The Winds of Change?
On Monday I wrote of the big push by the whistlers this weekend, convinced they would flex their muscle at Hampden and maybe try to slap Ange down after he spoke out against them.
There’s been a big push alright but from unexpected avenues.
A sit-down has been called between the Professional Game Board and the SFA, with IFAB receiving a report post meeting.
Sounds serious.
There’s some obvious implications and some less obvious ones.
First and foremost, with many important eyes apparently watching and assessing the refs the onus is very much on them to behave, starting this weekend.
Another weekend of controversy would do their cause no favours at all, so looking through the green tinted specs the timing is beautiful. Improved officiating for the run in sounds like a winner.
What if they are ordered to improve or,,,,? Demands made for unbiased decisions?
Things could get very interesting given they’ve gone on strike before, and they are needed for the here and now. There’s no B-team on standby, we have a bad bunch, but a bunch they are.
Outsourcing to foreign refs is now more complicated due to Brexit, plus the pound has decreased in value.
They’ve got the VAR teething problems excuse to hide behind, the lodges on their side, and a media that will sensationalize their side of the story if necessary.
They have some cards to play.
The Athletic describes the PGB as ‘powerful’ yet I’ve never heard of them wielding that power, always a first though. Our CEO is part of the delegation and Aberdeen are also represented, Doncaster and Maxwell are onboard for the clown factor, but there’s a fair smattering of different interests represented, four different organizations in total
The fact they must report upstairs to IFAB is notable.
This cannot be a rude dismissal.
‘They are doing fine’ won’t cut it.
The PGB aren’t just uppity Tims or Jambo’s to be put in their place, this meeting must be conducted professionally and conclude with recommendations.
Recommendations for Change, the dreaded word within the national sport.
The rot goes deep in our home league, a self serving, poorly regulated cesspit where race and religion still haunt the sport.
It has to stop one day and meetings such as the upcoming can slowly turn poor leagues into decent then good. High-powered confabs between Scottish footballs supremos are a must if a better game is to be birthed.
And this time there can’t be dirty deals cut or dismissal, there’s too many eyes involved.
This weekend the national stadium hosts two big meetings but I would argue the following meeting is much more important, a hell of a lot more important in the grand scheme of things.
It’s either the first step to normality or the first step of confronting abnormality, but either way the current level of officiating and the use of VAR will change after the shot callers huddle.
So,,,
all eyes on the weekend curtailing the refs.
People in positions of power forced to meet and discuss our common woes with our head man in the room.
No midweek game equals well rested legs.
Ange looks strong given he speaks out and viola.
Different officiating for the run in and perhaps more importantly across the way.
In talks, perhaps in prime position, for a new striker who is in demand.
And of course we have Tomaki Iwata to unleash.
From this side of the fence there’s encouraging signs in all directions but I accept anything can and does happen in football, and Scottish football is unique.
But it’s been unique for too long, it pushed the limits and has never been sanitized.
There was always the danger the next scandal would be one too many, after all attendance and sponsorship are on the line, the bottom line can be affected.
With an inherent failure to self control or act for the greater good, the national sport has opened the door to regulation from above, a third tier league that needs watching and brought into line if needed.
Seems it’s needed.
Oh to be a fly on that meetings wall, caught in the winds of change.

I’m not going to say “I telt ye” but I did tell you.
Rebus pointed out the refereeing issue had to be addressed on a broader front and I stated that was the view of The Company Secretary who was working on the issue in early December t least if not earlier
On the basis other clubs might not be interested, I had suggested the SFSA could be a vehicle for bringing supporters of other clubs on board.
I did not see the PMG as that vehicle for broadening the front, but I think I/we forget that it simply is not in the best interests of other clubs to allow the perception/view/belief whatever you want to call it, to continue with each passing weekend that Scottish football is bent. It serves no one INCLUDING the referees.
Self interest always wins. Always. To make change happen the trick is to make what you want to change in the interests of those who fear it.
So not surprising the guys with law degrees on the Celtic executive have chosen a route where evidence is presented, examined and the threat is if no satisfaction, IFAB will be called in.
Hmmmmm that reminds me of something, just hope it does not take as long.
When folk say The Board are doing nothing or they do not expect anything to come from their efforts, I get it. I get that long held beliefs about The Board are difficult to shake off and with good historical reason.
However the times they are a changing, folk through social media are finding out about the rules, about processes and that means those responsible for governance can no longer ignore growing voices of complaint as they have done in the past.
When the media shouted Celtic supporters are paranoid , we were able to shout back that we have good reason to think as we do. E Tim’s demonstrated this in a recent blog. https://etims.net/?p=18141
A response would require the media to look into supporters’ claim and they will not go there, but they know we know that they know where the bodies are buried and they will have to find another reason to stop the truth juggernaut.
At this point I’ll bow out with a wee story of transparency and Slow Glass from SFM in April 2015.
Social media has introduced a degree of transparency and Scottish football needs to realise it has to become more transparent in its dealing with supporters.
What football has not realised is that transparency is already here but in a form that makes us slow to realise it.
The vehicle is social media but the ability to share and make others aware is contained by Slow Glass.
Slow Glass from a short story by Bob Shaw slows down the light passing through it.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_of_Other_Days
In the story and others you have Slow Glass of different thickness in terms of the time it takes for the light to emerge.
You have Glass a day thick/long to Glass ten years and more thick/long.
Thus the story of Dundee Utd (in April 2015) was captured by Slow Glass about 3 or 4 weeks thick.
Maybe more or less as I don’t know the detail but you get the drift.
The Rangers story will emerge in full from slow glass 10 years thick.
The LNS story will take at least another year before the truth will emerge that shows it to have been a sham.
Res12 if measured from the Celtic AGM in 2013 will take two years for the truth to emerge.
The thickness/slowness of the glass depends to a large extent on main stream journalist removing the dust of PR that slows the light, but light is inexorable.
It can do nothing but shine.
* (Edit Note: the timings in 2015 did not take into account how much dust from unexpected places would be thrown in the face of Res12 and LNS by the SFA)
Reslotion this, resolution that.
Only an empty the park regime change event, with an uppity Tim board and manager, will give the effect of a Celtic dog in the fight.
Everything else is hunners a thousands of words of yadda yadda blah blah.

You’ve a cheek Kev. How long was your last diatribe on SC?
here is a tip from Rabbie.
“O, wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as others see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us,
An’ foolish notion.”
Sleep tight, Kev, and well done, Auldheid!
However, like the death of Rangers and birth of Sevco and, sadly, Resolution 12 itself, I have this sinking feeling that this will be just another glorified meeting of the bigwigs to blow smoke at the fans and that nothing will change, they’ll just get more cute with the decisions.
Because we all know the truth, which is that Sevco will never be able to compete with Celtic without the refs in their favour and that just will not do in Masonic Scotland.
They know they’ll start to lose fans without the occasional league win and since they’re fast running out of players, money & time, something will have to be done to accommodate them, if not revolutionise them with the possible arrival of a new Souness, and even more shady deals to keep them in the loop.
Even the ludicrous claim that they’re also ‘in the running’ for Cho is just another way of their playing the ‘Let’s keep up with Celtic’ game they do so love, in fact, everything they’ve done since Dave King came in has been based on the Celtic player trading model and now we’ve got the Cockney Wanka Mick Beale in literally quoting Ange verbatim and acting like he means business by saying he ‘wants to look potential new recruits in the eye’.
Their old model killed the original club because as Walter Smith noted, ‘Rangers always need to overspend’, presumably to keep up with Celtic, their only problem now is the implementation of FSR with UEFA allegedly keeping an eye on them but the problem for all concerned, Celtic especially, is how to maintain the balance that keeps Sevco competitive and their fans interested enough to maintain the illusion.
Do we throw them the occasional league victory or trample them in the league year in year out, allowing them only the odd cup or two?
All we can do his wait to see what non rigged solutions can be thought up by PMG & the IFAB Four.
Meanwhile, in other news, I hope all you bad Bhoys aren’t behind one of the thousand doors the polis are gonnae chap for watching hesgoal …

In mitigation, I went to the Rancid to see what they were saying about the VAR summit but had to flee in haste as all I could see were headlines about how ‘paranoid’ Celtic fans are as ‘there is no conspiracy in the Scottish game’, with two notable names being Alex McCleish moaning about Martin O’Neill for daring to complain about being robbed by refs and, er, the entire Dunfermline team under Jimmy Calderwood’s now public orders to let Rangers score as many as they liked in the title decider of 2003 and of course resident gum bumping clown Charlie Nicholas ‘branding the Celtic conspiracy crew PATHETIC’ …
Slurp slurp slurp went Charlie, as the devil’s soup dribbled down his front …
Kev, with all due respect, if this stuff bothers you so much why are you here?
Why do you torture yourself like this unnecessarily when it’s clearly having no effect on your intended targets?
What change do you think you’ll achieve by writing abstract and often absurd emails with no seeming point to any of them but to ‘Empty the f*ckin park’?

Morning all.
Fantastic piece MAHE, indeed it would interesting to say the least to be that fly on the wall.
HH
Yep, a well written article, Mahe, my apologies as I meant to mention this in my first post earlier but got distracted.
HH
Good morning, friends.
Good article Mahe, thanks for that. Just hope that this isn’t yet another false dawn.
Good article Mahe. Let’s hope something positive comes out if this summit and is communicated to the fans.
I still find the decision to bring in VAR mid- season unbelievable.
Then to make changes to how the referees interpret hand ball after the world cup another crazy decision.
But this is the SFA , so nothing surprises.

I will repeat a point I made yesterday that might have got lost.
If no matter what Celtic do or say is dismissed as irrelevant because its all a masonic plan, then what incentive do Celtic have to be more open? Their silence being one of your complaints re the refereeing, yet you use that silence to make up what you think The Board seem happy with?
You complained about the silence, no statements and no action on referees, but when that complaint is countered by what always was a reasonable approach, that is then dismissed as meaningless.
That keeps your underlying belief that its all a big and absolute Masonic ploy to look after themselves alive.
As I was pointing out when I said self interest always wins, that at some point if Masonic ploys cross a line that impacts on the other non Masonic players interests, the latter will act.
In the long term the idea taking root more and more that our game is bent and biased towards one club (with more of a Masonic hue than any) then it becomes in the self interest of those clubs to correct that view as it will affect their income from sponsors.
I’m not saying you are wrong to point out Freemasonry looks like or is the reason you think nothing will change, but not everyone is a Freemason and human nature is what it is. Selfish to a fault if required.

The quote “As oil is to the oil industry so stupidity is to football” applies to our SFA more than most. That Killie official appointment right in the middle of a crisis of trust in SFA and their referees is crass stupidity.
The Aitken appointment- crass stupidity or absolute contempt?
Wow a 1000 doors in the whole of the UK wow we should be really scared.tremble tremble 😂
Excellent article, especially if it works!
The ‘always asked’ question of my day needs to be asked if Mr Aitken! He might have gone to the same school as I did ,St Joseph’s , and his Mum or Dad were Pope Gregory fans! I doubt it, but you never know. Anyway it’s more likely he will be a Rangers aficionado than a Killie fan.
St Tams,
I had no problem with the idea of introducing VAR mid season (well, apart from my detestation of all things VAR and what it’s done to our game) IF it then led to an improvement of our officials’ decision making. But it hasn’t, it has only made things worse. However, at the same time I think it is raising even more awareness of just how poor our officials are. They now have extra eyes and video replays and often still come to what appears to be the wrong decisions.
The need for transparency is now an absolute must. A good start would be to implement a system whereby any controversial decisions are actually explained- even if this is only by a weekly game by game statement on the Monday morning. Something has to change.
Excellent leader Mahe!
It could go either way I guess but for the moment I’m going to:
Walk On – with hope in my heart.
I’m hoping that the SFA will surely realise that they’re walking into the Last Chance Saloon here. There’s not much more ordinary fans can take. Clearly, Celtic fans are incensed with events on the pitch this season but incredibly, if you look into HunMedia they bizarrely appear to be almost equally unhappy.I can’t for the life of me understand this – but they are!
Not asking Lord Nimmo Smith to conduct an investigation into refereeing in Scotland would be a promising start! 🙄
Afternoon all! Jobo, transparency is the key to success. Communication with all interested parties, from Clubs to media to fans to sponsors/investors would create a platform for honesty an fairness. T he technology exists to release an explanation/reason for decisions with an audio and video trail very soon after a game, it should be standard procedure. It almost seems too simple…

You remind me of an Isaac Asimov short story of unforeseen consequences.
In my memory the main character was a clever inventor who lost his baby daughter. This was in days before mobile phone cameras.
So struck by grief was he that he set about building a device that let him watch any event in the past and through which he could spend time re living past memories of picnics, holidays, meals etc with is family (not to mention bedroom romps – Asimov didn’t but I
couldn’t resist giving it a mention before anyone else did.)
The device was marketed but it was not long before the unforeseen consequence stopped being unseen and changed human behaviour.
What he had not realised is that the past started a nano second after the present and what folk did just a second or two earlier was there for all to see. Complete transparency and the unforeseen consequence of that was that folk stopped behaving as they did when that behaviour was secret ( you don’t steal an apple if you know you are being watched) .
Had Asimov’s device been around now there would be no secret 5 Way Agreement but in my Slow Glass post earlier transparency is already here, but just not as immediate. The folk behind the 5WA have to come to terms with that.
The full plot that cover my memory gaps can be read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dead_Past
Auldheid, ‘ As I was pointing out when I said self interest always wins, that at some point if Masonic ploys cross a line that impacts on the other non Masonic players interests, the latter will act.’
I know this, mate, and your point wasn’t lost.
All I’ve reiterated is that the self evident fact is that nothing has been done about any of their prior crimes so why would anything change now?
Besides, in this instance I was just repeating what Ralph had written about Greg Aitken not being impartial so maybe you’d be better taking this one up with him as it’s his piece, not mine.
Again it’s a question of trust and you trust them and I don’t as the proof is in the fact that they ALL got away with the Rangers scam and are still getting away with it, indeed the BBC &. UK media is rammed to the rafters with former EBT recipients and I can almost guarantee you that every single one of them is a Freemason.
So, no, Auldheid, I don’t let my ‘belief’ that it’s Freemasonry running the game blind me as I have no beliefs, I just let the self evident facts lead me where they lead and then decide if they further inform my knowledge or not.
And what the facts have taught me is that Freemasonry plays a key role in the running of the world.
Cheers.
CFC
‘The Aitken appointment- crass stupidity or absolute contempt?’
My point precisely.
And, Auldheid it doesn’t require everyone to be a Freemason for their scams to work, it just takes one or two in key positions and a bunch of unknowing workers doing the job for them.
In Scottish fitba, however, the fact that around 90% of the refs are Protestant Freemasons should be enough to concern us.
I suspect these claims are beginning to irk you so I suggest you read some of Tom Minogue’s excellently written experiences with Freemasonry if you haven’t already.
Eye opening, if you’ll pardon the pun.

Was thinking that as well.
Another thought is it could be win win for them.
We get cheated rotten and lose.
We hammer Kilmarnock, as we should. They point out that Celtic won which proves we are unjustifiably paranoid about the officials appointed to our games.
Exactly, Frodshambhoy.
The SFA, despite all appearances, are in no way stupid, they might be crass and they might only be following orders but they are not stupid.p or they’d all be in jail already.
They just like rubbing our noses in it every chance they get so stupidity is no excuse for them and I wouldn’t even dare attempt to offer it.
In fact, I wouldn’t offer anything in those Hun scum’s mitigation.

‘ if you look into HunMedia they bizarrely appear to be almost equally unhappy.I can’t for the life of me understand this – but they are!’
This is a very old deflection trick they’re playing whereby they make it look like they have as many reasons to moan about refs as we have, despite them hosting the same refs at their ludges every week.
There’s another screenshot from the Hun on Twitter who says ‘Greg Aitken is a good Brother, he’s in my ludge’ and another Hun responds along the lines of ‘Take that down, ya daftie’, it’s part of the same thread Ralph posted on ETims today, with that key second part missing.
It’s like their NewCo being the OldCo trick, they’ll swear it’s true til they’re blue in the face, or they’ll make your face black n blue for saying otherwise.
In fact, it’s exactly what Alec McLesih does in the Daily Rancid today by saying Martin O’Neill is wrong to say Celtic were cheated by the refs back in the day, when we all know Celtic were denied two more league titles under some appealing refereeing decisions and the by now well known fact that Jimmy Calderwood ordered his Dunfermline side to lie down to Rangers in their title decider in 2003, exactly as Chris Sutton said at the time.
They learn this shut in the ludges, any grievances we have they copy and at the moment it seems like everything Celtic does they copy.
But it’s all just a charade to cover for their LRA Brothers, which is why they’re absolutely shitting bricks this week now that talk of refs declaring their allegiance is back in the foreground.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the main reason for this emergency summit, to find a way to prevent that from happening, as otherwise we’d have no refs left and they’d have no chance of winning a league title ever again.
They’re lying conmen, even the support, as I grew up with them and watched them pull these daft stunts all my life.

Their game, their rules.
Prove it ain’t so, as the song goes.
I don’t see stupidity, The smart ones operating at an Establishment high live in plain sight. Always have done.
I see a contemptuous sneer.
They’re so used to treating us with contempt with no comeback because, as you say, it’s their game and their rules.
And Celtic have so far done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to change any of it, not even multiple assaults on their players, staff and support have seen one peep out the board, the most recent last week, and not even once in their 20 odd years in charge of Celtic have the board said one word.
The only time the PLC have ever complained was when they were calling their own fans ‘Anti Semitic & Racist’, when they weren’t providing the cops with the addresses of The Green Brigade so they could get busted at 6 in the morning …
And now we’re suddenly expected to trust them and that everything’s gonna change because they’re gonna have another meeting …
TLR
You make some very good points there.
Can you shed any light on the “well known fact that Jimmy Calderwood ordered his Dunfermline side to lie down to Rangers”. Has there ever been any evidence provided to support this? I know how we all felt at the time, and I don’t doubt it happened, but apart from his announcement on radio pre- match that “he was only there for the party” I don’t recall any incriminating evidence.
I’m sure if there is you will know! 😉
Cheers, Billy, but it appears the evidence that came out a year or so later where the Dunfermline players themselves said they were told to ‘go easy’ on Rangers at half time has been removed, as is common in cases where the crooks get away with it, though I did find this and will keep searching meantime.
https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/jimmy-calderwood-hated-celtic-much-16781537
But you must have heard at the time that Chris Sutton’s claims were proven right on the day, claims for which he was hauled up on a charge of bringing the game into disrepute, when even the dugs in the street knew Dunfermline had threw the game In the Huns’ favour.
Back to my search …
No luck, Billy, it seems they’ve scrubbed it from the net, but any opposition manager who says before a title decider against Rangers that they’re ‘only there for the party’ is just rubbing the Celtic support’s nose in it.
I’ll continue checking later as I’ve things to do now but it looks like it’s been entirely scrubbed.
HH
VAR, brought in mid season, half arsed, with 6 cameras (and that’s debatable),to assist only 1 Klub……
I often wonder just how gullible Celtic fans are. Do we honestly expect anything other than a carefully worded ‘move along Timmy nothing to see here’ statement coming from the Professional Game Board and the SFA meeting? For me, the only real proof those within the Celtic board have finally unilaterally acted in the interests of Celtic FC and its support rather than their usual practices of lying to and fleecing the support, as well as their well-documented continual participation in the continuity myth, will be an unequivocal statement to the effect Scots refs/assistants / VAR operatives must declare their footballing allegiances as they do in the English leagues? Not enough trained refs to cover if that were implemented – a simple solution, employ a few European-based refs until such time sufficient numbers of non-partisan Scots refs are trained. Celtic should offer to help cover the financial implementation of such a scheme.
As usual, hoping for the best but expecting to be disappointed.
‘ “It appears there’s a culture at Celtic that if anything goes against them a conspiracy theory comes out. The best thing now would be a full retraction and that would kill it stone dead.’ John Yorkston, Dunfermline chairman 2003.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2003/may/31/newsstory.sport6
Sutton still refuses to retract his claim, which is no surprise given that at least one Dunfermline player DID come out a year or two later and say he was right and Jimmy had ordered them to ‘go easy’ at half time.
Anyone remember the shocking news that Jimmy Calderwood and Jimmy Nicholl were almost appointed as Celtic’s management in 2009?

Evening all,
Whit do you call a Scottish guy who’s halfway in and halfway out his hoose?
Hamish.
The Banshees of Inisherin has won three major prizes at the Golden Globes. The film won best comedy, best screenplay, and best comedy actor for Colin Farrell.
A recommended must-see. An absolutely fantastic movie. My own personal take on the movie is that it is a subtle allegory of Ireland during the Irish civil war (June 1922 – May 1923) with former close friends in conflict, one wishes to explore new ideas and leave the old ways behind whereas the other wants everything to remain as it was with tragic consequences for both protagonists. Farrell and Gleeson are immense in the lead roles.

Billy Bhoy 6.01pm .
Only from memory.
On route to Rugby Park , on the day in question, I clearly heard Jimmy Calderwoods reply to the radio dude prior to Dunfermline playing at Ibrox.
“ It’s a big day and we’re here to play our part in the occasion “
Meanwhile at Rugby Park , Kilmarnock we’re bursting a gut not to get beaten on the own turf . It was a grass park in 2003. Nothing wrong with Killie bursting a gut , to get a result. The likelihood of Dunfermline doing the same was doubtful.
Why .
On route to Ibrox, the players dropped off their bags and suitcases at a rendezvous point. They were flying out that night for an end of season jolly.
Calderwood no doubt, did enjoy the occasion. Years later it was revealed from Calderwood , that he got the Dunfermline job on the strength of a recommendation from the cheating knight , Sir David Murray .
I’m also sure that one of the directors at Dunfermline was the bloke who controlled the purse strings at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The very same guy who let Sur David borrow £millions , on the strength of their friendship .
This went on for years.
It only stopped when Lloyds Bank took over the BOS and immediately pulled the plug on the outrageous Ibrox spending.
Lloyds eventually wrote off approx £90 million, owed by Sur David.
If you scratch the surface , Chris Sutton was spot on .
