Thank You

Almost three years ago now a few disgruntled minds threw together a fresh website to help accommodate what would later be referred to as a new breed of Celtic supporter. However there was nothing new about our recent charity initiative, its an old habit for the world famous Celtic support and hopefully a permanent one.

It hasn’t been easy being a Celtic fan recently, a divided club with a fanbase just desperate to get back doing what they do best, support their beloved team. But theres always one thing we can all unite behind, and thats helping those in need as embodied by our You’ll Never Walk Alone slogan.

The past European Championships was highly entertaining with a never to be forgotten ending, and offered the perfect opportunity for action starved fan to reconnect with the game again.
It also offered us all an excellent sweepstakes opportunity, and on that front congratulations St.Tams and McCaff for nabbing the eventual winner in the draw, although charity was the big winner.

Im delighted to tell you we raised $1000 over the course of the Championships, which has now gone to two different charities in need. As originally intended Marys Meals received the bulk of our donation with $900 bucks, but upon finding out one winner St.Tams had another organisation close to his heart we felt it was only correct to send a hundred bucks that way, with a wee message of support which can be viewed via the Justgiving link below.

https://www.justgiving.com/transversemyelitis

Im sure I speak also for those involved behind the scenes when I offer a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Im very proud and humbled to be among you as always. It hasnt always been easy but such acts fully make being involved with the site worthwhile.

We dont know where our club is going, we dont know how this blog will end up and who will jump on or off this train, but we do know theres always someone needs help, and now we have a benchmark figure to beat.
Onwards and Upwards my friends in Celtic.

Sol Kitts in isolation

Having a strange day. I was woken at 4.50 am by my mobile, checked it and was pissed off to see it was a ping from the Covid app, telling me I need to isolate for 9 days. Means I was in contact with someone with the virus yesterday, no idea who though. First thing I did was take a test, result is negative. So, double jabbed, negative test, but still having to isolate. 😡😡.
My mood has been lightened somewhat by this morning’s lead post. Well done to everyone who got involved. It’s always good to give, and help those less fortunate than ourselves, and we had a bit of fun into the bargain.
Thanks to Mahe and BMCUWP for putting this site together, and providing the platform for us to do good things.
Right now I feel like the lonely prisoner…..I’m in ma cell. 😎😎

Morning all! A great gesture by all involved…give yourselves a pat on the back!!
Leggy…a beautiful song by a very talented guy, it’d bring a tear to a gless ee!!
No time for idle chit chat today…the boys are playing in a semi-final at 10 am…need to dash. Wish us luck – we’re gonna need it!

Well done everyone on charity donations. Especially to the guys organising and managing all the requests and updates. Huge task and true Celtic spirit.

Good luck to lads this morning / hope they are looking forward to a final by midday.

Morning Sol(e) Kitts! A couple of weeks ago my wee guy came out of isolation on the Friday of the Scotland/England game. He’d invited a few pals round to watch the game. Nobody came – they had all been told to self-isolate. He returned to school on the Monday, went to the shops at lunchtime, passed a group of mates in the street and stopped for a cursory chat on the way by. One of the boys was subsequently tested +ve and gave the wee guy’s name as a close contact!! FFS he was told to isolate again for another 10 days! We got him tested, negative of course but he was informed that irrespective of the result he would be required to self-isolate! Fecking nonsense but the worst part was that a few boys and a couple of girls who had been in close contact weren’t informed that they had to isolate! The system has obvious inherent flaws.
Anyway…I did say nae idle hit chat!! Need to go. catch up later with my own match report…or mibbe no…

McCaff

Cheers SES! We’re gonna need a bigger boat!! 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for technical support yesterday.

I sense software on my old iPad doesn’t offer option to copy the bigger link to embed videos.
I’ll do another check and find a solution.

Did I ever tell you that Saltcoats went into isolation in the 1970s, and no one noticed because they all thought it was shut. True story. 😎😎

Check what software you have. It’s probably iOS 10,same as mine. Totally screws almost anything. You can’t even download Apple’s own FILES app to access iCloud Drive!

Thanks for all the thoughtful, kind and generous responses to my guest article Paradise Lost yesterday. Thanks also to Mahe and Bobby for allowing me to get it off my chest. I will pop in from time to time to say hello to this brilliant community and hope what you all wish for Celtic happens at some point. I just cannot wait any longer and have found other more productive ways to fill my time in between eating, drinking, sleeping and other necessary bodily functions. All the very best to the best Celtic/football site on the interweb.

Mahe and Bobby, fantastic blog.
The effort you guys must put in to it, is second to none.

When we were up in Seamill recently, we went to Largs for an ice cream at Nardini’s (oh, the decadence). Mrs Kitts looked out over the water and asked what the island was called. Not sure she believed me when I said it was Alcatraz.😂😂😎

It is always right to be as charitable as we can be in thought, word and deed.

That could sum up the attitude of Sentinel Celts itself, trolls excepted of course.

So on a good news day it is good to read that the CST have set up there own internal forum as result of learnings from their last meeting that was covered here.

This is a significant change as it will let issues be discussed by members as a whole and allow a more informed vote to be taken at the regular members meeting every 3 months because members will have had more time to consider what they will vote for or against at the regular meeting as a result of the airing of issues. The next general meeting is on 27 July.

There was also confirmation in the latest trust newsletter which is pretty impressive that David Low has had to step down as Chairmen because of business pressures.

This isolation lark isn’t so bad. I’m sitting in our garden in beautiful sunshine, listening to the radio, and Mrs Kitts (who doesn’t need to isolate unless I get symptoms and test positive) is going to the shop to buy ice creams and beer for me. Wonder how long I can spin this out for?

Congrats on your great effort with fundraising. If I can crave your indulgence for a repeat effort with SPFL fixtures this year….

With the SPFL due to start at the end of this month, I am updating the arrangements for the fundraising and prize money aspects of our Football Predictions competition.

Marc (Celticrollercoaster) has provided me with access to the former “Walk with Shay” account so that all monies raised can be accounted for by both of us. We have a nominated charity that Marc is approaching to gain permission and we will provide details on that shortly. Once we know the sums collected, we will set the prize money allocations.

At present, I am considering 3 prizes for the leaders by the end of December and 3 more for the leaders when the league ends in May. To this end, I would suggest two separate fees of £10 to cover both competitions. Players can choose to pay the £20 up front or £10 now and £10 before the first January game. Players can also chose to take part in the game without donating or being eligible for prize money, if they so wish.

The details for payment are:-

Account name: Walk With Shay
o Account number: 15326765
o Sort code: 80-22-60
o Bank: Bank of Scotland

All of this is in relation to my original message below.

We are still looking to boost the numbers way beyond the current level.I have registered a closed pool on the Superbru site, which is a Score Predictor game for the SPFL fixtures in 2021/22.The site is http://www.superbru.com and the code for joining is roomuser

Please use your CQN or Sentinel log in name for identification. First fixture is 31st July and your predictions have to be in before kick off on the day. If you fail to make a pick you get the default pick, so you get to play even if you forget.

Join CQN Sentinels, my Scottish Premiership league on Superbru! You can find my pool here:https://www.superbru.com/scottishpremiership/pool.php?p=12367961 or by downloading the Superbru app and searching for the pool with code:roomuser
