Opportunity knocks!

Is today the day?
Will the stars align?
A night to remember?
By ten pm tonight all the above will be answered.

Answering has become somewhat of a speciality for our footballing operations. Answering the departure of Ange with Brendan has clearly been proven the correct decision. The latter cajoled the team to answer their slumps in form, the pressures of playing for Celtic, and in particular to answer the threat of the title going to Ibrox correctly. Now there’s only one question left to answer,,when? Given they’ve responded correctly all season including points progression in Europe, I for one believe with all my heart they will get this one correct also, and the correct answer would be tonight, giving us a celebratory atmosphere for the final home game of the season.

Not only do I expect the correct answer, I expect a statement tonight. Yes its been one long hard season, but with the actual Championship merely one victory away, the final push should be much easier to find. Brendan knows how to prepare a team mentally for a big game, he will have worked his best magic, Lord knows he worked bloody hard to get us into this position in the first place and will obviously want the fruits of his labour to pay off, and now he had the chance.

At Rugby Park (an apt name given its another sport we watch sometimes in the SPL) of all places, a stadium, surface, and club that I dislike. And then there’s their manager, a most unlikeable chap.
There might even be a side-plot, I’m of the opinion Derek would like a shot at the Ibrox hotseat. Problem is, they need a manager who can best Brendan Rodgers, and although we’ve dropped points there before we will win tonight when it matters, and tell Scottish footballworld MacInnes is the apprentice not the master. Hire him at your leisure, he’s no threat. He, two managers at Ibrox, the weather, the poor playing surfaces, the whistlers, the Video Assisted Ref, the injuries, the farce of a summer transfer window, the Green Brigade banned, the misgivings over bringing back an exmanager who walked during the season,,,all of these couldn’t stop our beloved team from reaching tonight and the prize it offers.

It’s just too big an opportunity to pass up, everyone involved will want to hit that finish line first, and get this one over with.
When opportunity knocks, you answer. And like I said, this team likes answering.
Open that door Celtic.
Make this a night to remember.

Just win Celtic.

A lot of euphoria and words uttered after Saturday, but we have yet to win a thing. We’re in a brilliant position, let’s not blow it.

Good morning, friends and a Big Happy Midweek Matchday to all who post or lurk on this fine site.
Nervous excitement for this old man at the moment. Hopefully those dissipate early into tonight’s game. Remember, it’s a 7.30 kick off. So voting should open around 9.25 🙂

May 15, 2024 8:52 am

Just watched Brendan’s presser from yesterday . He just gave mcinnes a super reference , wouldn’t surprise me when Philip gets the boot he eventually ends up across the city . Thought he would have been there a few years ago .

Oh and another wee plug if I may (deadline Noon tomorrow)…

Good afternoon, friends.

If anyone fancies a bit of interest in The USPGA I’ve received the following email from the organiser. I’ve redacted the guys bank details and phone number but if you fancy joining in just email him ( iain.mcgovern@hotmail.co.uk ) and say you want to join but can he confirm where the £10 entry fee should be sent. Or message / email me (jobobaldie@yahoo.co.uk) and I’ll pass the bank details on.
Here’s Iain’s original email –

“Good morning all…..or should I say “Hi, Hi, Hi, Beautiful Sunday”? (If ye know, ye know…..) 🙂. I hope you’re well.
Here we are again with the second major of the year beginning on Thursday at the Jack Nicklaus designed Valhalla GC, Louisville Kentucky. You’ll find the link to enter below along with the bank details to pay your entry fee of £10. You can, of course, enter as many teams as you like. 60% of entry fees will go to the prize pot with the remaining 40% going to support the work of Celtic FC Foundation.
154 of the 156 competitions have been confirmed with the final 2 places to be filled on completion of this week’s PGA Tour events on Sunday night.
The USPGA tends to be less popular in terms of number of entries than the Masters (would be nice to buck the trend though) so that increases your chance of winning!
All entries must be received before the first ball is struck and I’m setting a deadline of 12.00 Thursday lunchtime. For any overseas entrants, that’s 12.00 Celtic Park time!😊 I’ll send a reminder email for any stragglers on Thursday morning. I’ll also let you know after entries close what the prize fund is.
In the meantime, I thank you for your interest and ask that you share the invitation with any friends or family, golfers and non-golfers alike. This can be done by forwarding this email or sending the link via text/WhatsApp. (Don’t forget to pass on my details so they can pay as well! ☺️) The more that enter, the bigger the prize pot and the more we’ll raise for https://charity.celticfc.com to allow them to continue the great work they do across the UK, Ireland and beyond.
One important request, may I ask that you take the time to check you have entered your email address correctly when you submit your entry. This makes the admin much easier.

Any internal appointment from SFA is bad for the game and the transparency of it. Colum is not the worst, but he’s been part of a rotten regime for decades and is routinely incompetent. It does not bode well at all.
Needed an outsider to shake up the Lanarkshire cartel and adopt new practices and processes to make Refs 100% accountable for all decisions.
This appointment does none of the above.

I’m beginning to sense that there is something global afoot ongoing in the evolution of the game today. World, European, British and even at Scottish level. I wish I could put my finger on it.
I’m thinking after the Euros are a flop just like Qatar was a flop and most leagues are flops some major changes are going to kick off.

With the appointment of Willie Collum as Head of SFA Referee Administraion what are the chances R2ngers shareholders will want to sign up the the SC Referee Resolution?

May 15, 2024 2:16 pm

Collum appointment is the one way to eliminate him from refereeing any future hun games. Clearly the dark forces within the bigotdome club have had some input especially after last weekend and another red card by Oor Willie.
It’s easy – promote to ensure no more poor decisions are made on the field. Problem eliminated and solved.

It’s worth remembering that none of these refs have ever played a game of football in their lives.
How can you completely understand a sport you have never played?
It certainly would explain the incompetence we keep reading about.
The only thing they all seem to agree is – penalty to Sevco!
Funny that.

Tonight Atalanta going for the first half of what would be an amazing double.

They just need to beat Juventus in the Italian cup final, and then be the first team to beat Leverkusen in the UEFA cup.

No easy task.

I might be wrong about this, but if Bayer beat Atalanta, Benfica would enter CL Group Stage and Sevco would be seeded in qualifying rounds. If Sevco don’t qualify, they drop to Europa Group Stage.
If Atalanta win, both Benfica and Sevco would be seeded in qualifiers.
Think that’s how it works.
