,, we were always gonna go out and smash whoever was in front of us, such was the pent up frustration surrounding the club following THAT draw. The Icelanders were unfortunate in that regard, but the gulf in class was evident from the get go, so they can have no complaints about their exit at our hands.

The selection raised some eyebrows but should be seen as a kick up the ass for both regulars dropped, rather than a new first choice 11. At least thats how I read the situation.
Fan-a-tic is forever pointing out how Bitton is often caught on the wrong side of his man, and I’ve seen it myself, but the big Israeli strolled through the game, as did the other draftee El Hamed.
He especially didn’t blitz forward like his counterpart, leaving James the wing to himself, for better or worse.

On the left side though Taylor did have licence to roam with Calmac covering at least initially, and bhoy he enjoyed it, so much he even scored! The kid looked to be enjoying his football, on a mission, and got some just rewards. He laid a marker that the left back spot is mine, and it will be fought for. I hope to see more performances like that from our young native.
That left side produced another couple goals through our loanee Ellyanoussi, who showed quality to score twice but needs to make that level consistent.

Lenny will be pleased with what he saw, and rightfully so as we showed purpose and intent,,one touch play and the Celtic way in spells which is very encouraging. I expected no less, we always bounce back under this manager, his disdain for losing must show. He will be especially happy at the spread of goals, two midfield, two defence, two (almost) for Odsonne.
Hopefully those he left out find a bit of fire in their bellies to regain that spot, and a 6 zip win without isnt ideal, but competition for places should drive up standards, and last night was a great start in that.

The opponents were not awful, could have scored a couple although the keeper looked out of his depth at this level, so theres a lot of heart to be taken. Our new striker didn’t get his dream debut as hoped for, perhaps due to being stuck on as part of a duet with Paddy Klimala, who was looking to play in those spots and space himself. Ah well, plenty time.

The fans (and perhaps the season) needed a kickstart, and they got it. We can play well when on point, have good players to win games, and a blip is exactly that, a rare occurrence. Its now up to the management team to keep the standard of performance high, league winning high.
We seen glimpses last night of just how devastating we can be when we click,,those glimpses become the norm the league is ours.
Well done bhoys.

Dunno what happened to yesterday’s article. Was it something I said? I’m sure I said something deep and meaningful of profound philosophical significance, decided to commit it to posterity and woooosh, gone.

C’est la vie…

That’s enough deep and meaningful philosophy for today, folks. Yeez can relax.

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

Good summation of events,MAHE. I got the selection of Elhamed correct, but the Bitton one blindsided me! Hopefully it’s a kick up the arse for Ajer-I’m no great fan of Bitton, but if he was keeping me out of the team,I think I’d take up painting or something. And I canny draw a straight line wi a ruler.

Nice to see the back up strikers getting a run out,but having both on at the same time when they clearly hadn’t been introduced and got to know each other’s movements was an error that needs rectified if we are to get the best from them. I still reckon that they will be our main two this year unless Eddy signs that new contract.

Thinking I’ll ask him for an autograph and then going for the big reveal, that wasn’t an autograph book,it was a contract. Only way I can see it happening,to be honest.

Since it got lost in the ether yesterday,a belated but heartfelt

HAPPY HOOOOOPY BIRTHDAY to

LENNYBHOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always has a spot in my heart for getting me back to my hotel after 28 hours of work, travelling and good company. And who obviously has the patience of a saint.

Just found out, that Gavin Williamson is married to a teacher…..you couldn’t make it up…

Good morning all and Packy.
A very satisfying night’s work. As a wee aside, with respect, but it was good to see Broonie getting subbed on the hour mark. We should see more of that this season. Start to ease him into his playing days retirement. Likewise when the league is wrapped up be on the bench more. Get the squad used to playing without him. And developing his successor as captain.

Gordon64

A thumping 6-0 win against the Icelandic geezers is exactly what was needed 👍🍀

AS67

Good performance last night from the bhoys.

Maybe we need some sort of sports therapist. Why does it take a ‘big game’ to get the best out of our players? Its frustrating. Arguably Kilmarnock is a bigger club than KR. The occasion picked us up. Why?

The Jersey should be enough of a reason to motivate any individual pulling it on.

But foreigners who don’t get the history, the ethos, those who see it as a job? Well the pay check should cover it.

But that aside, hopefully a sign of things to come

The Real McCoy

Looking like winning 6-0 in Europe breaks the blog 🤔
I had no problems logging in there, so I hope our early morning bhoys are all well🙏🏻.
Big Packy, JTT, Garry et al.
Twisty hope you’re well.
Wee recap from last night: I struck lucky “with a little help from my friends “ Chalmersboy and Garry, I think, predicted 6-0. I took their advice and bet Moi to score first, last, anytime and 6-0.
90/1,90/1,25/1✅
However I wasn’t the only lucky bhoy last night.
Yon bliddy lucky firey 👨🏻‍🚒🚒 Bada has some good news too ☘️💸.

The Real McCoy- thanks, cracking line yourself mate, well done.👍

The Real McCoy

Thanks Bada 🙏🏻
Really pleased for you too 👨🏻‍🚒😉

jimthetim53

Well done The Real McCoy & Bada Bing!
I followed Twisty’s 6-2 prediction for a laugh. Put £1 on at 90/1. Got the 6 right! To be honest after 10 mins. I reckoned they were never going to score 2. 🙂

The Real McCoy

Hi Jim, thanks.
Although we were never going to lose the game, I was bricking it when KR had their forays forward.

fan-a-tic

Mahe
Bitton had a good game but they were hardly an attacking threat.
Was a little worrying though late in the second half how often they did create chances as our defense seemed to vanish.
Mo and Taylor stood out while Julien and Ntcham played those gorgeous forward diagonal balls we need to see more of for our first and last goals.
Still think Christie is playing too wide on the right to be effective.Seems to frustrate him and he goes on wild goose chases.Needs to be more central where his shooting and forward movement can be effective.
It also crams the right side nullifying areas JF could run into.
When James did come inside Elhamed had some good runs and crosses from wide area.

The site is going crazy today.
Article 18/8/20 ‘Showtime’
Article 19/8/20 ‘Six of The Best’

You can get one or the other but not both it would seem!

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

JIMTHETIM53

The Showtime article isn’t showing up on any of my devices at all. And I reckon that will be the case for most of us,as we resorted to posts last night on the end of Monday’s article.

I expect it’s a teething problem with the migration to a different host, since the last one severely let us down. But at the moment I’m 100% locked out of admin which will make posting up to date articles awkward.

Mahe

Good very early morning.
First day of preschool today. It’s a milestone.
They grow up so fast.

Anyway, site seems responsive? Bit like our team.

Hail Hail

Mahe

Jim I can’t find that showtime article. Interesting.
The new host is clearly quicker. Comments are snappier.
Hope you’re well.

Regardless of opposition, we were really slick last night. Big bonus having the 2 El’s back fit & flying.

Happy camper.

Mahe

Danny,
The one touch passing was a joy and shows Lenny can get a tune on the training ground. That was clearly drilled into them. We must continue along that path.

I thought Taylor looked good but the two Els did well. Good night at the office.

Add a LB, Turnbull and Duffy, and I would be delighted 👍

Hi all.
From Stephen McGowan.
Celtic star Tom Rogic set for £4m Qatar move with his seven-year Parkhead stay to end after falling out of favour under Neil Lennon

JimmynotPaul

Site soooo much better today.
Thanks folks.

Rogic to Qatar team,£4 million

SOLKITTS-😁😁

IMO, good money for TR ,who is constantly injured, he leaves as the man who scored the Invincible Treble winning goal, that launched a million drinks, and a million tears,I wish him all the best.

AFTERNOON ALL and JIM, where is the champions league final this year im going to book early, i can feel it bhoys, have not felt so confident since that game against vojvodina, my uncle packy would never stay till the end ,we get the corner, ok he said lets wait, remember charlie grabbing the ball stepping back, and the next thing the ball nearly bursting the net, did not even see big billy jump,i swear my ribs are still sore 53 years later from my uncle packy hugging me,,another true story👍

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

£4m for Rogic is madness. Just goes to show how value is reduced by a manager “simply not fancying” a player.

Injury prone, maybe. He was pretty regular under BR who saw the player we all did. His injuries were mainly under managers who didn’t.

big packy

JIM, is having terrible trouble logging on, he has tried umpteen times, i suggested running cc cleaner to clear the cache but he has done that, he is now going to reboot his modem ,and see if that works🙏

A never to be forgotten moment in our history.
