Hunday Funday?

Morning,all.

So it is confirmed. We have another match to play against our “rivals” across the city, this time in the Scottish Cup semi-final. The match is scheduled for 29 April,a Saturday. Normally the cops would put their foot down on this one and demand that it be played on the Sunday, but there is little chance of that as the two teams were first out of the hat. And them’s the rules, first teams drawn get to play on the Saturday. You can believe that if you like, but it is likely to be a noon kick-off on the Sunday.

The SFA have really not done themselves any favours here. Of course, the match will be a sellout. Of course,it will draw huge numbers for the broadcaster Viaplay. But to schedule it for a Bank Holiday Weekend is absolutely senseless. Mind you,the SPFL aren’t much better-they’ve scheduled our next league meeting with them for the Easter Weekend. Fortunately,Easter Monday isn’t a Bank Holiday in Scotland this year for some reason, which might encourage some sense and save our overstretched NHS from even more problems.

Aye,right. Neither weekend will be pretty, either beforehand or afterwards. But it is always the case when we play them, and that is why I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I rue the day they were manipulated into the league set-up in 2012. Against more rules and regulations than you can shake a stick at.

Let’s be honest here. We knew in 2012 that they would be back, given a few years. It was only thanks to their own incompetence that they weren’t back a year earlier, giving us that little bit more breathing space. And I freely admit that there are few things better,as a Celtic supporter, than giving them a damned good thrashing. I’ve witnessed a good few of them in my time, and a lot more on tv too. Every one of them has been an absolute pleasure.

But I truly wish that when they died, they had simply stayed that way. That their fans had to find some other way to spend their time. Sure, there would probably have been another team playing out of the same stadium, same colours. But having to start from scratch, history down the toilet, just how many of their supremacist winning-is-everything fans do you think would have stuck around for it? Many of us can remember their crowds in the late 70s and early 80s,and there’s your answer. A Primary Three schoolkid could have counted them off at the half-time break!

But heyho,we missed our chance and this is not the time to go into the reasons for that. They are well-documented,after all. If play them we must, then play them we will. We certainly have nothing to fear from them, based on what we have already seen this season, and even before that. There is the added attraction of a final against Falkirk or ICT,and we have some history with both of them in this trophy that I would like to see avenged. But history it is,and really,I doubt the players will be giving a monkey’s about some cup-ties twenty and twentyfive years ago. And certainly not in the semi-final.

Their only focus on the day will be beating what is in front of them. And that is how it should be,how it always is under Ange. Think about the next game when the time arrives,we still have this one to win! But never mind the history against the teams we might face in the final,we have history against this mob too-and plenty of it. It’s time we beat them at this stage of the competition, and the memory will still be fresh-and painful-from last season. CalMac will also remember back to 2016,which was probably a blessing in disguise.

Never mind the history, fellas. Go out there and make your own.

Update on the JOBO POTY Competition.

*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2022-23*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #41 – HEARTS 0 CELTIC 3 (MOOY, KYOGO, CARTER-VICKERS) *
Good morning, friends. And it’s good to be back home!
I did manage to get to The Irish Fiddler in Costa Adeje to see Saturday’s quarter final decapitation of Hearts and felt that it was one of our best performances of the season. We could have been 2 up before Mooy scored the opener after 100 seconds – talk about a fast start! We now find ourselves just 2 Hampden performances away from winning Ange his first Scottish Cup and quite possibly another treble. We really should savour these special times where the entertainment on offer is quite fantastic.

Domestically this season we have now played 34, winning 32, drawing 1 and losing 1, scoring 115 and conceding 23.
A huge thank you to the 65 who emailed me with their 3 nominations. The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked. And even though I was clearly out on a limb I thought that Greg Taylor had a fantastic game!

Hart: 7
Johnstone: 31
Carter-Vickers*: 56
Starfelt: 0
Taylor*: 1
McGregor: 2
Hatate: 13
Mooy: 37
Jota*: 27
Kyogo: 21
Haksabanovic: 0
Kobayashi: 0
Abada: 0
Oh: 0
O’Riley: 0
Iwata: 0

And so the players receiving POINTS for the game against Hearts are –
Carter-Vickers – 5 pts
Mooy – 4 pts
Johnstone – 3 pts
Jota – 2 pts
Kyogo – 1 pt

An interesting development (for anoraks like me!!) – that’s 3 games in a row where Hatate hasn’t made the Top 5. Not because his own performances have dipped but rather that others have all upped their game. Particularly Carter-Vickers who, in the last 6 games has been MOTM twice, runner up once and 3rd placed twice. But can he close the gap at the top……..

So, after 41 games the overall standings are as shown below –
86 points – Hatate
70 points – Carter-Vickers
51 points – Jota and Mooy
44 points – Kyogo
43 points – McGregor and Taylor
31 points – Abada
28 points – O’Riley
26 points – Maeda
22 points – Jenz
19 points – Johnston and Starfelt
16 points – Haksabanovic
13 points – Giakoumakis and Juranovic
10 points – Ralston
9 points – Bernabei and Welsh
8 points – Forrest
7 points – Hart
5 points – Turnbull
4 points – Kobayashi
0 points – Abildgaard, Iwata, Lawal, McCarthy, Oh, Siegrist and Vata

Our next game sees us return to league business on Saturday when we have a 3pm home kick off against Hibs. As things stand, we need 22 points from our final 10 games to be crowned Champions. Again!
Hail Hail!

I’ll still maintain that any Tim who pays to go see Celtic play huns since 2012 is just a fuckin wank

MAGS

Yer a major loss to The Diplomatic Corps. As I said,I’d rather they had stayed dead, like any other self-respecting corpse. But there ye go,three more games against the deady bears. What do you want-the whole stadium full of huns? Not wise, not for me.

Margaret McGill

Bobby
So much energy on the dead?
As I said

Highland Paddy

I’m absolutely DESPERATE to overtake the trebles table over Rangers (Rot in hell) and their Ten and a half year old bar-steward child Sevco !

We have every single other record over them so this one is MASSIVE…
Probably best to get them in the semi – win and it’d be some party till June 3rd for sure –

C’mon Ange and your Hoops Heroes – one trophy to complete your set… write your name again into Celtic history…
Probably better to get Falkirk from a footy division perspective in the final, but I had the misfortune to spend a day in that town and it seemed like a Hun Hell Hole, so from a fans’ perspective the good folks of Inverness would seem a better bet – plus we have a lot of unfinished business v them to conclude !

🎵 Bring on The Bairns, The Jags, The Sevco… Bring on The Spaniards by the score ! 🎵

Margaret McGill

Aye

CFC

Hibs,(h) Ross C (a), Huns,(h) Killie (a), M’well (h) then Huns at Hampden.

A very winnable series of games. No midweeks so plenty of time for Ange fine tuning on the training pitch. One game at a time.
League just about in the bag with victory at home over them on 8th.
Huns have Aberdeen away the week before the Semi.Usually a competitive affair! Lose that and we are effectively champions- all being equal. 15 points ahead. 5 games to play.

April defining their season.
Be very nice to send them on Holiday before May Day.

CFC

“Bobby

As I said”

Paying supporter is a “fuckin Wank”?
You besmirch every season ticket holder, as they pay to see the Huns twice.

That sort of foul antagonism should see you barred from this site. But you get a free pass on here to spout your venom.

Like it or not our biggest rival, by a distance.

CFC

Furthermore your:
“I still maintain that any Tim who pays to go see Celtic play huns since 2012 is just a fuckin wank”

suggests you have difficulty disassociating the Ibrox entities by referring to such as Huns.
Displays a strong sense of cognitive dissonance.
Are they the same huns as before or new ones to you?

JimmynotPaul

Mahe.
From last night.
Yip. Since 2002, 5 times Celtic and Rangers/Sevco have been in the Scottish Cup, semi draw and 5 out of 5 they have been drawn against, each other.
So it’s odds of 2/1, x 5 times of that happening, before 1st draw. 243/1.
So not impossible, but still quite high.
I reckon Police Scotland, are calling the shots and don’t want a cup final in May/June between them.
Of course, I have no actual evidence of this because it doesn’t happen in the League Cup Final.

Madmitch

SFA / SPFL — no sporting integrity.
Current Tartan establishment aka the Polis policy is no SCF between us and the TFOD2.1.

Ludge MIB will have less scrutiny in any semi-final compared to a final.
Compare and contrast last season’s SCSF vs this season’s LCF — a lot less cheating in the latter game.
Plus the Polis don’t want the season ending in cheating / controversy — would make for a long hot summer.

SC this season — bit of a joke.
To make it hard for us — Hertz in the QF.
Plus the rest of the SPL — or most of it — has imploded in the cup games.

The second SF will be for purists only — might surprise us and get a good crowd.
No matter the SPL is turning out to be even more insular than normal.
Oh for a Perth Saints cup run.

Last night — Falkirk tried to play football.
Good coaching but the skill level has a bit of catching up to do.

Scottish Cup semi final Rangers v Celtic .

Not yet announced but it’s a stick-on. Nick Walsh got the League Cup final and had a good game, to be fair. However, this is last chance saloon for the Govan outfit.

Jobo Baldie

Good morning, friends.
Bobby, I think there’s a bit of an urban myth developing regarding semi final draws. As far as I’m aware there’s no rule saying that the first teams drawn play on the Saturday. So until more details come out we need to wait and see.
Normally the non-BBC company, in this case Viaplay, pick which game they want to show and that’s usually on the Sunday. It was the same when it was BT or Sky who had the rights. The BBC then get the other game which is usually on the Saturday lunchtime.
An added factor this year is that on Sunday 29th April there’s the Glasgow Kiltwalk which leaves the City Centre at 9am. So if our game is at Hmpden on the Sunday it might be a later than usual kick off?

Pretty sure that the “first teams drawn play Saturday” has been used against us a few times previously. Hence why we were playing on a ploughed field after the day before.

Is it possible we never gave Walsh the opportunity to affect the outcome of the league cup final.

Again, another uneventful somewhat boring day. My weight is 58.25 kgs, and no medical complaints. I read the papers, which are full of trash.

Tonight’s tea was pie and beans, and although hunger may fuel my imagination (it looked a powerful-sized meal), I don’t exaggerate: the beans were nearly falling off the plate. If I said this all the time to the lads, they would worry about me, but I’m all right.

It was inviting (I’m human too) and I was glad to see it leave the cell. Never would I have touched it, but it was a starving nuisance. Ha! My God, if it had have attacked, I’d have fled.

I was going to write about a few things I had in my head but they’ll wait. I am looking forward to the brief company of all the lads at Mass tomorrow. You never know when it could be the last time that you may ever see them again.

I smoked some cigarettes today. We still defeat them in this sphere. If the Screws only knew the half of it; the ingenuity of the POW is something amazing. The worse the situation the greater the ingenuity. Someday it may all be revealed.

On a personal note, Liam Og (the pseudonym for Bobby Sands’ Republican Movement contact on the outside), I just thought I’d take this opportunity tonight of saying to your good hard-working self that I admire you all out there and the unselfish work that you all do and have done in the past, not just for the H-Blocks and Armagh, but for the struggle in general.

I have always taken a lesson from something that was told me by a sound man, that is, that everyone, Republican or otherwise, has his own particular part to play. No part is too great or too small, no one is too old or too young to do something.

There is that much to be done that no select or small portion of people can do, only the greater mass of the Irish nation will ensure the achievement of the Socialist Republic, and that can only be done by hard work and sacrifice.

So, mo chara, for what it’s worth, I would like to thank you all for what you have done and I hope many others follow your example, and I’m deeply proud to have known you all and prouder still to call you comrades and friends.

On a closing note, I’ve noticed the Screws have been really slamming the cell doors today, in particular my own. Perhaps a good indication of the mentality of these people, always vindictive, always full of hate. I’m glad to say that I am not like that.

Well, I must go to rest up as I found it tiring trying to comb my hair today after a bath.

So venceremos, beidh bua againn eigin la eigin. Sealadaigh abu.

(Translated, this reads as follows:)

So venceremos, we will be victorious someday. Up the Provos.

The thing about playing “The Rangers” is it brings out the worst in everybody on both sides.

The more we face them the worse we all become.

I cannot remember last time I attended a live game via them.

Mid 60s, perhaps one game in 70s.

The worst in me is not who I want to be.

Chacun a son goose.

In fairness it can bring out the funniest side of us.

In response to your question on the Cheltenham Competition.

There isn’t an entry fee as such, but when the winner is announced he will nominate a charity for all entrants who can afford it to donate a fiver to.

I think I’ll do that with the Royal Ascot competition too. A great idea from CHALMERSBHOY.

Isn’t it strange that the site policy is No Personal Insults yet Mags can come on whenever he likes and insult the entire Celtic support, including Bobby’s family, and get away with it, when other posters would be instantly barred for life?

Why is he continuously let away with this hatred, venom and bile for the Celtic support?

What has he ever done for this site to warrant such kid gloves treatment from the admin?

Hypocrisy CSC

Bobby doesn’t even apologise to the posters for his friend’s errant behaviour but instead lets it go on, week after week, month after month ad infinitum.

I’ve never seen such a low level of disrespect for a site’s posters than here to let that vile minded man away with such attacks on Celtic supporters.

Despicable behaviour.

Prestonpans bhoys

Craig76

Honestly what a barking mad idea. I said yesterday about the Miller piece, take the keyboard away from him. The quality of contributions from ex players/managers over the past few years has been embarrassing!

Jobo Baldie

Hypocrisy CSC – well said. I thought that this morning’s post was a real new low. I was certainly disturbed to be tarred with that label.

Hypocrisy CSC

Utterly outrageous, Jobo, with the timid response from the admin almost just as bad.

The fact this has been going on for so long with impunity must lend the lowlife even greater strength in thinking up even lower attacks on the good people of this site and the Celtic support at large.

The word ‘despicable’ doesn’t even come close to the sewer level of his garbled hate filled mind.

If anyone else tried this they would rightfully be barred for life but not Mags, oh no, he can insult every poster on the site, including the admin’s family, plus the entire Celtic support in one fell swoop then sit back laughing to himself at the toothlessness of the admin’s alleged rule of No Personal Insults.

How the posters put up with being insulted like this I’ll never know.

Margaret McGill

I think many Tims pay to see the resuscitated dead because they need something to hate rather than let it go.
I’m willing to fulfill that role for you.

Hypocrisy CSC

How very brave of you.

And your friend Bobby is happy for you to adopt this role while insulting his posters who are NOT of a filthy low level mind like your own, yes?

Margaret McGill

I blame the PLC and catholic schools for this hatred. Anyway this time for sure I will leave SC and leave you all to indulge in your OF bile.It was a pleasure.

CFC

Hypocrisy CSC

I’m happy to call out his venom, like I did this morning.

If more were to do the same the message might get across.

Apart from you, and belatedly Jobo, no one seems to find what he said offensive.

Maybe that’s why he carries on regardless.

Hypocrisy CSC

Oh, so it’s the Catholic schools now, is it?!

Good grief, man, don’t you understand that the problem here is YOU and how you conduct yourself on these pages?

Who do you think you are to insult every good Celtic supporter?

Who gave you the right to speak to and about people like that?

You’re a disgrace as a man and ought to reflect on this fact but we all know you’ll be back next week with the same hatred and bile and Bobby will tolerate your filth all over again just like he does every other time, even if you’re calling his own family members that foul term with which you did earlier.

Besides, you have more strops on here than anyone, only to quickly return with no self reflection or apology for your foul words and thoughts and resume your despicable position unfettered.

But of course it’s never your fault, Mags, so it MUST be the fault of the Catholic schools …

Good grief, you’re an embarrassment.

Hypocrisy CSC

I note that you did, CFC, but that should be the admin’s job, not that of individual posters.

Instead the admin makes timid little jokes and continues to dance around him meekly.

I know better than that 😁

Hypocrisy CSC

Bobby is the admin, Big Packy.

The problem is that he allows that despicable creature Mags to insult everyone to his heart’s content and the more he gets away with it the lower his insults go.

This is because he has no shame and he has no shame because he has no moral compass because he believes, through his fraudulent self regarding ‘science’ that ‘God is dead’ and therefore his social outlook is one of Do What Thou Wilt, that is, he can insult anyone and everyone with total impunity, at least online.

Face to face however, I suspect would be a very different matter, certainly as far as I’m concerned.
