Dead rubber day

So tonight another European campaign ends the usual way, and as always I’ll try to take away some lessons.
For starters, provocation seems to be on the rise.
Twice now opposition fans have antagonized the Tims. I am a ‘fucking potato eater’ and happy with that fact, I’m also happy the Tims never resorted to ‘fucking pasta eaters’ banners which would be childish in the extreme. Palestine was our cause of choice, not others diets which is personal and pathetic in my book.
The Dutch had ‘fuck off Celtic’ graffiti awaiting the travelling Tims, which made me wonder what’s got their knickers in a twist? Great grandfather fought in both World Wars, alongside the Dutch in the second. Many good Scottish souls were involved trying to liberate Holland via Arnheim, what is their problem with us?
And it’s not just supporters either, the other team in the group resorted to goading the entire club by donning an infamous strip that was synonymous with foul play in a previous clash.
It’s a competition of footballs giants, there should be some camaraderie between clubs and supporters who are interdependent to a large degree, so is it just our club and support or is disrespect now commonplace in Continental football?
Secondly it’s not all about club expenditure. Almost every year a less resourced club ranks above a richer counterpart, this year is Copenhagen’s turn.
The playing system alongside player buy-in is much more important than how much a club spends, that’s for sure. 8 million spend Copenhagen just embarrassed many more affluent competitors. Any smaller club with ambition would be wise to study their methods and take lessons onboard. We spent 20 million in the summer is no longer something to brag about. We spent unwisely, wise recruitment is a large part of giving yourself a fighting chance in Europe. I understand buying players to progress, but sometimes just a few players for now is the much smarter play. Apparently Copenhagen agreed and it worked. My biggest interest is what they do with this income, I’ll be keeping an eye on their affairs and try to ascertain if they use it wisely to progress the club forward.
Red Cards.
3 refs in 5 games is shooting yourself in the foot. The manager must take a percentage of the blame here, after the first he should have drilled home weekly if not daily that we play it smart. A yellow gets you subbed, there’s a strong message.
Show the players videos of bookings elsewhere, let them witness what they shouldn’t do.
Reo Hatate. I failed to realize how much he makes us tick in Europe, until now. He has the knack of finding space to receive, then delivering a killer ball forward. We don’t have a replacement as this campaign shows, and as he won’t be around for years and obviously gets injured, sourcing an alternative/replacement now would be sensible.
Kyogo Furuhashi.
He claimed in the off season he was disappointed with last year’s European escapades, and stated he was determined to improve on that stage. True to his word, he did. This tells me firstly it’s a very tough stage on which to shine, and secondly he learned.
A player that’s learning and improving on the biggest stage is usually hard to keep.
After the weekends defeat a lot of online wrath pointed to Kyogos current 1 in 10 games return, Brendan is ruining him was a common cry. Ruining is a bit strong, I thought Oh was the sensible call after he had performed well and up against Killie on the plastic some physicality was the sensible option.
Kyogo hasn’t been benched, he was rotated. Horses for courses, fine by me.
There’s no denying it though, he is quality, the best since Henrik I would agree. Not to slate the impressive Ange, but he has scored more for Brendan in Europe, and after some rest a goal tonight would not surprise. Unfortunately said goal would attract more external interest. He scores tonight, he’s hot property.
To finish up, in ten years our club of choice haven’t won a home tie in the Champions League and to be honest that’s unbecoming, embarrassing, and fully kills off the ‘fortress Parkhead’ tag after charging supporters the most for the package.
It’s my humble opinion that the Champions League offers the supporters the biggest dose of our current reality, pay the most to receive the least. To me some arguments just don’t stand up, such as we can’t keep the players to progress in the competition. The manager is the most important person at the club, or at least he should be, and a good manager will have a similar replacement lined up to not upset the system. With regards to the necessary mentality I’m personally convinced that WGS took us out of the group stages via the correct mentality, for they weren’t all world beaters in that team. Where did he get that mentality? Having personally been there, seen it, and done it. Just like Martin.
Our mentality approaching European games is not correct, I believe it takes a content manager to instill that mentality, and Brendan looks far from content. He also sounds that way, just working with what they give me and calls for quality are the next best thing to a clear admission this squad won’t cut it, he doesn’t have true faith in them. Gordon choose his buys (Telfer, Naka, Big Jan, Scotty, Artur) and so did Martin.
Brendans choices helped deliver The Invicibles, Dembele and Sinclair the standouts.
Now I admit times have changed, the manager usually doesn’t have the luxury of time to scout and personally eyeball every recruit, but since the club started buying players or handing the manager a list of players to choose from we have regressed in Europe.
That’s a fact.
As far as I can tell most clubs with football men making the decisions are doing well in Europe,,,Moyes, Pep, Jurgen, Simeone, Arteta.
Outwith Europe the same philosophy holds,,,Ange, Iraola, Maresca, Mc Kenna.
All managers aiming for success with the board to support.
They get who they want.
Brendan gets what he’s given.
And that folks is one big reason why tonight’s game is a dead rubber.
Locals be careful, there’s plenty of opposition fans in town on the bevvie.
Stay in a group with your fellow ‘potato eaters’ and keep each other safe.
Up The Hoops!

Rebus67 @ 7:49 pm,

Good news on the family front, hope it continues.

Apologies if I picked you up wrong, we certainly don’t want to get into the nonsense that have been detrimental to other blogs.

However if people have agendas and are not clear, even underhand about them, that can be equally detrimental.

If you have a position be open and transparent about it and debate it courageously.

Aff oot now but hopeful of a result tonight.

Good morning friends and Happy European Matchday.
Mahe, whilst I understand that neither Celtic nor Feyenoord can change their current standing in the group (and the dead rubber suggestion) its not completely meaningless: we have a chance to finally, finally get a long awaited victory in the Champions League. Maybe this time next year we will be trying for our 5th hone victory in a row!, Overly optimistic I know, but all good runs have to start somewhere.

The usual ‘not exactly brimming with confidence ‘ feeling as yet another ‘Nul Point’ looms tonight.
I expect by kick off enthusiasm will have returned but expectation will have been left in the house
It is indeed a sad day when the best you are hoping for is not to get gubbed.
Irrespective of whose fault it is it certainly isn’t ours
However,COYBIG will be ringing out at 1945

We are more sandcastle Parkhead than fortress Parkhead. Tend to look good for the early part of the game, then get washed away.

The fact that tonight’s match has not sold out tells you everything you need to know about the mindset of the Celtic support with regards to our current standing in Europe. Scunnered. But the suits care not one iota. One of them used the words Celtic and world class in the same sentence, at the recent AGM. Those of us who pay to support, would beg to differ.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail, has never been more apt. We are world class at failing to prepare. Pot4 whipping boys like no other.

December 13, 2023 7:54 am

Maybe we could get Martin back for the Euro nights and create The Fortress again..haha
TBH would any of todays team get in the Seville team?
Still theres been some great football played by us in this years CL..better than our league form tbh.Got to learn to concentrate for the whole slip up and your punished at this level.

What you list should not be a surprise.

We are not the team we once were.
We are not the support we once were.
We are not the club we once were.

We do not have the footballing bandwidth to realise this locally.
We need others from afar to tell us about our fall from grace.

Red cards — we have painted a target on our backs and guess what EUFA are not in the mood to miss.

Action and reaction — what you sow you reap.

The GB have built themselves a platform and were not afraid to use it.
They thought they had a story to tell and the world would applaud.

Unfortunately all they did was expose their own naivety and then their own stupidity.
They have no ability to learn — they only have an ability to repeat outdated tropes / talk to themselves.
And guess what — too many in the support applauded this self indulgence because they couldn’t think for themselves.

The vast majority of people on this planet are of the same opinion as the Green Brigade,in regard to their stance against collective punishment of a civilian population.

Only issue up for debate is whether or not Celtic Park is the place for further protests.

Me personally believe that they’ve made their point, and should be allowed back into the stadium.

They don’t have to say another word, because Israel is losing that war,if it hasn’t lost already.

You will get little argument from me regarding the monumental arrogance and stupidity of the IDF / the current Israeli political and security establishment.

However the GB showed their ignorance / stupidity / naivety with their actions on the 7th Oct.
Desperate to be relevant / desperate to be seen / desperate to be first — their actions shamed us all.
They show no ability to understand the complexities / duplicities / subtleties of the current situation in Palestine.

30 year war — Oslo Peace Accord vs BN / Hamas double act — discuss.

Future progress is not aided by the slaughtering of civilians — no matter who is involved.
It is a lesson that the GB would do well to learn

Busy day yesterday.

I arrived last night in Glasgow on a flight from Dublin. The aircraft was packed with Feyenoord supporters. To be fair they seemed a decent bunch.

Like me they are travelling over for today’s game. The UEFA Champions League otherwise known as the High Altar of Capitalism.

Spend, spend, growth agenda, cuts. Spend, spend, growth agenda cuts.

All washed down with US Equity Funds and Sovereign Wealth Funds.

Let’s hope we grab a coefficient point or two. That’ll be worth a few bob.

Did Brendan appoint himself?

Who did?

What was the process?

What were the discussions about recruitment? Did Brendan agree to the completion of the signing of targets identified while Ange was the coach?

We were told in another blog that the recruitment plan would continue despite Ange’s departure due to to the fact that months of work and research had gone into the process.

This is the second appointment we’ve made of an individual who walked out on the club and was subsequently ’emptied’ elsewhere.

“Says it all when a manager reckons he can work better with Levy than with Lawwell.”

This sentence caught my eye. Can I ask what is the source of this statement?

I’ve looked and can’t find anything to confirm it.

“As for BR — tough gig / tough crowd / tough footballing environment.
He desperately needs more coaching help”

I’m glad we’re on the same page. Thanks for the support.

– You clearly missed my posts last week. You know, the ones about the lack of clarity in the accounts?

Good to see you on. Fingers crossed for the hospital. Hopefully you’ll be back again soon. You have been missed.

At some stage maybe we’ll chat about what is really known about PL. What’s supported by evidence and not just unsubstantiated waffle.

– I’m typing quickly and speaking generally.

Brendan earns £8,200 per day. He is paid to deliver.

Sadly, from what I read back nobody offered much of a structured defence.

Last season we had Starfelt and CCV, Hatate, Jota, Maeda, Kyogo scoring goals. That is the backbone of a winning team.

Why did we go ahead and purchase players that had been identified prior to Brendan’s arrival?

A coherent response would have highlighted facts like these instead of the boring Lawwell, Lawwell, Lawwell mantra.

Facts, detail numbers. Not rumour or gossip.

As far as I’m aware you are the only one to mention the F word here.

Who cares what name tabloids give anybody?

Given the sense of betrayal felt by many, with some justification, the support have displayed admiral solidarity with him.

It’s a tough business.

He can look after himself.

For a man that gave up on Celtic years ago, you sure spend an awful lot of your time greetin on Celtic sites.

I thought the Celtic support got on pretty well with the Feyenoord supporters. My boy was in Rotterdam and found them “grand.”

Thanks for the heads-up.

It’s only one indicator but Gordon Strachan was given a considerable net spend during his time as Manager.

Another factor to consider is that period was pre- the death of Rangers. There was still (unhealthy) competition at home.

I’ve talked about Copenhagen before. A better domestic league perhaps? They operate in a similar way but put an emphasis on experience. Their parent company a crowd called Parken, looked to be in a measure of difficulty. Recently they moved the Copenhagen ground out of ownership of the company. Into a different corporate structure.

The other point is youth development. That’s why the owner of Brentford until recently owned Brondby.

There’s a great deal to be written about that in a Scottish context.

That’s also why we have been trying to buy young first team players from these markets.

This is what Chris Davies had to say about Celtic’s performances in Europe.

“We were often playing against the best – Manchester City (below), Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG – and we had some memorable nights in Europe.

I do think it’s difficult to be so dominant on a weekly basis in the league, often having 70 per cent of the ball, and then adapt to play such different games in Europe. It’s like a different sport. Moving in a block, and constantly running to cut off passing lines and keep your shape against the best teams in the world. It’s just so different to the way Celtic are used to playing on a weekly basis, where they are the protagonist. It was the two ends of the footballing spectrum, and it was challenging to adapt to that. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make any real progress in Europe as a result.”

If you want to have a chat online, the only time you’ll find me is in the morning Irish time.

Put together a plan of how you’d like to see Celtic managed. Your commitment to the club through the blog is beyond doubt.

I know it’s been mentioned before that you pay for the maintenance of the blog out of your own pocket and you can’t receive financial help due to the IRS.

Is there a Belfast based charity possibly that followers of the Blog might be able to donate a small amount of money to?

Maybe we’ll talk to you about when we catch up?

Have a great day everyone.

Till later.

The GB were ahead of the curve of public opinion in expressing support for the Palestinians.

For that they are to be commended.

The centrist dad tendency of which you are a member have nothing worthwhile to offer on the subject other than disingenuous, hackneyed, hand wringing platitudes. You probably realise how irrelevant you have become, hence your bitterness.

Since our club is a long term user of NDAs,I think that you are highly unlikely to find official confirmation of this. In the absence of which,I’ll happily resort to my own perceptions. Such as 2+2=4 or,if it walks like a duck, etc.

Your soft spot for the GB and their youthful naivety / stupidity grows by the day.
Nothing centrist about by views — I just want a solution not more slaughter.

On the 7th of October Hamas butchered their way out of being part of any solution in Palestine.
The Anders Breivick look is not the way forward for any political entity no matter their history.

From the 7th of October onwards the IDF are butchering their way towards rehabilitating Hamas.
You have to wonder if this is their plan or they are too stupid / bent on vengeance to notics.

All very Old Testament — we moved on from that for a reason.

Gaza today — games are getting played by a number of parties.
Civilians sacrificed to deliver a number of military agendas.

Chapter in a book that nobody thought could be written.
Quite a few had seen the synopsis but thought it was all too fanciful for delivery.
Until the 7th October when part of it happened for real.

While most people are counting the casualties and wincing.
Some are counting the bombs and planning ahead.

Amateurs talk strategy / professionals talk logistics.
Tank shell by tank shell.

Chris Davies on Euro competition- “It’s like a different sport.”
Dismissive but honest – football in this country bears no relation to what is being played at a tertiary level ( ECL ) and above in Europe.

Lumpen, brutish and lacking in any sort of sophistication.

The list of managerial appointments outside the top 2 is hackneyed and a jobs for the boys merry go round. Levein, Martindale, Naismith, McInnes etc- a who’s who of complete mediocrity and appointment by contorted handshake.
Some signs of hope at Hibs with Montgomery, perhaps.

What real chance has it got?
On the road to perdition.

With interest waning – Dec 30th and three other fixtures apart.
That’s it. The sum total of Scottish football. Everything else is padding to extract coin from diehards pockets.
For how much longer?

We would be better off playing the Huns four times a year for the Title and touring the World like the Harlem Globetrotters the rest of the time playing decent opponents.

No he’s back in Dublin. His next trip over is the Sevco game.

I think it was MIT who asked a couple of weeks ago something along the lines of, ” What would Tommy Burns of made of the 5WA?” Or something like the board or state of the club?

I’ve no idea what Tommy would of said and won’t offer an opinion.

It’s funny, nobody ever seems to say much in public. Even the older players/staff, from well before the days of the PLC.

I’ve wracked my brains to think of anyone who has said anything of consequence about the Old Firm or 5WA, Dermot, Pedro?

Maybe a focal point is what’s missing.

– What I’m trying to do here is chip away at gossip and focus on things like the Accounts.

Things that can be more readily qualified.

– Nothing personal.

Focus on the accounts — well we have £72mill in the bank if we use that document.
Plus we have gaps in the squad that can be seen from space.
Might they in some way be related?

Any focus on the accounts will not be good news for our low energy exec level / lazy Irish Raj.
Any business that generates cash but doesn’t know what to do with it usually gets a refocus from outside.

I agree with you that the accounts provide a sounder base for making assessments than statements reported by the media.

In that respect can you look at this statement in the Daily Record about spend on players wages

And then delve into the latest published accounts of both clubs to see what they tell us.

The problem I had when trying to do that, apart from having no accountancy back ground is there is no straight comparison which might mean a bit more digging.

As regards PL I would love to hear his side of the story and why the decisions he took were seen by the Board to be in Celtic’s interest.

It is his general untrustworthiness as a result of acting in the company’s best interest that permeates everything coming from Celtic and it would be good to hear his position so that folk would be able to ask themselves the moccasin question ie in his shoes what would I have done? For example what support for pursuing Rangers re use of ebts did he get from Infantino at UEFA in May 2012?

Why he is untrustworthy based on my experience is set out at

But on the basis everyone gets it wrong by convincing themselves that what they are doing at the time is the right thing to do (me included of course) it would be enlightening if PL could share his thinking at the time but in a non judgemental environment of truth in the hope of reconciliation.

I enjoyed that Mahe, but I’m afraid the “Fortress Parkhead” era is long gone and there’s no chance of it coming back – ever. UEFA have seen to that with their constant tinkering of the CL

I’m getting fed up with the constant “ten years since a win” being bleated out by the SMSM. Firstly, its 11 games over 4 campaigns. Secondly, we drew 3 and had next to no chance in 6 of them.
Barcelona 0-2
Man City 3-3
B M’gladbach 0-2
PSG 0-5
B Munich 1-2
Anderlecht 0-1
Real Madrid 0-3
Leipzig 0-2
Shakhtar D 1-1
Lazio 1-2
Atletico M 2-2

Two of the draws should have been wins and it was very frustrating losing to Anderlecht after winning 3-0 away from home. There’s no doubt though that the statistic is a monkey on our back now and we desperately need to get rid of it. Tonight should be an excellent chance but with our Jeckyl & Hyde form – who knows?

We could of course have done much better this season. Feyenoord were the weakest pot 1 team and have played to that billing, winning only 2 home games and finishing 3rd. They were pretty fortunate to beat us too!
I reckon we could easily have had 7 points but for two late collapses at home.

I’m heading into Glasgow in an hour for some pre-match food and beers. Looking forward to 3-0 win which would mean we’ve won the head to head v the pot 1 team!

Just Sayin’
December 13, 2023 2:11 pm

And there’s a problem straight away – good teams don’t have late collapses at home.
They have physicality and mental fortitude to deal with the competitive pressure.
And a structure for closing out games.
That’s on the coaches and squad preparation.

We are simply not equipped for the task in hand.
Inadequate would be one description.
BR the man at the helm on 8 of those occasions, presiding over a makeweight pot 4 team, with a dwindling coefficient that will be lucky to make Europa League pot 3 next season, if we gift this league.

There’s really not much difference between the Dec 22 and Dec 23 SPFL tables. We have drawn 3 more we lost to the Buddies last year. The huns have actually lost more this year so far than last year which saw GVB given the boot. It demonstrates how dropped points from games drawn produces palpitations within the Old Firm support more than the occasional loss.

It was our first loss this season domestically. It was on the plastic pitch. It was in an environment not conducive to slick football and just like last season against St. Mirren we couldn’t handle the oppositions high press. We couldn’t even use the plastic pitch or weather as an excuse then but we could use CL participation. The one common factor and glaring for me was both losses came about with Carter Vickers being injured.

You all know how highly I rate him. I have already stated he is the only player on the books I wouldn’t sell even if the price was right. Let’s not forget he only played last season from December until the league was clinched due to taking pain killing injections. So the decision also to sell his experienced partner Starfeldt has been the main reason for the extra three draws this season. CCV is that important to us defensively and in going forward.

Losing another experienced campaigner in Mooy along with last seasons best player in my opinion Jota. None of whom have been adequately replaced. Nowhere near. Hasn’t helped.

Also Abada was regularly contributing to goals and assists for Kyogo at this stage last season has been missed.

Losing Hatate and Maedea long term this season through injury hasn’t helped either .

We are paying the price for the last couple of seasons high octane Ange approach. As he is finding out at Spurs. You need 24 first team ready players. That is 24 players all on top wages. Not 12 with 12 lesser development players.

The problem there is if those 12 players get injured then ….excuse my French ..your fucked. Exactly as Ange’s Spurs has demonstrated dropping 6 positions in 4 weeks.

That’s what we have been contending with so far this entire season and on the whole coping with it quite well when you consider the injury list and the summer recruitment and the upheaval.

Scales has adequately covered for Starfeldt. Nobody has adequately covered for Jota, Mooy, Gio. Nobody has made us forget that Abada, Maeda, Hatate, Vickers are missing from the team except it would be churlish not to recognize Matt O’Riley’s improvement.

So we have nowhere near enough at CL level and I don’t expect any more than a draw tonight especially as there’s nothing to play for.

I do expect us to kick on domestically. I think our summer recruitment was slightly better than the huns. I expect an EPL 6 month loan signing in January only. I hope to see some sign of improvement with the recent recruits. Holm and Palma especially. We will miss the Asian players and the penalty to Rangers syndrome will keep it closer than last year. Bernardo possibly too but not enough for us to spend 5m on him unless the asking price drops considerably.

Huns will lose players due to offloading and injury and will still be in Europe and still have a cup final to win.

That will keep us one step ahead of the huns

Same as it ever was.

I expect a draw in Europe for both Glasgow teams this week.

Zero ambition in Europe since Seville, guess what else happened in 2003? Panic loan signings by Lawwell and Park,2 days before multiple Qualifiers, our most lucrative games of every season, 21 years on where are we? And before we get the ‘entitled ‘ bollox, the team with the best players and most money, usually wins the league. Ange was the only guy who spoke of ambition in the transfer market, to get guys 8n for next season’s CL.Him and Dominic McKay far too forward thinking for the CJ types from Reggie Perrin, who sit on our board ,and get re-elected unopposed but enjoy grace and favour benefits, without putting a single penny in to the Club. Rinse and repeat, with only a couple of exceptions in 21 years, pumped by Molde,Mitjyland and other European giants on the way.So let’s support a guy who lied to Shareholders, and took around £17 million, out of a business our size.So Lawwell is back pulling the strings, and Boy Wonder has unearthed the likes of Kwon and Phillips. Constantly going round in circles, and barely ahead of a skint huns team,72 million in the bank, plus this season’s 35 million. But the mantra is just spend an extra pound to stay ahead of the huns,if we do spunk this League, we’re gonna need a bigger car park

A thing of beauty
December 13, 2023 4:23 pm

Awe naw 350pm,
Far too much blame being out on BR for the position we find ourselves in. Never forget he repeatedly asked for power and got nothing of the sort. That means he is trying to move players around to suit his system. All this talk of how he should just play Ange’s system neglects the fact that it is impossible to play that high octane football for more than 2 seasons. Bielsa’s Leeds and AP’s Yokohama and Brisbane seem to Bear that out. I don’t think it’s BR’s fault that Taylor, McGregor, Kyogo have gone backward and Maeda, Hatate and Abada have long term injuries. The players are burst. All the more reason to get BR his players and take advantage of the break the Asian cup provides.
Also, can I remind people that we were quite poor from February to may last season and from July to November in Ange’s first season. I loved his football but I’m sensible enough to know it was unsustainable and have a good enough memory to remember a good few shit games and results.
Correct about the board. They are only there to ensure we never fulfill our potential.

The EPL invitation possiblity was reduced to zero in 2003. Since then we have been awaiting on the European football industry to align itself with Dermot Desmond’s business practices. So it’s back to talking about families again but instead of the Whites and Kelly’s it’s the Desmond’s and Lawwell’s with a wee bit of the Strachan’s thrown in.

I would go as far to say that we were poor after the World Cup break until May last season

December 13, 2023 4:44 pm

We weren’t playing that well last season. We thankfully just shaded it in all the Old Firm games by baw hair territory. If I was CCV I’d be more thankful about having a boss that cares more about my personal welfare than his own. Maeda also unimpressed by Ange as last seasons red card attestifies too.

The outcome of LC final will also be highly influential this season. Mibbery to win the day.

We as a support should be demanding a Director of Football as our next appointment.

There’s a good reason why we need one. Why Brendan wants one but especially why we don’t have one.

That’s where our focus should be first and foremost before even a left full back , goalkeeper and another proven goal scorer.

Your post is the most balanced comment on events over last 20months that I’ve read in quite a while.

Now if I were being naughty and reckoning that Rebus67 recognises what follows is not a change on my position re ” labling”, can I suggest that you have introduced a new category of High Wire Tightrope Walker Without Safety Net. HWTWWSN

or in MM abbreviation territory

TWs as in

Tightrope Wankers. 🙂

Things are heating up on the blog as kick off tonight approaches. Cool heads are needed on the park tonight but none of us are playing so we can rage, speculate etc to our heart’s content and that’s what we are doing.
If we get in front tonight I’d like to see us double concentration for the next 5-10 mins and not LOSE a goal for a change👍
Btw, Celtic 9-5 and the Dutch 11-10, so, does opportunity knock or ‘in your dreams’ time!

CaltonTongues – as long as they’re behaving and no trouble. My own nephew is over from Holland for the game and is sitting in my seat tonight! I’m a few rows behind to keep a wee eye on him. So there’s another reason I want Celtic to win tonight – don’t want him to be jumping up and cheering too much!

I welcome being labelled anything. It means I’m winning the argument. As my old man used to advise it means they are leaving some poor bastard that can defend themselves in peace.

Jobo Baldie,

Most CL games the opposition Ultras get escorted up London Road, never any bother. Tonight was loud though so, I expect they will be, let’s say, exuberant at the game.

Others will still be drinking in pubs en route. As I’m on holiday this week, heading to pub shortly 🍺

Hope your nephew enjoys just the experience 😁

COSY CORNER BHOY with all due respect, if we beat feyonoord 7-1 what does that get us in the great scheme of things, we are out of europe so feyonoord might play there B team and still beat us,another true story.LOL 😂

CL group stage win is 2.8m€ prize money ( A years domestic TV money ) or is it more now?
A draw 900k€
I think you also get prize money per goal scored.

Nothing for losses , goals conceded. Pity
