Time to bully The Buddies

I’m delighted we face Saint Mirren tonight. It’s a middle of the week pick me up, a night game under the floodlights which is always nice and usually promotes a good atmosphere, plus there’s some revenge to be had. Not only that but there’s a decent chance of a debut, constantly interesting.
I wish I was attending to be honest.

The obvious candidate for a debut is Tomaki Iwata, he’s had a bit of a rest after the J-League concluded, and it would be incorrect to assume players need time to acclimatize after watching Kyogo, Hatate, and recently Johnson flung right into the action. We do sign ready for the here and now players, and all signs point to the chap being ready. I’m really hoping he makes an appearance tonight, and if cruising the first sight of Yuki would be nice.

However, if cruising the very first thing to do is wrap Kyogo in cotton wool so to speak,,once it’s won, haul him off. With the uncertainty surrounding G-Mak a lot of weight falls on his shoulders, he’s now our most valuable player tasked with bagging the title (and more) winning goals.

On the transfer speculation I’m fully relaxed. It’s not as if the boss hasn’t been helped this window, his eye for a player assures me those that depart shall be adequately replaced if deemed necessary, and I firmly believe the league title shall be retained regardless of comings and goings. In Ange I trust, he’s delivering (statistically better than this time last year) and we will be tweaking things (Iwata, left sided centre back Yuki, new striker looking imminent) with the aim of improving overall while others grow more accomplished in their role (Maeda, Hatate, Taylor). Signs remain positive, we walk on with hope on our hearts, and one hand on the title.

Our previous league fixture performance wasn’t very sparkling, still won though, but Im hoping tonights occasion offering some sweet payback inspires a statement. Between the derby draw, the alleged Hand of Lawell interference, Hampdens probable penalty, and shock over a reported selling fee, the club could do with some truly positive vibes and I can think of nothing better than a resounding victory under the lights in our very own midden to impress the support and depress the rest.

I don’t doubt St Mirren will be as difficult to break down as any of the rest who visit.
As always a fast start and early goal helps.
There is definitely something more thrilling about a game under floodlights.

According to Ange, as far as he’s aware no one is leaving – as things stand.
GG will be needed at some point during the game.

For accuracy’s sake and respect to our new on loan recruit his first name is Tomoki, not Tomaki.
Hopefully, worthy of the the shortened version Tom(m)o, like his illustrious Hunskelping predecessor.

I know why you added the last paragraph but I wouldn’t listen to the pish coming out of our media, they know nothing. Ange was very clear about player movements last night.

Accordingly to the media in regards to g-mak for example and take your pick; unsettled due to wage dispute; he and family unsettled in Glesga; doesn’t get enough play time affecting his development; a low ball release clause, bah bah

If revenge is a dish best served cold,we should be in for a gourmet meal tonight. It’s gonna be freezing!

Caution advised for all,I think. Especially if you’ve been for a few to warm the marrow of yer bones first.

Fair play to Ange for pitching JJ straight into the team at Hampden.

That was a battle.

Surprising when you consider the player is expected to be sold for big money.

The League Cup has been a really enjoyable tournament over the past decade or so.

It would be magical if Celtic win the thing, because the club thoroughly deserves to win it.

Good morning, friends.
In yesterdays press conference Ange hinted quite strongly that there would be a few changes from Saturday’s starting line up although as I’ve been saying regularly recently, I no longer focus on the starting 11 but the likely 14 or 15 outfield players that will feature for at least half an hour. And within that number it would be great to see both of our more recent Japanese signings, perhaps giving Starfelt a (ahem) rest?
In other news, a very big happy 52nd birthday to a guy who gave me loads of fun a few years ago. A wee rendition for him tonight would be nice – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Whyte

St tams

Wouldn’t be surprised to see JJ at left back tonight and AJ back in at right back, as it’s obvious that Bernabei isn’t ready yet.
Personally I would also like to see Kobayashi get a start alongside CCV

Not really getting your negativity talk — our current situation goes with the territory.

We have a lot of work still to do to get the squad we need going forward.
AP is doing things at warp speed to make up for 3 years of stagnation / CEO failures.
He is 18 months in and we are still very much a work in progress.

I suppose January does that to you — cold / dark / post Christmas downer …

Hopefully we will have less wind and rain tonight and a much pitch.
We owe the Buddies a damn good thrashing and hopefully that is what we deliver.

As for working the squad — it would appear to be that budgets are limited and AP needs to generate his own funds.
Not great but we are currently digging ourselves out of a hole of the board’s making.

Road to Damascus moment last week — P67 @ the Cave now spouting off that CL success is needed to max out the value of the squad.

That is CL success not just participation is now required for us to grow / make the most of our opportunities.
It wasn’t long ago that him and his happy clappers were telling us that the CL was not for the likes of us and the EuL was more our level.

Progress of a sort — or a cheap jibe towards AP regarding our CL results this season.
Being a positive sort of guy — I will see the comment as progress.
Better to learn late than not at all.

Madmitch

New blood tonight — CS looked very shaky at times on Saturday.
AB was 50% good / 49% poor / 1% cheapshot’ed on a regular basis by Killie.

What is it with DMcI and his continual targeting of our LB’s with physical violence?
Still have nightmares about the 2017 SCF.

MF is still not right.
Hopefully AP has a plan.

AM was the best of an off form bunch on Saturday.
RH’s timing / vision / touch were gone in the wind and rain.
CMcG played in fits and starts and didn’t do enough of the much needed basics.

MO’R looks mentally exhausted.
DT still needs to find 3rd gear and play the complete role.

YI / JMcC would appear to be lost without trace.
Hopefully the new bloke is up for the challenge.

16 roads, unreal, eh? its like the last 10 years were just a dream. And what acknowledgement do we get that our biggest rival doesn’t actually exist anymore? We don’t say old firm now …that is it! I’m blown away by how docile our whole support has become.

The need for an adversary?
Their hateful fan base is unchanged and whatever monstrosity was playing out of Ibrox would be accepted as same.
Life would be a lot better in the Scottish football landscape if the continuity “issue” was dealt with as it should have been.
Whatever they are it is undeniable that there is definitely a greater intensity playing them than any other team.

You’ve been told this many times so this probably won’t make any difference, but it would be much easier on the eye and surely not any harder to type McInnes than type DMcI. As for your insistence on referring to Jota as JPNF words just fail me.

Guys

If you want a laugh, Stewart Regan (remember him?) has just popped up on Twitter to criticize the lack of media coverage of Nadhim Zahawi’s £3.7m tax avoidance.😮

The thread that follows deserves to be published in a hardback book! 😂

Perhaps events of 2012 keep him awake at night and this is him trying for atonement? 🤔

How about Jenz with CCV to start and Starfelt at left back to deter the long ball to our smaller LBs.

If it works bring in Kobayashi later?

Regan? Listen to him justify SFA not investigating 2011 licence on totally false grounds in this series of tweets began by RTC calling out what happened in 2011 for what it was FRAUD!. If you look at subsequent tweets you will see it probably covered the ebt decade not just one year.

My mate and I were talking about that tactic from the opposition every time we play at home.
The Kilmarnock no 2 Mayo, must have had a sore head , the amount of times he won the ball in the air from the kick outs.
Why not just switch left back and left sided centre half at kick outs .
As for playing Starfelt at left back , please no.

Just knew it was coming, SMSM with Ajeti return pish ‘Albian Ajeti offers Celtic transfer solution as forgotten flop’s revival could quell panic buy temptation’ I Hope PL doesn’t read that however on reflection he probably started the ‘rumour’🤨👀

Big Audio Dynamite

CFC, impossible to argue that. I think you hit the nail on the head with your point about an adversary, as it is basically the foundation of all sports.

If it was us that were being liquidated, do you think we would be saying all the same stuff the Huns have been spouting for a decade? You think we would find a company we could sacrifice to save the club? 😉 Can’t imagine there being no Celtic, but it’s interesting to think how our support would have handled their predicament.

HH 🍀

St tams

Starfelt, is woeful in possession of the ball.
As was seen in game last Saturday, when Kilmarnock allowed him him loads of possession ,advancing into their half. As he has not got a clue what to do with it.

BAD…we did handle it! Fergus came in and invested the cash on the promise of opening the Club up to supporters to invest. We did. When more cash was needed we did again but unfortunately he also took DD’s dosh, too. Another unfortunate call was asking the investing support to put their divis back in to help the Club – again we did but DD’s Divis went straight to DD!!
Both clubs have been on the brink…one survived and prospered (although the nature of the prosperity is subjective), the other died.

CFC

I don’t think we’d have that option as the Establishment in all its forms- legal, media, sporting etc would have consigned us to history.
No continuity myth via “engine room subsidiary” for us.

Big Audio Dynamite

McCaff, I asked what we’d be saying if it was Celtic that was being liquidated. As it’s never happened, we can only speculate about how we would feel and act had it occurred. I’ve thought often about wether I’d be in denial, and how I would deal with having a new club in its place.

I’ve decided I’d be standing in a river in Egypt …

Big Audio Dynamite

CFC, bang on the money, mate

D R M

BAD if celtic did what they did and stole money that should be going to essential services through our tax or left small businesses to go to the wall or things like not paying Scottish ambulance service for match day provision I would be embarrassed to be associated with that.

big packy

CFC/ BAD think of the late great tommy burns, he was manager of celtic when them bassas from govan were cheating HM governmemt\ paul Gascoigne the laudrup guy and many more, walter smith must have been in seventh heaven, we played to the rules they did not,,and that is a true story👍

Aye ok, BAD, I shoulda taken the time to properly read the post!
My underlying point remains, though, that there’s an inherent difference between the two tribes. The RFC support stood by waiting for their club to be bought/saved or whatever it would take whereas Fergus had a game plan than involved foresight and hard cash. His plan was to buy the Club but ended up buying earlier than intended because of the BoS proposal to call in the debt. He knew the severity of the situation and didn’t allow it to happen. Murray et al, right down to the man in the street knew what was happening with their mob and watched it die.
DRM…I’m with BAD, and I can sympathise with the Huns in this regard, I think I’d be in denial if we were in their situation. The circumstances of monies owed would be hard to swallow but so would the loss of your team. We have so much emotion invested in it that it’d be seriously difficult to give it up!

Big Audio Dynamite

DRM, great point. Aye, there are a good few sides to take into account.
It’s definitely not just a simple matter of wanting your football team around …lots to consider 👍

D R M

Mccaff everyone is different but I have supported celtic my 57 years because of how they play football and because they take part in a sport by fairly abiding by the rules of the sport.
As everyone knows I am disappointed in celtics silence and complicity in the fraud but i won’t go into my usual rant

SFTB

Over a dozen still to trap for Superbru tonight

DRM…I agree with you completely but since we’re dealing with hypothesis nothing could really prepare us for how we would deal with it unless we were to experience it for real.
My hypothesis is that I devote so much time to Celtic that it would leave a massive gap in my life, ergo I can sympathise with the Huns and would probably be in denial about the truth of the situation.

CFC

b p

Aye, Tommy was cheated all right during the Murray years, aided and abetted by the likes of bigot Farry.

D R M

Mccaff I totally get that. I spent 25 years going to every game home and away and regularly getting bank loans to go to European games (neuchetal the worst).
Once I stopped attending games I missed the social side more than the 90 minutes of football but now I watch a game when I can on TV and maybe its because I am older and now living on arran I don’t miss it and I found other things to do.

Big Audio Dynamite

McCaff, no problem 👍

It is incredible how different we are, eh?
I genuinely think the majority of our fans would carry on regardless.
Guys just want a football team to love.
And once you are that invested, it makes it really difficult to just walk away.
It’s a dilemma though.
