And the tone was set,,

Ready for some fun?
He told untrusting supporters he would see them in May, it’s here and he’s in the building.
He told Sky we would write our own story, we are indeed and what a tale he is scripting.
He told us we would come alive, didn’t we just!
He said Jamesy was the best winger at the club, said best winger was introduced and just about rescued our season.
So when he says the derby will be fun, why not take him at his word?

I’m reminded of the old song, you went and saved the best for last. It was perfect. The stadium drowning in colour and cheers, the performances of every player, the form I had stopped asking for suddenly appeared, and when we play like that no one in the land will halt us.
The corner was turned, in a very high stakes game Brendan’s Celtic clicked and sparkled, and the timing couldn’t be better.

The backing was superb from the get go, and said backing helped propel the team to new heights, which sent the support into a euphoric frenzy culminating in a full arena Huddle in the stands. Even the twelfth man showed up, I wouldn’t be surprised if nominated in the POTY completion on Saturday. It was an all around fantastic experience which reminded everyone involved of the highs that supporting Celtic can bring, of the joy playing football in the Celtic way offers.
It was extra special because of the players themselves, the opposition, and because it’s been too sparse this campaign.

The Captain lead by example, his leggyness gone, that chaseback and ball winning tackle was a sight for sore eyes.
Reo found his passing range, Matt looked motivated,,on their day they can dominate games, on Saturday they did exactly that. The middle of the park willl be fine for this run-in.
Another clean sheet, the nation’s top scorer shut-out, great saves from Joe, Liam settled long term, Taylor looked in fine fettle,, these cannot fail to provide a boost at the back ahead of the seasons defining clash.
Up front the wee man had his best game in a long time, Maeda saw minutes, James lasted another start so he’s matchfit, Kuhn got a proper taste of a big occasion which cannot hurt, Idah got more playing time to help keep him sharp.
Up front did their job and Kyogo, tormenter of the blues, is back to enjoying himself on the park again.
Right on time.

The tone was set alright, the message sent loud and clear that we are the team to beat. That our home atmosphere can and shall boost the players for the big occasion, that we keep cleans and don’t miss penalties anymore,,,that we are ready, together, and will be in it to win it next weekend.

I sit here typing with a sense of relief, a lot of pride, and with a large degree of excitement. This shitshow of a season always stood the chance of delivering a happy ending. Hard work and dedication has moved us forwards from trouble to double.

Speaking of trouble, Brendan’s words alongside an emphatic display clearly riled some up, and true colours were shown. Clement is furious at the verbal bravado from the Ulsterman while two prominent Tim podcasters had their details leaked online. Naismith showed his true nature by leaving his Asian players to find their own way home for the crime of speaking to Celtics Asian contingent. You can’t buy class, told you he was a knobhead.

Whilst the Celtic family rejoiced and couldn’t get the smile from their face, others snarled and started showing signs of buckling under pressure, the big week that will surely decide the title destination hadn’t even begun.
We set the tone on the park, and off it.
Time for a week of mindgames, ramping up that pressure, and then some fun.

*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2023-24*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #46 CELTIC 3 HEARTS 0 (KYOGO(2), O’RILEY)*

Good evening, friends.
A really important statement victory yesterday saw us maintain our 3 point / 5 goal lead at the top. There seemed to be a real positive vibe going into the game and, for once, I switched tack and agreed with those I spoke to that the result was far more important than the performance. Clearly. I picked the wrong game to switch my usual mantra as we proceeded to turn in our best performance of the season.
After weathering some early pressure from Hearts we managed to get an early breakthrough to get the party started. A lovely, curled chip from Hatate and a fine header from Kyogo gave us a 1 nil lead and the confidence that comes with it. And when Matt O’Riley’s 50 yard pass dropped over Kyogo’s shoulder to be struck beautifully into the net the confidence really began to flow through the team. Lots of good further exchanges and some very good spells of just keeping care of the ball meant that we had a very well deserved 2-0 lead at the break.
Hearts again showed some early promise at the start of the 2nd half but it was from a Celtic corner that brought my most memorable moment from the game. Hearts broke away with the ball down their right hand side but were chased down by Captain Calum who broke up the move with 2 defining tackles that brought the whole stadium, yes even the Main Stand, to it’s feet. It wasn’t a turning point as such, given we were already 2 goals up, but for me it simply translated as ‘the captain’s back and we are winning this title!’
With only 3 or 4 minutes remaining I was one of only 3 people in the ground (the guy next to me was 1 of the others) who somehow missed Shankland’s clear hand ball. Fortunately the VAR pointed this out to the other blind man present, Clancy (quite possibly the poorest referee in Scotland) and the penalty was awarded. Matt O’Riley made no mistake and we ran out 3-0 winners. We do appear to be in a good place and The Double is certainly a possibility.
We have now played 46 competitive games. We have managed 31 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats, scoring 104 goals and conceding 47. We have 3 league games left, 2 of them at home. We remain 3 points and 5 goals ahead of our nearest rivals. Match our closest rivals results and that will be enough to secure our 54th league title. Win our next game and we then only need 1 point from the remaining 2 fixtures.
My thanks to the 74 who voted this week, just 1 less than last. Perhaps a hoe win next week might see the numbers go even higher. The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.

Hart: 28
Johnston: 2
Carter-Vickers: 9
Scales: 2
Taylor: 3
McGregor*: 43
Hatate: 4
O’Riley: 41
Kuhn: 0
Kyogo*: 72
Forrest*: 21
Iwata: 0
Idah: 0
Maeda: 0
Palma: 0
Bernardo: 0

And so, the players receiving POINTS for the game against Hearts are –
Kyogo – 5 points
McGregor – 4 points
O’Riley – 3 points
Hart – 2 points
Forrest – 1 point

The overall positions after 46 games played are as follows –
91 points – O’Riley
86 points – Scales
62 points – Carter-Vickers
61 points – McGregor
42 points – Hart and Johnston, A.
39 points – Kyogo
28 points – Maeda and Palma
25 points – Yang
22 points – Bernardo
20 points – Oh
19 points – Kuhn
18 points – Taylor
16 points – Forrest, Idah and Iwata
15 points – Hatate
10 points – Ralston
9 points – Johnston M, Nawrocki and Turnbull
6 points – Lagerbielke
4 points – Bain, Bernabei and Holm
3 points – Welsh
2 points – Abada
0 points – Frame, Haksabanovic, Kelly, Phillips, Starfelt, Tilio and Vata

Our next game is a 12.30pm kick off next Saturday against Triggers Broom FC. Apparently, it is going to be fun!
Hail Hail!

The cheating has become so bad, the bias so open and in your face, that I’m still not confident they (The cheating bastard officials) won’t go all out next week, that they WILL find a way to still cheat us out this championship! As you all saw again yesterday, one flash of the right coloured card and the game is lost in an instant.

Hearts player gets no card (While already on a yellow) for deliberately punching the ball …
Kilmarnock player gets a straight red, which immediately hands the game to Sevco.
This is how easy it is for them to still influence the outcome of this season!!

If we somehow find ourselves 3 up against them at Parkhead, I may then allow myself to relax a bit …until then ..😠😠

Hoop hoop hooray
May 6, 2024 7:26 am

BAD
If you stop the ball going into the net with your hand it’s a penalty and red card. Thats the rules. The only exception to this is if you are a St Johnstone player playing celtic in which case its play on.

Deliberate hand ball is a yellow card. Sometimes even if it’s not deliberate like iwata in last game against hearts. The only exception to this is if you are a hearts player playing celtic and you are already on a yellow.

A high kick that connects with a head is dangerous play as we have seen umpteen times unless you are a celtic player whose boot is headed by a hearts player in which case its a red card.

As an aside and something I have not seen mentioned anywhere. At several of our corners clancy positioned himself directly between the corner flag and our player on edge of box completely cutting off that route for a pass.

The first 15 minutes of the tribute acts game against killie had more var stoppages than actual playing time. Holy guacamole, how hard were they looking for something, anything.

Which brings us this weekends ref.
Robertson walsh and beaton have had a derby. The only other 3 with experience of the game are collum clancy and mclean. We won’t get clancy 2 weeks running. Collum doesnt ref their games anymore. So that leaves mclean. Walsh will get the cup final.
And Dallas and aitken will get the VAR jobs.

Brilliant from the team at the weekend. But desperate officials can do desperate things. Blow them away bhoys

Triple H, thanks.

I expect the cheating in our next game to be like nothing that has gone before.
They really need the points against us.
I fully expect us to end the game with less than 11 on the park – Or them getting multiple pens.
I fear we will see a repeat of Dallas 99 (Only more blatant), with every effort made to rile the players and the fans.
Then the game will become about OUR actions, rather than the actions of the officials.
This will be their best chance to wipe out our point advantage.
Also – I’m fully aware of the tactics by refs in our games.
I’ve lost count the number of times one of our players has to turn away from a simple pass because the ref is standing 3 yards away between the players.
It’s like any truth – once you see it, you can no longer kid yourself about what you are seeing.
I have become so angry watching these games now, that I will most probably go for a very long walk in the hills while next week’s game is being played!
Cheating so bad you can no longer actually watch,eh? What a great wee country this is!!

SteveNaive
May 6, 2024 8:42 am

HHH,

All correct as you say but it’s our game coming, not theirs.
No reason why Collum couldn’t ref it.
Our energy, commitment, drive and just good football overcame Clancy’s incompetence ( going to the screen to check the penalty when the players and everyone watching knew it was ) so hopefully the same again.
We can be a cynical lot on here sometimes but if you get the chance try to watch the Kano kids come up the stairs into the stadium.
Their awe and excitement and the look on their faces.
My daughter’s school were there ( three schools in total )and she almost wished it wasn’t a holiday today to use that amazing experience in the class straight away.
Some weans bouncing, some singing and some just stunned into silence.
A humbling sight indeed.
They got a great view of Kyogo at his best.
More power to the Kano lads and lasses.

Good morning, friends.
5 more sleeps until we have the opportunity to effectively win the league. A win puts us 6 clear with 2 to go but the goal difference advantage isn’t quite at the level that would mean we could confidently celebrate winning the title. Although beating them 3 or 4 nil might change that!
I’m very confident we will be league champions. As are bet365 who have Celtic at 1/5 and R2ngers at 7/2 to win the league.

Bhoyfromsky
May 6, 2024 8:47 am

There are three games where we have to drop 3 points for them to be champions. on Saturday the MIBs will go all out to assist them….If they are still 3 points behind after Saturday Alan Muir will be their only chance at Kilmarnock…and how we will need to watch HIM….I really hope this does not go to a last match Helicopter Sunday…..as Naismith will simply ask how many goals do you need Phil
Play like we played last Saturday and all the above becomes Irrelevant

Agreed, the blatant cheating by officials is off the scale and does make games a very frustrating watch. I often just have the sound off completely with the match on screen and some nice music in the background until the result is secured.

This week will be ramped up to the nines by the pro Rangers media in Scotland, so, Hun hubris will be plentiful. BR will just watch them and smile. He knows how to beat them. But it will be a long week ahead. Time to tune out.

I’m in Lisbon on Saturday, so will probably be playing catch up anyway, thankfully.

On that matter , any advice, must do’s/ sees and Nacional stadia info appreciated folks.

Just in time for the stadium before the refurb. Catch a train from centre of lisbon and then its a 10 minute walk. If main gates aren’t open carry on past the stadium and there’s an entrance in past a house which I think is the gatekeepers place.

Worth a trip on the trams up to the castle. Some of oldest trams in the world but only ones that can make the hills. Stunning views from the castle and if you are up for a bit of fun take a hair raising tuktuk taxi back into the town.

The city square leads on to the beach and great for a refreshment and sone people watching.

If you like your custard tarts get a train out to Belem where the original factory is still in full production. The adjoining patisserie will put 4 stone on you.

The Huns will be absolutely bricking it coming to Celtic Park on Saturday.
The reception their team bus arriving will get will be enough for most of them to crawl into their shells. A back four of nervous Tavpen, an untried central defence of Soutar and useless, never used Davies and whoever is thrown in at left back will be under huge pressure from the off from our reinvigorated front guys.
With Maeda back to terrorise, what’s not to gleefully anticipate?

The mood in our camp will be professional and focussed as it has been since our February/ early March drop in form. BR has the machine finely tuned. No room for negativity, he said himself preparation is 20% physical the rest psychological this week.
I assume the players steer clear of blogs like this, they don’t need the fearful cloud many on here live under.
We are better than them, thankfully BR knows it and the players do too.

This league is there to be won … effectively on Saturday.

Bring it on.

Plenty to keep you occupied in lisbon.plenty of beautiful plazas with great statues and architecture. Tram 28 to see the best of the centre and as hx3 says the tuk tuk for a bit of fun.I got taxi to stadium 10 euro and getting access is no problem see security guards they’re very accommodating.
If you are religious there is the church of St.Anthony built on the place of his birth. Also if you have the time you can get a coach to fatima (1hr 30 mins).

I try to accentuate the positives but accept the reality of circumstances too. There are times when negative thoughts/ emotions take over – particularly during game time!

It has been a difficult season and I’d have to be unconscious not to notice the cheating which is plumbing new depths. So that is a real issue. Winning this league, and a possible double, under this pressure will be a fantastic achievement

That’s why going into Saturday’s game, like those before, with a positive mindset is important to me. And is obviously the approach BR takes, as his recent pressers suggest.

We are in good hands and knowing we are as well prepared as we can be helps rationalise what is needed.

Said all season they are shite and no better than under Beale, the only difference is the level of assistance which is off the radar.

For them to get anything on Saturday they need someone sent off early, preferably a Tavpen too. Apart from the Hibs game our penalties are unimportant in regards to the game. Their ones are , like Sunday, the opposite. A lot of their penalties are early and have said impact, so watch out for the first 20 minutes 👀

Saturday — good performance / great result.
MF turning up made all the difference — hopefully more to come.
Can’t wait for the season to be over and we can set out our plans for the future.

The SPL has disappeared down a rabbit hole with all the institutionalised Govan FC luv.
Those that the gods want to destroy — they first make them mad.
Ludge VAR / Ludge MIB have lost the plot.

More and more info to highlight their pro Govanite agenda.
Not even hiding it any more just laying it on thick.

Hopefully we put in the effort to show the world their rampant bias.
Next one up should be minutes added — how many and when.
It will stand out like a sore thumb.
All in the SPL records.

The penalty analysis is particularly damming — it is not the numbers it is the when.
We get them when we are cruising / they get them when they are desperate.

Anyway good performance and a great result.
Hopefully this will be the way we end the season.

I tend to agree with JS that there is a lot of negativity around the blog. Having been in the teaching game, it is a well known fact that pointing out what is wrong is much easier than praising what is correct. 😀

Like others, I suffer from this malady. Can you sense a “however” coming?

I shall not name individual players but are you like me when the opposition targets certain areas of the park? Nervous every time a ball is played into those areas? I cannot decide if it is my natural nervousness, or is it a justified concern based on a player’s shortcomings. what I am convinced of is that everyone is giving 150% and should we expect more at this stage of the season?

Events down south and in the club of Jimmy Greaves fills me with mixed emotions. I like Ange but I cannot help feeling disappointed that he moved on after just two seasons. Is it coming to pass that a) his team is running out of gas, and b) the opposition have sussed how to play him? I suspect that this is what you get, ultimately, when you buy Ange.

Staying south of the border, does anyone else think that WHU’s treatment of Moyes is classless? Announcing a new manager after weeks of public negotiations is hardly appropriate for a manager who delivered a European trophy recently. Shame on this kind of bubble from a top club. My prediction is that their appointment will struggle as he starts to look for another opportunity.

Random thoughts in what might be my last season following professional football. The Empire seems to be rotting from within.

Games over here are at 7:00, 7:30 or 10:00 AM. To help support our host’s business, I normally order the Irish breakfast before the game starts. For Sevco games, I do not, as my stomach is churning. If I hold my hand out, palm down with fingers splayed, I can see that I am shaking.

This season has been particularly bad, because of several factors: the off the scale cheating, the minuscule margin for error, and our abject transfer windows leaving our defence ridiculously vulnerable to far post crosses. Lazio, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen twice to name just a few.
Like you, I did not relax on Saturday until O’Riley scored to make it 3-0, despite it being one of our most dominating games of the season.

Celtic of course because they invested a lack of class, brought the renewal date forward to the earliest I think it has ever been.
Petec,
Again I wish I had more faith in my team like you.

Just sayin,
I should have added that you have been optimistic all season. You are more like my dad, he always believes anything is possible with Celtic. I believe the same but it’s usually that something terrible will happen. I have been at a game against them with him where we were winning four nil and I still thought they might get back in it. And they were absolutely honking at that time. He was just shaking his head and laughing.
