Stayin’ Alive

I’m not going to mention it’s a big game, but I will mentions kudos to Docherty for turning Dundee into a top six side, even if they do follow players to the toilet, but he’s done it on that surface also. He should be in with a shout for manager of the year. It’s strange to be nervous about a trip to Dundee, a great testament to the job he’s done. They are on a high, and should honestly aim for the 4th spot, but I like to think we shall put a dent in those ambitions come Sunday. They recently drew with our neighbours, so bettering them at this stage of the season also sends out a message. Battering them would be the equivalent of firing up the Bat Signal, while also showing serious intent, ie coming alive.

When considering the line-up for Sunday’s clash, I was mindful of the midweek comments that Nawrocki can’t get or stay fit, and Palma isn’t what he gaffer wants in a player. Scales stays in then. Yang probably gets the nod out left again, because I wouldn’t want Kuhn pushed out there and James starting on the right, because of that pitch. I would worry about James getting the nod, just don’t want him injured and as Brendan alluded in his presser he’s a great impact sub. I hope the starters win the game and he’s not needed on that surface (or lack of it) at all. I dare say this could be Yang’s last chance to impress, as Daizen will return and we can’t enter Europe with such a dearth of talent in that area.

The lad has technique and skills and on a poor pitch I tend to lean towards the old adage of selecting players that have better control over the ball.

That’s why I would start Bernardo instead of Iwata. We need to win every game rather than not get beaten, he hasn’t cemented himself as first choice but rather been quietly efficient or handy enough, but I’d also like Paolo to get some gametime under the belt before the derby. He ran the show against them at home earlier in the season, so getting him matchfit and asking him to produce the same again shouldn’t be a major issue, if he’s been playing and performing. Yep, I’d start him Sunday.

Matt, Reo, Bernardo, with Callum given a cameo alongside Iwata to keep him fresh, if the job is done by the starting eleven. If not keep those attacking midfielders on the pitch, no need for a defensive midfielder.

Brendan once again exuded calm confidence, and expressed his desire to keep the players calm, he even cracked a joke at the expense of the kit-man. That’s the kind of leader I would like in my camp during testing times. Keegan was one hell of a player, but I shall always maintain his too emotionally involved demeanor cost the Geordies that ‘love it, just love it’ title. That’s not our Brendan, and once again there’s no one I would rather have in the hotseat at this stage. Cool, calm, and collected, just like Wim all those years ago in his one and only title hunt with the Hoops.

There’s certainly reasons for some positivity. Winning a semi final through penalties with Joe redeeming himself, Reo back with a bang, Matt wishing to go out on a high if only for appearances sake, Daizen’s imminent return, Idah is the man, Kyogo is having a better second half of the season just like AJ, James looks like a man on a mission which means silverware, Kuhn has talent, and of course the Captain wants to be a Celtic legend.

And of course our strike rate. 19 goals in our last 6 games tells me we know how to hit the back of the net. At better than three a game, no wonder Brendan said we are coming alive. Well, please become the BeeGees FC this weekend and be Stayin’ Alive.

Up The Hoops!

Bobby, I would say that Yang has had more than enough chances to show what he can do , but he’s not up to the level required yet. So it would be Palma for me.
I would also start with Idah up front in place of Kyogo

Just watching a Sumo ref insight, and the refs at the very top of the game, carry a letter of resignation incase they make a mistake.

Written out with only the date and bout left blank.

In scottish football, I’m told the refs have the very same integrity. So shut up.😂😂😂

I see big Phil eventually found the big Ibrox book of excuses.

If games only lasted 80mins.
If the league was in mini league format.
If we just took results from October.
If my granny had dangly bits.

All comes from the pressure of playing for the worst fans on planet football.

Belgian waffle 😂😂

Awe Naw, Thanks for posting that roll of dishonour. It tells me my memory is not what it should be.
Was Johansson the Finn who coached their youth team? And who was McCallum? Can’t remember him at all, or either of them managing the first team.

Juventus vs Milan. ( 3rd vs 2nd in Serie A )

Bayer vs Stuttgart. ( 1st vs 3rd in Bundesliga )

Atletico Madrid vs Athletic Club Bilbao ( 4th vs 5th in La Liga )
This should be a doozy. Bilbao are 3 points behind, but with a better goal difference, and the last Champions League place is on the line.

Never seems like a good idea to tell the players you’re leaving, then ask them still to run through walls for you.

If he had to do things again, I wonder if Klopp would want it known he was leaving.

He’s not the first manager to make that mistake.

Seems like a daft thing to do.

Or maybe he had no say in the matter.
