Another 3 points
After the team went a took an important three points, I hope you will forgive this rambling fool for giving you three points of his own, regarding those three points.
1,,, I had previously admitted that it must be a very hard job being our manager, and if any further example were needed simply look at the last two weeks.
I could easily find you “Lenny out” posts online, same old back wards and sideways so switch manager now to save the ten.
Couple signings which completed the new look spine, allied with a statement performance, and the majority of online chat was we could go top of table Saturday, already counting games against lower teams as automatic wins.
That’s the mark of a good team btw, so did 14 days, two blokes and five goals calm us all down, or is it down to the fact we seen a level of performance much more inline with what we believe we should be seeing given our stature and resources?
It’s the latter in my humble opinion.
This tells me a few things.
Lennys and his team are not a one trick pony in that what you see is what you get.
He has shown he can and will switch formation and or tactics if and when needed. We have evidence.
I think we can all learn here in that hard as it may seem a poor performance doesnt mean we are a poor team. Perhaps a poor performance is exactly that. They do happen.
In hitting five the players gave a statement, theres no split in the camp and we are in it to win it. A left back arriving will only increase the pressure on the hunted.
So maybe we all need to trust more?
Looks like they have earned it, no?
2,,,Our teams physique.
I look at the lads lining up and it’s hard to not think Neil has copied the Martin template here. 3 giants at the back, battlers in midfield, pace on the wings, special talent upfront.
We arent getting bullied at the back now I believe it’s fair to say.
The reputed incoming left back is a speed merchant, so is Frimpong.
Agathe and Petta clones?
Now Lenny admitted 2 up top is his preferred formation, we know the bhoys on the wing have something to aim at.
Not only are we finding our stride and confidence, but we are about to add a new option with the skin him and cross, which we used to see with MON and the above named players.
For better or worse, it’s clear to me Neil has decided to copy many of his former mentors traits, and I’m delighted at that as one who holds Martin in the highest regard.
If he can bring half his old boss’ mentality, we will do well.
3,,, The Hunted.
If you think our fanbase is jittery, imagine what our rival support are going through having grabbed the summit position early.
The pressure is all on them to stop the Champions, but yet losing top spot early, as will happen if we stay on track, will only serve to demoralise our rivals and their support.
Their manager has never crossed the rubicon.
We are finding stride in what should be a marathon not sprint.
Seeing as we are not the ones claiming superiority in song or mentality, should we vie for top spot every week, a dogged opponent who just will not drop points, then heading into the big derby game the pressure should sit far more upon our rivals shoulders having been unable to tear away and seen the summit slide from their grasp. We keep the pace, do our own thing, and that game will take care of itself.
Now we look equipped and determined,
others can worry about us, not the other way around.
The above by Mahe.
