Dear Mr McKay,
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Celtic Football Club and
congratulate you on your new post of CEO, we sincerely hope your time with the club will be full of success
both on and off the park, as we could not wish for anything more, all we supporters ever want is the very
best for our club.
We at Celts for Change 2021 are not special supporters, our views are no more valid than anyone else’s, but
we believe there are many thousands who feel like we do, but all our views are not reaching or being heard
by the board.
Therefore, we are going to be as frank as we can be, and put all the views of the support to you, as with most
clubs there are good and bad times, and looking from the outside, you would be forgiven for thinking what
could be wrong with our club, but the club have lost a lot of fans over the last few years. And will continue
to lose more, as they lose faith in their club and the game in general.
This is because of the inaction and failures of the club on and off the park under the tenure of the present
CEO, as supporters of any sport will not continue to support a game that is rigged. The disconnect between
the board and fans is reminiscent of 1994, something that we never thought would happen again.
You will have objectives set for you by the PLC, but the fans have some of their own, that have been
ignored, which we will list for you under the following categories – football operations, football governance,
and club persona. We will set out the failings as we see them first, and then the solutions for you.
There has been no balance in the quality and experience of some of our managers in the past, to highlight
this look at the average revenue over 2 full seasons that these two managers had, Ronny Delia £51 million
compared to Brendan Rodgers £96 million, nearly £50million of a difference per season.
We have missed out on players because of numerous bungled transfers for small amounts of money that if
signed, would have made an impact at the club, e.g. John McGinn, Fletcher, Toney, etc, etc.
We have on the other hand signed players for big fees that have contributed nothing to the team e.g. Marvin
Compper £1million for 80 minutes, one alarming statistic is that from the beginning of the 9 in a row, we
have spent over £34 million on players who never managed a full season of 38 games.
There has been an abandonment of the sports science, diet, data, and all round professionalism on the
football side of the club, with key posts coming and going with whatever manager we have at that time.
There are historical failures that have been festering away like an open sore since 2008 and 2011, all from
your predecessor’s time, we have listed them below.
The secret 5-way agreement, which Celtic accepted, but for some reason UEFA have had no knowledge of.
Failure to take RES 12 forward, now RES 11.
Evidence ignored that could have had the LNS Commission that legitimized EBT titles set aside.
The Traverso letter in 2016 calling Sevco a NEW club/company ignored including taking up UEFA’s offer
to investigate.
No robust challenging of the SFA, SPFL about numerous referees not applying the rules of the game when it
suits them, and acceptance that they can do this without any repercussions.
The speedy, and on the hoof sanctioning of our club and players, this season over Covid breaches, that have
not been applied consistently at other clubs.
Some of the actions and public statements from the club have been nothing short of embarrassing to the
ordinary fan, and not in keeping with a large PLC.
Some examples are, hiring the last manager in a shower, not looking at any of the CV’s that were submitted
for the same job; these were left in a drawer unopened.
Briefing the press against the club manager, and using a paper that mocked dead football supporters at
Hillsborough, as its main PR outlet, is frankly obscene and deeply offensive to any human being.
Being seen to aid and abet the reappearance of a brand that thrives on hatred of our club, our ancestry and
religious beliefs and all it stands for, as its core function.
Our club has given a casual nod of acceptance to all the crimes on the other side of the river, from tax
dodging, to racism, to cheating, and the biggest crime of all, acknowledging that the liquidation in 2012
didn’t happen.
The use of Parks of Hamilton while its owner mocks our club, perhaps a small example, but it again just
underlines the disconnect the club has with its fan base.
And finally but not least Dubai, well words fail us while the fan base were in lockdown trying to stay safe,
someone at the club thought that it would be appropriate to jet across the globe just baffled us.

We supporters see Celtic as a football club not a balance sheet, and all we want is the club to hire the best
available at that time in all departments.
Going forward your first remit should be a Director of Football, who will have full control over what
happens on the football side, they should have vision and always be prepared for change, and open to
innovation in the modern football world.
Secondly remit will be for the DOF to recruit a first team manager who has the quality and experience of
O’Neill, Strachan and Rodgers, no more projects to save money are acceptable for a club the size of ours.
Equally important is the support network, this is inclusive of youth system, scouting, analytics, medical
facilities, fitness and diet. This has to be a separate internal department, therefore it will not be affected by
managers coming and going. That will mean it will be able to maintain a constant professional standard, and
in the first instance a option could be a partnership with some of the Scottish University departments that
specialise in these fields to help build up the knowledge base.

The club has to pursue all of the failings listed above, and make public statements about the secret
agreement, rule breaking, tax evasion, tainted titles and new club status. This will encourage a greater take
up of Season Tickets than would otherwise be the case if the club remain silent.
The club, to keep its undertaking to shareholders under Resolution 11 at last AGM, to engage with the
relevant authorities and pursue and be seen to be doing so.
If this is not done it will haunt your tenure as CEO, and the sport will continue to be rigged, and what appeal
will that have for anyone who has played the game, or wants to pay to watch the game.
VAR and FFP must be introduced, and its implementation monitored.
Please don’t forget the hero’s of the club that have fought the SFA,SPFL, during our history, Bob Kelly the
right to fly the flag of Eire in 1952, Fergus McCann proving cheating by Jim Farry the SFA CEO over the
registration of Jorge Cadete in 1996, and don’t forget the lying referee’s with Dougie-gate in 2010.

Being a Celtic supporter means that you are likely to face resentment, discrimination, bigotry and racism in
your everyday life, this in turn inspires strong and passionate commitment to this club; some even bleed
green and white.
It also means that you join an estimated 9 million fellow fans worldwide, so we know that we never walk
alone, and are part of something bigger; we have a communal identity and a common cause. Every time
Celtic wins a game our suffering is eased a little and we can look on the bright side of life at that moment in time.
The club needs to understand that it is the only powerful champion of that community, and a focal point of
their everyday life. The public statements from the club therefore have to reflect that, and stand up for them and the club itself, and call out any wrong doing, misconduct, and discrimination against it, because a lot of our community has no other outlet to do this in certain countries.
The review and cancellation, of all contracts with companies, who mock and despise our club and its fan
Our chairman Ian Bankier position is now totally toxic with the support and will remain so until he is gone,
the other members of the board, some being there for a great numbers of years, are as complicit in the
failings by their silence, and not holding each other to account.
There must be a reconnection with the fan base all season long and not just during season ticket renewal
The fans have invested £750 million since the club became a PLC and have post Fergus McCann’s era, had
a growing lack of connection with the club, this has to be reversed and can be done so by doing the
Actively start updating current shareholder records to find nonvoting shareholders.
In addition, season ticket holders can be offered the chance to add say £50 to their annual renewal each year
this will be combined and converted into shares and given to the Celtic Trust, this in time will lead to a
reconnection with the club, which was always part of Fergus McCann’s original vision.
If you can achieve all of this you will remove all the barriers, that are reducing the fan base, and you can
maximise the clubs potential with 100% support from all fan groups.
With all this achieved, it will also give all the fans a vision to buy into and believe in. The revenue will
increase, the share price will increase, which will lead on to some of the projects that have been shelved
during the downsizing to be realised, a 80,000 seated Celtic Park, the Hotel, the indoor training centre at
Barrowfield, and the shopping centre.
This will in turn sustain and define the club for our Children and Grandchildren and many generations to
come thereafter.
If you are unable or are not allowed to fix all of the above, it means that the game in Scotland will remain
rigged, and there will be no way to achieve maximum support from us and many other supporter groups
going forward, and this would be a heartbreaking waste of our clubs future potential.
Best wishes

A great letter. I just hope D.McK. takes the time to read it slowly and think about it. It will be impossible to sort everything out in a few short months. But I live in hope that we can see significant progress in some areas come the autumn. Good luck to him, he will need it on top of the support of several key, clever, appointees around him.

CRAIG 76 cheers for that, will pick another one.H.H.

Hi Bhoys & Ghirls,
Just a wee update on Riley Hamilton, the family of Riley Hamilton have let us know her operation was a success & she is now doing fine.

Thank you for sharing.

A fine, open, letter to our new CEO.
Hopefully it will make him think, because, I’m sure our current board members will have told him that most of the points raised either don’t matter or are to swept under the carpet.
He will have been told by them, that the bottom line is money.

Good news.

Thanks for the update,bud!

Stopped reading that letter at ‘Fletcher’. FFS a total tit of a player!
That season at Hibs he played mostly in midfield and, if I remember correctly, had only scored one goal in months. Geezo.

I reckon much of the content reflects our thinking too,but I wish someone had proofread it first.

Great news you never seen it :-)))

I will have 10 win DBL today on Blackpool & Hull

Many thanks for your generosity

No a bad letter and I do like the focus on the rigged game.

I dont think the remit of a CEO is to be honest and have integrity, this is the problem. If he was to actually stand up against our owner and then resign, he would never work again.

This is the problem at this level of employment, integrity and honesty are not part of the remit.

Why would you ever trust a billionaire, these people have no morals. NONE, NONE WHAT SO EVER.

Good morning All

Listening to this wee remix the legendary Gene Chandler All about the paper oooft get Dancin:-)))

I’m sure McKay will look after the commercial and the financial things at the club,I’m hearing rumours of some the big EPL clubs are going to give some freebies to all season ticket holders 21/22 ,

Jackie McNamara & John Hartson on Pointless, Celebrities edition, at 7.35pm BBC1 🙂

No huns players. Maybe they couldn’t find any with an IQ over 50.

This letter is fine and it covers most but not all points that had to be covered.
Point 1 i’d like to raise is the cost of individual matchday tickets, paying £35 or so to watch St.Johnstone or Hamilton is a complete joke, must be lowered to at maximum £25 for all SPFL games.
Cup games should be £10-15 & £5 for kids.

Second and most important to me is the boys club abuse to be concluded this year, meet the victims, compensate them, apologise to them & treat them with priority & respect, get this done Celtic!

While DD remains self appointed emperor we are all just bumping our gums.
He has shown total derision to us fans, plebs and McKay will have same remit.
Only when financial pressure hits will our Nero make any attempt to save his profit margins.
McKay may be a fan but he will take orders from his paymaster.
Everything is great apart from this season’s unforeseen blip according to the mustached bandit so Carry on Dominic just like Peter.
Maybe Adidas should take a look at the strips worn in the Kelly and Whites final season and bring out a retro kit in a tribute to DD, PL and their board poodles returning us to the back of the bus.

Andy Pandy 2

Picked this up from the Celtic Star Twitter feed.

Replying to

and 2 others
Im not trying to be funny or controversial but for fecks sake Our club has just had our probably most successful decade in our history We have had 1 bad season And we have Celts for change!! Is it me or have some of our support just totally lost the plot.

A little snapshot of what anybody who wants to see the changes we need is up against.

Andy Pandy 2
The internet is full of board plants.
Division is their well worn strategy so no surprise.
All corporations try to control the narrative.
But DD is our biggest obstacle.

A thing of beauty

Great news about Riley.

A thing of beauty

Good letter from celts for change. I think it if we want to move forward the board are going to have to be honest about the 5WA and say they made a mistake in thinking we couldn’t survive without the ibrox mob. We need to lance this boil or it will continue to fester no matter who we get as DOF or manager. As soon as there is a bad run we’ll be back to it.
From last night. I wasn’t scaremongering about a vaccine passport. It is something that will have to be considered. Other countries, airlines, cruises and hospitality venues are talking about it as a way out of the problems they find themselves in. It is your choice to refuse the vaccine but if you find your freedom of choice restricted by operators and countries who would rather not have unvaccinated customers then there will not be a lot you can do I would suggest. Also could it not be that employers will be looking for staff to be vaccinated to ensure they are not in danger of having to pay for prolonged period of sickness as opposed to a few days for vaccinated workers. As I say, not scaremongering just a legitimate question as to what will happen going forward. Thanks to you and the other troops for the music last night. I say this every week but it is an education.

Copied over from the previous article…

Desmond and Lawwell had the opportunity to put them out of commission once and for all and didn’t take it. Worse, they did all within their power to nurse them back to health.

That’s all you need to understand about their values and priorities. And this charade they invite us all to invest our hard earned in.

Not for me. I’m not renewing and I won’t be alone. When Desmond’s latest pal appointment is made cue a precipitous collapse in season book sales.

The man is a flint-eyed capitalist. He’s never one of us.

PS great blog. Such a refreshing contrast to the North Korean vibe of CQN

And welcome to MAESTRO FAN. It was ATHINGOFBEAUTY who noticed your comment on the previous article-and if ever there was a fan of The Maestro,it is that girl!

Took her to her first game at 10yo,1982,and she was as you might expect that season,Charlie Nicholas daft.

All she could talk about after the game and for nearly forty years since was the genius of Paul McStay!!!

Neither of us is being smart after the event,we and many others have said that our part in the 5WA cannot be ignored or brushed under the carpet. I don’t care if our part in it was planned or against our will,or even if we were lied to or blackmailed into it.

Tell us the truth. That’s the least we deserve.

Many good points in the Celts for Change letter, but I agree with Bobby that it could have done with a degree of proofreading and reflection before publication. To me, it loses impact by coming across as a bit of a rant and thus leaves it open to being ignored yet again. That is certainly not what most of us hope for. I also think that stating “solutions ” rather than suggestions/proposals gives the impression that it is our way or the highway and nobody else has a clue (which, admittedly, is the case with the current Management Team and Board). However, I and most probably all of us, hope that a new regime will grasp the nettle and take us forward. Time will tell. All imo of course.

Have to agree with BMCUW.
Thought that was a poorly written letter to our new CEO.
Came across like an angry rant to me.
If I was our new CEO, I wouldn’t pay much attention to such a poorly structured rant.

Are you in favour of this Tory proposed vaccine passport?
Introduce this, and what is next.
It spooks me seeing this country’s slippery slide into facism. Folk are sleepwalking in this country.
If you tolerate this, then your children will be next. MSP.

Drifting, drifting, drifting……..Steady now, Steady!

No! You are drifting again!

What’s that emerging through the mist? Is it port or rocks? Yes…….it’s…..Holy Moly, I think it is the rocks!!

The good ship Celtica continues its voyage with all hands on board, peering out into the void.

No news, no information.

I cannot speak for ATHINGOFBEAUTY,but I personally am not in favour of vaccine passport. Nor do I have a problem with people refusing to take the vaccine, that is their choice. A bit like voting,I suppose-I might not like the way you vote,I might try to point out why I think your choice is wrong, but I won’t attempt to stop you exercising that choice.

By pointing out the possible pitfalls of not having a vaccine doesn’t mean that I,or anyone else,is in favour of such discrimination. It’s your choice. But if other countries refuse to let you in without a vaccine, that is their choice. And,as you know,a publican is allowed to prevent you entering his premises for any reason he likes-so if not having a vaccine happens to be that reason, there is nothing you or I can do about it.

I doubt it will be legislated though-and besides,if it is,it will only apply in Scotland if it is so legislated by the SNP.

Anyway,family Zoomer time!

A thing of beauty

TBH I am in favour of what gets us back to normality as soon as possible. I have no problems taking the vaccine, it was offered as part of my job and I feel fortunate. I get you don’t feel the same. Cut the tory crap but, you accuse me of scare mongering and then imply that I am a Tory because I think it may be a possibility to get us out of continued lockdowns. It seems that having a different view point from yourself lately means you’re a Tory or a unionist. Nonsense

Just another Saturday ! And less than 30 days until the boozers reopen although have to admit my desperation for a 🍺 is tempered knowing if that’s how the animals behave in lockdown what will they be like when the pubs are open ! 😱😱😱

Jock should always be the benchmark for a Celtic manager . Anyone given the privilege of managing Celtic must be prepared to stand on the shoulders of giants HH 🍀

Winner of the Cheltenham competition is CELTIC CHAMPS ELECT,with £143.34 returned 🏇 👏👏👏

I never called you a Tory nor a Unionist.
You seem very angry. Chill please and stop telling lies about me. Your post to me there was absolute nonsense and untrue.

Good afternoon All!

Been away from site as most of my fellow bhoys nail it with their comments! …

firstly I want to wish everyone and their families a good health… I have lost two uncles and my aunt is currently in hospital (all do to Covid) …

In addition, I have a lost my first cousin to suicide (he lived in Vancouver) … words cannot describe the feelings as he leaves behind 5 kids … youngest being twins only 5 years old… hence why i have been away from this site.

Therefore pushing aside family grief … my attention towards Celtic…

I noticed that a member of (Scots?) Parliament had written to SNP on the covid breaches and how clubs have ( or have not) been punished .. mind Sturgeon’s yellow card etc … it seems that it’s been the SFA behind the two match bans which impacted Celtic and Aberdeen and fuck all ( two covid breaches) against Huns …

Bearing in mind Huns have received no pens nor red cards … I am extremely angry and upset with the board for not doing enough to hold those responsible for running of the game with bringing it into disrepute… the corruption and the vile nature of those who represent the toxic club getting away with murder is a disgrace….

For that alone, my support for Celtic is diminishing… the static nature of the board and the way the club have taken the soul out of the team has left me wondering why and how did we get to this …. the blame and anger goes back to the board’s love affair with the “old firm” tag … well you can shove it …

I would like to thank Scott Brown for being a solid player during his time with us and I sincerely hope he ends on a high by leading Celtic to another Scottish Cup triumph… I’m not sad to see him go as even he has acknowledged his legs have given way and he’s not going to be part of the club going in a new direction under the incoming CEO …. all the best Broony \o/ 🍀

I’ve read this letter from Celts for Change … agree with some of you that it does become a little rant … however these are our sentiments… WE are the club … not the board… until we have a voice within the board … fans’ views are nothing but hot air that blows away in the wind …

On a final note, on the way to work … I noticed a blue Mercedes c class … registration RR17 GER … travelling anti clockwise on the M25 approaching M25/M26 fork ( if you know it) … no surprise seeing the Huns scarf by the rear screen and the knuckledragger at the wheel … I could only chuckle to myself with the dirty “have you ever seen a handsome Hun?!” …. let them enjoy their first and only premier league title … that should be the kick up the arse the board need to ensure we hire the right manager … NOT Roy Keane ….

Hail hail 🍀💚

Good to see you back Harvey 🙂
