Reasons To Be Careful

ATHINGOFBEAUTY absolutely HATES it when I predict anything before or during a Celtic game. I mean,REALLY hates it. And she isn’t shy about letting me know it either. Or anyone else within earshot or about a 200 mile radius.

It’s why I very rarely make predictions on this site. I mean, let’s face it-when was the last time I got a coupon up?

I mentioned to her on Saturday, about an hour into the match, that I might drop MAHE a mail and suggest that he do the same. Although I fell into my own trap when we scored what I thought was a late winner, only to find out it was only the starter for three. Anyway…

Congratulations to MAHE. He got it right, even if inadvertently. When Motherwell equalised,it was like a dagger through our hearts, especially coming so soon after what I thought was the winner. And just after I’d said that us dropping two points would put a spring in those hun footsteps.

It would leave us with 17 points, while the huns could, should, move up to 15. Especially with that added impetus of us dropping points. Only two points of a gap.

Instead, our late winner put us on 19 points and knocked the stuffing right out of them. Hammered at home by Barry Robson’s Aberdeen. Leaving them on 12 points, and a magnificent seven points behind.

And what is the difference between 7 and 2?

5.

As rather presciently forecast by my partner in crime on Saturday morning.

Of course, not even Mystic Meg could have forecast that, and certainly not when Motherwell scored their equaliser. But it didn’t take a genius to figure out that Beale was screwed come the final whistle. It’s one thing to be jeered at from the stands-it’s another thing entirely when the whole of your club’s social media is united against you.

The SMSM reaction was similarly unanimous. A month ago,Jackson had written a vitriolic tirade against him after successive defeats to PSV and then us. Two weeks later, having clearly been advised to rein things in some,he came out in support of his club’s manager. Flipping and flopping and fiddling while his club’s standing in the game burned,he was on a hiding to nothing. As was Beale.

I have no sympathy for this man. He undermined Van Bronkhurst by attending-coincidentally-a visit by Aberdeen to Ibrox. Sitting in the director’s box, drinking in The Louden with the fans, phoning the players to tell them what he would be doing differently. And all while Van Bronkhurst was still manager!

Scumbag behaviour,in my opinion. How fitting that less than a year later,he should be posing for a pre-match photo with The Screaming Skull, aka Alex Rae. No sympathy from me there. But this isn’t about him,not really. There’s another angle to this story that the Ibrox fans, their board, the media et al seem to have overlooked in their euphoria at having “real Rangers men” in the dug-out. Yes,they are only there as interim managers, but there is hardly likely to be a rush to succeed them. Mainly due to the self-inflicted wounds of the last year. Which manager of any stature would take such a risk with his career?

In the last year, they have fired a manager who took them to a Scottish Cup victory and a European final. Seen the boardroom turned upside down. Lost prize assets for free. Lost their director of football. And “invested” their remaining loose change in what was supposed to be the biggest rebuild in their history. Oh,and fired yet another manager, the latest bright young thing. As a result, they have a bloated squad of expensive duds on lucrative long-term contracts who will prove impossible to shift. Or even to motivate and improve.

They are light years behind their only domestic rivals, and are skint as they head into the era of tightening financial regulation, with their only hope being an implosion across the city. Not even the fabled sugar daddy can save them now. As AWENAW and AULDHEID explained yesterday.

However, before anyone thinks I’m getting carried away, let’s spin things back to the start of 2007. At the end of the previous season,Murray somehow managed to entice one of Europe’s hottest young managers to Ibrox, and Paul Le Guen was hailed as their saviour. Someone with a proven record in a superior league who was going to steamroller all in front of him. Including us. He didn’t last,as Rangers slumped to a 17 point deficit by New Year. Out with the new and in with the old, just as we are creating a wave. Walter Smith, who had hardly set the world on fire in the near decade since originally leaving Ibrox.

We laughed. But not for long. Because we knew from bitter experience even before then that we were perfectly capable of screwing up from a position of invincibility. That the footballing authorities in Scotland would do whatever they could to keep their club ahead of us. Ask Tony Mowbray about The Season of Honest Mistakes. Etc.

So,yes. I do take a great pleasure in their current meltdown. And I do know so many reasons why they are in a really shocking state with little chance of recovery in the short-to-medium term. I’ve outlined a few nearer the beginning of this article. But there is no reason-and certainly no excuse-for hubris on our part. For coasting because we think the job is done. Or,heaven forbid, for throwing them a lifeline in any form.

All that Celtic FC has to do is to concentrate on Celtic FC. With particular regard to that term in full. Celtic Football Club. To continue to improve the current personnel through excellent coaching and preparation, and by carefully considered excursions into the transfer market. If we continue to follow that mantra, there is no way that they can get anywhere near us.

But if we take our eye off the ball,or think that our work is done, then we can get closer to them. Only we can be the architects of our destruction. And the simple fact that we have proven that so often over the years is why there is no room for complacency. Not now,not ever. Not again.

Good stuff, Bobby 👍

When Fergus outlined the way forward for us and what we would need to sacrifice to achieve it, we weren’t exactly on board right away, were we?? Football fans demand instant everything …there is no tomorrow …there’s only the next trophy that has to be won.

Now, we all know that the Huns really need to do what we did, (Rip it up and start again) but to do it takes admitting you were getting it wrong in the first place …anyone see that happening? They seem completely incapable of anything other than an arrogant sense of entitlement, as evidenced by Beale’s comments about how they should never lose to a team like Aberdeen.

Peepul seem to get some sort of brain infection, the minute they walk up the marble staircase (Look at the comments from players like Cantwell) Do they get handed a list of words and phrases from peepul like Mr Bell?(RIP) it’s the only thing that explains outsiders immediately giving it the WATP pish! That attitude they have, which is severely holding them back, is not based on any real evidence, and honestly makes not a lick of sense. So, change is an absolute necessity to grow, but it’s just really difficult to see them ever getting it …good! 😉

If any Celtic manager had spoken about the opposition the way Beale did about Aberdeen, I’d have been both angry and embarrassed. The thing is though, we would NEVER speak like that, we are absolutely nothing like them! They remind me of hype-jobs in boxing – all fake confidence and bluster at the weigh-in, only to get knocked TF out 15 seconds into the first round! 😂

Nothing wrong with us being confident, (we are the biggest club in the country) but arrogance has just never been part of our make-up, and hopefully never will be. We won 5 trebles in 7 years because we have the correct attitude, and because we pay the opposition the respect they deserve. It’s going to be a very brave man who tells them what Fergus told us, eh? But it is almost impossible to imagine them acting more humble and contrite …it’s just not their nature!

No change = no progression.

Yip

They are hard wired to be conventional as that has always been their way and, in their superior mindset, the WATP way.
The virtue of Loyalty they are so proud of is what makes them susceptible to every spiv and conman that has set foot inside Ibrox.

An unbending allegiance to Crown, Union and militant imperialism has them looking inward and backwards as that is what defines them. Not a progressive quality in a country that no longer has geopolitical influence.

Their focus The Rangers is a microcosm of this deid/ dying world and their adherence to tub thumping propaganda, subservience to Establishment figureheads and a profound lack of originality and independence has them mired in a repeat cycle.

The Frankenstein club last released financial accounts in November 2022, almost a year ago.

It’ll make interesting reading whenever they eventually get around to releasing the 2023 accounts.

Sometimes I watch their podcasts,on YouTube for a laugh.

Deluded isn’t the word for it.

Yearning for a return of ‘real’ rangers players whom boot anything that moves,a blood & thunder style of football that’s been redundant for decades.

A female zombie even had to check one of the more rabid hosts, reminding the thing that’s it’s 2023.

Difficult to understand due to the vitriolic, foaming at the mouth – sounded like Duncan Ferguson was the candidate being put forward as the answer to their managerial woes. 🤣🤣🤣

Criminally, mentally insane they are.

The sooner said entity goes to the wall..the better for all humans.

Hun mindset has them incapable of embarrassment. Hence the continuity myth perpetrated by the media, society and fear of their violent followers.
There is no appetite in Scotland to deal with them as most in authority are like minded and the odd few who are not remain fearful of the repercussions.
The lack of honesty surrounding them has them acting with impunity.
They’re like the kid in the playground who is poor and takes his ball home and deludes himself into believing he was the best !
Scottish football and society would have been better off without them if justice had prevailed.
A curse on those who enabled their return for money.
The delusional behaviour will continue in whatever form they continue to exist in.

” got a coupon up?”

Or got your coupon burst by ATOB? 🙂

On the Blue Brothers if ever there was proof needed that we reap what we sow, one need look no further than Ibrox.

Ignatious Loyola would be one pointing in the direction of Govan for proof.

Gibran writes eloquently about their ongoing pain with no sign of their understanding breaking out of their shell.

Celtic as a whole just need to keep our distance at the philosophical level to be distant football rivals into the foreseeable future.

Fan,

They just seem to have zero self-awareness as a club. I’ve noticed that reality has finally landed with a very small minority of their fans, but they are so used to pandering to the mob, those fans are just wasting breath complaining about the need for a different approach and mindset. Given how serious they take this, it really must be purgatory for them …which is nice!

This definition of metanoia suggests they need to take up elements of Catholicism in order to change.

It’s going to take a miracle.

metanoia
/ˌmɛtəˈnɔɪə/
noun
change in one’s way of life resulting from penitence or spiritual conversion.
“what he demanded of people was metanoia, repentance, a complete change of heart”

Thanks for another good lead article, Bobby.
The Huns will never change. They believe 100% that loyalist protestants are innately “better” than everyone else, and that real Ranjurzz men are best of the best. This “superiority” is of course reinforced by the rule makers and enforcement officers, known as MIBs.
They hate us, and the hate gets more intense as they realise that they are destined to be the second best team in a two team league for the foreseeable future. The hate filled faces and the booing by the berrz cannot be good for morale in their squad. Oh dear.
Hell fucking mend them!!

In the chapter Alistair McKillop, a Rangers supporter, wrote about Bigotry, Football and Scotland, he was advocating fundamental change.

That was 10 years ago.

I don’t know if he is still active but the future of his club will depend on voices like his being heard above the baying crowd.

A real fixation on all things klan here.
Tomorrow we face Lazio who do not have their troubles to seek on or off field.
Sitting fifteenth, seven points from seven, they were beaten by Milan with two cut backs to the penalty spot.
Down one nil they went three at the back which I’m sure they won’t do v our 433.
But, if we go 442 and minimize mistakes, we could get something.
I hate that phrase.
They will zip it about and dominate some spells but we have to stay in the game and take our chances, however few.
Players need to play, focus, be cute when needs be and tactically aware.
Judicious subs for sure, decent ref hopefully.

I was lucky enough to meet Tom Rogic on a couple of occasions. Such a nice guy. Really came across as quite shy and unassuming but a lovely guy to talk to. I can only think of a few players over the years that I would have as a fav player. Jinky Danny henke lubo and Tom.
Always remembered of course for the memorable goals but for me even more than that was his ‘gentle’ assists. The way he just seemed to guide or help a ball on its way to a place noone else would see. Miss you big guy. 💚💚💚

An on-song Tom Rogic was a wonder to behold. The ball seemed glued to his feet, and for all that he clearly favoured his left, his right foot was lethal too.

Of all his special moments for us,surely none better than the one that clinched the invincible treble.

I wasn’t happy when he was ushered out the door last year,as I thought he was still a magnificent player. Had he refused to go,and seen out his contract,he might still be with us. But the pleasure was certainly ours, and I wish him and his family well.

Good Article Bobby, enjoyed it and agreed with it, we need to stop focusing on the DOBS now and be as good as we can be ourselves.

We have about 10 good reliable proven Pros in our squad, a couple more who were great in their day but are aging and a raft of newbies that we simply don’t know if they will make it or not,

When our injuries clear up, we should be OK but still need a good January Transfer Window,

Best of Luck to The Wizard of OZ, I will never forget that goal in Hampden, reading his Statement it was nice to see that the Arch Villains, Dermot & Pedro are not all bad,

Judge not lest you be judged.

Big Packy you could tell Frodsham Bhoy that most issues arising from not being able to send email, possibly means his IP Address has been added to a spam list, such as Spamhaus which blocks him from sending email, as unknown to him he could be sending out spam, due to a virus/trojan in his home PC, other known culprits are also VPN’s used on a firestick, he could check online if his IP Address is in a spam database.

He can find his external IP Address by visiting http://www.whatismyip.com

And check if it’s Blacklisted here https://whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check

To try and clear things up about site access.

I can access the site. I’ve had issues for ages when I use “outside” wifi connections. I get a message saying I can’t access as I’m using VPN. My Norton 360 protection thingy switches VPN on automatically when it thinks it’s needed. Sometimes when I switch VPN off the site still says I’m using it and doesn’t let me in. I can live with that.

My main problem is that last week my posts appeared on my screen then disappeared when I looked again. I mentioned this in a POTY email to Jobo last week and he said he had some problems on another site but not here.
When I tried to post a message to big packy today nothing happened. I just got a line bobbing back and forward across the top of my phone so I gave up and emailed BP.

I now see my message has appeared on the site. Go figure. Hope this gets through 🤞
