Fork in the road coming

The third week of March this year brings St. Patrick’s Day, the Spring Equinox, and the ‘Cards your on the Table’ derby clash.

It’s already more than apparent the treatment of the Champions elect will be heavily scrutinized, with many believing certain ‘lines in the sand’ MUST not be crossed. It’s no exaggeration to state a lot rests on how exactly the PLC accept that particular visiting team, from mobs at the barricades to season book boycotts.

Being impatient I’ve longed to reach this fork in the road, something its increasingly looking like. We all know our majority shareholder calls the shots, and we all know his opinion on that club. Given the boards pro Old Firm mentality, their official stance for this occasion may well anger the support.
And that, more than Res12, more than bent refs, more than 55, increasingly looks to be a bridge too far.

A Guard of Honour is clearly not acceptable to the majority on here, and its extremely notable that when the shoe was on the other foot their high command quashed the idea, showing its more than a footballing decision. Given we seem(ed) desperate to get the show back on the road when it strayed off the tracks, only the fool would bet against our PLC playing their part by publically accepting second best to ‘their historic rival’.

On the 21st of March, the old adage ‘cant fool all the people all the time’ may just prove itself true again. Many roads lead to this game, theres questions need answering, and unlike Sunday night past there will be crowds assembling and no hiding place should the PLC get things as badly wrong off the park as they and the manager have conspired to do on it.

Our boards ‘cake and eat it’ policy of pretending they died while charging punters the maximum for attending their games was always going to come unstuck once forced to publically choose, just as these circumstances are doing.
That foolish policy has now placed them between a rock and a hard place.

55th or 1st title?
Worthy Champions from a great club or a cheating mob with no scruples?
Guard of honour?
Big decisions need made with the support on one side and a crooked business partner on the other.
For a collection who would prefer to work behind the scenes, the PLCs day of reckoning is coming with the eyes of all upon them.
That day is about three weeks away and counting.

A good quiz question.

The Real McCoy

Ah didnae post β€œ that song”.
I agree that Thems copied it and always maintained they did back then.
Actually Big Tina copied it too. It was originally recorded in Centenary Season by Bonnie Tyler.

The pub used in Trainspotting 2 is The Douglas, Whitecrook Clydebank. Their business was booming with tourists, till Lockdown closed it.

Andy Pandy 2

Ref Andy Cameron, went to a Celtic Hall of Fame do In the Thistle Hotel, in 2002 I think. Andy Cameron was compere. He was, from what I recall quite amusing, did some jokes and an auction. Best Scotland moment….not a goal, wee Jinky giving the old v sign to the press box after we beat England.

Garry

Leeds United v Southampton about to kick off at 6.

Re new Everton stadium on the Mersey. Could catch on up here. How about Ibrox Stadium IN the Clyde rather than on it.

McCaff

Yer some man, so ye are. Managing the Nightshift and Dayshift. I’m a total lightweight by comparison.

Somebody mentioned the shows at the Kelvinhall last night. It doesn’t bear thinking about these days, all those poor animals. Different days indeed…though at least the chimps got a big welcome in the Rosevale for their Christmas night oot. After all, monkeys have always been welcome there.

As youse know, I took a fence sitting position on the GOH for NewcoHuns. No longer. They and their ‘bouncy’ singing support can GTF.

On the day though, there will be more dodgy handshakes than usual in the CP boardroom… allegedly.

Hail Hail.

Been at a few gigs where Andy Cameron was on,absolutely first class, brilliant charity auctioneer, I remember him being interviewed outside an Oldco AGM,lambasting them for the lack of Catholics on and off the pitch.

The Real McCoy

Garry,
Thanks for the correction. Thought that was filmed in The Orb. It was certainly used for some scenes. Pub and surrounding roads closed for filming.
β€œComedian Andy Cameron last night received Glasgow’s coveted Loving Cup in recognition of his charity work in the city.
Cameron received the cup for his work in particular with St Vincent’s School for the
Deaf and the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.” May2000.
St Vincent’s , Fullerton Ave, in Glasgow’s East End sadly closed in 2010.

We were talking about agents earlier. ‘Super Agent’ Mino Raiola says agents are preparing to go to court over FIFA’s ‘ridiculous’ plans to regulate their activities.
Regulate agent’s activities? Perish the thought!
Mind you, given past corruptions in this organisation they might be worrying over nothing. I’m sure they will leave lots of loopholes πŸ™‚

For the sake of transparency, I should mention that Big Packy is my agent.

big packy

just noticed my post from earlier got deleted, would love to know why.??

Garry

The Real McCoy
I was not correcting you.
The pub with the pool table with the fight scene was The Douglas Whitecrook Clydebank.
The orange scene was in the Bellshill boozer you mentioned. Different pubs mate. πŸ‘

Mahe

BP,
You sure?
Far as I can see there’s only been spam autodeleted today.
What time was this post at?

Hail Hail to yourself and Joan

Never really had a problem wae Andy Cameron. Used to listen to his radio show on a Sunday. Some of the weans that phoned the show to tell a joke were feckin’ hilarious.

The classic one-on a live show-went something like this:

Wee rascal:Whit type of vegitable makes yer eyes water?
AC:Is it an onion?
Wee urchan:Naw rang answer. The right answer is a turnip?
AC: I don’t get it wee man.
Wee urchan:Well, if ye get rattled in the baws wae a turnip, yer eyes water!
Cue bedlam as you can imagine, wae parents all over Scotland being asked awkward questions by the bairns.

Thought a lot of Andy when at a Huns AGM he condemned the still in place, anti-Catholic signing policy. Received a lot of threats for that, as ye can imagine.

Hail Hail.

From The Celtic Wiki
Launched in 1963 The Shamrock was the first Celtic fanzine.

Born in a period of great frustration and disenchantment The Shamrock took an unashamedly strong anti-board stance.

Packy, at least the pubs were open!

big packy

remember when we got our first phone in glenboig, it was green and i spent a week calling the speaking clock, my mum was not amused when she got the phone bill,😎😎

Our first phone was a shared line. sometimes you lifted the phone and someone was already using it! You had to wait until they were finished and try again later.

Golf legend Tiger Woods has been hospitalised after a car crash in Los Angeles which required him to be cut out of his overturned vehicle.

A statement from the LA County Sheriff’s Department read: β€œOn February 23, 2021 at approximately 7:12 AM, LASD responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.

β€œThe vehicle was travelling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage.

β€œThe driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick β€œTiger” Woods. Mr Woods was extricated from the wreck with the β€œjaws of life” by the Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.

β€œThe traffic investigation is being conducted by investigators from LASD Lomita Station.”

Thanks Gary. I wasn’t sure. Not been upstairs in The Orb for over 20 years. Hope it’s not like that anymore πŸ˜‚.

JIM, a true story, before the mobile phones us drivers had pagers that bleeped when your boss wanted to contact you, now i was given a job that nobody could do, now im not blowing my own trumpet, but it was start in cheshire, ellesmere port, chester then aintree in liverpool, then onto prestatyn in wales holyhead and anglesy, a long day, then the pager would start bleeping so you had to find a phone box, try finding a phone box in deepest wales, one day i had enough i threw the pager out the window, next day i got wee joan to take my uniform back not because i was scared to meet the boss, because the boss was a scouser called alf brownrigg, and he put me through my hgv course, and i loved him for that, but he was definitely taking the piss on that route,,another true story.😎

Why the documentary tonight about fans, should the documentary not be about our glorious board as without the board Celtic are nothing.

That’s right everyone, how fucking stupid does that sound. but that’s exactly what they think, heeds up their own arseholes busy patting each other on the back and believing there own bullshit.

Time for more demonstrations I believe. I didn’t agree at the time of the original demo, but not to big to admit I was wrong.

Great second half performance from Leeds.
3 crackin goals. The wee Brazilian wizard Raphina just gets better by the game. Superstar Bielsa found and made.
