Until the last rebel

Any movement or individual with Glasgow Celtics best interests at heart will get our support and are more than welcome here.
As such we were delighted to give our front page and support to Celts for Change 2021.

Perhaps it’s always been the next battle that’s the most important but throughout our unbroken 133 year history it’s hard to see past this being the biggest clash between support and board yet.
Both sets of fans who rioted after witnessing finals fixed as draws to provide money grabbing replays were always going to come back and support their team, that’s no longer a given.

Jock said if we knew the half of it we would burn the park down, well now we know the half of it.
If we don’t, what we do know is enough.

The cheating is multi faceted.
On the field of play the bigots with whistles stop to low levels every week. Why just this week a(nother) possible leg breaker by Roofe in what is basically a dead rubber against a team theres no particular Ill will for, but yet here we go again, rough house tactics. With the main striker out for the exact same, having garnered a reputation for it.

Off the field of play forgetting self sabotage, the SFA and Gov have really let the mask slip this season, emphasized by a Dundee United player actually playing after testing positive, but yet both clubs arent quarantined anywhere near our allotted punishment, despite our trip being approved of I’ll advised.
When one takes into account the birthday party coverup it’s clear theres one rule for Celtic and one for the rest.
https://news.stv.tv/sport/alexander-suspects-communication-breakdown-over-covid-rule-change?top

That’s not all though. Some of the highest offices of state themselves have been at best compromised and at worst complicit in the witchhunt that followed the death of the establishment club. The web is still untangling making it fully hard to comprehend at this point but the latest revelations surrounding the malicious prosecution of David Whitehouse (which included being treated worse than a terrorist by detectives whistling the billy boys) show just how murky the national ‘sport’ has become.
Please read this to see just how far the establishment were willing to go, which will end up costing the taxpayer another 50 million or so, and a (probably close to retirement) scapegoat his cosy position as is usually the way.

https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/news-special-insolvency-expert-david-whitehouse-vows-to-put-crown-office-in-the-dock-for-baseless-prosecution-over-rangers-takeover/

The national sport has plummeted, many would lay the blame at a certain knight of the realms door, but wondering how we got here isn’t going to help anything right now. Scottish football is officially a cesspool, probably the worst league in Europe that is about to get league titles claimed by about half the nation and disputed by the half with a brain.

Worst of all, our own club became ‘infected’,the rot surrounding us allowed to penetrate via the root of all evil, the love and lust of it filling the minds of those with the keys to the Park.

The triple choice mentioned by CFC2021 of accept, walk or rebel is very true, but given that almost every blog, podcast, supporter is very very unhappy with regards to the where the club finds itself right now and how exactly it tends to function, the percentage that would continue to financially support the PLC must be small.
With every ignored red card, other club not quarantined, every time 55 is broadcast unchallenged, acceptance of this farce becomes less and less of an option.
Accepting will lead to a half filled park, slowly but surely emptying all the way as any semblance of a stadium atmosphere disappears alongside quality on the park.
Accepting this cannot be an option, it’s probably the worst option of the three as it would drain you emotionally, the hurt of watching slow death.

So its walk or rebel folks.
Walking now doesnt make sense. The lie of the land needs established before the support at large really need to consider that most direst of options, the nuclear one. But the lie of the land can and will only be established after we rebel. Theres no point bailing out until we all know where we stand once and for all, with all the information we need available.
We havent reached that point yet.

Which leaves only one option,
Rebellion.

It comes easier to some than others I admit, but I see it very very simply actually.
The Park often hears rebel tunes belted out with gusto, from it’s very first ‘God Save Ireland’ to the proscribed ‘Boys of the Old Brigade’ moving onto the beautiful and moving ‘Grace’ which was easily adopted by the Celtic family.
However, anyone can belt out the rebel tunes, but if it comes down to the crunch would those same singers rebel?
Well that time is here.
Put up or shut up time.

Rebellion or rebelling may be as little or large as the individual chooses or is comfortable with, but everyone must play their part here.

Until the last rebel,

That’s a powerful and correct state of affairs.

There is a fourth option that should at least be considered :

Attempt to change mindset via structured dialogue.
Acquiescence or rebellion are extreme alternatives.

As you say yourself-“ the lie of the land needs established before the support at large really need to consider that most direst of options, the nuclear one”

The supporters various factions need to get together on this. If rebellion is the final sanction because of Board intransigence to any supporter engagement then that is what will be necessary.

CFC

Would you trust any of the current custodians? An open dialogue requires honesty and trust on both sides. We know that the board are not beyond lying to to the support. Let’s see them make the 1st move, a gesture of good faith if you will, such as admit they were wrong about Res 12 and how they treated share holders, or perhaps admit they were complicit in the 5wa, but you know that will never happen.

CFC

To be clear what I am suggesting is not appeasement with the Board’s current stance.

It is a constructive representation of supporters grievances. Those grievances run deep and not all will have an immediate resolution- Res12/11?
But getting across the table with the only man that matters has to be the aim.

The “Nuclear option” suggests mass destruction- not the sort of language to get the whole support on side.

CFC

Óglach

As things stand-no.

Disingenuous- definitely.
But that lack of honesty was when they thought they could control the narrative.
Things have changed, changed utterly and they are losing grip of that control.
Now is the time to open serious damage with the “threat” of revenue being withdrawn not outright rebellion.

Pedro71

If supporters make a decision to not renew then another will take the vacant seat, if a supporter decides to not purchase any cup competition merchandise (tickets), another will, in this reality we live in we will still support.
We do need to take a chance this time, i won’t purchase any tickets for competitions except my season ticket, i will deny every Scottish and European club my presence at any game, yes my seat will be empty and until the club i have always supported pushes to change this farce of a footballing country i will check the score on my phone after the game has finished.
If other supporters do the same then eventually the farce of this footballing country will maybe wake up and hopefully realise that supporters are the people to support and bring our game back to were it should be, a time to enjoy after working hard to provide for our loved ones.

CFC

Dialogue not damage but maybe that’s a Freudian slip 😀. It almost works as well.

Noel Skytrot

If we the supporters want change it will only come through our actions. Personally, I don’t think the current custodians will cede anything to the supporters, they’ll do what they’ve always done, placate us with ” we’ll take on board your concerns” or other such glib remarks or actions just to keep us in check. The shenanigans with the Resolution 12 people are a perfect example of how they operate. I’m all for dialogue as its the appropriate way to propagate change, but if this was not bearing fruit the only other option would be to wheel out the cannons.

The landscape has changed and is changing with PL retiral.
We won’t know if the Board( dominated less by the outgoing CEO) have grown a pair and at last sense the real disenchantment in the support if we don’t challenge them directly.

If that fails then rebellion is inevitable.

Noel Skytrot

CFC,
We’re about to find this out when Lawwell leaves in July.

bournesouprecipe

They hung out the flag of whoa.

By October, they have no clue what to do, phone pensions services, ask about ‘maxing my lump sum’, and how soon? Brass necks for no looky back then, brass balls backing Neil (unique results) Lennon, we’ve only gone and survived the pandemic so far till February, and they’re shoving Mr Popular camera side, to do my shyte skills, the SFA, and Covidballs, next up climate change, the living wage, Brexitgate, and how they embarrassed all the windows.

Two cheeks of the same arse! I read in the week, could have been, two arses of the same cheek, reduced a support to ‘the Tims that lost the ten’, good job we got lock down loyal and stumped up to preserve Celtic for the next pair of cunning stunts. A generation of Celtic supporters finding something else to do on a weekend? is not ‘This Sporting Life’ in any dirty Northern town. These guys are hard at work in tandem, Leverkusen just got fleeced for Frimpong, and the Lyon President wasn’t kidding when he said ‘tough negotiators.’ but then he only needed to ask the Greetin Brigade how that works.

We’re left for Neil to be ‘ astonished ‘ at the latest round of completely unnecessary cheating. Cheated is always worse when you’re already second, downtrodden by your digital device? the season plays out in abject agony, and a pass to Paradise is reduced to near morbid curiosity.

There is no quick fix here, we need rebels and reverie.

Back through the ten we rode again CSC

Indeed.
Therein lies a problem. July is too long to wait.
For any dialogue to have impact he has to absent himself from discussions.

Odd Son Edward

The most corrupt league in Europe. Totally on the money.
Re that cop whistling or singing as I’ve read elsewhere, “the Billy Boys”; it is in the public domain having been detailed by David Whitehouse and reprinted many times. Is Police Scotland conducting an investigation into their officer for a racial breach of the peace? After all, it is a sectarian “song”?

Noel Skytrot

Garry, check out the picture on Joe McHugh (video Celts) Twitter feed, it’s a belter.

Odd son,
the thumb tappers will protect him as they always do.

History is littered with once great countries/institutions whose decline was brought about by hubris and lack of vision.
The LIE has now become the weapon of choice by businessmen, politicians and celebrity and the people accept as necessary to get things done
An ends justifies the means.
Look at Boris Johnston who is head of the country as his many deliberate and proven lies had no negative impact on him being elected.
Anyone who believes Lawwell acted singularly is naive at best.
Negotiating with a corporation who have little vision and lie as standard practice requires blind faith.
The new CEO is likely to be no more than a lick of paint on a crumbling facade.
Coupled with our place in the best wee sleekit country and openly corrupt footballing landscape without courage or vision we are F*%$#&.

Another fine article – undoubtedly penned from the heart . In that respect, I’m in full agreement. Our hearts are as one.

Taking the pragmatic view- from the head – I’d suspect, albeit i’m speculating, that 50% to 60% of the support, that’s gonna be around 26,000 to 31,000+, ( based on 52,000 season ticket holders, will renew without question.
I believe they’re out of reach in terms of joining any rebellion.

From the remaining 21,000 to 26,000, many will not want to renew, because they’re fed up with;

– Neil Lennon
– Peter Lawwell

Everything that has caused frustration, European performance, TIAR collapse, Transfer policy, Players going backwards, 5WA, Res 12, will in the eyes of the support, be attributed to either NL or PL.

I strongly suspect that with the PL departure announced, and the very strong possibility that NL will be replaced, unfortunately I feel the majority of the support will move to renew.

I say unfortunately, only because the problems are more deeply embedded, and simply replacing those two may not address the root cause of our problems.

The board policies, the failure to tackle the SFA, refereeing, the lack of youth development, transfer policy, no medium to long term plan to restore us to a level in Europe that is worthy of a club with 60,000 supporters at every home match.

Only the threat of withholding money will get the board to take notice. I genuinely cannot see that coming to fruition .

Noel Skytrot

Fan a tic,
totally agree. People in positions of power will do anything to retain this regardless of what’s occurring around them and how it impacts on people. The board aren’t exempt from this.

Noel Skytrot

Twists,
if trophies are being won many will just run with the status quo. Loads of supporters aren’t interested in the skullduggery that’s blighting the game.

If we are presuming a negative outcome no matter what is done, where is the motivation to do anything?

Everything has changed in the last 11 months and continues to evolve.
Responding to the challenges ahead requires a new outlook in every sector of the economy.

Who is to say that is not what is currently occupying the mind of a major shareholder.

4 hours till kick off. In these lockdown days it’s one of the few real distractions to look forward too, even if it is with a bit of trepidation and uncertainty. Hope that Neil sticks with the 4-4-2 but maybe with a couple of changes of personnel? I’d go…
Barkas (but I’m sure it’ll be Bain)
Kenny, Welsh, Ajer, Laxalt
Soro (though Brown WAS man of the match midweek)
Turnbull, Elyounoussi, McGregor
Ajeti and Eddie
With guest appearances to include Klimala and Henderson…

“One of the most notable actions by the ‘Celts for Change’ was to declare an official boycott of the re-arranged game on 2nd March 1994 v Kilmarnock. Unknown to the board, ‘Celts for Change’ had employed an agency to calculate and count the actual numbers who did turn up at the game, having a person stand at each turnstile to count the numbers going in. Their attendance estimate was around 8225, the official club figure was around 10,055. This difference at first may seem insignificant to some, but the 10k figure actually was a significant benchmark as it was an estimated break-even attendance requirement for the club to remain operationally profitable. The level was breached and it can be taken that the organised boycott was a success albeit a sad one as well (no one wants to hurt their club but it was the only way to force change).”

RC definitely out for me. A return for DL to hopefully allow Calmac to play further forward.

Another goal or two for AA too.

Packy, I like the look of that nap of yours, I think I will include it in my Lucky15. The jockey is wearing green and yellow stripes. My lucky charm. 🙂

Don’t know where it all went wrong for Ryan Christie, form loss coincides with his Da saying he might fancy a go in the EPL.

The internet has him in Neil’s wantaways and buttock’s coo’s banjo a with, seem appropriate this season, the only person picking him is NL

Sadly, you could say the same for most of the squad this season. Something more than simple loss of form when so many are coming up short at the same time.

There is no lack of youth development as our youngsters are being snapped up by teams like Bayern,Man city and Man utd.
We are just developing them for others.
The problem is there is no development plan to integrate then into first team and they are to young to be mates with our hapless coach to be picked.

CFC
My last line shows there is a way but i am not blindly optimistic.
The two traits i mention have been sadly missing under the DD and PL axis.

The Malicious Prosecution Scandal has taken an unexpected turn with two prominent Tory MSPs and self proclaimed Hun supporters Murdo Fraser and Adam Tomkins now publicly criticising COPFS.
I wonder whose interests they’re serving ? Could it be a former Oldco Chairman and fellow lodge member 🤔

Why has Soro been dropped last 2 games while McGregor the passenger continues with his peripheral role?
Is Rogic in because the coach remembers he scored a great winner against Well a few seasons ago?
Motherwell are no shrinking violets so 2 lightweights in midfield makes little sense.
