The most naturally gifted footballer
There I was stuck for a topic when Ange Postecoglou uttered those most rarest of words,,,
Mikey Johnson is available which is good.
Of course it’s good. I recall a Celtic TV powder puff piece from a few years ago, a stage managed piece of feel good material to give the support something of interest, some insights they might find interesting.
“Who’s the most naturally gifted player in the squad?” the player was asked.
Without hesitation “Mikey Johnson” he replied.
What he does in training, wows us regular, could be a top player, etc etc.
But my eyebrows were raised. That’s when I really started watching the kid.
Or would have watched the kid I should say. He’s never fecking there, or at least it seems that way!
I recall Arsene pinning his hopes on an injury prone player, wanting to build his team around Diaby. Four years in a row he very quickly developed a season ending injury, was reluctantly moved on, and never reached his potential in the sport.
He was Arsenal’s Mikey Johnson, at least so far, showing that it happens and that’s just the way it is. Some bodies or frames just aren’t made for a very grueling sport, running almost non stop, at least under Ange you should be.
It’s a crying shame when a talent doesn’t achieve what they could have. I recall thinking if Aiden had Henrik’s drive and application he would have a lot more trophies in the cabinet. Mikey might have the correct application, and the skill level to make a real name, but it’s the physique that’s the issue, and that just can’t be cured.
Don’t get me wrong, zero hate here for the bhoy, and I truly hope he shoves these words down my neck, but it’s fair to say I have genuine doubts whether we shall ever witness Mikey as a regular first team player.
Especially under Ange as he can’t handle regular footie nevermind Anges pressing game.
Although he could become an impact sub, the potential game changer on the bench.
No defensive duties to preserve him?
The floating outball tasked with making magic?
Would a cold clinical eye not suggest playing him in bursts, rather than games, given his injury littered history?
I don’t see much alternative to the above.
And even at that anything could happen.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he went down in the first fifteen minutes, but wouldn’t discount a late appearance and assist from our fragile treasure in waiting.
I would be stunned if he started, but not if he scored, which would only add to his mystique.
This weekend if we are offered the opportunity to view young master Johnson in the beautiful hoops, store those scenes somewhere deep in your Celtic loving memory bank.
Just in case.
Now go shut me up and make that away crowd sing,,,
“There’s only one Mikey Johnson!”
Puff great music last nite buddy hope you see the game and we get a win

The date of the Celtic AGM has been announced and it is earlier than expected.
The resolution aiming for better governance can now be supported by e mail.
Details can be found at
https://celtictrust.net/are-you-a-shareholder-please-take-action-to-support-us-today/
Anyone who is a shareholder regardless of CST membership can take part.
There will never be a better opportunity for shareholders to bring the Board to account so please act.
Good morning, friends.
Auldheid – I am not a member of The Trust and have no plans to become one so I never think of looking on their site. I am however a small shareholder – I have 50 ordinary shares so that’s about as small as it gets! However, I agree with your proposed resolution (your ‘note of concern’) and I have already signed the suggested form and returned this to support it.
My own understanding is that this is a 2 stage process. The first is to get at least 100 different shareholders to support it which means it MUST then go on the agenda and therefore be in the public domain, shining a bright light on the directors’ inactivity in following up previous promises. The second would be to vote on it at the AGM – clearly the honest expectation is that the vote will fail, but that’s not really significant – it’s the fact that the directors will have to put something out prior to the AGM advising shareholders how to vote, with reasons why. That will be very interesting and something they won’t be able to avoid.
So, if anyone reading this is a shareholder – even a very shy retiring one like me who doesn’t tend to get too involved in such matters – please consider lending your support.
ps – I really hope the above is correct but I’m sure Auldheid will come on and shout at me if I’m mistaken!

Spot on although I would add it is an opportunity for Celtic to clear the decks and provide a platform to move onwards AND upwards from.
The CT page to shareholders should have links to the documents to download which I’ve alerted them to.
In meantime folk can read the full Res including Part 2 which is what shareholders need to act on.

The document at above link can be saved to any device to which a printer can be attached to print and the CT will handle a scanned image of the completed form as an option to normal post if sent to trust@celtictrust.net
Morning all,
I’m not sure about MJ but I hope GMac is featured heavily today.
I think we need someone up front to help Kyogo.
Expecting a real tough game today but 2-1 to the Bhoys 🍀🍀
COYBIG 💚💚
Have faith Leggy
6 nil the Bhoys ( that’s my predictor pick )
Giakoumakis & Kyogo hat tricks 🇬🇷 🇯🇵
MAHE
IIRC,the interview you mention was with Scott Brown and CalMac,and they replied “Mikey Johnston!” almost simultaneously when asked the question about the most talented player in the squad.
As you say, there is no doubting that talent, but the concern is clear-that his physical frailties might deprive us of the chance to see that talent flourish.
CRAIG76
My advice is not to head for the bookies to put the bet on for each of those players to score a hat trick. Not because I don’t think it will happen, but it will take a fortnight to write their names on a betting slip!
Craig76,
When your last in the Superbru predictions, as I am, then you’ve got to be realistic 😜😜😜
Saying that if Celtic win 6-0, I’ll definitely take it 👍
COYBIG 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
BMCUWP
I’d end up spelling their names wrong and the bookie would refuse to pay out
448/1 for 6 nil and hat tricks for Giorgos Giakoumakis & Kyogo Furuhashi
Afternoon all…the only thing missing from last night’s Nightshift was Garry! Good chat and tunes kept me up till the wee sma’ hours when I said I was having an early night…the empty cans lined up this morning don’t lie!!
SES…Martin Stephenson! Top Man, beautiful bloke who spent a lot of time with me and the missus but ultimately hurried me along as Scotland’s Poet Laureate, Liz Lochhead was patiently waiting for a word (with him – no me! 🤣) I bought a few things from his merch bar and he signed them all but a wee lyrics book he signed “To Michael, A True Artist, love Martin” my bro has framed and it takes pride of place in his living room!!
Great night shift last night amd a fitting tribute to the music maestro of CQN, Garry Postecoglu.
Let’s hope Mikey J can kick on and find a period of fitness to really start his career. He is at the wrong club unfortunately as our sports science department are not up to the job of keeping this guy fit. It’s a shame because he obviously has bags of talent and a player who I know played at U21 level with him says he was the most skilful in the age group. It is topical that only a week ago Neil Lennon was bemoaning how certain players could have played when they weren’t quite fit but chose not to. As we all remember Mikey J played when he wasn’t fit, had to go off and Neil Lennon told him to Fck off. And he’s still wondering why the players wouldn’t play for him. Dear oh dear. Reflection is not one of Neil’s strong points.
I am apprehensive about today as we are not good away from home but let’s hope the hoops prove me wrong.
Went to James Bond last night. First ever Bond Movie. Not my cup of tea would be how I would best describe it!!
Maybe not the smartest, to be passing the ball about the back 4 on a tight pitch, they will be all over us like a rash.
Mikey J is a player! He is a bit light and a bit underdeveloped physically but make no mistake he is a player. His drive forward to set up French Eddy at Ibrox lives in my memory! Let’s hope his time out of action has seen him in the gym building up to KT proportions.
ATOB…hopefully my ex-paper bhoy, Anton McElhone, is getting in about the fitness, diet and stats required to bring our mob right up to date!
And Bond…the latest film was the Best Ever and I’ll hear nothing more on the subject! 😉

===============
A bit of confusion folks on the Resolution the CST have asked for support on. It is one on Director Responsibilities that I’ve covered here before and is the way to go but not the Note Of Concern resolution I linked to at 11.07.
That is getting there but a wee push needed.
Sorry about the confusion.
SES…another wee bit about Martin Stephenson, when chatting to us my wife explained one of his songs meant a lot to her and he put a wee personal message in a lyrics book for her, Caroline’s not her name btw, its the subject matter that means a lot…
Mikey Johnston, made his debut in 2017 aged 17 and since then he has made a total of 38 appearances. He has a contract until 2024.
He has not bulked up or strengthened at all.
There is something far wrong at our club.
But then again most of us know that
St Tams- correct, i remember when KT was out for a few months early in his Celtic career, he came back as a man,he grew a pair of shoulders, MJ is as lightweight now as he’s always been
Anyone agree that John Kennedy is a Lawwell plant?
Auldheid
Do you have a 100 small shareholders to pass the AGM CST resolution?

That’s a powerful song
You’re a great man for the interesting music stories – keep telling them here buddy
Missed so many gigs this last year or so… mainly by choice, not to risk it after forking out the bucks.
Last nite gave us the impetus to get back to live music. Great for the heart & soul just meeting folk – Mrs SeS was chatting to a girl who came over from Belfast especially for the gig – there were a large number of girls from Japan/Korea taking pics and filming – a great friendly atmosphere.
Martin was telling a story- about a time he was chatting to Billy Connolly
Martin said there was a neighbour of his for 13 years, living in a small village, who walked past him every day …continually ignored him, despite Martin always offering a polite nod and “good day” or “morning” .
Billy said “you know the reason he does that Martin? … ”
Martin said ” well, actually no, I don’t Billy …”
Billy said ” it’s simple Martin … the guy is obviously a c@nt … ”
Our next trip is to Richard Thompson in Perth at the end of the month … one of his great uncles scored a few Cup Final goals for Celtic.

Aye that Guardian item – remember thinking at the time -‘ jeezo Richard Thompson is going out with Royalty- Zara Philips’ ???
But it’s another ZP – a Rock Royalty version.
Got the book in Kindle when it came out – wonderful stuff, particularly the harrowing story about the fatal tour bus crash –
First saw him with Fairport Convention at Knebworth in ‘79 then next time was at Cropredy Festival in 2018
He played a great solo set at Belladrum festival in 2019
If ye can get up to Perth on 27th October 🕺
I should have course have said the music maestro of sentinel Celts. Getting my blogs mixed up – tut tut

That Salah goal – wow!

Turnbull and Rogic in together again – this will be interesting today
Sense an early goal then a 2nd before half time 0-2) might help us settle
Anyone else thinking Ranieri is just Steve Martin pretending to be Italian ..?
That can’t be the real team?
We aren’t going back to Tam, Calmac, DT. ?
We were forced to ditch that because it wasnt working, why on earth return to it?
Why play Boli ?
Tam must be shattered?
Kyogo can’t be totally fresh, start GMac?
I’m not gonna say it,,,,,

It was some goal, but could he do it on a wet night in Dingwall in December 🤔

Joe Hart made me gulp there, I think he knew what he was doing,,,

He’s been watching Ronnie in the Lisbon DVD
Starfelt was weak there
Wrong choice from DT
Turnbull had better options
But it would have been some goal
Starfelt gives me the feart. CCV is a proper no frills defender.
Pretty scrappy, but Abada starting to wake up and attack space.
