Another 3 points

After the team went a took an important three points, I hope you will forgive this rambling fool for giving you three points of his own, regarding those three points.

1,,, I had previously admitted that it must be a very hard job being our manager, and if any further example were needed simply look at the last two weeks.

I could easily find you “Lenny out” posts online, same old back wards and sideways so switch manager now to save the ten.

Couple signings which completed the new look spine, allied with a statement performance, and the majority of online chat was we could go top of table Saturday, already counting games against lower teams as automatic wins.
That’s the mark of a good team btw, so did 14 days, two blokes and five goals calm us all down, or is it down to the fact we seen a level of performance much more inline with what we believe we should be seeing given our stature and resources?
It’s the latter in my humble opinion.
This tells me a few things.

Lennys and his team are not a one trick pony in that what you see is what you get.
He has shown he can and will switch formation and or tactics if and when needed. We have evidence.
I think we can all learn here in that hard as it may seem a poor performance doesnt mean we are a poor team. Perhaps a poor performance is exactly that. They do happen.
In hitting five the players gave a statement, theres no split in the camp and we are in it to win it. A left back arriving will only increase the pressure on the hunted.
So maybe we all need to trust more?
Looks like they have earned it, no?

2,,,Our teams physique.
I look at the lads lining up and it’s hard to not think Neil has copied the Martin template here. 3 giants at the back, battlers in midfield, pace on the wings, special talent upfront.
We arent getting bullied at the back now I believe it’s fair to say.
The reputed incoming left back is a speed merchant, so is Frimpong.
Agathe and Petta clones?
Now Lenny admitted 2 up top is his preferred formation, we know the bhoys on the wing have something to aim at.
Not only are we finding our stride and confidence, but we are about to add a new option with the skin him and cross, which we used to see with MON and the above named players.
For better or worse, it’s clear to me Neil has decided to copy many of his former mentors traits, and I’m delighted at that as one who holds Martin in the highest regard.
If he can bring half his old boss’ mentality, we will do well.

3,,, The Hunted.
If you think our fanbase is jittery, imagine what our rival support are going through having grabbed the summit position early.
The pressure is all on them to stop the Champions, but yet losing top spot early, as will happen if we stay on track, will only serve to demoralise our rivals and their support.
Their manager has never crossed the rubicon.
We are finding stride in what should be a marathon not sprint.

Seeing as we are not the ones claiming superiority in song or mentality, should we vie for top spot every week, a dogged opponent who just will not drop points, then heading into the big derby game the pressure should sit far more upon our rivals shoulders having been unable to tear away and seen the summit slide from their grasp. We keep the pace, do our own thing, and that game will take care of itself.
Now we look equipped and determined,
others can worry about us, not the other way around.

The above by Mahe.

3 good comments and listening to Big John on Celtic TV is really enjoyable, there was a Saint Martin player. He gives a good professionals view of what is and is not happening Last week he said Celtic need a stand still guy in the box not someone who is running all over the place. On comes Ajeti posts himself in the area and gets a goal. John made sure we all watched the replay and what happens when you have a poacher camped in the box
It reminds me when I played Center Half sacrificing my body all game my buddy the laziest player I ever met but give him one kick of the ball and it was a goal
Hopefully in Ajeti we have that predator who even when we are playing shite gives us the goals that win championships

Morning Mahe.

Always find it incredible when fans say Lenny is “Tactically inept” a Celtic manager with a higher win % than any manger in our history. And I think you’ll find most of his detractors have never played a game of five-a-side 😁 The fact he drives the Zombies to distraction, is just an added bonus!

Will give me massive pleasure if Neil is the man to deliver the title.

Awe Naw,
Southall is brilliant when it comes to highlighting social injustice and discrimination his Twitter feed makes for interesting reading.

Good article Mahe. After the CL exit the amount of people wailing for Lennon’s head was bonkers. We all get emotional when we take a sore one but the amount of people pishing their frillies was embarrassing. NL and the players are not exempt from criticism but too many fans are full of self entitlement and have to realise that we will have poor perfomances and we’ll get beat

September 15, 2020 8:19 am

Good article Mahe.
Agree 100% with everything written there. I believe we will see two high scoring Celtic wins in the next 5 days, therefore, will be top of the league by Saturday night. I also believe we will still be top of the league on Sunday night, after Hibernian beat the over hyped huns at Easter Road on Sunday. This mob have been overhyped by SMSM beyond recognition.
They have two very good players in their team, Barisic and Roofe, and a decent one in that wee banjo playing Kent.
Barisic, however, is the only one who would get a start in our team. A truly top quality left back.
Roofe is a vast improvement on Morelos, but not better than Albian Ajeti, who very much reminds me of a superstar from my childhood ‘Der Bomber’ Gerd Müller. Hopefully AA scores as many goals for Celtic, as Der Bomber scored for Bayern München.
Reckon we will destroy the Ibrox mob next month, and Gerrard will be gone by Christmas.
10 in a row, will be in the bag by then.
Get us the Flying Dutchman Bakker, play him and his Dutch compatriot Jeremie Frimpong as wing backs, and we are Flying.

Regarding James Bond theme discussion.
This song by the dearly departed too early, Chris Cornell is my favourite by quite a distance.

September 15, 2020 8:37 am

Prefer this Chris Cornell cover version to the original by GnR. What a voice CC had.

I agree about Barisic, he’s a good player. Mr Deliverance is a bit hit and miss, he’s idolised by the huns for throwing a half arsed punch at Brown. Seven million shekels, nah, aff ther nuts.

Jimmy Page was the session guitarist on the famous modification of Monty Normans original. Still the best. No Bond without that tune

Loved that 😊👍
Would love to hear you do Patience by Guns & Roses, in a Chris Cornell style.
Would suit you sir. 👌

Nothing to fear from the hun.
Love the way they are overhyped, will just make their fall all the harder.
“They’ll be jumping oot their windies when we win!” 😉

The Yeti’s goal was indeed a blast from the past, and I said as much in my match review yesterday. To have the ball delivered deep into the box, with SIX Ross Co defenders, ball drops, bang.

That’s deadly predatory stuff,no messing.

September 15, 2020 9:36 am

The Neville Southall article is stunning, and all the more so for it needing to be said. Shouldn’t what he spends his life pursuing be simply accepted anyway? Never mind giving the fella a knighthood, just listen to him and follow his suggestions.

September 15, 2020 9:42 am

Had I written that,I may see a tenuous connection to The Bond Theme. But,I’d be too embarrassed to own up to the original in court.

That was cringeworthy.

September 15, 2020 9:48 am

Lyrically yes, a bit of a cringe.
The tune was excellent, sounded like a Jimmy Page, George Harrison collaboration.

That Ajax game,I don’t think I’ve ever seen Danny get ripped as much as he did that night. Of course it was a makeshift defence, which didn’t help. At the time,Big Roy who was only about 22yo,was a major question mark for some of our support. He was absent that night, and as I pointed out at the time, that should put the question to bed.

Soren Lerby,Jan Molby and Jesper Olsen in particular tore us a new one as we got battered 2-2. I think it was maybe the most wonderful game I’ve seen when Celtic haven’t won. But the star of the show really was Johann Cruyff, strolled it. Even if he did blot his copybook by showing Tommy Burns-who for all his great abilities, wasn’t known as the best tackler-how to really make an arse of a tackle. Penalty, and 1-1.

I think we applauded Ajax off the pitch that night, that’s how good they were, and how much we enjoyed the game.

Sneaked up the stairs of the Barrowland one night on the way home from town, thinking we’d see a free concert, only to get a shock when we realised it was Alvin and his white glove, so we went back out faster than we’d come in!

Love the Barrowland.

Bobby, I think my dad regretted taking me, as I never shut up about them, or the fact id just saw Cruyff as a ten year old. Also will never forget listening to the return leg on the radio in a house in Brigton, with the only Tic fan I knew, then straight out to play under the street lights, kidding ourselves we had the skills of Lerby, Molby and Olsen(I followed his whole career afterwards) always had a bit of a soft spot for them and their strip.

A never to be forgotten night.

Cheers, mucker. I sometimes think I’m the only fella who remembers that game with the same level of fondness! And then, naw, someone else in the group will mention it when we are reminiscing about great memories.

That night is definitely one of mine. Maybe not Danny’s though!

September 15, 2020 11:17 am

Was at both Ajax games in 1982.
The return leg in Amsterdam was my first European away game.
Was high as a kite in Olympic stadium Amsterdam. Not just down to my Coffeeshop purchase that I smoked during the match. 😉

September 15, 2020 11:33 am

Garry, Amsterdam? or Amsterdoodle as I call it!
I remember getting approached a few times in Dam Square to buy funny tobacco. I politely declined.
The red light district is a laugh. I never participated in any shape or form, I promise!
Me and my mate were at a night club, at around 3am I was dog tired and wanted to go ‘home’. My mate was still well up for it so I left on my own. Only to be held up by two Asian guys who dragged me down a side street. Punched me a couple of times and emptied my pockets, stole my watch. I felt lucky that was all that happened! After that i started keeping my £notes in my socks at night!

Garry, one of those nights when you have your cake and eat it!? 😉 I think I may have topped that by going to Hampden after
taking 100 shrooms, only to witness Celtic lose 4-2 to Motherwell in the SCsf. Jeez, I can still vividly remember Colin O’Neil’s howitzer, as I was right behind it.

A mental night all round 😊

Celebrated with a lovely African lady in the Red Light district.

My big sis went to Amsterdam 5 year ago with her man to see tulips and clogs and cheese etc. She was walking through Dam Square when this Asian guy comes up to her and says “pppssshhht Charlie” my sister said immediately to him “Our Charlie ?” luckily for her her husband took her by the waist and quickly escorted her away. She associated the whole toon with me as me and a mate rented a flat just off the dam square for 5 years. 87 -92 We used to go up there in the late eighties every second weekend just to have fun and load the VCR with 3 x 8 hour long tapes to record MTV. Load up and go back down to Frankfurt.
