You cant fight in here, its the War Room!

Substitute War Room for Transfer Committee Room, where things cannot be easy going and relaxed.

It’s now Wednesday, and we haven’t won the week so far. One target was delayed arriving due to needing clearance to travel in, hindsight and all that, which is piss poor from the buying organization who should have been on top of the paperwork issue when serious interest was given the okay.
He may or may not get a days training before Sunday, if he’s not given at least Friday to train and listen then he shouldn’t start.

Alongside this mess there’s a major scramble going on.
Back to Brondy for that kid we’ve known about all summer.
Ask Wolves how much again.
What’s that, Big Pierre has a striker son available all summer but talking to Germans? Call him!
Now it’s a 100 million release clause player on loan.

This is worse than the Whacky Races, it’s Dodgem Cars seeing who we as a club bump into on a crazy joyride through agents and player video.

At worst it’s playing to the gallery. Take Kvistgaarden for example, the world knew he was valued at 6 by his selling club, so we offer 4.5 and leak it’s close, when they say no the club claims they tried. Bullshit, you either pay the known price or you don’t.
And if he does join, not paying that price beforehand and giving Brendan some help, now looks even worse when we could have had him bedded a month ago.
Scrambled back to an old name, who could have been settled by now.
Just like Podense.
And Tommy Doyle.

I still believe this scramble shall deliver some bodies, but the scrambling itself must not be forgotten when the board gave the impression of growing up in the transfer market, quick off the blocks and very efficient.
Surely Ange wasnt dealing with the paperwork, so why the change is the biggest question?
And which links in the chain failed, as some clearly have?

Both the club and team face big challenges this week, and so far the club have failed theirs. For an institution that many say taught them that you must win every time as this is the world famous Glasgow Celtic, there has not been a good example set from above.
Every minute without Player X training is a minute lost, and less time to explain his expected role in the team.

I suppose how we end the week shall go down in the history books, but let’s never forget how we started it also.

Now it’s all on the current squad. And there would be nothing more Celtic-like than showing up on the day, ready like a well fired roll wi’ bacon and brown sauce.
The “Twiddled Thumbs” derby, with excuses galore to be grasped, but I tell you what.
If Brendan and the players get anything out of this game then they deserve double, nay triple, the usual amount of praise.

While the transfer committee hides in an office, the true beating heart of Celtic cannot hide and will actually go out and fight in the war room, despite what the old movie says.
Best of luck, Bhoys.

The sound of sharpening pitchforks and the smell of burning torches is lingering in the air.

The “War Room” better have a panic room available- the occupants are gonna need to find refuge somewhere.

I need to find something else to do until Saturday.
Reading the same stuff is driving me mad.

AP’s assertion that this was going to be a tough window was spot on……. another reason for him upping sticks perhaps. Whatever happens Sunday is gonna be a tough watch, even from behind the sofa. As for BR and his body language and his comments, he looks like someone who is utterly p****d off with the whole situation. God knows what he’ll look like after the CL draw and if we get a real tanking on Sunday.
Work beckons. Have good day one and all. Hopefully a few signings by teatime….no I don’t think so either😠

This might be a bit extreme.
But the only way to sort this mess out once and for all.
Is for Brendan to walk tell it as is and the fans would be in uproar.
We might finally get rid of Desmond and his puppets.

Could not hearing from michael Nicholson be the reason the paperwork was not done , is he still in the building , or back to being office junior after keeping lawells seat warm . I think most of us know the reason for the transfer delays and penny pinching , must admit a feeling of pity for BR he now has two of them to contend with .

If we’re still interested in Podence, I can see Hatate going the other way,Wolves lost Neves to Saudi, and another MF has went on strike trying to force a move to Man City….

Surely der hun doesn’t have a secret fan dealing with visas . Strange that their opponents in Europe had their star striker missing as his visa was rejected and now days before a Derby we have issues too.

If BR didn’t get assurances re football division budget and replacement funds available in the event of players being sold, in the many meetings he had, then he is a mug. Would have been top of his list after Salary and personal terms.

He’s either been sold a pup or is complicit in the tawdry mess.

I wouldn’t rule out any negative scenario.
The whole episode is quite surreal.
A situation which we seem to uniquely specialise in.
From the desperate pitch to get BR in, through to the desperation of the final 3 days in the war room bunker.
We’ll be trolled soon with a remake of the classic Bruno Ganz as DM from the movie Downfall.

Our greatest threat on Sunday is the mibs. Cantwell will get them a penalty for sure but remember they are pish poor.

Cut out the crap like football from the back and use the wings, they have no creativity, like watching football from a very distant decade.

Happy Hoopy Birthday to Bobby Lennox,80 today.

A wonderful player for us,and still,I think, the third highest scorer in our club’s history. His statue is in Countess Street, next to his eponymous pub and yards from where he was born. One of the first things you see as you get off the train,it is still unblemished.

In a town as divided as Saltcoats, that is a measure of the respect the man has earned.

Their football may be pish poor, but they are adept at playing their retrograde stuff, which domestically makes them a serious threat.
I’d also add they have recruited well in at least one area of the pitch – a keeper who commands his box, though he’s not as good when the ball is passed back.

Hopefully they are fully exposed in Eindhoven to give those that care a glimmer of amusement and hope for Sunday.

After this window closes with distinct echoes of the past we need to take a realistic look at what this PLC does well and wether it truly is sustainable in the long term.
It’s success is primarily making money with football side poor in most areas.
OUr much vaunted academy has mirrored the first team in being a feeder club though profitability is minimal.
Our overall performance’s against financially equivalent teams is poor.
Our coaching no more than one level above the poor and outdated skills of SPL coaches.
Match day fare for fans generally poor by all accounts.
The support have been relied on heavily to pay for an overpriced product while being treated with utter disdain by the custodians.
PLC arrogance has seen a steady decline in the standing of our club worldwide.
This window may be a step too far but time will tell.
An uncertain future awaits

Nothing will change at Celtic unless the support are willing to do something more than booing or holding up the odd banner calling for certain board members’ removal. Money talks bullshit walks is the old adage I believe and unless Celtic fans start to flex their financial muscle to bring about change nothing will happen. Minor shareholders asking questions at an AGM are easily batted away with the much-used ‘in the company’s interest’

If you want change then be prepared to do something about it, not that most of the ST holders will.

Same as it ever was CSC

If you want change then be prepared to do something about it, not that most of the ST holders will.

Same as it ever was CSC
=====================
Whilst what follows was put to CST in 2020 to extend their reach, the ideas could equally apply to a new organisation formed to bring shareholders and ST holders under the one wing.

The Future of the CST.
Thoughts.
The following are some thoughts for CST to consider to help make Celtic more accountable to their support based on experience of pursuing Resolution 12.

Suggest CST change name from CST to the Registered Name: Celtic Supporters’ Society Limited Company Number: IP29147R so that it is clear CST is open to supporters and shareholders alike.

Give supporters without shares a reason to join more than buying shares to enable CST to speak for them . Make use of technology and harness social media to identify representational issues, seeks views and act on them after gaining consensus.

Revisit the CST Constitution to see if it needs changing to reflect what in effect would be a re branding and whatever aims , objectives and roles the rebranded organisation take on.

Expand the new organisation to cover many thousands of Celtic supporters, ST Holders, Celtic TV subscribers, etc to give them added authority when raising issues with The Board.

Give each member a membership card with a membership number.

Be prepared to use the financial investment supporters make in Celtic to challenge what is in the Company’s interest where resistance is being met by The Board with no good reason.

Make the Celtic Board more accountable and transparent as a result.

Use subscriptions to fund share purchases, set up legal cost fund (you need lawyers to argue your case with Celtic/SPFL/SFA Lawyers) and pay someone to administer /manage the expanded membership.

Reshape web site to capture emerging issues, keep track of them and keep membership up to date on issues

Invite contributions from Celtic supporters that align with organisations aims for publishing on the web site.

Allow for a much expanded AGM and look at how it might be set up, perhaps using same technology as the Open Meeting on Zoom.

Encourage volunteers with specific expertise to join sub committees to cover separate issues where particular knowledge is needed.

Set agendas and invite Celtic to attend rather than be invited to meetings in small groups and encourage two way dialogue with Celtic as a prerequisite for restoring trust.

Disabuse The Celtic Board of any notion the Celtic support are not capable of rational engagement.

Res 12 Lessons.

Much bigger support baseline needed.

Celtic use the lack of such to ignore pursuing issues.

Legal fund absolute necessary to establish shareholder rights and Director responsibilities and challenge legal reasons used to obstruct progress.

Media are under Celtic’s thumb, many journalists briefed on Res12 evidence, none followed up because it is not in their interests, so a respected presence on Social Media required to get any message out.

Make a connection between business issues being pursued and results on the park so that there is a greater understanding of the importance of having a Board that is accountable as symptoms of poor business practice manifest themselves on the field of play.

A lot of hard work involved but easier if spread over a larger organisation with a wider resource base to call on..

No disrespect to anyone, and I appreciate it’s mere speculation/paper talk however the players being linked with the club don’t inspire much confidence.

Desperately scraping the barrel is what it looks like.

Hopefully the recruitment department prove me wrong.

P67 over on the other site, thinks the transfer window is perfectly hunky dory, and that anyone wishing transfers to be made earlier, a la the Ange method, is a bedwetter.

Seems to have forgotten we have already been tossed from the League Cup, face our main rivals on Sunday, and that Al-Ittihad, who signed Jota pre-season, don’t subscribe to that theory. Just 3 examples, and I can think of many more.

I think some of the reasons we did our business early when Ange was around are these. 1. No one else was shopping in the far East Market. 2. Ange knew exactly who he wanted and had a free run at them. 3. He was in a massive rebuild so could bring in the players he needed for positions he also knew.
It didn’t all work out though as even he binned a few of his early picks. Shopping in Europe is always more difficult as obviously you don’t have many people seeing Scotland as a stepping stone to EPL. Asia and the Americas might view it differently. Lawwell and son not involved initially .

How to fix the problems at Celtic is not the question. The answers are really not that complicated. Not saying it would necessarily be easy, or quick or cheap, but the pathways are not hard to figure out.

the real obstacle is the lack of real desire for change.

as I have said for years, until someone addresses the question of why Celtic fans didn’t/dont really seem to want to change things, then the question of how to change them is pretty much pointless.
