Brendan the Babysitter

He’s been tasked with taking care of ‘our baby’, our precious Glasgow Celtic which we all love to some degree or another, and on Saturday he also found time to briefly babysit some Tims exuberant son,,,and was very successful in both instances.
It was an iconic moment,,, hey, leave that kid alone and straight under his wing he went, escorted to safety by the ultimate babysitter, so the kid couldn’t help but issue one final hoorah.
It’s gone viral of course, and alongside the arm out the window post Ibrox tells us Brendans truly arrived. How grateful I am.
The smile returned in earnest, he was absolutely delighted at Livvy, beaming those pearly whites non-stop. In his element, he looked delighted to be finally home.
Protecting fellow Tims means you’re one of us, and you genuinely subscribe to You’ll Never Walk Alone. That lad might have just been the touch paper that lit the bonfire.
The scenes were beautiful, and looking at Kyogo go bonkers and play the away supporters like his personal fiddle, I thought to myself ‘It’s September!’.
I’m used to seeing such celebration and comradeship in March, by the would be Champions savouring the build up to silverware and extra special memories.
It’s not even October, yet everyone is going nuts at the team blowing the best of the rest away, and the players have clearly already got the bug.
I looked at the team spirit on display post match plus when we score and thought, he’s binding them all together very well.
Jose for instance would allow such scenes, you’ve won nothing yet, Brendan is getting everyone to bond with the supporters and soak up the admiration, while getting the players to bond with his style of playing, which is very much moments of magic based, but crucially he’s got the team going forward quicker, less emphasis on the possession game and it’s resulting side to side football.
With exciting football comes excitement, an ecstatic support always helps. As do results.
And it was a great result indeed. No matter who is selected, the team tends to find a way.
Reo having an off day (he’s earned the occasional one but he can be inconsistent), Matt plays great.
Lagerbielke still settling,,Scales is a rock.
Red card, well we all better step it up a notch.
They did indeed.
Its already a pleasure to watch this side, I cant wait to see how they progress.

Yes,it was an excellent bit of work by BR to get the young fella back into the crowd safe and sound. Good PR too,as he knows his return isn’t universally welcomed.

“Exciting football”? Think I’ve missed that.

Winning domestic football is welcome but little sign of “ ecstatic support” where I was watching.
Daizen’s goal – the game highlight – was celebrated well but there wasn’t much ecstasy.
No one I know is “going nuts.”

Perhaps you had to be there.

Good morning, friends.
I’m on the same page as Mahe on this one. I think there was a significant change of mood on Saturday and that this season’s blue touch paper has finally been lit.
I’m already eagerly awaiting Saturday’s trip to Fir Park. And from what I saw from Sportscenes highlights Motherwell are playing really good stuff and should have had at least a draw yesterday at Ibrox.
5 more sleeps.

The change of mood I put down to winning at a difficult venue with 10 men. The team rightfully delighted.
But we are some way from playing exciting football.

Good point. Did the Motherwell manager say anything in his post-match interview? Probably not. And I don’t blame him. One word of criticism towards a Scottish referee and you are hauled up in front of the beaks.

September 25, 2023 10:23 am

Morning folks
This weekend highlighted the MIBs effect on games in my opinion. Firstly the Motherwell incident referred to here. Never a foul but if Tav falls and brings down the attacker it’s a red and a penalty at Ibrox breaking all kinds of unwritten laws . Easy out foul to huns. Connection Muir and Ibrox.
Ourselves v Livi. Numerous bad calls by all officials until game beyond Livi. Connection Beaton and Martindale.
St Mirren v Hearts where saints had 3 goals disallowed . Connection Walsh and Naismith.
Killie v Dundee where Killie should have had man sent off for high tackle but didn’t. Good old Derek who seen red for encroachment and asked tv pals to help out.
Finally Hibs v St Johnstone another instance of red not awarded . Clancy and Stephen McLean.
Gets I give you Scottish football and the golden handshake club.

When I got home last night I spent an hour on hun media. I seriously hope they don’t find out Beale’s address….

Not sure Jackshun and ArseLeckie have their sights trained on Celtic this morning

September 25, 2023 11:22 am

Interesting that Keith Jackson, who went all guns blazing on Beale after losing to PSV and Celtic, struck a more placatory note last week, almost supportive. As though he had been told to lay off, probably because the huns couldn’t afford the pay-off.

This week,he totally ignored the events at Ibrox, writing a non-piece about us instead. I wonder what could possibly have caused such a volte face?

Let’s assume that this season the huns win the lc and we win the double. That puts the trophy haul at 118 each. That’s why there were only 10k at Ibrox with 15mins to play yesterday.

From their perspective I should add

Sounds like just another Saturday for the Scottish referees. If displays like that took place in England, the refs in question would be out on their ear.

September 25, 2023 1:20 pm

Re that decision by Muir, isn’t the protocol nowadays to allow the phase of play to continue, then allow VAR to deal with it,much like with offsides?

Awe Naw
September 25, 2023 1:37 pm

Only for offsides. Otherwise refs discretion. Muir wasn’t hanging about

Hoop hoop hooray
September 25, 2023 1:40 pm

Only for offsides or to see if there is any advantage. But he blew for the foul on the defender so no need to play on. Did I say foul? I meant figment of imagination.

Can’t help thinking that something big is coming down the chute for the establishment team.

Us not spending and releasing record profits.

Hordes screaming for a new manager. Their wishes not even being fed by the SMSM. That’s a lot of sales being deliberately sacrificed.

Phil rumour mongering about being unable to pay Beale off.

The Daily Rangers blaming the Potter approach to replace Beale on an unauthorized employee

Bisgrove making announcements today about expanding Ibrox and Murray Park being the next step.

Every single Scottish newspaper associating the Ajax trouble at the weekend with a Celtic headline.

That’s a good deal of establishment coordination going on.

Why ?

It’s an increase in the normal level of paptalk loyal

BP , you do the mighty Livingston F.C. an injustice. They won the Scottish League Cup in 2004 and were the first Club to reach the Premiership from Division 3 by winning each league on their rise to the top ( a feat since emulated by a new club from the Southside of Glasgow) 😂

Did not know this ….. Harry Kane scored 3 goals and had 2 assists in BM’s weekend 7-0 demolition of Bochum making it 7 goals in his first 5 bundesliga game. This is the best start after 5 games, beating the record previously held by the great Gerd Muller.

However, although he scored 3 goals, Kane had not been credited with his first German hattrick. Kane scored his and Bayern’s first goal of the game in the 12th minute, and then his second (but Bayern’s 4th) with a 54th minute penalty, and thought he had completed his hat trick when he scored his 3rd goal of the game (and Bayern’s 7th) in the 88th minute.

However, German authorities say that he did not score a hat trick, as, according to Bundesliga rules, a hattrick is defined as 3 goals in a row, and must all be scored in one half.

Best hat trick I have ever seen? 2105, Robert Lewandoski comes on at half time with Bayern trailing Wolfsburg by a goal. In a spell of less than 9 minutes, Lewandowski scored 5 goals….the first 3 came in a 4 minute spell, making it the fast hattrick in bundesliga history …. and each one better than the last .. and number 5 is a cracker…. The best half from one of the greatest strikers ever to play the game, and probably the best half I have ever seen fromany player…worth watching the highlighs if you haven’t seen them

Superbru Update

Week 6 in the Superbru House and some of the inmates are beginning to find their forecasting feet while those at the bottom have both feet in a cast.

This week, 4 Yellow Caps were awarded for a healthy score of 12 points each to:-

Clinko, Billy Bhoy, Jobo Baldie and OneMalloy. In a high scoring week, a few pickers managed to skilfully avoid the certainties and plump for unlikely outcomes. In descending order of ineptitude, we have:- Wee BGFC, Ayrshire Tim, Hot Smoked & Melvin Udall, all with 3 points, but out on his own with Beale-like credibility, we have Friesdorfer on 1 and a half points.

Our overall table has:-

1. BC Milan- 43 pts- establishing a healthy lead
2. Leggy 40.5pts-
3. 18 yard man- 40 pts

staying just ahead of Billy Bhoy, Scaniel & Tirconnell who are prominent in the chasing pack.

As we head through the damn average and journeymen- the Prediction Passable, we enter the sphere of early back-runners- the Reduced Rump.

Leading the way up several dead ends are:-

Futile Friesdorfer- 14.5 pts
Deadloss Disco Deek- 16 pts
Weary Wee McCaff- 16.5 pts
Losing Lurkin Tim- 17.5 pts
& Wasteful Wee BGFC- also 17.5 pts

Our next opportunity to display our mastery and mystery of this game will be on Saturday 30th September when the mighty Celts kick off in Lanarkshire at 12.30 p.m. against Kettlewells Klan.

Tx for your support.
