Watch out, Beadles about ?

Upon pondering, it struck me that next season holds the potential to offer up some strange sights, freakishly strange actually.
All of the following are not beyond the realms of possibility at all, some more likely than others, but it’s a growing example of how fast the world and football changes.

You sit down at home to watch the match to a TV panel of Neil Lennon, Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill.
It’s very early season but yet the team are prepared for their qualifiers through the head coach and Director of Football being on the same page.
Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths walk out of the Parkhead tunnel together, but playing for Aberdeen lining up against Celtic.
You’re scanning the channels and there’s Cameron Harper and Patrik Klimala lining up together as a striking partnership, for New York Red Bulls.
You browse the sports channels to see Odsonne Eduoard and Calum MacGregor walking out the tunnel together, playing for a Brendan Rodgers lead Leicester City.
Likewise you witness Kieran Tierney and Odsonne Eduoard walking out the tunnel together, playing for a Brendan Rodgers lead Arsenal team.
Match day attendees look towards the VIP seats only to find young professionals striving only to further the club in their respective fields, not the Last of the Summer Wine brigade enjoying their status.
3 sorta decent years at the helm of the Ibrox outfit may be enough to land the Liverpool managers job.
Peter doesn’t get mentioned after a defeat.
There’s actual hot water in the bathrooms, sanitizer and all.
We believe the CEO when he speaks.
A sizeable spend allied with a quality coach onboard sees us begin the next campaign as favourites.
EPL players actually want to join us to learn under our esteemed coach.
Lenny takes another SPFL job, and once again sits in a dugout at Parkhead.

Like I say, some could come true, sitting here now we know this, yet the thought of such occurrences just seems so very wrong in some instances.
The new normal will clearly take a bit of getting used to, a sign that we as a club and support aren’t used to seeing huge sweeping changes swiftly impacting us, having been used to slow and steady with the same old faces.
You might rub your eyes and look again, but next season will literally be a case of can’t believe what I’m witnessing.

Pity we don’t have a fuller record of that game, as the BBC cameraman forgot to remove the lens cap on the camera for the 2nd half…aye right. Told to do so by the Original Blue Peter, Thompson of that ilk. Bigotry at the BBC… it’ll never catch on.

Good man. Get them telt and keep the pressure on.

I still cannot believe that a Plc CEO got away with blatantly lying to his shareholders at the AGM. That isn’t just a firing offence,it is normally a striking off offence.

I’ve not been on for a wee while so I hope you’re all in good form. I wonder what’s going on with the hiring of Eddie Howe, appears to be slipping away from us or maybe he’s needing more time to make a concrete decision, who knows. Special day for me today as its the anniversary of that weasel bastard, Thatcher checking out. Things that make you smile. Take care everyone.

Noel

Were you in George Square celebrating that day…wae Boaby The Barman??

Magua,
I was with my friends in George Square that day letting off black balloons in remembrance of the hunger strikers.

No offence, but I would rather not read quotes from that prick JHB on SentinelCelts thanks.
The likes of him and Ernie Lynch, are why I don’t read CQN. Can read those views in the Daily Mail thanks.

You seem to have missed the point. He gives an opportunity to inform the misinformed.

Did you read the reply or just ignore the information provided because you think JHB is a prick? His comment had to be included to provide context.

If that upset you too bad, you are not the only one reading posts on SC.

Magua,

Thank-you.

The problem lies with notion of ‘the company’s interests.’

Dermot/Pedro believe that what the support want is unsustainable and irrational. The continued domination by Celtic was deemed to be detrimental to the Club’s long-term interests.

(Dermot might even argue that our current plight is the result of a decade without any meaningful domestic competition. The fact that we need to up our game being testament to the influence of the competition provided by Sevco?)

They think the support’s interests are tribal and short-term/unsustainable. The buzz or pleasure of a football win lasts for a very brief period and then there is the urge to repeat and repeat that buzz.

Stuff like domination is low level consciousness. Down there with racism, bigotry and sectarianism. All the product of Fear. It doesn’t work – and in a footballing context, domination becomes mundane and unattractive. People stop paying to see it.

The business of the company is to make sure that there is a vehicle to create the demand for the hit of that buzz. Hence the Old Firm and it’s noxious baggage.

The supporter is so addicted to the sensation of that buzz we don’t appreciate how the Plc manufactures an Old Firm, to sustain the buzz.

We don’t see that the cartel is driving down the quality of the product and generating profit for the company, at a very low level of risk for the investor.

That’s the source of much of the conflict between the support and the board. They think they are giving us what we really want (the buzz of Old Firmism)…And that’s also in the Club’s interests.

Like most addicts we’re in denial.

The illusion of the Old Firm demands that the Celtic supporter can’t admit his/her addiction to the juice that the Old Firm provides, so it’s dressed up as a Culture, Cause or Calling.

To keep the money coming in, all they have to do is use the trigger of fear. Dermot’s philosophy has been about numbers not sentiment. That’s why you read so much political and other doomsday stuff in Old Firm Blogs. It’s all about generating Fear.

Fear is what sustains the Old Firm and handsomely rewards the executives/investors.

Celtic supporters being treated as second class citizens at the back of the bus is the perfect backdrop. Victimhood is a key part of the Plc’s business plan. They don’t want a level playing field.

All of that inequality simply fuels the disease of sectarianism in Scotland and keeps the money rolling in. Why try and fix it?

The Old Firm of Peter and Dermot wouldn’t be tolerated in Dublin or Cork. Eight hundred years of that type of sectarian manipulation and manufactured division was long enough.

=======================
I sat at that AGM shaking my head at the pish PL was spouting then Bankier followed up but got the narrative wrong! When PL said he had not seen the 5 Way I nearly fell off my chair.

It was a game changer or would have been had CST in 2020 taken up the suggestion to get legal advice on shareholder rights and Director responsibilities. There was £20K pledged to do that but you will remember how that was misrepresented by CST as pursuing Res12.

Pledgers not happy, opportunity lost but another CST AGM scheduled for 27 April.

Celtic plc want a duopoly.

Just like a monopoly, it ferments poor management and direction As can be witnessed by the Boards of both sides of the Old Firm (and The New Firm)!

Spot on and the more who recognise the addiction for what it is and speak to it the more aware others become of what they are partaking in.

The answer is to love more and fear less.

This wee story sort of encapsulates what is being asked.

A guy trips up and falls over a cliff with a 100ft drop to death on rocks below.

He manages to grab on to the roots of a tree exposed on the cliff face but with no way to climb back to the top.

He screams out for God to help, pledging to do anything to be rescued.

The clouds part, the sun comes out and a loud voice says ” I have heard your cry for help and that you will do anything to be rescued ”

” Yes Lord , ANYTHING ” says the desperate man.

“Ok” says God. “On the count of three, LET GO.”

That is how hard it is and it takes a lot more than a count of three.

Celtic were founded on charity, which is a manifestation of love.

We are experiencing the bitter fruit of our forgetfulness.

I rarely visit CQN and rarely post there .

I sometimes revisit to see if there are any responses but there rarely is.

When JHB says ” “You cannot reason someone out of a position that they have not reasoned themselves into” my irony meter went off the scale.

The Gombeen Man

Wow, a lot to digest there. On balance, I would have to agree with you. I only wish that we could be guided by the thinking of Jock Stein-who although despising Rangers-recognised that Europe is where it’s at. If all of us-the board, supporters and bloggers could return to that way of thinking, then we would all be in a better place. The New rangers are small potatoes…to quote Hyman Roth. We should be looking elsewhere for our fix. I recognise that I am part of the problem. On the days we play Sevco, I celebrate like mad when we win, and go on a right downer for days when we don’t. So within myself, there is still that conflict…I guess that I am not alone in this. It is however, good to have discussions such as these.

Auldheid

Your posts are always good for the soul.

Nicely done buddy.

Personally, I’d trade those 9 titles and trebles since 2011 for some good old-fashioned honesty…. and one, just the one, huge hit of endorphins that a big European season brings.

That nine in a row was like gorging on Diet/caffeine free Coca Cola

Empty feeling… but so difficult to kick the habit

A rumour that Peter Lawwell is being kept on as a Non Executive Director, and possibly Chairman when Bankier leaves.

Without that passion in your match reviews, you would be as well writing for the MSM. You wear your heart on your sleeve, as far as Celtic goes. Feck all wrong with that my good man…that also applies to Mahe.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe none of us would be in the current frame of mind if it wasn’t for all of the contributors to this story?

BMCUWPS,

The Monday match reviews are great. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re only honestly giving it how you see it, without hurting anybody.

Anyway,

Monaghan GAA Coach just got a 12 week ban for having an unauthorised training session with the team.
Someone took photos and sent them to the Gards, media and the GAA.

Dublin’s Head Coach got a 12 week ban last week for being photographed at an illicit training session at 7am with the team.

Can’t see our guys out doing drills at 7am.

When the soccer isn’t up to scratch the GAA always provides that outlet.

Come to think of it. The older guys in Clogher used to have to cross the border and give false names to play amateur soccer.

If they’d of been caught playing the foreign game they’d of been barred from playing GAA and disgraced.

Thankfully all that has changed.

Till Later.

SES,

Thanks, good to see you back.

Bada,

Dermot tends to have trusted lieutenants that stay around. It wouldn’t be the first time.
Shareholders in Northern Provence Diamonds were giving out recently about the same type of thing.
Dermot always seems to stay a few steps away and pays his lieutenants handsomely.

My anxiety (with no evidence, just speculation) is that Dominic will have been well sounded out during our trips to Murrayfield and the use of CP on Cup Final Day by the rugby crowd.

I hope Dominic knows what he’s getting into.

Till Later.

That means Paterson can cover for Tav (pen) and also that if we beat them, there aren’t enough games left for them to serve their suspension!

I wonder how our club will react,or any of the other ones. Actually,I don’t…

Lucien Favre is a much higher calibre manager than Howe. A winner with a load of European experience. Yes please to the experienced Swiss manager.

Craig76

Garry
He ticks all the boxes for what we need in a manager.

Sol Kitts

Why do we just accept the huns playing the system like this? There is no reason whatsoever to wait another 12 days to hear their appeal. They haven’t anything new to bring to the table, so it could and should be held immediately. This is no more than a frivolous appeal to allow them to cover for Tav pen being injured. Non-league mentality from a bunch of cheating twats, assistant by a compliant SFA and a complicit Celtic.
