Celts For Change 2021-Hi,Dom!

Dear Mr McKay,

We are Celts for Change 2021 and we would again like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Celtic Football Club and congratulate you on your new role.

We would like to outline our current strategy to you. As part of our ongoing protest, we will be recommending that all supporters delay renewing their season tickets until the following five points have been addressed.

-Peter Lawwell must have no further roles full or part time at the club after July 1st, our chairman Ian Bankier must also give notice of standing down, and the other members of the board complicit in the failings by their silence must do the same.

-There will be a Director of Football appointed by the club who will have full control over the football department.

-There will be a new manager appointed who has the quality and experience to take the team forward. A club of ours size should not entertain any ‘projects’

-The club should pursue the ‘secret’ Five Way Agreement that was hidden from UEFA. It should also pursue Resolution 11 with the relevant authorities whilst updating the supporter base on progress.

-The club should agree to the Celtic Shared proposal “shares for value”

All of these can be achievable by the end of July.

Public statements will also be needed to be issued and progress made with regards to the following,

-The new club status

-A form of domestic Financial Fair Play to avoid unsustainable debt being the driver for football success.

-A form of domestic VAR

-Termination of contracts of employees and with companies whose owners and business do not follow the clubs ethos.

We send you this in good faith.

Yours etc etc

Time to dig deep for charity, folks. A wee request from BRT&H for you all.

***
Morning Mick,

This is a barefaced appeal for support and sponsorship for a charity walk I am doing at the weekend.

All across Scotland this weekend various groups of people will walk, cycle or run for charity in the annual “Kiltwalk” – yes some do all of these things while wearing the kilt.

In Association with Kiltwalk, I am part of a team from the Celtic FC Charity Foundation Supporters Committee who will collectively cover a distance of 167 miles in an attempt to raise funds for the Foundation’s Football for Good project which was specifically set up on March 20th 2020 to tackle various issues arising out of the Covid crisis.

Since then, over £1 Million pounds has been raised to make a real difference to ordinary people who have struggled or need support as a result of the Covid crisis.

• Thus far we have provided direct support to
• 18,953 families
• 12,265 pensioners
• 9,107 individuals
• 7,155 homeless people
• 1,600 primary school pupils
• 11,000 hot meals and 17,000 hot drinks provided for NHS Staff

Ongoing projects include funding direct clinical and social support for those who are suffering from loneliness and isolation, mental health and stress issues, and helping people get back to work or finding new work following setbacks arising out of the crisis.

Much of this is done in partnership with local Government, The Health Board and various national organisations.

However, at the very heart of the whole thing you have ordinary half wits like me who give up some time and raise funds in the most unusual of ways, so this weekend I have to cover 12.5 miles for charity – and, yes, as a unique challenge I have to do it while wearing Cowboy Boots!

So, I am looking for MONEY – which I know you have in abundance (😉 – alternatively go and grab someone who does have money and get them to donate!

If you can please make a donation here

If you want to find out more about what we actually do and how we do it then you will find more information here News | Celtic FC Foundation

Thanks for your help.

We are not alone.

This blog by a Spurs supporter has so many parallels to our own feelings it suggests a wider awakening is taking place. An excellent read.

HAPPY HOOOOOOPY BIRTHDAY to SOLKITTS’ child bride of 35 years ago!!!

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

I agree with virtually everything that CELTSFORCHANGE lay out above. DMcK has a huge job in front of him,and it is largely down to the utter incompetence and frankly the malpractice of his predecessor.

I’m willing to cut him a lot of slack as he endeavours to right the wrongs of the past. They can’t be fixed overnight, but equally our patience is not infinite. It is unfair to expect immediate results, but it is necessary that we see that work is being done.

And anyway,he went to St Andrews Academy in Saltcoats. He worked in Kilwinning for a good while. I like him already!!!

That is a tremendous article, thank you. Another fan who clearly loves his club but cannot love what it has become.

it is difficult for us to refer to it as The Beautiful Game when so many of us are disaffected by it,so few get anywhere near the pleasure that we once did,and none of us have any say whatsoever anyway. We have been deprived of whatever ownership, even by proxy, that we could once have claimed, yet are being told to cough up and shut up.

Frankly, that is not good business practice, and is unlikely to lead to an expanding and satisfied customer base. It really is not going to end well.

Good morning, friends and a Big Happy Friday from a dry, clear skied and (hopefully) soon to be sunny and warm East Kilbride.

Bobby 100% agree with your post at 12:45 once you have been in love it sets the bar for all your future loves, once Celtic was in your blood the bar was set
I hope D M all the best can’t wait to hear what he has to say

Auldheid @ 12.13am – an interesting link, thank you. I have a feeling that in season 2021-22 I’m likely to attend in person more EKFC games than Celtic. Although the latter will still, of course, remain the team that I will always support; perhaps just not in person quite so often.

Two experiences I had today both about medical science , my friend emailed me last night to say he was meeting up with one of our other buddies to play doubles tennis. I decided to go along to the park to watch. They are both 70 years old, one of them had double knee replacement surgery on the same day in November just 6 months ago. These guys are top notch tennis players, there was 4 courts all with seniors( men and women) playing tennis, next to them was 4 other courts filled with 16 year old students playing tennis in PE class If they had played a tournament OAPs Vs 16 year old it would have been a clean sweep for the seniors. Where I am coming from with this is when I was 16 I don’t think I could have found many 70 year old s out playing tennis, also it amazes me the advance in medical science that a guy gets two metal joints put in his leg and he is back living an active physically demanding life style
When I was 16 he would have probably ended up in a wheelchair
The other experience I had was my 7 year old granddaughter saying “I don’t think this virus is ever going to end”
I told her when I was a kid there was lots of virus like illnesses around like measles, chicken pox , polio, mumps etc but you are lucky you got vaccinated as a baby and don’t have to worry about all those illnesses now. And when you are big little kids will get vaccinated against the covid and you can tell them the story about how you remember thinking it will never end but it did
Thank god for our advances in medical science and active lifestyles for seniors

On the face of it, it’s been an expensive week for Tottenham.

The reported sums of £15m for Jose. The £8m joining fee to the ESL. Possible withdrawal penalties in the first three years?

Forthcoming investigation by Boris Johnson’s Review.

There’s even rumours of behind the scenes payments from UEFA to withdraw from the ESL?

You’d of thought that Daniel Levy would of known a thing or two about skullduggery from his time as a Director at Ibrox.

His business partner, Joe Lewis at Spurs was a significant shareholder at Ibrox.

Lewis and Levy control of Spurs is held through their company ENIC and is registered in The Bahamas.

The fact that the letters ENIC is an abbreviation of ‘English National Investment Company’ is so ironic it’s likely to send Gary Neville over the edge.

Joe’s known as The Boxer and has been a sparring partner of our very own Kaiser, Dermot for years.

They share common interests in currency speculation, golf, gambling and legitimate tax avoidance.

Joe Lewis is famous for his partnership with George Soros and betting on the British Pound having to come out of the ERM.

That became known as Black Wednesday, September of 1992.

That play made Soros and others over £1billion.

Folk like Joe Lewis, Daniel Levy and the main players in this week’s events aren’t wired like the majority of us. They don’t do emotional attachment.

They exploit the desire to cling to what’s generally perceived as precious.

Whether it’s a national currency like Sterling the Mexican Peso or the national game. It makes no difference.

That emotional attachment creates a blind spot. That’s usually easy to exploit.

Something tells me that the Spurs supporter who wrote the compelling account of this week’s events is better off with his couple of pints at Enfield.

Is the Celts for Change letter for real? Is it an open letter or a personal letter to DMK? Which CEO would respond positively to a letter which contains a blackmail threat in the second paragraph. If it is to be sent directly to DMK, I think he might file it in the same place as our infamous transfer target list. I don’t disagree with the demands expressed but it is not the way to win friends and influence people. They should instead be asking for a face to face meeting to discuss their grievances. I think they would have more chance of success that way.

m6bhoy

As much as fan reaction to the proposed ESL was undoubtedly a factor in it being dropped, I fear nothing much, except perhaps some window dressing will change till fans figure out how to rebalance the relationship between supporters/customers and club owners. To me, the season ticket culture is a major part of the strategy used by club owners to lockdown fans and then do what they want to do “for the good of the business” even if that is not always what’s best for the team or supporters. It’s so crazy, we now have a situation where fans taunt each other with claims of ” we have more season tickets than you” and your commitment to the club is being questioned if you don’t buy a season ticket but still turn up to matches when your are able to through availability or affordability. I spend a considerable proportion of my disposal income at Lidl, Morrisons and other retailers but would no sooner entertain the prospect of paying them a year in advance than I would to pay well in advance, to watch a football match or support a team. This means that these business have to work pretty damn hard to retain my custom otherwise I will go elsewhere or drink less beer.

Over the past twenty years or more, Celtic supporters have, through an act of mass blind faith, shovelled hundreds of millions of pounds/euros and dollars into Celtic PLC only to find the club owners and custodians increasingly ignoring them and taking them and their money for granted. Following this season’s cluster-fuck, we now have a situation where the board are delaying sending ST renewals till they have a good news story to tell about a new manager and the marketing department can go into overdrive to mug the fans again. Sadly, I think tens of thousands will fall for this and we are back to square one again. Fans need to realise that their money is the only power they have. As soon as they complete their renewal forms they instantly lose that power. For the good of the club and team, they’d be better going down the Jobo route by ditching their ST and buying in on a game by game basis.

Andy Pandy 2

Auldheid
Hope you don’t mind but I shared your link with a group of old University friends, one of whom is a Spurs ST holder of many years. He came back almost immediately saying everything in the article struck a cord, and he was already wondering about renewal. Like you say we are not alone.
m6
Couldn’t agree more. I pay up front for golf, but unlike a season ticket purchase I have no emotional attachment to the club I play at, I pay based on the assumption that I will play enough times each year to justify my outlay ie value for money. This is the first time in eight years I have decided to play again. Football clubs, as has always been the case, rely on things such as emotional ties, a promise of glory days etc to generate the revenue, the product you get may not ever be what you buy into. But people still hope for better. If nothing else, this week has proved that there are no lengths to which the owners of clubs are prepared to go to squeeze as much revenue from whoever is prepared to fork out for it; the fans are an afterthought. On a more positive note… as an infrequent visitor, I still get the same buzz when I go to games as I did when I was a kid, and this has rubbed off on junior and I hope it never stops. Absence makes the heart grow fonder I suppose.

Noel Skytrot

Dear customer, pay up or feck off.

Regards

Dominic

I’ve never felt so disconnected from the club as I do these days. We’re not viewed as supporters anymore just customers.

Jobo Baldie

Whilst emotion does come into buying a season ticket, for me it’s not at any price though. I can really only think of 2 reasons for buying a season ticket – (1) it works out cheaper than paying on a game by game basis, (2) it ensures access to every game, or at least the first dibs at buying your seat for European games, etc.
Supply and demand is the reason we’ve never quite finished the stadium and capped the capacity at 60,000. At that level there are very few public sales for the bigger games leading to more folk buying season tickets on the basis of my earlier point (2). Were we to increase capacity to 70,000 I’d expect season ticket sales would go down.
Finally, on point (1) what do we actually save by paying up front? Aren’t individual match tickets for SPL games around £30? If so, attending the 19 home games would cost £570. MY place in the standing section cost me £545 this time last year. So the saving is approximately ‘worth’ 1 free league game.
Pay As You Go for me for 2021-22.

Where is Dominic?

Against my better judgement, I watch the BBC highlights of the Aberdeen game. 10 secs into the highlights, I watched Bitton put in one of the most pathetic attempts at a tackle I think I have ever seen in football and that includes my 12 years or so involved in youth football. If he had attempted that in front of Jock Stein or Sean Fallon, he would have been instantly hauled off the park and told to get as far away from Celtic Football Club as he could get.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56564060

Given the current low standards at the club, I expect he will be in the team for the next game. Talk about the jersey not shrinking to fit an inferior player…..

M6Bhoy…or maybe it’s a choice that people have made to go and watch their team despite the shit that surrounds the Club! Just like you made your choice to spend elsewhere! I know from experience that a lot of people are unaware of how far-reaching the corruption is and/or how deep in Celtic are with it. So, in essence, people love the Celtic and just want to see them play fitba…as you do, despite your self-imposed abstention you have probably watched a few games this year because the draw is there and sometimes you are unable to resist it!

Whilst it might not get a response it helps send a message of fans feelings that can only be addressed by responding to the thinking that causes them.

The most effective channel for dialogue is via a formerly recognised group and the CST carry sufficient new members to be that channel.

Their AGM is on Tuesday and they have have a couple of reasoned proposals to consider and then deliver at next Celtic AGM.

This particular cat of dissatisfaction needs swung about in more than one way.

There has been some greats points made over the weeks about renewing Season ticket or not.

I really hate the Board and what they stand for.

However, on match day, starting with the pre match bev with my pals, The actual game ( which to be honest is usually mince !!! ) and the after match camaraderie which we always have , Will make me renew again.

I get the pay as you go option, but myself and my friends who I travel with, all sit in the Rear Main Stand and have good seats and easy access for departing at the end. I don’t think I could handle a seat in the Gods again. ( Been there before, 2nd back row in North Stand, beside “The Ganjee Bhoys” as I called them.
They were a great bunch, but my head was always buzzing after every home game !!!! And those stairs !!!!

I suppose everyone has to make their own decision and I respect that.

Shareholders have rights and Directors have responsibilities and shareholders can seek remedies if they think they have cause to.
Even shareholders trying to establish if they had a case should focus minds on the Board.

The problem is it has to be a recognised group that represent shareholders who run with it.

Did anyone ever look at the issue of whether or not Celtic may have breached its reporting obligations arising from the 5WA?

Typically, listed companies must immediately notify the Exchange and public if there are any developments that may affect their business if the development may lead to a substantial share price movement.

I could never get my head ’round PL saying that he never looked at the 5WA. Is this possibly because, if he had (cough, cough), he and the company would have been obliged to disclose this?

Mahe

Welcome St Tams. Thanks for the compliments.

Hope all are well, God Bless all those with health issues or less fortunate than ourselves.
Been busy building a road believe it or not.
Generator that would power an airport is assembled and ready to rock.
Suppose I should assemble some fuel now.
Second vaccination out of the way means it’s time for some trips, woo hoo.
I was hoping for an Adidas Friday to blog about tomorrow but no such luck.
If a new guy was in the bag but didn’t fancy having his name attached to this season from hell, then a little leak or two with words to that effect would calm a nerve even if no name was forthcoming.
I think Dom would know this.
It’s getting awkward, can’t send out the renwals without a manager, can’t get a manager until season is over?
What to do?
Go on a road show Dom. Go tell the fans face to face aye it’s a predicament but they will be happy with new guy.
But make sure you’ve got him first. There’s thousands of managers, a lot of Germans speak English as do the Dutch, think out of the box would be my advice.

Celtic are not a signatory. The SFA and SPFL both are and Celtic are a member of both but any activity would have to be against SFA and SPFL.

You may have read Phil McGiollah Bain asked UEFA to comment on the 5 Way as it might conflict with Art12 of UEFA FFP whose purpose is to protect integrity of UEFA competition and UEFA said they had not seen it.

The 5WA is dodgier than a dodgem in Dodge City imo.

LEGGY In all honesty tell me about the catering and other facilities like in the main stand ,and do you think they will upgrade it,

Mike in Toronto

Auldheid

I dont think the fact that Celtic is or isnt a signatory matters; if they had information about something that could materially affect share prices, that would trigger the obligation to disclose/report. As I said, I suspect that might be why PL said he had never seen it.

Leggy

St tams,
