Training grounds are about to be busy,,

The Queen passed away.
Prepare for stamps, banknotes, chocolates, teatowels, commemorative sherry and wine, a national day of mourning, speeches galore, and the most extravagant funeral.
But no football.
Sport takes a backseat.

Actually, games take a backseat, not the football itself. Players will not be given time off to grieve on this occasion, they aren’t off work until next midweek, the games may have stopped but proper preparation continues.

Every team, everywhere, just unexpectedly caught a break,,,extended time on the training ground and they can work on players’ niggles.
Most managers will be inwardly delighted.

There’s always some flaw that emerges when the new campaign begins in earnest, set pieces spring to mind as does dropping too deep.

There’s usually new team additions to acclimatize, the training ground is the ideal place for this to occur, many days in a row of practice and learning of your teammates strengths sounds ideal for Hacksabanovic and Abildgaard especially.

Of course some managers will allow their troops a mini break, when handed an unexpected mini break.
‘3 days rest lads, somewhere relaxing’ will be the mantra.
And of course some players being young and minted will follow the glitz and glamour to a nightclub at stupid o clock with too much of everything involved, minus sense.
The photos will emerge soon.

What will Ange do?
That is the question.
He’s a common sense kinda guy and common sense tells me if given a break then take a break.
“Weekend off, two days with the family, then back Monday to burn those extra calories off”.
I wouldn’t rule out a friendly dinner with some of those remaining in the city or new to it on one of those ‘free’ evenings.
Somehow I get the feeling it would be an enjoyable and knowledgeable affair, rather than plain sit down meal with the boss.

It’s too early to whether this opportunity to regroup will affect the title race, our rivals genuinely do look more in need of training ground time than ourselves.
That confidence needs rebuilt for a start after two hammerings in a row.

European wise we will have a bonus period of rest, while our opponents don’t have that luxury. I like to think no games for a week would benefit more than playing four days prior, but that’s just my theory. Some players might prefer the games thick and fast to keep their body ticking over nicely,,rests don’t suit.
Some, the opposite.
If I were the Shaktar manager I wouldn’t be smiling or thanking fate.
Rested and very motivated sounds like a Champions League away win to me.
They have an even bigger task on their hands now I believe.

Will England’s loss be East Glasgow’s gain?
I suspect so.

Yeah domestic games will be binned until the funeral, I would guess. I would be astound if the CL was cancelled. Give us training time for game two of the CL

September 8, 2022 9:37 pm

Don’t think there’ll be time for holidays- The Livi game might be cancelled but we’ve got Shakhtar on Wednesday and UEFA will postpone F all of their games- nor should they.

Why ask football to shut down? Are pubs and hotels gonna be shut? Cinemas and theatres? Don’t think so.

Let the Royalists mourn their loss.

Republicans can drink and eat and watch football and live as they want.

Nothing important has changed

Aberdeen would’ve beat them for sure and Saturday would’ve likely seen The Hoops EIGHT points ahead…

They truly are the jammiest gits ever are The Huns the way the stars align and fall in their favour every bloody time !

September 8, 2022 9:56 pm

If the games were played on Saturday and Sevco lost GVB would be gone. The postponement will keep in situ. Better him there than a new bright light
I respect GVB as a person but I don’t admire him as a manager hope he stays

Everything is in the timing.

Could have been last week thankfully not.

Personally think the huns are in a difficult situation.

The manager looks like the dressing room is not with him.Not playing McGregor may be part of it.

Previously a big part of beating us was hating us.

If we look back to Slippy G and the terminology fed to and used by him in being unable to say the word Celtic in interviews he continually pandered to the peepil.

Have not seen Van Bronkhurst act accordingly.

Regardless we continue on the upward curve and we are gaining momentum on the Ange Express.

We all want to win but football is entertainment to provide enjoyment that’s what Celtic have given us in the past and continue to do so.Its in our DNA

At other clubs its win at all costs.

Seemingly if huns refuse to play Napoli, they forfeit a 3-0 defeat, which they are delighted with, given recent results

September 8, 2022 10:15 pm

Dannymac it had crossed my mind McGregor could be poisoning the dressing room.
They shoulda released him, freed wages towards new keeper as current one is very poor.

I agree with SFTB on this. Other businesses are unlikely to close,so why should football?

Having said that,I think it will be next weekend rather than this one that matches will be cancelled. Mainly due to the timing of the funeral, scheduled for the Monday.

Apparently,McGregor’s new contract is on very reduced terms. BUT-if he starts ONE game, last year’s contract is reinstated. So,no chance of that, unless he does McLaughlin in the showers!

Jimmy Savile was a very close friend of the entire royal family.

Anyone know why he was their top mate …?

If so that should tell you all you need to know about that mob, herself included.

What is monarchy? From whence does it derive its sanction? What has been its gift to humanity? Monarchy is a survival of the tyranny imposed by the hand of greed and treachery upon the human race in the darkest and most ignorant days of our history. It derives its only sanction from the sword of the marauder, and the helplessness of the producer and its gifts to humanity are unknown, save as they can be measured in the pernicious examples of triumphant and shameless iniquities.

I will not be contributing to SC again (no don’t cry). Sadly, IMHO, it is no longer a place where having a differing opinion about Celtic or even posting an innocuous re-post of a current online rumor is tolerated, those who made the blog a place of diversity have one by one left, TGM & Mags to name but two missed posters. I’d include MIT but he still makes an occasional guest appearance.

Bada bing 1 (10.10) –

That’s exactly what they’ll do – win win for them – a 0-3 forfeit is better than the 0-5 / 1-6 it would be on the field of play… the fans will see the board as heroes (which ain’t the case at the minute for sure) ! – no midweek runaround to affect the domestic weekend match…. and Hells Bells – Get the sick bags out for how ‘good’ the publicity they’d garner would be from such a sickening stunt – over and above the bloody ridiculous decent publicity they already receive in Scotland – but not Holland by the looks of it thankfully !

I appreciate your posts, Mike, but like Rebus’ they’re so well articulated that there’s not much more we can add.

I noticed that the flags at Buck House aren’t at half mast, they’re not even at three quarter mast, and that’s just not protocol so something’s not right with this story.

For any queen fans I’ll pull back a bit and show some respect to the longest reigning monarch, loving mother to pedophile sons and beloved wife of her Greek/German cousin, the man who said he would ‘return as a virus’ to wipe out humanity.

Chuckie the new ‘king’ also echoed those thoughts recently and how he’d deal with this supposed ‘overpopulation’ they keep complaining about.

Yeah, they’re a real bunch of charmers alright.

Maybe it’s the fact they’re related to Vlad The Impaler that does it or maybe they just want this entire worldly realm to themselves.

On the night of a full moon too.

I don’t go to any food bank, BAD, but I know that old Lizard Breath and her crime clan have a direct impact on the fact such places exist.

Because they made it so and could single handedly end poverty in Britain overnight.

Been a quiet but nice summer. Was at my niece’s wedding last week, which was really nice. She is as close to a daughter as I will ever have, so it was a big day. September 9, 2022 7:30 am

Morning all

Appears very likely that racing fixtures in Britain will be cancelled. They’re off today as you’ll know. IF – racing is cancelled in Britain tomorrow, the naps competition will still go ahead utilising the fixtures in Ireland, over both the Saturday AND Sunday.
Leopardstown on Saturday and The Curragh on Sunday are scheduled.

NOTE – selections for either day still need to be entered prior to the first race on Saturday, which will be 1-30 pm . Even if you’re choosing a selection for the Sunday, it must be placed prior to that 1-30pm Saturday race. Anything after that time is void I’m afraid and will be determined as a loser.

Non runners which are not replaced will be transferred to the last favourite on Sunday. (The 5-20pm at The Curragh)

The above will allow a greater range of races to choose your selection rather than everyone having to choose from the same 8 race card on Saturday. You’ve now got 16 races to use over the two days.

If ( albeit unlikely) British racing goes ahead, we revert to normal rules. I’m busy today but will keep an eye on updates.
