Roll Up For The January Sales!

Morning,all.

Three months ago,I would have laughed in your face if you suggested to me that G-Mak and JJ looked set to leave the club in the January transfer window. JJ was gearing himself up to join the Croatia squad at the forthcoming World Cup,and had established himself as their first choice right back. This was certainly not the case before he arrived at Celtic Park. Up tilll then,he had only received six caps for his country; his eighteen months with us had brought him over twenty more. Unfortunately for us,it brought something else-the attention of others!

Although he had been tenuously linked with a move to Atletico Madrid during the summer,we all had a quiet laugh to ourselves and brushed aside such fanciful notions. Apart from anything else,Ange was trying to build something at Celtic, and it hardly seemed likely that he would be interested in dismantling the side so soon. Sure,in Tony Ralston,he had capable cover-but when both of them got injured last month,we had to pressgang Reo in as emergency cover!

Even so,the rumours wouldn’t go away. And the World Cup itself only strengthened the theory that he was indeed for the off. When Chelsea and Barcelona became part of the discussion, they somehow seemed more believable than Atletico had in the summer. Mainly because the quality of JJ’s World Cup performances had given such suggestions some credence. Even the oil-lubricated Newcastle United apparently had a look, though I doubt they can play Trippier and JJ at the same time.

And that World Cup added further fuel to the fire too, because we went out and signed the Canadian right back during it! And having thrown Alistair Johnston in for his debut against the huns at Ibrox,we know we haven’t signed a shrinking violet content to sit and play second fiddle. No way, this is a baby-faced assassin! In fact,he could well become the in-yer-face type who stands up for his team mates in a way we haven’t seen since Broonie-and who we therefore badly need.

So my conclusion on what are only a hatful of rumours-mainly from sources not normally known to be friendly to us-my own conjecture and opinions? We will be looking for a new No 88. I hope his future pans out better than that of Gary Hooper.

To G-Mak,then. Clearly viewed by Ange as the second choice behind Kyogo but what a finisher he proved to be last season when injury saw him given the chance. In fact,he only usually needed a sniff at the goal and-bang! Pick that out of the net. Cloughie famously said of Gary Megson that his second touch was a tackle-just after he had signed him, btw! I dunno if the same is true of G-Mak,because his first touch is usually a goal!!!

His opportunities have been even more limited this season due to the form of Kyogo. And even when he got a run in the team, the goals didn’t quite flow as freely. Mainly because he was too busy winning The Crossbar Challenge(!) The fans love him,and he seemed to love the club-and his style gave us a completely different option to Kyogo. And then, suddenly, not so. Contract problems of the likes not heard of this century. The fabled “Do well in your first season, and we will up the ante.” When that, obviously, wasn’t forthcoming-lost in translation?-it seems that either he or his agent went public on it.

Again,I took this with a pinch of salt. Mainly because in the modern age, nobody relies on a verbal promise. Again,it looks as though he is on the move regardless.

In both cases,it may be that the players are not to AP’s liking off the pitch. I think he is a man for a harmonious squad-not a bunch of yes men,but get the job done and talk to me privately about other things. Either way,he isn’t fighting hard to keep them, and I very much doubt that is because of boardroom pressure to sell. So this window still has some way to go before a satisfactory conclusion.

However, selling the players does not in itself provide that satisfactory conclusion. During the World Cup,when most of us realised that JJ was almost definitely a goner, when his performance levels were catching the eye of seasoned observers everywhere, including the teams already mentioned,we would have been expecting the club to set the starting price at around $20m and hope for $25m. After all, these were big hitters, and the euro pricing is deliberate. Why then is the talk that we are ready to accept a deferred $8m offer from Italian minnows Monza,a vanity project of Berlusconi?

G-Mak is a bigger puzzle. You might agree with him being pissed off if what he says is true. But surely it makes sense for him and his agent to have tested the waters before mouthing off? So far, only Mitjdylland in Denmark and a mid-table side in Japan have expressed an interest. The $7m fee seems to have scared off the former, derisory as it is,and to be honest,I think G-Mak has higher ambitions than Denmark or Japan.

On which note,to the real point of the article. Whoopy-do! $15m the pair? WTF? Both players have been in outstanding form for nearly three years now, with one a medal winner at the recent World Cup. Strikers with nearly as many goals as starts are like hens teeth and rocking horse shit. Each is approaching their prime years, their mid to late twenties. Current internationalists, etc. You name it,the box is ticked. I could get more for the pair of them doon the Barra’s-and I wouldn’t be doing tic either,or deferred deals or whatever jargon is current. Selling at these prices is not merely a dereliction of duty, but is seriously undermining-and undercutting!-Ange’s stated plan to sell big and buy better.

We are NOT a bargain basement stall, and when we have quality players available,we should demand that the price reflects that. Neither of these two players should be allowed to leave for anything like these prices, and if they are in fact being offered at that, whoever is in charge of that needs some very sound advice. At the very least.

The only problem is that there is an elephant in the room, and I think you all know where I am coming from on that one.

You can only sell to whoever wants to buy, and you can only charge what they are prepared to pay. If they both want to go is there any value on holding on to them and disrupting the squad unity? Unhappy players seldom play well and thier value will plummet. We laughed and laughed at Sevco for the valuation they put on Morelos. Rightly so as their valuation was a million miles for what any buyer would be prepared to pay. Football transfers are market transactions, there needs to be competition for the player to drive prices up. No competition means the price is flat. You can complain about Lawell for lots of reasons, but not this one.

Morning all.
4 winners to report this week. Three of the four saw their selections cross the line in first place, whilst Lefty’s selection didn’t run, and with it not being replaced, was automatically substituted with the last fav of the day which obliged at 11/4.

DRM takes top Bhoy honours this week as his selection, Barenboim, won at those same odds of 11/4. DRM moves into the top 10 on the leaderboard.

Vogue Punter provided our third win this week with his choice, Tahmuras winning at 5/2, which keeps VP in the black for the season.

Our fourth winner was the super consistent McCaff who struck yet again. He opted for Ici La Reine which was gambled in to 2/1 favourite, a gamble which paid off as it romped clear to win by over 6 lengths. Was the gamble down to McCaff’s tips now going viral?
That winner takes McCaff to the top of the leaderboard.👏👏👏
Tremendously consistent tipping from our leader. I’m sure he won’t get complacent with CCB, St Tams and Bobby breathing down his neck!

11 weeks to go folks so still plenty of time to find a big price winner to get into the mix in those final weeks.

As ever, please let me know if I’ve missed any non runners that were not replaced this week. With the last favourite winning at 11/4, you’d be missing out on a nice wee boost to your current total.

I think gettting 3 to 4 times what we paid for Juranovic and GG 18 months after we bought them is not bad business. The Croat did play exceptionally well against Ryan Kent last February and again when facing Vinicius in the World Cup but potentially buying clubs will have noted his mixed performances in the Champions’ League and a poor display in the World Cup semi-final. GG is someone who had one very good goals return in the Erdevisie but there wasn’t a queue to sign him when he wanted to leave Venlo, so a fitfully impressive showing in a weaker league (albeit for a big club) is hardly likely to have made him somebody richer clubs would be suddenly keener to sign for bigger bucks than in August 2021.

As has been the case for 10 years I am uneasy with a strategy determined by our ability to sell good players as opposed to building a good team. I know it’s the modern way but I dislike it.

This article suggests that Celtic have been involved in gathering wider support via The Professional Game Board for a review of VAR on handball with threat of taking the matter to IFAB.

https://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/chaos-and-confusion-fall-out-var-summit-on-way/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Professional Game Board Members are:

Chair: Michael Mulraney (Scottish FA)

Members: Ian Maxwell (Scottish FA), Neil Doncaster (SPFL), Leslie Gray (SPFL), MICHAEL NICHOLSON (SPFL), Ken Ferguson (SPFL), Duncan Fraser (SPFL), Finlay Noble (SHFL) and Tom Brown (SLFL).

This is how things are done in football.

Duncan Fraser was a member of the SPL Board who was not happy with the LNS Decision. Here is an extract of his view.

” In summary, I do not believe that the Commission came to the correct decision in terms of
sporting advantage and we have no grounds for an appeal based on the punishment being too
lenient or it appears sporting advantage given the narrow line they pursued. Therefore
reluctantly I have to draw the conclusion that the process is at an end.”

Not sure of leanings of others. I think Mulraney is a Tim. Les Gray is a blue bluenose. My point is The PGM do have folk who are not all leaning the one way and using them is how a lawyer would think.

By all means speculate on potential outgoings but treat paper talk with the derision and suspicion it deserves. We know what they do. So why fall for it?
Having recently suggested a deferred fee for JJ they state today- “However, Record Sport understands that report is wide of the mark.”

That “report” is mischievous at best and misleading at worst. But I guess it achieves the writer’s intention. A wee bit of discord sown.

To add a layer by suggesting Peter Machiavelli may be responsible is a predictable dog whistle, looking to achieve the inevitable knee jerk reaction from some regarding the bogey man.

Let’s wait and see what transpires before playing the blame game.

‘ Despite already promising to not punish Sevco for anything related to Rangers’ EBT fraud, they created the Nimmo Smith enquiry to create a smokescreen. The evidence submitted to LNS was filtered to ensure only one outcome. This is the very definition of conspiracy.

‘ Rangers (sic) have now gone 38 league games – essentially an entire top flight campaign – without conceding a penalty.
Moreover, owing to their involvement in the Viaplay League Cup this weekend, a year is guaranteed to pass without it being deemed by officials that any Ibrox player has been guilty of an offence to warrant a spot-kick on the domestic scene.
A result of the fact the most recent such incident occurred in the top flight encounter at Pittodrie on January 18 last year, which allowed Lewis Ferguson to convert for Aberdeen in what proved a 1-1 draw.’

If it wasn’t for Ralphie no one would have been able to read The Traverso letter of 8th June 2016.

When some called that letter a fraud, Ralphie was able to tell them he had seen the full letter amongst other supporters in same pub. I know because I was there.

If it wasn’t for a number of bloggers all the proof of mendacity that RTC drew on would not be known now.

The John James fella used what was put out on blogs to bring the LNS Narrative out more, especially SFM who exposed how LNS was misled by excluding evidence of dishonesty.

“Time has a purpose you know it stops everything happening all at once” which is a line from an SF movie about time travel applies to events since 2012.

Not everyone got it right, but given the scenario unfolded over time, I think folk like Ralphie should be cut some slack.

Having said all that, RTC, E Tims and I hope other blogs make the same point E Tims did.

I’m not slagging Ralph at all, Auldheid, as I know of his key involvement in this stuff and have credited his recent work on here a couple of times this week alone.

I’m just pointing out that after years of my explaining to himself & his readers the difference between the two concepts of ‘Conspiracy’ & ‘Theory’ that Ralph at least has finally caught up in learning to differentiate between the meanings of each and that they are neither interchangeable nor even related.

Allow me this moment after around 8 years of being constantly insulted as a ‘paranoid conspiracy theorist’ on those very pages.

BMCUWPS,

Very interesting read, spot on in most regards but the fees for Giakoumakis and Juranovic that was banded about when rumours emerged of them going is totally unrealistic

JJ isn’t going to get a first teir move on the back of a great game in the world cup against a misfiring Brasil

Scouting players is a very precise yet complex business these days – I know he couldn’t handle Mudryk, so any club looking to spend big also knows that

He had improved markedly at Celtic and is at his peak, other coaches may think they can get a bit more from him but not much more.

His crossing accuracy and occasional lapses make him unsuitable for top teir football, like many of our squad he didn’t cut it at the UCL and that’s the litmus test

Giakoumakis could do with a run in the team, he’s that type of player but as you say Kyogo is our mumero uno – even in games where Giakoumakis’s physicality and finishing prowess made him look like a no brainer to start, we all had to get used to the idea a fit Kyogo always starts – GG at number nine and Kyogo at number ten was effective, yet thats never going to be a starting line up

Ange has been backed so you would think if he wanted to keep these players the deal on the improved contracts would be done

If they were €20mn players Ange would want them for at least another UCL campaign; yet whether it’s squad morale, lack of commitment or the overall quality of these players Ange thinks he can do better and I tend to agree

I’m not asking €30mn, not even €20mn, bargain of the window €15mn the pair….

If a dyed in the wool Celt, like KT, can discard a G&W hooped jersey for a red one, then anyone can. Doesn’t matter if it’s the short January window or the long summer one. Professional footballers play for the PLC, their own PLC. So if Josip Juranovic PLC and Giorgos Giakoumakis PLC leave the club then so be it. Shed no tears. On the evidence so far, AJ would appear to be an ideal replacement for JJ. There will be plenty of replacements out there for the immature big girls blouse that is GG . As ever, recruitment is the key.

Pay little attention to what is written in the print media. It is a dying media. The Sun, The Record, The Herald, all experience year-on-year falling sales. It’s now just a grab for market share and advertising revenue. You don’t even need to be a trained journalist. I give you Kris Boyd, Barry Ferguson, and Charlie Nicholas. Not quite graduates from the school of Hugh McIlvanney are they ? My dad bought a paper every day (two on a Sunday), I used to but not any more. My adult children have never bought one, if it’s not on their phone/tablet, they are not interested.

Anyway, players come and go, the support is constant. The demand to watch Celtic has never been higher with all home games sold out, as well as Hampden on Saturday tea time. It’s up to the suits to maximise the club’s potential, on and off the park, but playing against dross every week does very little to add significant value to our playing assets.

Fairy Nuff but did you have the same facts 8 years ago to back up your theory?

That does not make you wrong back then as time has shown, but it might explain why others treated your views as conspiracy.

That is my point about time.

Hail Hail

The Leopard’s Rimshot

Auldheid, yes, I had all the pertinent facts at that time as I try not to comment on things I know nothing about and was posting this evidence repeatedly on those pages and they were constantly treated with total contempt.

I referenced all the work you were doing, plus that on SFM & John James, who was producing some great revelations at the time, and also shared links to various sites and books covering the malignant influence of Freemasonry on both the the game and society at large.

The problem is that most people find the scale of the conspiracy so massive that their mind simply can’t grasp it and if they do experience some spark of recognition the ego causes people to suffer instant cognitive dissonance as it can’t accept it has been so easily fooled.

After all, it’s no easy task to accept that all of humanity is being gaslighted by its rulers and lied to about everything under the sun, including the sun itself, but my point today is that the words ‘Conspiracy’ and ‘Theory’ have two entirely different meanings and have no relation to each other except when deliberately used by the guilty to smear the good name of folk who recognise a genuine conspiracy when they see one and can back it up with evidence.

Cheers for the link to the Tracy Crouch review last night, I missed it til now as the page hadn’t refreshed.

HH

The Leopard’s Rimshot

Oh and btw, Auldheid, as I’ve reiterated multiple times, I don’t deal in theories, facts alone are all that matter to me and to get to the facts you need substantial well researched cross referenced evidence, which I have in abundance.

Again as Thoreau wrote, once you grasp the concept you don’t need 1000 examples, though of course the more you have the better, but what he meant was, once you see the patterns the big picture soon becomes clear and recognisable at a glance.

Must be something in the CCB water system but I’m in the camp of GG is a fine centre forward, especially of the old school… hang about the two ‘boxes’ and chances will come. I think I got more traction than yourself by leaving out stuff not directly relevant to Celtic. It was hard enough getting enough attention drawn to that without bringing in the Masons etc.

The more I dug up the less likely I was to dismiss Freemasonry having a role but was happy to leave that to Tom Minogue who had a much better handle on that element than myself. An example of when there might have been Masonic influence was on being told Eric Reilly was a Mason and realising its significance in the role he played representing Celtic on The SPL Board that decided to accept the LNS Commission.

By the time I heard his Freemason connection he had already received all the evidence that had been kept from LNS from SFM and did not act on it as a Celtic Director would have been expected to.
He was in a position to have LNS voided but did not take it, was that because he was a Mason or Celtic PLC did not see it in the Company’s interest, ie commercial reasons, to act on the information at that time?

The following is not to criticise you but it is an example where I think you risk losing your audience .

You said ” After all, it’s no easy task to accept that all of humanity is being gaslighted by its rulers and lied to about everything under the sun, INCLUDING THE SUN ITSELF! I was nodding in agreement at the first bit as I had to revise many of my beliefs at one point in my life but on the bit in Caps I thought “Wit?”

You point out yourself how difficult it is to get folk to accept reality, so why take them into areas that they simply find too incredible to accept and in doing that you lose credibility and with it your audience.

I’ve a theory about the nature of things the conclusion of which, if it is true and everyone thinks its true, there would not be a man or woman remaining in the time and space Earth occupies. But it sounds too crazy to me and if I think its crazy I can hardly blame others for thinking I’m crazy.

Reality is like that elephant that has to be eaten a bit at a time.

If its any consolation I think the eating of the reality elephant is now underway, enabled by the ability of social media to let us share our own knives and forks or even long spoons.

You are quite correct, they out maneuvered us and outsmarted us because the Celtic support were all over the shop

The East Coast Supporters did more to banish the Sevco to the lower divisions and were tenfold more effective than the Celtic support

Attacking the masons or the proddies or anyone else was pointless.

Rangers, their friends and collaborators had quite enough motivation to do what they did without need to search for other bogeymen

The Scotsman’s Andrew Smith doing what any self respecting Scottish sports journalist should do. Using statistics to analyse penalties awarded against Rangers in domestic competition. But he didn’t find any ! If the referee was called Byorn, Clement, or Felix, Smith could find quite a few pens awarded against the Govan outfit, but not if they were christened (sic) Andrew, Nick, or Willie.

Smith going down a road that no other journalist, or pundit, dare tread. Just stating the facts and the truth. but an uncomfortable truth for too many in Scotland. Good men and women will say nothing and look at their shoes. The other side will default to just another paranoid Tim.

And no one will every convince me that Giakoumakis is anything other than a big useless dumpling. His replacement will provide all the evidence required. Alternative views are entirely valid, this is not CQN after all.

Then they could ACTUALLY go for “55”!

I too would have loved to have met Pasquale. I bet he could have told a tale or two, about the Celts.

Prestonpans bhoys

Enjoy your day.

Hail Hail.

The Leopard’s Rimshot

Good post, Auldheid, cheers.

I never considered that I was looking for an audience before, I just wanted a laugh and a blether, but unfortunately I was so riled by the actions of the SFA and Celtic’s inaction at that time that my research on why the media lies and how Rangers et al got away with it led me into a place where I could clearly see the connections between Scottish fitba and international politics and that key connection was and still is Freemasonry.

As for the sun, well, people can either wonder how heat can even exist far less travel 93million miles through a vacuum as cold as 2.73 Kelvin (-270.42 Celsius, -454.75 Fahrenheit) then magically ‘reconvert’ to heat once it reaches Earth or they can choose to believe a gang of proven Freemasonic liars who refuse outright to debate this topic in public with well informed folk who know they’re lying because they know all too well that their centuries long fabrications will be torn to shreds within a few minutes as they haven’t a leg to stand on.

Still, I’m not trying to convert anyone into anything, I just point out where they’ve lied to us, as lying is all they do, continuously and repeatedly, and this is shown by these massive deceptions which are scientifically testable, measurable observable and repeatable, the 4 key genuinely scientific criteria to prove or disprove something, but which, incredibly, these chancers masquerading as ‘astrophysicists’ reject outright, choosing to work wholly in the realm of theory rather than deal with anything physical at all, as everything they’ve ever given us they tell to our face is a theory.

If they can make you believe we’re on a spinning ball flying through a vacuum, where nothing can exist, at dour different and ever increasing speeds they can make you believe anything and I’m just using this example as to how enormous, and deviant, their lies are,

All this aside, I’m fed up pointing out the malevolent influence of Freemasonry in society and their sick practices in their running of the charade as very few can grasp the sheer scale of it and those who do catch a glimpse usually reject it outright via the intercession of the ego as it simply can’t believe they could be so easily fooled for so long, thereby causing a panicked cognitive dissonance and a refusal to further engage with the subject, though some few do and benefit greatly.

However this is a fitba blog and I’ve no need to keep mentioning the greater lie when it’s the smaller lie this audience is more concerned with, the lie that Scottish fitba is a level playing field and all teams are treated equal, which is patently untrue, and so that where I intend to keep my focus rather than the fact that neither heat nor anything else can exist in a vacuum, least of all in a vacuum with the mind boggling pressure of 1 x 10 -17 torr.

I have offered one blogger in particular the chance to debate this topic as he keeps repeating these lies he’s been told as ‘facts’ in his somewhat hysterical snack sized ‘media pieces’ but he seems either unwilling or unable to engage in the exchange, even though I’ve offered him the opportunity plenty of times and explained it can be elsewhere rather than his blog but no reply so far.

I think he knows that I do actually know what I’m talking about and that such lies can be pulled apart in minutes and with a few simply but astutely observed and well researched sentences at that.

I wouldn’t mind but it’s one thing to tell a lie but another thing entirely to repeat a lie that you don’t even know is a lie but are too lazy to even attempt to begin to look into it once alerted to the full extent of it.

Cheers again.
