Hooteanannies, strangers, and the occasional WTF!
I think The Hootennany has become “A THING” over the years, but I only actually thought it might be a good thing if someone could maybe get a few of us to meet up and have a few beers, get to know each other.
It was actually HAMILTONTIM who did the work,I only turned up around 6pm and met Franny,THEBARCAMOLE. He and I hit it off right away. It happens sometimes. The rest of the crew are friends to this day-I hope!-and LENNYBHOY on hearing that I’d been awake since 10pm the previous evening due to work schedules even walked me back to my hotel at two in the morning!
Thems friends. That was the whole point really of getting a few people together who cyber-connected but didn’t really know each other. A lot of them did of course but most of us didn’t. We’ve all leaned over a bar to grab the drinks and gone-sure he was in here last week-but what can be better than getting to know who is quicker than you at getting a round in?
I’ve converted a number of people who would never in a month of Sundays thought of supporting Celtic to,well, the right path. It’s been difficult for them on many occasions, and I’ve taken a good few too from our side who might otherwise have turned their back due to lack of opportunity.
And SOLKITTS and I took ATHINGOFBEAUTY to her first game, which though long overdue, created a monster!
Haw,Neil. See the morra. Taking the wee yin up. WTF,she’ll never keep up wi us. She’ll keep up fine. She did. 11yo and just desperate to see Celtic.
I think we are all desperate to see Celtic now. It’s all right for us expats who only see the lads-and my pals from the hootenanny-every so often, but there are 60000 people who go there practically every chance they can.
Because they’ve already paid for the ticket! And they usually meet up with friends before the game, after the game, and a long chat at half time with old or…
New acquaintances at half time.
Or even in various pubs before or after the game. No longer a-I’m sure I saw him a couple of weeeks ago!-naw,meet up via the Hootenanny and get the beers in. Same as we did when we were kids. The guy in front of you at the bar wasn’t a dick for doing it,he was a guy you wanted to know.
As a rule…
This site is having a few minor log-in problems at the moment,as my mate explained to me in Oxford yesterday. It will be sorted. Because MAHE and I didn’t set this site up to make US look good. The site is for you folks to nail your opinions,so please bear with us.
