If you’re going to do something, do it right
The weekend chat has been informative, and much more is needed to really flush out what is necessary and what can actually be sold to the masses. At the moment the latter is more important, however that’s not an insurmountable barrier.
The right words, and the right people, could pull this off I’m sure.
It’s well intentioned and best done while we can, for you never know what’s next.
Ref cheats us out of the league in the last derby clash there will be a flood of calls for a strong organization for instance.
It truly is time to wrestle with the idea.
So with that mind I ask any and all to contribute in whatever way possible,,,
Ideas or opinions thrown out there or maybe helping draw up the manifesto/raison d’etre.
I recall watching the boul Canamalar whipping up the guts of a resolution elsewhere many moons ago.
That was spawned on a website full of well intentioned folk, and now others must step up to the plate.
Who are we?
What are our aims?
How shall we achieve them?
The 3 biggest questions that deserve as much focus as possible, for they are your cornerstone and you can only form and launch once, there’s no going back and there will be eyes on this venture.
Btw Walfrids Warriors sounds good to me.
Over a few hours I noticed some supporter orgs (usually Trusts but that’s obviously taken) actually do have representatives on the board, such as Brentford. He’s probably bound by an NDA but that’s surely the ultimate aim. In fairness the Brentford Bees did cough up big funds to help stabilize the club and as a reward where issued a golden share so they have the power to veto the largest decisions such as name, home kit , and stadium change.
The golden share idea has been thrown out down south, making it mandatory.
We can only imagine being so involved, despite being famous for our,,, involvement.
Government down south has accepted the proposals contained within the report by Tracey Crouch, but within a day Crystal Palace had came out sceptical with the phrase ‘in my experience you’ll never find anyone who reflects the whole fanbase’ before making the wise suggestion heritage matters be for season ticket buyers.
For a club probably making a loss, the new idea that he kicks down a decent percentage of every incoming transfer fee might be at the heart of his discomfort, but that just goes to show there’s even more disagreement at the top level of football than the bottom. Many fans shrug, pay, and turn up. All owners/operators/directors have opinions, and they can’t agree on much. The Palace chairman was correct fans are divided, and we can assume every club thinks that way.
This makes the approach with a new group with fresh aims even harder but nothing worthwhile was ever accomplished easily.
Some independents have thrown together this lengthy but detail packed PDF regarding club and supporter affairs (it’s great reading but would make you angry at how we get treated).
However some have taken member involvement too far and they are not only selecting the team but laying out the tactics,,,Fan-A-Tics dream?
The slowly but surely approach is best imo, many a hasty decision has come back to bite.
This isn’t going to happen overnight, first we need to be sure we know how to make it happen, alongside making sure it’s wanted and sellable to the average Tim.
