Prayers answered?

Regular readers will know by now my main bone of contention when it comes to the team.
Midfield of course.

I subscribe to the long held theory that winning the battle in the middle of the park brings the points home, not always, but near enough so as to be considered an unofficial mantra.
I despair at the fact, and it is a fact, that Mooys inclusion brings a more fluid style of play plus more goals per minute than his squad rivals, yet he is often benched. Monday was my case in point, most would agree we looked better with him on the park, while his replacement failed to sparkle.

Now however, there’s a new chap in the mix, and I’m wondering have my prayers been answered?

I’m reading Tomaki Iwata shall be introduced to the crowd at halftime today having just made the long haul from the Land of the Rising Sun.
You will know by now he was the J-Leagues MVP last season, playing either in defense or as a defensive midfielder. He’s 25 (fantastic age for a signing) and is now destined to spend some of his prime in the Hoops. Given that he’s only 5’8 and we are well stocked in big strong defenders, I believe it’s fair to say he will be primarily selected to play the defensive midfield role he knows and shines in.
Alongside him of course shall be the Captain, nailed on starter, and the other constant Reo Hatate who Ange rightfully rates judging by his almost constant inclusion of the player.

Now this I find exciting.
A true dedicated anchor who is an actual MVP.
His box to box countryman for the outball who is our official MVP going by the POTY voting.
Plus Calum who Twitter Tims voted the best player of 2022.
Two MVP’s and the POTY all in their best years alongside each other? Reo and Calmac released? The new Neil Lennon about to slot in?
Ooft.
Throw in the impressive Hacksabanovic, pacey goalgetter Abada, and the improving Maeda on the wings, and the middle of our team looks strong, very strong.

Will the trio of Iwata, Hatate, McGregor stop my midfield complaints and improve the team, maybe drag us to the next level?
On paper I’m happy with them all, stats wise I can’t complain, age and experience wise I’m delighted, their individual caliber has been proven,,,,I just can’t wait to witness this trio play a number of games together, and together we find out if my prayers have been answered.

How can a club that doesn’t acknowledge cinch win the manager of the month?

Big Audio Dynamite

Rangers till they died, they were Rangers till they died, they know they were, we know they were, they were Rangers till they died.

Never let them forget!

Also when he gets presented with it to the press are the cinch words taped oot🤪

GVB was unbeaten in his first 10 league games, and lost only 1 of his first 18. 👀

Shows the kind of consistency Beale will have to attain to get even remotely close to us.

5 games unbeaten? Get back to us when it’s 25 …35 …or even 45! And when have any of their 2 clubs done that regularly??

Only one team in Scotland is capable of doing that regularly!

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,

They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,

We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the Scottish football league

They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,

They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,

From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,

To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,

They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,

We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the Scottish football league.

There’s Fallon, Young and Gemmell who proudly wear the green,

There’s Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there’s ever been,

Jim Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, John Divers and John Hughes,

And sixty thousand Celtic fans who proudly shout the news.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,

They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,

We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the Scottish football league.

Yes Mahe,

Ange is “strengthening” positions we thought we had covered. Yet we simply can’t stay still, we need better players and stronger team work for our next UCL campaign.

We still have a big question, who are we selling?

Auldheid,

Thanks for the information on the membership and licensing, I now remember that….

Mahe, good lead and I share your enthusiasm for the remaining 5 months of this season. Domestically at least we now have real cover for every single position. Obviously I’m still expecting a couple of departures this month but as long as it’s just a couple we should still have plenty to win the league and hopefully The Treble. Again.

You’ve just reminded us all that:
The future’s bright – the future is green and white!

Meanwhile, over in Sevcoland they’re trying to convince themselves that a “fit” Ryan Jack is the best midfielder in Scotland. 😀

You’ve put me in fine fettle to head out to see the Champions-elect go 12 points clear. 👍

Ange gave us a fit-for-purpose 1st XI in his first season, and that in itself bordered on the miraculous, given the shambles he inherited. He was also putting together a suitable back-up crew, but on occasion they have been shown to be not quite up to the task. And that jeopardises the planned sell high, replace with better strategy.

Seems he has elected for replace with better, then sell high. Make sense to me! I’m sure that a comparison of today’s listed 20 players and those of any match in Dec 2021 will confirm that. And the comparison with say,February 2021 should have us doing cartwheels! Not only is he a wonderful manager, but he is a smooth talking Aussie dude with the charm to loosen the purse strings-I’ll take that all day…

AFTERNOON ALL and JIM, a true story, myself and cousin peter going down to rugby park, probably 70/71 we had our scarves and tammies on, no celtic tops in them day’s🤩 we got about 10 minutes away from the ground ,this would be about 2-40, next thing 2 burly polis stops us, where is the fire he says, you were speeding there, we were not by the way ,he made us get out the car then went round it with a fine tooth comb, his big black boots banging down on the brake pedal while his mate checked our lights, next thing he has the bonnet open checking this checking that, i nearly said to him do you fancy giving us an oil change while your in there🤩 anyway he let us go at 3-10, so we missed 20 minutes of the game now if it had been rangers playing kilmarnock and we had rangers scarves and tammies on would they have stopped us then, answers on a postcard🤩

Big Packy, a not very true story…
Got stopped by the cops after having a few too many beers.
“Could you blow into this bag, sir?” said the plod.
“Why, Officer? Are your chips too hot?”

Not making the game today, got a dodgy ankle and cannae manage the stairs! I remember the day a few years back, l think McCarthy was playing for us at the time, I phoned in sick to work after twisting my ankle at 5s on the Saturday morning, my mates convinced me to go to Parkheid instead. We sat in the front of the Front Stand so the I could get my foot up on the wee wa’ to keep the swelling doon!! Forgot the cameras would be there for the highlights and spent the whole game shitting myself that I’d get picked up by the cameras! Jim the Tim might’ve been my gaffer at the time – if you’re lurking Jim, I don’t think I ever thanked you for having to work a bit later that day!! 😁😁😁

Stephen Robinson telling us the SFA like to keep their secrets secret:

‘ After VAR controversy continues around Scottish football, the Buddies boss comments: “It’s something we have to deal with. We had a call with all the managers and refereeing officials and things were explained to us that you don’t actually know. I don’t think the fans are aware of it, so it would be good to have that out there for everybody.”’

Diddy team with 10 defenders playing for a draw, McInnes is a wage thief, well done Maeda and Jota 1-0

McInnes using old Aberdeen tactics, boring as….

1 – 0 HT very poor nonetheless.

All about the three points,

They don’t even look as if they want to have only 9 behind the ball
They’ll play the same way till they lose another then it will be let’s keep the score down!

For any old Dumbarton boys out there.
The big derby went the way of the green and whites.
I’m not from Dumbarton, but I played with a couple of Dumbarton boys and this fixture had a real edge to it, from what they said.

The goal puts a better face on the first half, but it does not paper over the problems inherent in this team.

The shape from mid to front is lacking, perhaps calling it a shape is a compliment.

What highlights the fault is that Starfelt starts many of the attacks..where is the midfield?

Bernabei was poor apart from the one key pass of the half that led to the goal.

Yes, Killie are defending deep but it is no excuse for the lack of chances created.

Most of the crosses from Maeda, Jota and Bernabei have been terrible.

The winning strategy is simple. Get to the byeline and cut the ball backwards into the centre of the goal.

We may win this game but there is a lot wrong with this team, and that is not entitlement speaking!

After 45 minutes of Lennyball we finally make a positive forward move.
Great play by Mooy who has been our best player and good anticipation in attacking ball by both Jota and Kyogo.
Our captain meanwhile has avoided taking part by doing his best Peter Grant impersonation in pointing for ball to go anywhere but to him.
He has basically stood by his marker 16 or 17 to remain unavailable.
I know there are people saying that with arrival of proper defensive mid in Iwata we will see best best of him in more forward position conveniently forgetting he played that role in our one domestic defeat in 2022.

Wonderful break with Jota to Mooy to Hatate for Kyogo to flick home,
Last touch may have come of Killie defender but looked like Kyogo should get credit.
Beautiful flowing move.

No streams available to me at all! Listening to Shortbread…it’s all Celtic as far as I’m hearing. Not sounding like a 6-0 which is what I’d put in my Superbru!!!!
