Rangers 4 – 1 Celtic

Morning.all.

This is a really difficult article to write,as I really do not know what to do from here. I was delighted to lose 4-1 against that lot-because they could have taken about ten off us!

Equally,we had about as many chances as them, with the big difference being that they took them.

Of the players who stripped and played,I will maybe give Welsh a pass but the rest of them were an embarrassment. Turnbull doesn’t know how to header a ball,Eddie has forgotten how to shoot,CalMac has forgotten what he gets paid for,and Broonie is a waste of space entirely.

Ajer is six fit five and ducks out of a shot. Fuxake…

Up front was even worse. We genuinely did have chances. Lots of them. Oh,dear. Least said, etc.

I was embarrassed watching that yesterday. The problem is that the players weren’t.

My apologies for today’s article. It is clearly lacking in detail, but I hope it gets across to the site the absolute depths of despair I feel at not only yesterday but the train crash that has long been in the making.

I mentioned in a previous article that new managers have previously arrived in the times of darkness, and taken us to a new dawn. On each occasion though-65,78,87,97,2000,2016-we actually had the nucleus of a good team for them to build on,and to motivate.

“We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again” is a line which gladdens my heart. I genuinely have no idea how we will achieve it this time.

Great article BM.

I am sure it sums up how the entire support feels

For me that was an utter embarrassment

As for young welsh he is never going to be our central defender moving forward IMO

woke up 8:00am Vancouver time and knew the game was over.I lay thinking for a couple of mins ,I feel good should I check the score or just lie here feeling good thinking it would feel great all week if we won. I checked the score and as soon as I saw the headline 10men Celtic
I knew the fix was in I have not seen the game the fouls the cards anything ,but would a Rangers player have been given two yellow cards for what McGregor got them for?
After they lost in the cup the newspapers need to push the Invincible’s to up their sales. Our Board let them catch up to keep them alive so there is no second Liquidation, Celtic need them to get into the EPL. The refs because they support them give, them breaks and penalties that no other team gets, we know that, it is not new, if our Board and players do not know that and plan accordingly they should lock the doors and throw the keys away . Bringing in a new management team and doing nothing about the cheating will not cut it

Our club is rotten to the core. It is run purely in the interests of rich shareholders. Everything else is a charade, a con to get you to part with the money needed to generate shareholder return. For as long as Desmond or anyone like him retains a controlling interest I won’t be back. The Celtic I grew up loving and its values are dead. Lawwell is the very embodiment of the money over everything corruption of Celtic’s values. I have always despised the man. I hope they do build a statue. I’ll take great pleasure in smashing it down.

While i have zero faith in our board of charlatans there is one thing that brings me hope.
The huns are a well organized team who are more than the sum of their parts.
This preordained season has seen them amplified by cheats with whistles, different rules applied and a compliant media.
It was important for Scottish society to end Timmy domination.

Gave up yesterday at 70 mins and took the dog a walk.
Was actually quite pleased that it only ended up 4.

If you are going to take over a Celtic team. Would you rather it was a team that had just won the treble or won nothing.

Pedro will go down in history with the likes of Murray, Whyte, Blatter, Platini, Blatter, Warner and Blazer.

The game is crooked. That’s why Dermot’s involved. It’s that simple.

It’s rigged.

Analysing tactics and formations only lends credence to the farce. It’s a waste of time. You’d be better of analysing Wrestlemania.

They’re exploiting the supporters’ addiction and marketing it as a Cause.

Celtic are the architects of the cheating.

Goalie-Bain-a guy who makes an occasional save and is prone to blunders.
Right back-Kenny-feart and abysmal in equal measure
Centre back-Welsh-potential as a defender but not a centre back.
Centre back-Ajer-good player but not a centre back.
Left back-Taylor-honest trier and classic example of Lawwell trying to replace quality cheaply.
Right wing -Forrest-good player when coached.
Centre mid-Turnbull- loads of potential in a properly coached team.
Centre mid-Brown- has been a good servant but never had the brains or smarts for central area.
Centre mid-McGregor-an imposter who should never be near defensive zone. Not brave enough for us.
Left wing-Mo-loanee so no point.I think there’s a player there for a proper team.
Forward-Ed-attitude changed under NL/JK so goodbye.Too many bad habits formed.
Subs
MJ- Looking like the party is over.Needed coaching and guidance that he never received.
Soro-Lot’s of potential.Very dependent on new coaches.
Christie -another imposter who flatters to deceive.

JK- a big fearty who managed to surpass NL in uselessness.
Strachan- should stick to playing online games.
McManus- to early to have an opinion.

NFL and JK did the job they were employed/expected to do…

Watching the performances since Neil left, I suspect that JK has been running the whole show all along.

I’ve read your posts about Rodger’s second season. Was he putting the brakes on? Fed up with recruitment and the Plc? We’ll probably never know.

Watching how he coaches at Leicester and how the team play makes that second season more of a mystery.

Re- Rodger’s Second Season

I remember thinking at the time were our side to side ponderous tactics a reaction to the refereeing and the horrendous assaults carried out on our players at the time…and ignored, by referees, media and the Board?

Anyhow,

The Gombeen Man

Maestro Fan,

Thanks. There’s a growing groundswell of supporters opinion dissatisfied with how the whole thing is going.

We’re not alone, just a part of the swindle.

Stan Petrov told us why he left yesterday. He could see the way the club was going. They weren’t going to recapture the successes of the past with the guys that were brought in. So he left.

The players see the new guys come in and the coaching standards drop and can see it unraveling.

The Plc don’t think Celtic are sustainable without the OF.

It’s that simple.

They had to downsize to accommodate Sevco ( in their view).

Players lose heart and here we are.

——————————————————————
We all see the problems and have opinions on what needs to be be done. For starters we all think we can select much better lineups and suggest much better use of substitutes than we have seen in pretty much every game this season.
I rate Soro and would’ve used him much more and started him before most of our other midfielders. I know lots will disagree with this. I also know we see differing opinions on many players’ performances during and after every game. That’s normal and usually you can understand why someone sees something different in a player.

BUT – CHRISTIE?
It’s been months since I’ve seen any positive opinion of Christie anywhere. Can anyone tell me why NL and JK have started him so often and given him so much game time. I must be missing something. Unless I am missing something the constant selection of Christie, on this season’s form, is enough to tell me that JK should be nowhere near the manager’s seat.

BR putting the brakes on has some validity.
Did DD give him the nod?
Also recent events point to JK’s influence being bigger than thought.
Maybe the useless Lennon was brought back as a front for an even more inept coach who was a Lawwell chum?
Lawwell’s legacy is truly appalling.
The appointment of coaches like Lennon(first time)Mowbary and Delia was a testament to his deliberate stifling of our club.
But let’s not forget Lawwell’s blogger in chief who facilitated and reduced our expectation management to that of a 4th tier European also ran.

Agree about Christie though when i posted a long time ago under Lennon that he was a headless chicken i took some serious flak.
After BR departed we would be stretching it to say he performed well in 5 games.
I often seem negative on players but i have a tactical fixation and dwell on their usefulness in their given role and contrary to opinion it is never about a personal dislike.
Years ago under Delia in defensive of Boyata i criticized Bitton who played alongside Brown as a huge reason for Boyata’s difficulties.
I had never seen a player who had such a perfect record of being wrong side of opponent often leading to goals against or him giving away free kicks in dangerous areas.
I took a torrent of abuse for that as people interpreted my view as personal when i was only pointing out what i saw.
It was no surprise to me when BR arrived that he dumped Bitton and Boyata’s resurgence began.
When BR dropped McGregor deep to play alongside Brown i said it was an error as Calum has poor positional sense and zero tackling ability while Brown lacked the discipline and patience for that role.
So not surprised our goals against tally grew from then on and our potency declined due to McGregor’s pass and move game disappeared.
I understand why Ntcham took the huff though think he should have been more professional when he was never given the position he had played well in back after recovering from injury only making fleeting appearances in various positions.
When NL arrived his fate was sealed but i still think there is a player there who is better than any of our other midfielders even if it is only for one season. It could be his last chance of resurrecting a very promising career.

Rodgers in Europe – the way he sets up against standard European teams is quickly found out by more technically inclined managers/players.

Red Imps Ffs!!

A bigger myth than the Holy Grail – his achievements in Scotland are vastly overrated. The quality of opposition was an absolute joke.

Leicester will tank next season, because eventually English teams will suss him out… his best option is another move!

He has to keep moving….he’s smart enough to know this.

BR is a very good but incomplete coach.
His teams are very good in possession. But when they lose possession they have no understanding of what to do.
Was obvious when he coached us in Europe.
It is this flaw along with a lack of pragmatism that will stop him becoming a truly top coach.

Meanwhile somewhere in a bunker deep in the bowels of Celtic park Dominic sits bleary eyed on top of a large biscuit tin while being indoctrinated in the bonus making ways of a Celtic CEO by Lawwell.
The room is dark apart from a large tv screen filling the wall with a mustached mans image zooming in and out in a hypnotic fashion.
He has passed the first test of completely ignoring the fans with flying colors.
The art of lies and deception will be his final lesson before he is ready to acknowledge we exist.

Afternoon all.

There was one moment in the game yesterday when big Kris Ajer went on one of his mazy runs, he has very clever feet and upper body strength, when making these runs and is not easily shifted off the ball, he went all the way into their penalty box and instead of placing the ball in the corner of the net for a goal of the season moment, he then had a Ryan Christie moment and sclaffed his shot to some onlooking doos (pidgeons), those few seconds raising hope, only for me to be left disappointed, it frustrated me more than CMG’s sending off.

The downsizing was deliberate to let them catch up and renew the OF hatred, very sad how a club with such great ethos has been turned into a bitterfest cash cow, anyone who wants to deny this I refer to the following.

Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance, and because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn’t fit in with the core belief. Agree he is a good coach and can drill players into his system – it can be effective but is limited. As you say.

What rips my knitting is the ongoing myth around his ability to ‘improve’ players, that just feels wrong to me.

All the Celtic players he seemingly improved out of all recognition? – the evidence doesn’t support that. Those players were ‘lost’ under Ronnie … ‘found’ under Brendan … ‘lost’ again under Lenny??

Really?

Now looks like they could take instructions and operate under a rigid system, as you say, a notoriously inflexible system.

Now, those same players can’t think for themselves, outside that system, so not really improved at all.

When we look at Ronnie’s double season and a ‘stolen’ Scottish Cup and possible Treble. Was Brendan really such a magician with all the expertise & resources he brought in ( denied to Ronnie and Lenny?? )

We are in danger of getting carried away with the domination of Scottish fitba by Brendan and then how an untutored or ‘unsophisticated’ Lenny feked it up! Undoing all the good work Brendan put in.

I’m not having that – Lenny rescued Brendan’s ‘legacy’. Turned up and finished the job in that season when it could have very been different.

I agree Lenny wasn’t the right man at the right time, to move on from there. But, when Brendan feked off and took all his gadgets and toys with him, the players he left behind were left adrift too.

The investment in the team and resources around the support network evaporated. That now looks like a scuttling on a scale that would make Scapa Flow look like an upturned soap dish.

Andy Pandy 2

A few years ago I managed a boys team, even got an FA basic coaching certificate. BUT I am not a coach, nor will I be. However as I watched yesterday’s game it was so obvious who had bean drilled and who wasn’t. We have been outsmarted by a former not very successful under 18’s manager, who allegedly had to be coached to pass his coaching badges, and his hired help; by a team with a purpose, and a plan. This team lacks a leader, have no belief in themselves, and worst of all some don’t care. Whoever takes over is going to have to piece them back together and bring in key personnel all over the pitch. The downgrading has been so comprehensive that whilst I still believe that we can bounce back, it is a monumental task. I hope whoever gets the gig has prepared for the job.

Where has all the enthusiasm for a planned and sustained boycott of ST and merchandise gone? All we hear now is the CST bleating about wanting freebie shares from the PLC in the vain hope that enough shares can be amassed to have a wee say in the running of the club – like in 5+ years time – as if we can wait for that long. If you want shares to make a difference buy them like everyone else FFS. Put your energy into forcing the PLC to act by using the only weapon at your disposal – withhold funding.

It really is time for the support to make a unified stand now. No money until such time the PLC shows its intent. Show us a decent manager (hopefully not one no one else seems to be interested in and who has seemingly been dragging his heels about joining us) and 6 plus proven quality players signing for a start. Then and only then should the support be parting with their cash.

Time now becomes a critical issue for the club. Clearly very few of the team from yesterday will be nor should be around for next season. There is a solid argument for 2 FBs, 2 CBs, 2 midfielders and 2 strikers. That is a minimum of 8 first team players. The transfer window is supposed to open on June 9 and close August 31. There will be turmoil in this window because the Euros start June 11 and run until July 11. Ideally transfers need to be completed prior to the start of the tournament for players taking part in that competition, else some may wait to showcase their talents. As of May 3 we have no manager, no director of football and no recruitment guru, other than PL and JK. If a new manager is not appointed until June 1 he will have 8 days to assess his squad, identify targets and complete negotiations for players who will be in the tournament. If successful, these signings will not be available until after July 11 at the earliest. More likely later since they will need a break, and may already be on it. So, basically, at least 8 new players need to signed by a new coaching team and molded into a competitive unit, all have to have a break, and this is to happen in a 4-6 week period! Oh, I forgot, it will all be managed by a new CEO recruited from a different sport.

Does anyone want to invest in this? I think I shall pass. The end of last year or January of this year were the critical decision times for the required change but, of course, that was mis-managed by a CEO who had decided he was leaving.
