Get ready for it,,,

Now that we have passed the halfway mark with a sizeable gap separating us from the leaders, everytime someone or indeed anyone within the domestic game registers a positive Covid-19 test, get ready for someone to bring it up,,

“Curtail!”

With Scottish football, or more implicitly everyone but Her Majesty’s favourite team, on a yellow card, after the next high profile breach look out for it to be screamed by all but especially the forth estate, in what would be a tacit form of support.

And now we have managers within the biggest league in the world saying this is wrong, football should be halted for safety reasons, which serves to strengthen the hand of the above who will gladly hide behind faux public safety when suits, yet we don’t hear much for the safety of those on the receiving end of many an agricultural tackle up north which goes unreported and to often uncarded.

In fairness, I doubt any of us would complain should we see our title handed over as let’s face it they’re going to win the league. I’m thinking a straw poll of supporters, realising the above, would probably prefer to just end this season from hell happily foregoing the remaining ‘torture’.

I would posit any signings made would peak some interest, but if the Park was open would expect to hear of 30k crowds ala Ronnie and the Closed Top Tiers (their second album was the best – badoom tish) towards the tail of this campaign assuming all stays as is.

So prepare for phone in shows and drive time radio stations to give airtime to those in favour of curtailing but especially Celtic fans. Expect the topic to become a hot potato on blogs with the ‘until it’s mathematically impossible’ brigade yelling no way while the rest say ‘take it’.
“It went your way last year!” the shock jocks (pardon the pun) will rightly point out, but there was no vaccine in sight then and calling it was genuinely done with safety in mind.
That won’t be the case for everyone yelling it this time. And somehow I don’t see our board rocking the boat on this decision.
‘Bitterly disappointed but ultimately supporter safety must come first’ will more than likely be the message and I would reply if you’re going to talk of safety upon fans return there better be hand sanitizer freely available and or soap and hot water available in all toilets at all times.
Can’t have it both ways.

As for our title rivals, having covered up one major breach, should they discover another would close things down, would you put it past them to leak one, preferably someone else of course. The hacks are on sniffer dog mode I reckon.

If it goes down it goes down, won’t change my outlook, and I believe many here would feel the same. But mark my words watch the campaign emerge, go from snowball to avalanche rapidly backed up by every Tom, Dick, and Harry,,then be phrased as for the best all around.

Curtail will soon be the cry.

We went to Bremen on the Motherwell 9 in a row bus which left from a pub near the train station (someone familiar with Motherwell will hopefully enlighten me on the name of the pub). The day the bus was leaving we were in the pub getting a few beers before the journey to Germany when the local CID came in and asked if anyone of us would be willing to take part in an ID parade. They said it wouldn’t take long and we would get Β£5 for it. Well at the time we didn’t have a lot of cash and we thought it would be a laugh so duly agreed. The polis drove us to the local nick and put us in a line up for the ID parade. Straight away the accuseds brief objected to a few of my mates who were wearing Celtic tops πŸ€” Apparently the offence took place in a local Masonic hall 😜 Anyhoo I was left and they brought in the witnesses and one after another they picked me out which was strange as I looked feck all like the accused. By this time my arse was making buttons and I was sweating like a mad man. After the ID parade finished the accused and his brief shook my hand and the cops took me aside and asked my whereabouts on the night of the said offence. Thank feck I was at least 50 miles away at the time. You can imagine the response I got from the Polis when I asked for a lift back to pub πŸ˜‚ I managed to make it back to the pub for a swift 🍺 before the 🚌 left. And that was just the start of a mental trip with The Motherwell 9 in a row HH πŸ€

Saw Howard Marks lecture in Oran Mor, Byres Road, Glasgow about 10 years ago. Very charismatic, clever man. He said that the only drug dealer in the world, he couldn’t compete with was, George Bush Senior. 😜

Jeez now I do feel old.
66 – 70 was my time.

I lived in East Kilbride, close to Hairmyres when I was at HC.
With that age gap I suspect that she wouldn’t be the girl I knew.
She’d be like me – a senior/oap, but it could be a relative.
Cheers though

G64- I phoned every fire station in Bremen a few weeks before it,our station bill was extortionate, I got tickets for the main stand for 3 of us,all with short sleeved Hoops tops on,much to the delight of the locals, but they were brilliant, at giving us a German mulled wine from their hip flasks throughout, could write a book about that trip.

1989 Scottish Cup Final – After leaving Hampden in a euphoric state I was heading back to Ruggy up Prospecthill Road when this bus passes beside me with its back window panned in. The traffic was crawling so for a jape I jumped on the back of the bus at which point the traffic started moving so I couldn’t get off till it slowed down again. I made it all the way to the Burnhill and thanked the bhoys for the lift only to find right behind me was a van load of the Queens finest who duly huckled me and done me for a road traffic offence πŸ€” To be fair after 6 hours in the Ruglen cells they released me in time for a few beers before shutting πŸ€

Garry,
No specific name but I want a coach who has shown an upward trajectory, certainly for most of his career and someone who is educated in modern methods ie the use of sports science and analytics which have been an increasing influence for some years now at top clubs. I also want a coach who improves players as I believe that now a days a player views himself as self employed. They will not stay at a club or perform at a club where they are not personally improving and they think their career is stalling.
I also want a coach who will not accept being a puppet for Peter lawwell because he knows he won’t get a job anywhere else.
I want the very best coach celtic can afford. When we appoint quality everything else falls into place. When we appoint the cheap option everything falls to pieces. If Dermot Desmond can’t see that then he should sell up because he’s clearly lost interest.
