The New Normal?

Morning,all.

Tonight sees the return of football to the screens of the Celtic support with sadomasochistic tendencies. The year ended badly for us on and off the pitch, and the new one has,if anything, been worse! We have effectively surrendered our cherished league title, and carelessly abandoned any hold we had on the moral high ground. Our ill-intentioned trip to summer camp saw to that, allowing a rent-a-quote First Minister to put the boot in just at a time when she was under fire herself for breaching covid restrictions, not to mention” irregularities” in her part in the prosecution of her predecessor.

Never give a sucker an even break, but it seems to be the one thing that Celtic still excel at. And it seems that we are happy to play fast and loose with our favours too. Got a problem? That’s fine. Celtic will shoot themselves in the foot again, take the pressure off you. That’s what happens when you don’t have a proper PR representation,as many of us have been warning of for years.

Much of this would matter little,if only our footballing side of things wasn’t such a shambles. And it is. Look at it-who is our first-choice goalkeeper? Does anyone know for sure? Or have implicit trust in the same way that we had for a blissful fourteen years from the arrival of The Holy Goalie? Four goalkeepers, whose combined fees were half of what we paid for the current one,and if I’m honest I would take Artur back even now!

Our star player is playing upfront and we are watching a flowering talent wilt before our eyes. With players of enormous talent-and value!-benched and out the picture, and the only bright spots being previously ignored lads in midfield, both barely out of their teens.

Yet our famously unreliable backline has the biggest problems. Taylor isn’t as rated by most as I think he deserves to be,and that alone must be affecting his confidence. Laxalt is a terrific player, clearly supremely fit,but cannot provide a final ball. Not helped of course, that their forward connection,Mo,doesn’t think football is a team game. Right back is even worse-as we don’t have one! Elhamed doesn’t want to be here,Ralston has as much chance of making it at Celtic as I have, and Frimpers is being used further forward to cover an area criminally exposed by playing James Forrest while he had a stress fracture.

And then there is our central defence. Or Kris Ajer,as it is better known. Another player who would prefer to be elsewhere, and doesn’t even enjoy playing at centre back. In fairness to him,his performances have been excellent despite that. But who do we have to partner him, whether as a two or a three? Bitton, suspended, and not even a good midfielder. Jullien, out for the season. Welch, inexperienced and not up to scratch-yet,at least. And Duffy, who is just the most unlikely bomb scare ever, but sadly that is what he is. So one more injury away from disaster.

And with less than three weeks of the transfer window left-one made more complicated by Brexit, but known about in advance-our footballing department, our recruitment department, are showing no sign of doing their jobs in these vital areas. We have a lame duck manager,yes-but he is in charge of a lame duck football team. And he is controlled, like the rest of the entire company is controlled,by a lame duck director of everything except accepting responsibility. Or delegating it.

Get used to life in the slow lane? We can only dream of such heady days.

Not sure what all the fuss is with Mikey J. This “boy” is 21, so not a boy. He is as Lightweight as he was when he came into the team over two years ago. There’s no excuse for that. All professionals should get tailored programs so either he’s not following his or he’s never going to muscle up.
As for the defence, fair comment that it could have been cleared but hazard flaps like a four man tent with the zip broken. He needs to be better.

Might as well continue with a lot of these youngsters they attacked and tried to the end. What was the difference between hibs foul given at the end and celtic pen not given earlier, answer no difference and again ref didn’t hesitate to give it. We will start getting these decisions now the job is done, seen it all before.

Sums up the season.
Never quite good enough to get over the finish line.
See if some of those youngsters had a little more experience we would have not had the same fear.
Hazard needs to learn that he won’t get the call when bumped and jostled in a Celtic shirt like he did when on loan and has to be more aggressive when balls in the air and take ball and man.
Young Welsh played well as did Duffy.
We needed Rogic and McGregor to show leadership to the youngsters but neither did.
Our midfield shape looked off and i felt Johnson was in no mans land most of the time.
Great goal from Turnbull.
How did Gogic escape a caution? He constantly went through the back of our players and had a few fouls called as well.

bada bing1

Lennon said a few weeks ago,he was going to look at goals lost from corners, hows that coming along?

A thing of beauty

Agree about the fitness. Turnbull and Rogic were done after 60 Minutes. There needs to be questions about that. I wish this season was over. It’s been utterly pathetic.

Packy,

Don’t rate John, never have.

Well done the young lads who put on a brave show tonight in very trying circumstances. Little preparation. Team thrown together. Complicit officials.

But,
it doesn´t matter who is in charge of the team. Who plays. Who we are playing against

Yet,
we make the same mistake over and over and over again … it´s rife throughout the entire club

We become like Superman with a kilo of Kryptonite hung round his neck after scoring cos we know what´s coming; the complicity is going to increase and this young squad can´t handle it. It aint their war

so,
We give away needless freekicks. Why we know they are desperate to give anything?
We can’t handle crosses.
We can´t see a game out.

Forget admin events and possible catch ups.

We don’t have anyone tuned into what´s really happening. Which raises questions about the dugout.

Cornelius

“Just as we win all our remaining games and we’ll see how thi…what?
Oh FFS. You’re kidding me – what again, from a set piece…oh FFS and jebus
Right as I was saying as long as we win all our remaining games now & we’ll see how things play out.
There’s still a lot of football left to play in this league and…..”

Right, past my bedtime. I’m away to dream that peter and Neil ride off into the sunset together without a payoff as they are so ashamed of what they have brought to our club this season.

On one of Hibs earlier corners all our deep defenders were in six yard box but together on one side.
A backpost corner would have caused us problems but luckily they played it to the front.
It was pretty clear that everyone just chose their own position.
The camera from above showed the lack of communication between our players.
The lack of defensive organization and leadership is obvious.

McCaff

Just saw the replay and I hadn’t realised how badly Hazard flapped! Yeah, that was a shocker, but 3 international players on the line…at least one should be reacting quicker to the danger!
This was a no win game for Celtic regardless of the outcome; if they win it’s time to play the youngsters, if they lose or draw you blame the coaches for not playing them previously. IMO the game was played at a poor tempo, no urgency from either side. Welch and Duffy getting credit, I thought in the first half Welch just hit everything the way he was facing…upwards!! Duffy wasn’t under pressure for most of the game but got caught short a couple of times with his hand up for offside. Harper, Armstrong, Dembele, Frimpong…not enough from any of them. Rogic… going through the motions when he should be pulling out the stops to show the young team how to compete and win.
I disagree about Mikey…his pace and good feet, in the right setup, will cause teams problems. That was his first start in months and getting over a serious injury and for me he looked the most likely player to create something. Maybe if the ref has a grip on Gogic and we got the foils we shoulda got it would’ve been a different game!!
But heyho, were kinda getting used to this shit!!

But Gavins got a screen pad?
Maybe our coaches are confused and think it’s broken and keeps replaying the same goal?

So we are now reduced to the Führer bunker scenario. The Red army battering doon the door, we are reduced to using kids or believing that a non existent Wunder Waffe ( ie collapse of our foes) will save our defeated empire.

Has there ever been a time when so many incompetents were employed at Celtic Park?

Ever?

Directors
Management
Players
Coaches
Scouting staff

The place is fekkin riddled with incompetence. Every level.

Absolutely no point in dissection of where the team went wrong tonight. It was the same as last week. The month before that. The 3 months before that. The previous season before that.

The directors sit and watch it week in and week out. Hiding from the issues. In their own little bubbles if you’ll excuse the unfortunate analogy. Getting richer as the team get poorer.

Calling the season now would be most welcome for me. Get it over and done with now.

35 years in a row season ticket, I can’t support that manager if he’s still there

The club is now in free fall both on and off the park ..

The levels of incompetence are now getting scary ..

I’m with ATOB regarding Mickey J. Did nothing apart from being knocked off the ball – pretty much normal service apart from an odd goal or trick that comes off. Far too lightweight not enough heart imho

In fairness players need coaching.
There is no evidence of such since Neil returned.
Quite a few have regressed in his tenure.
Having an accountant in charge of recruitment is also a big reason for squad imbalance.
There is no forward planning ,tactics or squad rotation so players at least have the excuse of Neil and Lawwell’s mismanagement .

Rebus67

If I was being objective, a draw was the correct result for the game. Hibs look to have a good shape about them whereas, understandably, we looked as those we just met up before the game. Overall, Welsh played OK but tired badly towards the end. I thought he could have cleared the free kick that resulted in the goal but he fell down. Hazzard had a good game and will learn to handle the obstruction of strikers. Laxalt was good except for the foul. Frimpong has gone backwards alarmingly. He has zero final product now since he stopped going to the byline. Harper tried but it is too early for him. Oko flex looked promising but hardly got any service. Dembele and Henderson were hardly given a chance. Rogic was useless but had to be played because he had experience but he blew promising moves by losing the ball. McGregor was busy but not effective. He was played too far back. If that was supposed to be 4231 then I shall eat my hat. 433 was the shape that should have been played, given we had no recognised striker.

Best of the bunch Turnbull in patches, Hazzard with one exception, Laxalt ditto, Duffy, Soro.

Johnson needs a personal trainer who will work a Christie on him.

2021 has started with Bolingoli times 13. If any more test positive, the Dubai trip will go down as the biggest corporate blunder in living memory. So much for turning a corner!

Not looked at the fixtures but, knowing the way this season has gone, Sevco will probably win their first ever title against us 😡

TMS

Awe Naw

The calculations for the huns is whether they can sell players AND/VERSUS take the point hit of an admin event, beat us in March to win long before the split without quibble their 55th title and still qualify with a license for the CL.

Cosy Corner Bhoy

Have to agree with ATOB😁, but seriously, if Mikey Johnston wants to be a football player in this age he has to spend more time in the gym and less time practicing his ball skills. He is easily brushed aside for someone of his height. Young Frimpong gets knocked over easily as well but he is disadvantaged in stature. A defender he is not! Unfortunately, our senior players, in the main, failed to support the youngsters.
The season is now over. What to do now is of the utmost importance. A new broom is needed. Sweep out the detritus. PL to be the first. NFL the second, quickly followed by Messrs. Kennedy, Strachan and all others, with the exception of Steve Woods, though he’ll have his work cut out with Barkas and Hazard as pupils.
Say goodbye to 20-21, prepare for 21-22!

CaltonTongues

Awe Naw,

Can’t see the huns selling any first team players this window.

The Euro Licence, a scoosh.

TMS

Awe Naw

CT,

They would prefer not too also any possible admin event. That decision will depend more on the point difference come the last few days of the transfer window and what monies are on offer.

CaltonTongues

Awe Naw,

I’m sure it’s only 10 points for Admin now.

Even worse, if Liquidation, dump debt, Sevco 2 and can stay in PL.

Thems the new rules and probably explains the debt.

Surprised other teams aren’t doing this.

McGinn the right back for Hibs is a Celtic season ticket holder, like the rest of his family.
His dream is to play for Celtic, like his brothers John and Stephen. Paul now looking most likely. The hardest man in the family. A bit of a boxer in Clydebank. 😊

CaltonTongues

Garry,

I was impressed, nothing got by him tonight.
Could be the answer to RB problem.

CT,

I thought it was 15 and 5 off for next season but my memory is atrocious.

Garry

My sons and nephews tell me that Paul McGinn can fight like fuck. He has a bit of a reputation in the toon. Whether he is good enough for the only team he wants to play for?
Am no sure.
His wee brother John is. 😊

CaltonTongues

Awe Naw,

Can remember when the new rules came out. Was surprised very little was made of it. I’m sure there was debate re Admin on whether it would be the 1st or 2nd time for the huns as the points deductions were different. My memory says 10 & 15 but could be way out.

Garry,

As I’ve said before I’ve never rated John but Paul was impressive tonight.

TMS

Garry

CT
Paul was up against a wee weakling in Mikey.
Easy shift for a strong hard bhoy.

Garry

CT
I have watched John McGinn in Clydebank boys football with my sons and nephews, since he was 10. He was the best player of his age. Still is. The Bhoy is a Superstar. His next move will be a £50million transfer.

Awe Naw

CT,

15 and 5 first time. 25 and 10 for second one within a 5 year time period and all bets are off if it is a force de majeure. Which covid-19 will be presented and accepted as. So we know that as long as all football debts will be honored then FFP will be suspended. So the huns will be in the CL for sure. Incredible how all those OF ducks got lined up nicely in such a short space of time.Like never look a gift horse in the mouth, mask or no mask on. You’d almost be fooled into believing that this particular outcome has been very highly planned and choreographed since the decision to drop Resolution 12 and that the hun intransigence to calling the league last year was actually a big green squirrel.

Garry

Awe Naw
Not much in life happens by accident, compared to what is pre ordained by man.
Reckon you’re correct.

CaltonTongues

Garry,

Hope everything goes well for John but just my opinion.

Awe Naw,

Agree.

Re the huns and us, if we finish 2nd, in CL Qualifiers. We know how hard it is to qualify whereas they have qualified already it’s hun entitlement. Hope karma hits a 2nd time for them.

Time for bed now, night all and stay safe.

Just popped in to agree 100% with your post! Well said buddy!

The general outrage at Trump, fortified with 74 million voters….encouraging him – even although we know that there are plenty of decent Republican voters who abhor his antics…they felt he was the lesser of two evils.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…we have surprised folk, wondering why the wheels have come aff the bogey…in this season of all seasons!

As the Trust ( good word that) decide to charge fees to build shares to influence change – when did the paying members make the decision to withdraw support/park Res12? Or was that the New (branded) Committee that decided, in the best interests of the Trust ( did I already mention…)

The share price has taken a tumble … shares can be purchased legally …it’s in the ‘Articles’

I’ll bet it is, and that FCA rules are being followed… they probably are, and why not?

So, who might be selling these shares to the Trust ….and who benefits?

Does this remind you of anything?!
