Celtic 2 – 0 Aberdeen

Morning,all.

It would be wrong to say that all is well in the world of the Celtic fan. But we took a massive step yesterday to what was once known as an unprecedented quadruple. Yes,that was when the huns were going for four trophies, overlooked the fact that we had won five in 1967 and four in 1969. You know what they’re like by now.

Make it up as they go along, basically.

One thing they can’t make up is that yesterday’s result puts us in line for, well,an unprecedented quadruple. That’s a quadruple of trebles. I know, takes a bit of getting your head round. But a few days before Christmas we face Hearts with the chance to win our TWELVE consecutive trophy, and a fourth consecutive trophy.

This site has never been slow to attempt to point out the inconsistencies and worse in our performances this season, nor at various times beforehand. But it is difficult to use the word inconsistency to a side going for its twelfth trophy in a row.

In truth,we seldom looked under pressure yesterday bar the first few minutes. Once we put a marker down,it was all over midway through the first half. Firstly,Ryan Christie curled in a worldie to the top corner and a few minutes later Rogic sent one in from the left for Mo-who seems to have come on to a game lately and long may it continue!-to header home at the far post.

We could have added to our score then, but maybe took our foot off the gas in the second half. I’ve not got too much of a problem with that. It put a bit more pressure on our defence, aye, but the much maligned lads stood strong-and that will do them a power of good. And once again, they seemed to have faith in their keeper. And with good reason.

But we still pushed, and while a goal for the opposition would have brought them back into it,frankly even playing within ourselves a third looked more likely from us. It was the kind of performance-even on my dodgy stream!-which many of us take for granted and have been desperate for all season.

Yesterday it arrived. Yesterday we were sound all over the pitch. Yesterday might have been the day we have been waiting for,the day we announced that we are back, and that we know what needs to be done.

Yesterday was what I’ve been waiting for. Welcome back,Celtic.

Morning all
When did the sheep score twice yesterday 🤔🤔

Big Audio Dynamite

Wednesday replay at Hampdump?

Noel Skytrot

I’ve not saw any of the Lennon Out brigade on social media this weekend, I wonder why? We’re 90 minutes away from doing something that will never, ever be matched, simply outstanding. If we match up with the huns in terms of winning our league games and win the two outstanding the pressure is on them and they don’t do pressure too well. It’s on.

Cosy Corner Bhoy

That’s what you get with dodgy anything’s! They never do what it says on the tin😁!
Still, it means another libation or two in Neeson’s on Wednesday but I don’t know how we will cope with two games in two days😁😁😁.

OOOOPS,MISPRINT IN THE TITLE!

But yeez know the score…

Garry

Great performance yesterday. Diego Laxalt is a genuine world class performer. He has helped raise the game of others around him, especially Moi Elyounoussi. The two of them on our left are dynamic. Our Wizard of Oz is back to his best. Thought Tom Rogic was sensational yesterday. Hopefully all Tims in our support, unite and fully support Neil and The Bhoys now.

Yes,we looked much more up for a fight-and that might be down to Diego wanting to know what a win bonus looked like! And even though our midfield and front line seemed heavilly left-footed,the side certainly didn’t lack balance.

We went out fired up,killed the game in the first half and snuffed them out afterwards. Kept a bit in the tank for the two games next week. I’d say that Europe is a lowly fourth priority behind the three domestic trophies this season-Fifth if you account for last season’s Scottish Cup final still to come-but if we can win our next two games in Europe while Milan do the same,we can probably go into the Lille game with a very good shout of qualifying.

It’s about keeping the momentum going to the last, and we might actually be building some now-ask me this time next week!

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

BADABING

That sounds fair to me,but the chances of it happening are fairly low. No doubt, the internal action by the huns will be deemed sufficient.

McCaff

Edmundson and Jones! And it was last night so they’ve not been in contact with other staff so as Bobby says that’ll be the end of that then!!🤔🤨🤫

Garry

BMCUW
I also thought that Duffy and Bitton played well together. Bitton’s composure, apart from one brain fart moment, allowed Duffy to do what he does best. Scott Brown always plays better with Tom Rogic in our team too. My only worry is Calmac. Hopefully he finds a bit of form soon. I am sure he will. Fancy us taking 6 points against Sparta. Time to go on a winning run up until Christmas and beyond. 🍀💚

PAY ATTENTION ALL YOU NON BELIEVERS IN NEIL AND THE TEAM

Rebus67

Noel,

If you think that 2 losses, 1 draw and 1 win in the last four games is an adequate performance for a Celtic manager, then you will still be happy when the club appoint a lesser manager than NL.

My negative views of the current manager are not based on one, two or three consecutive games. Let’s see how costly that home loss to Sevco is, come the end of the season. However, like you I am pleased that we are in another final.

Apologies for the article name blooper which I am pinning on a Russian troll farm ordered by Putin himself to discredit the finest, most true Celtic blog out there and it’s collection of merry men who bleed green and white.
We shall overcome comrades!

We are doing better, of that there is little doubt, but it would be crazy to say we are the finished article. Lot of work to do. There’s still time to turn it around though, but it will take everything we’ve got.

Dug walk time.

From experience of being a father of four. Listen to wee F. She is telling you that something is not right. Get a GP appointment for her mate. Hope all ok though.

A thing of beauty

Garry,
Cmon. You might choose to ignore what is in front of your eyes but if others, like myself choose to look at things objectively rather than through green tinted specs it shouldn’t place a question mark over our celtic supporting credentials. I remind you that you thought we would beat sevco 4/0 when everything about our performances leading up to that plus the fact that our showings in the last three games against them said otherwise. It suggests you want to believe everything is rosy and criticism of neil Lennon is not allowed. Can you tell me if that is true and if so why?

CaltonTongues

Good Late Afternoon All,

Noel Skytrot

Rebus,
I was referring to the Twitterati not you as an individual or anyone else on here. Christ, I can’t remember what i’ve read and by whom an hour ago never mind in previous posts. I respect all posters on here and their opinions. I might not agree but that’s the beauty of this site and respectful debate when needed. HH

timhorton

Diego Laxalt has some engine,frightening.

Garry

I do not think everything is rosy yet. I was brought up to support our manager and players at all times. My parents taught me that was what Celtic supporters role was. I read more criticism of our manager and players on here, than I hear from huns I know. It does my head in. I appreciate that you strive for perfection. That will never be possible, playing in the SPFL, for many reasons. Casting up my 4-0 prediction, is a below the belt blow. It was the worst Celtic performance I have witnessed in my life. Neil will not allow that type of performance to happen again, I believe. I will give him and the players 100% backing, till they leave Celtic.

A thing of beauty

Garry,
Like you I have been brought up to support the team and the manager and never to boo celtic but that is when I’m at the game. I was also brought up to say things as I see them hence my criticism of the team and the manager. You say my reference to your prediction of the game against sevco was below the belt. I apologise if I offended you but I brought it up as to highlight the complete disconnect from the reality of the teams performance in how you (and others) thought the game would end. We had seen before with Ferencvaros that a team operating at a half decent level would beat us and prior to the game against sevco we had scraped past st Mirren, livi and st Johnstone as well as dropping points at killie. Surely you must have had concerns. All this keep the faith, something inside so strong stuff sells us short as a club and gives us the current situation we find ourselves in. Behind a club that is 8 years old and 3 years ago had a turnover of around a third of our club. This is a forum for celtic supporters to air their views. Plenty of other sites and podcasts were saying the same things about the team and the manager. It’s healthy debate and there is nothing wrong with that. Cheerleading is for the Gerry McSherrys of this world and as you know if we’d have listened to him A Mr Kelly would be in charge at celtic Park which would be situated somewhere near cambuslang.

Oglach

“One swallow doesn’t make a summer” or to put in another way a couple of good performances for 45 mins of 2 games doesn’t mean we are in anyway ‘out of the woods’ as we have been utter rubbish for most of this season – an undisputable fact. If we are honest and critically appraise our last 2 games just as there was much to be very pleased about there was also a fair bit to remain concerned about. Criticism of Lenny over how the team has performed as well as his baffling tactics and team selections were warranted as was questioning his ability to deliver 10IAR. The questions still remain valid – it is up to him and the team to prove supporters like me are / were wrong to worry.
As for unconditional support of anything – can’t say i agree with that – imo it’s akin to stating “My country right or wrong” and we all know where that leads.

Craig 76

Unique angle footage of yesterday’s goals is out on the clubs Twitter feed if you have not seen them yet. Sorry cant do the link thing 😀

The Scottish Government commended Rangers for “taking such swift and decisive action in this instance, to protect the rest of their squad and the wider public” 🤔

Reading constant criticism of the Celtic manager and players on a Celtic site is not for me. The negativity on here does my head in at times. Very tiring.

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

GARRY

I rarely read it as negativity, just pointing out some deficiencies that we would all like to be eradicated. Constructive criticism is why teams improve, not by sitting back until it is too late.

Much like our repeated requests to call out the referees for their double standards when it comes to us,we should be doing that when we win.

Mahe

Garry,
Re constant negativity, Not saying you’re wrong or right, I don’t think it’s that bad myself, but I would say at least we are all just honest Johns typing from the heart, with no thoughts of popularity, hits or drama to boost ratings, merely calling it how we see it.
Surely honest opinion is of interest to other fans?
Detractors – ATOB, Fan, Rebus maybe couple others.
Most want Lenny to succeed imo.

I certainly do, have not called for his head, but worry about Eddy alone upfront as that would have cost us last year’s title if we persisted with it imo.

It reads as constant negativity to me. My interpretation of other posters words. I realise where we have problems. I prefer not to read some of the vitriol directed towards our manager and players by some of the posters on here. They may be correct, but I can choose not to read the negativity. It brings my mood down, and I can do without that negativity in my life just now.

big packy

dont all shout out at once, ive missed my best mate on here where is he,😍

this might be a true story or not, i went to shotts once and it was open, true or false,😍

I need to maintain a Positive Mental Attitude.
The negativity on here drains that from me.
I honestly believe we have a great manager and set of players. I also believe that we will kick on and win everything this season.

It’s usually closed Packy. (HMP Shotts)

A thing of beauty

Garry,
If we had a great manager he would not have lost his job at Bolton and Hibs. He would Know about all the stuff in BR’s drawer, he would coach the team into a shape and put a greater store by tactics. He would not take players on four day jollies before we play sevco and would not keep telling us we have been brilliant every week when we have been kack. Great celtic man – yes. Great manager – hmmm

A thing of beauty

Anyway Garry, we disagree as we have done many times on here and in person. The last thing I wish to do is bring you down. I’d hate that. Hopefully you will be right and I will be wrong and come May there will be nothing in this world that will bring you down. If that’s the case we are defo going to get together and celebrate properly. You with your Mary Jane and me With my cup of tea

Mahe

G,
I tell you what if Lenny goes on to take this title it would be up there with the sweetest of my supporting career.
WGS last one was so effing sweet being 8 behind to Walter, but this would be against all odds totally written off sweet.
I sincerely hope you’re right, I’m sure we all do.

Hail Hail

I agree with Garry that it can be wearisome here & on other Celtic sites when we have a start to the season like we have just had. The problem is there is much truth in what many posters are saying. That’s what makes it depressing.
On the bright side, I said on Thursday, I think we have turned a corner. Onwards & upwards!

big packy

OK lets talk celtic, yes i was shouting from the rafters yesterday when we drew 2-2 with aberdeen, but im going to stick my neck out and say we will win the replay 2-0 😍 now this is a true story, the first time I heard obladi oblada was in the beach ballroom in aberdeen, dont know if it was the beatles version or the marmalade version, but i was only seventeen drinking coca cola, and the burds were swarming around me, dont know why, till one burd said i looked like victor mature, where coincidentally my late father was also mistaken for victor, think its in the croy genes, as in croy dumbartonshire ,where all the great tims lived, well my dad was born and bred there, and also a former celtic great ,forgotten his name, but JIMTHETIM53 knows him😍

rebus67

Noel,

I am with you in that I cannot remember what others post 1/2 hour after I have read it!

Mahe, I agree all want the best for Celtic. I respect other opinions, and, more importantly, I respect the right of all to express their views, albeit, different from my own. In order for there to be a spark, both the flint and the stone are necessary!

There does seem to be a tone in the Celtic blogoshere suggesting that to critiique NL is counterproductive at this time. Perhaps, that is the response of the club to the concerns expressed by some on the manager’s performance and apparent attitude on the touchline, I do not know. However, if there are issues, keeping quiet about them will not make them go away.

I want both Celtic and NL to succeed, and one cannot happen without the other,
