Away Days

As we return from that international break,we once again find ourselves playing after our rivals. In an ideal world,we would be kicking off at the same time as them. But then, the games wouldn’t be on the telly. Can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs.

Apparently, the regularity with which we play domestic games after they have played theirs amounts to greater than 80%. A very curious anomaly. Even if hardly a surprising one. And it’s one helluva round trip for the players and the fans. Oh!!! recently mentioned that he had discussed with Heung-Min Son the effects of gruelling trips back home. A bus trip to Dingwall might just come as a shock to him!

But to the game itself. If I’m honest,I bear no ill-will towards this team. Came from nowhere, and have done themselves and their town proud. There are only around 5000 people live there, and who could possibly grudge them their place at the top table? I’ve been in pubs with more people than that! But having lost 60% of their matches this season to date, they are in danger of losing that place.

That makes tomorrow a lot more difficult than it might appear on paper,or on the fixed odds coupons. They are fighting for survival with less than a quarter of the season to go. Only two points from the bottom, and every point is a prisoner. No such thing as a gimme at this stage of the season.

An added complication is that Ange has suggested that James Forrest,Liel Abada and Anthony Ralston are in the treatment room, while Reo Hatate and Aaron Mooy are struggling to make it.

This makes LEGGY’s kind offer of £20 to the person who can nearest predict the starting line-up ridiculously difficult. I congratulate in advance the winner of that one, they deserve it!

However,no matter how much County will know how important each game is,so too do we. We need to maintain our momentum as we head into the latter stages now. We need too to avoid further injuries, and that will probably mean erring on the side of caution when judging whether individuals are 100%.

I’ll be watching it as usual. I have faith in our manager and players, which they have certainly earned. As always, the three points is more important than a sublime performance. But I’ll happily settle for both!

Great goal by Milan.

April 2, 2023 8:11 pm

And another,2-0

April 2, 2023 8:12 pm

Napoli 0 Milan 2

April 2, 2023 8:13 pm

Potter no longer Chelsea manager.

April 2, 2023 8:14 pm

Potter binned too.

April 2, 2023 8:21 pm

Potter gets the ‘Ruud Gullit’.

That gets me twitchy.

April 2, 2023 8:28 pm

Chelski play Real Madrid soon in Champions League quarter finals. They might be looking for a manager with some experience playing the Galacticos in the CL recently.
Uh! Oh!

April 2, 2023 8:40 pm

That’s a round dozen EPL clubs that have fired their manager this season.

April 2, 2023 8:41 pm

Some of them twice!

Wonder if Brendan might pitch up at Stamford Bridge?

April 2, 2023 8:44 pm

I would have to laugh if that happened. I think he was a youth player there.

Graham Potter always struck me as an odd choice for Chelsea, and must have felt like a massive backward step to their fans. I can’t see them going for anyone other than a massive European “name” this time. Got to keep their fan base from crawling back under the stones they emerged from when Abramovich started buying success.

April 2, 2023 8:47 pm

Napoli and Milan face each other in the CL quarter finals in a couple of weeks.

Personally, I can’t see it.

Chelsea supporters, who I couldn’t give an eff for, I would imagine going mental at the thought of getting Leicester City’s cast off manager.

I believe Rogers ego thought that do a decent job there and a major EPL club was a given.

Took Sky 12 seconds to suggest Ange to Leicester City 🤣🤣😂

Potter follows Fraudgers out the door. Just waiting for Klopp to get mutualled to complete the treble.
I bet he won’t sleep well tonight.

I wonder if Slippy G will get a mention for any of these vacancies? 🤔

The rush for Beale on these managerial posts is embarrassing 😳

Superbru Round 31 update

A runaway clear winner of this week’s results forecasting and a closing amongst the top of the Leaderboard on the resumption of proper football.

Our top 3 this week were:-

1. Angel Gabriel- 12.5 pts
2. Leggy 8.5 pts
3. Bognorbhoy – 8 pts

Less spectacularly successful were our bottom 3. Just above the place of shame were kelvinbhoy and TheLurkinTim with 2 points but they could not match the spectacular failings of Belmont Brian who mustered a mighty 1.5 points and a weekly wooden spoon.

The race in the overall Leaderboard, with 7 weeks to go, is getting closer. I will list the Top 5 this week:-

1. A thing of beauty- 183.5 pts
2. Leggy- 181.5 pts
3= Celticrollercoaster- 170 pts
3= Ayrshiretim- 170 pts
5. Call me Gerry168.5 pts

The Top 8 are well placed to make a challenge for the prize money spots.

In the much more challenging race for a genuine wooden spoon, we are looking at

Park Road67 on 106 pts
McCaff- 107.5 pts
LanarkBhoy- 118.5 pts

However, continued weekly efforts by Belmont Brian (119) and TheLurkinTim (118.5) could see them join the fray.

Our next deadline is Saturday 8th April when Celtic have an early kick off against the Govan Upstarts. Let’s see who predicts the biggest winning margin!

Tx again to everyone

Utterly magnificent goal from Milan

The Celtic support would still have the full Broomloan Stand for games @ the Hate Factory,if it wasn’t for Brendan Rodgers.

April 2, 2023 9:10 pm

Why would any manager take the Leicester job, with relegation possibly looming in a few weeks?
At least Chelsea have something to go for.

I think Moyes is a lot closer to the axe than Klopp.

April 2, 2023 9:14 pm

Another superb goal O-4

April 2, 2023 9:14 pm

Four up now.

April 2, 2023 9:15 pm

Milan player goes through Napoli like traffic cones then nutmegs keeper to make it Napoli 0- Milan 4.

April 2, 2023 9:20 pm

It was substitute and Belgian international Alexis Saekemaekers with brilliant dribbling goal. Then he nearly does it again.

April 2, 2023 9:25 pm

The Georgian international left winger, who will face Scotland twice and has torn up Serie A this season, hasn’t showed up today. Milan have shut him out.

April 2, 2023 9:27 pm

Milan have swarmed over Napoli in midfield and up front. And then they break with speed. Terrific to watch.

April 2, 2023 9:28 pm

Napoli are top of the league, 16 points clear of Lazio, and were 23 points clear of Milan before today. This is why this result is such a shocker.

April 2, 2023 9:29 pm

Spot on. The Portuguese lad Leao has been world class, and 36 year old Giroud still has it.

April 2, 2023 9:34 pm

Lyon 0-1 up at PSG after 76 minutes.

April 2, 2023 9:36 pm

Nite all.

No trio of music tonight, however my second favourite sport is boxing,

We lost Ken Buchanan over the weekend, so sad.

Best Scottish boxer, for me, either Benny Lynch or Ken Buchanan?

Buchanan lost his title to Roberto (Hands of Stone) Duran, what a fighter he was. Duran refused to fight Ken a second time,

Duran punched Ken in the ‘haw maw’s.

Here’s Ken in his re-match with Ismael Laguna.

Ken Buchanan vs Ismael Laguna 2

April 2, 2023 9:39 pm

Moussa on for Lacazette at PSG after 70 minutes. Laurent Blanc managed Lyon still leading 1-0. Front 2 for PSG are Messi and Mbappe.

April 2, 2023 9:47 pm

Pugilism, the loneliest sport.

April 2, 2023 9:51 pm

Moussa’s Lyon hold on for win at PSG.

April 2, 2023 10:12 pm

The stand in managers for Spurs, Leicester and Chelski have only a day to get their squads ready for, respectively, Everton tomorrow, and Villa and Liverpool on Tuesday. Situation is farcical.

April 3, 2023 12:26 am

This is the brilliant Napoli left winger from Georgia. He had a quiet game today, but take a peek at him destroying teams, including the Huns and Liverpool. He is a major threat to Scotland.

Here’s something which puzzles me. Why does Taylor have to always try to play on when obviously carrying an injury. Earlier in season his shoulder injury was the first. Lasted less than 10 mins after initial injury but said he was OK. Hibs a few weeks ago. Comes out at halftime runs around sprints etc and obviously tells Ange etc he is good. 10 mins into 2nd half and he has to come off. Yesterday again. Does he now believe he is irreplaceable or is he trying too hard. Either way it will catch us out at some time when he ends up with a long term injury again.
