The show must go on
The post Matt O’Riley era begins in earnest this weekend against St. Mirren. I was wondering if he would be wrapped in the proverbial cotton wool in order to definitely complete his move to the biggest league in the world, that’s not in question anymore.
If Kyogo doesn’t start though, tongues will wag aplenty.
We all knew it was coming which makes it easier, a move telegraphed by squad leaving drinks after last weekends victory. A club record fee selling straight to a middle tier EPL club, his need to break through into a first choice Danish International, he was always going this summer. His new club look for second tier players, make them elite, and profit from their game and also their departure,,,Celtic do the same only one rung below.
Both are clearly just cogs in the great machine that is the football industry.
Of course our first eleven is now missing a midfield cog, there are alternatives in house notably Bernardo, but the gaffer wants two replacements (his words not mine) for this club record transfer player. Assuming he gets his wish (assuming doing a lot of heavy lifting) and with the window shutting before our next game, if you’re a midfielder this is the game to impress in, because you should be seeing competition arriving very shortly. Serious competition if the names linked are anything to go by. I’d love to see Paolo make himself undroppable with a scintillating performance come Sunday, Reo did exactly that last Sunday, so it’s already an interesting game given Robinson will face a new look unit in the center of the park, two of whom must fully show up to cement their place.
It’s a good opponent to sparkle against, they ain’t just SPL fodder anymore but have gained respectability for not only getting their act together but also not going down the kick everything that moves route. There’s a lesson there, if other boardrooms possibly managers weren’t so arrogant as to believe they know best.
The fixture itself should offer some Celtic insights, plus a good game of football.
Maeda and Taylor form a formidable partnership on the left, AJ and Kuhn are hitting it off on the right, the ‘keeper and central defense aren’t changing for this game, covered the midfield above so then it’s big Adam or wee Kyogo, both of which I’m happy with representing the Hoops as striker.
The big question that needs answered is how much of our recent form was down to Matt? We are scoring therefore creating chances, will his departure have an effect on the players and/or their performance? I like to think we can dispatch the Saints without him, we are favourites to win so the bookies agree. I might posit a home tie would be perfect to showcase the matchday experience to any potential signees but that’s unfortunately not the case. They would have heard about it anyway.
Still, a good performance even if away from home cannot hurt, might showcase what exactly anyone is walking into. The very last thing we need is a shock defeat, allied with a shocking end to the window.
From today (Saturday) onwards, the club could do with momentum building and maintaining an aura of invincibility, that starts with results on the field and ideally good results off it to conclude a successful 6 days in the life of our beloved Glasgow Celtic.
A player has left, but we still have the League, three Cups, and supporter expectations left.
They (players) come and go, just like you and I and all who ever lived, but the show must go on.
Up The Hoops!

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.
Here is the link for the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, our new charity which we will support.

Your spent hours upon hours on RES12 and for some unknown reason you still defend this shower of money grabbing, lying bastard that have done nothing but hold us back.
===========
That is a good point but I do not defend PL anymore than I trust him, but if I were in his shoes under the circumstances he faced (which I have good reason to believe was from UEFA not to investigate Rangers for any reason ) I might have done the same (bar let tainted titles be counted as valid although The 5WA was accepted by Celtic on the basis the LNS Commission would address the registration issue as a means of removing titles.
That it later transpired it was a fix which Celtic failed to challenge is a noose for PL’s neck that lasts to this day.
However MN was under the same pressure “not to bite the hand that feeds you” as he told me once and listened to arguments put to him when I disagreed with his and was ready to find solutions like undertaking at an AGM to engage with SFA and others on abandoning their own disciplinary rules thus taking over the responsibility from shareholders of seeking engagement,
And at the end of the day the FSR changes that Celtic were involved in did address one of the failings of the SFA that Res12 had as an objective to address and went a step further in the limiting what could be spent by a club on players which is hobbling R2ngers. Not bad for incompetents.
Since the Last Res12 was tabled I have worked with the previous Company Secretary on donating legal fees to Foundation who took on board my suggestion for making AGM question time more relevant and serious.
That would not have happened had I gone in an unforgiving huff ,but forgiveness is not a quality the Celtic support are renowned for having an abundance of.
I find that baffling for supporters of a club that was founded on Christian principles one of the most voiced by Christ being forgiveness, the other love they neighbour, but that is how things are in a world very short on both.

Mahe…players come and players go. It’s football’s Circle of Life – Hakuna Mutata, then? No worries? Our transfer dealings are pitiful, our Board’s entrenchment in this gathering of cash is lamentable, our lack of ambition is frightening! Go, Matt, go with our blessings and our thanks for everything. You were never gonna be a Henke or a Lubo but you were my favourite when you were here. A masterful first touch, beautiful vision and a rock’n’roll da!! If Heineken made fitba players you’d be the prototype!
But players come and players go? Do they though? Did we ever replace Henke? Kieran? Virgil? Victor? Moussa? Jota?
I believed Brendan had our backs, I thought he had enough balls to take this job on and force his will on this Board but the closer we get to the close of this window the less confident I become. A part of me still harbours hope that we will deliver but….
Mackers,
They do come and go, can’t blame a man for simply stating facts.
I’m Op-TIM-istic that we shall see incoming action as I’ve maintained.
The links are all good players which gives me hope.
Hail Hail
I’m with you, Mahe, I seriously am but the closer next weekend comes the easier the confidence ebbs…
anyway, time for some tunes!
How about this brand new one from my old muckers…
I know you’re all fond fond of new music on here so this one’s only been out a couple of days, give it a whirl, you never know you might actually like it! 😁
CFC PLC Meeting…
PL – So, what’s been happening this week, bhoys?
MN – So we made our own computer out of macaroni pieces
And it did our thinking while we lived our lives
It counted up our feelings
And divided them up even
And we called our calculation perfect art
PL – Brilliant, bhoys! Keep up the good work!!
‘We had a wee chat on here a week or two ago about U2, this was a beauty from LiveAid. I bought it afterwards, on a 12inch import ep. A stunning live performance at the time and a song that I’ve always loved. This is the live version and goes on a bit but it’s still brilliant.
Re that last video there used to be a quiz question about how many other artists’ songs were sampled on it…
My favorite u2 song that is 🎶 🎵
Morning/Evening Puff D…how are you doing, mate? Gonna see this band next week in Newcastle with my bhoy and my eldest girl!
Brilliant 👏
Cool video
Here’s another yin, Puff! They’re doing well just now and seem hellbent on spending their video budgets for every song! 😁😁
How are you mate?
Never been to Newcastle sounds exciting . I’m guessing Whitney bay would be close or Durham.
Durham was the only ice rink you had to fight your way in to play…you were completely fucked if you won as you would need to fight your way out as well
Doing ok other than the high-end water I’m on
Put some lemon 🍋 and mint in and it’s almost as good as cold 🍺
Blondshell no a bad wee band. Good pop song
Whitley bay
How’s the wee flea bag of a dug doing
Still typing, Puff, hing aboot!!
Fsake must be war a jam
Good morning, friends from a pretty busy Glasgow Airport. 9 nights in Estepona await. With Mrs Baldie in tow, of course. Well, she did turn fifty-ten a couple of days ago 😎
Whitly Bay…about 25 years ago…a boys’ trip to Newcastle or Blackpool ended up in Whitly Bay instead of Newcastle. One of the boys had been there and thought it was a no bad choice for a weekend. Anyhoo, we landed in the car park in the toon centre, two people carriers, 14 guys for a Friday and Saturday night of North East mayhem! Naewhere to stay, though! So, the car park had a Tourist Info Centre caravan and we went in and asked if they had any info of accommodation available in the toon for the weekend. At that time only 3 of us had moby phones so we started working down the list of numbers. As luck would have it, the last number on the list had availability! He’d had a cancellation and was ready for guests. I asked where his place was, he asked where I was. “We’re at the Tourist Info Centre in the toon” “Just come to the car park entrance, look to your left…aye, that’s me waving, see you in a minute” Sorted! So, we went along the road, a big B+B, plenty of rooms, loads of space for 14 guys!
We started getting ready for a night out in Whitly Bay, guys in the bath, guys shaving, guys watching fitba in the rooms with warm beers, on account, from the switched off fridges in the guy’s bar. We were making ourselves at home until one of the guys said “This place is pish innit” “Aye!!” was the consensus. “Why don’t we head to Newcastle, then” So, we packed our bags and one of the guys, the wee-est, was designated to take them down to the cars without being seen!! Halfway through the process the of loading up the motors the landlord came out the front door for a fag! My wee mate got caught on the way back for another collection of bags. We were looking oot the windae on the first floor, ready to pass the bags doon, the wee man chatting away but giving us the eyes to say wait a minute…time passed, we got fed up waiting and just threw the bags oot the windae!!! The wee man grabbed the bags and said “Sorry, we’re leavin!” We all burst oot the hotel, apologising on the way past the helpless guy at the front door! Every bathroom a tip, every bed messed up, empty beer bottles lying about and not a penny paid!! A wee drive into Newcastle and the night started for real! The poor guy, already let doon for a big booking then we go in, mess up his rooms, drink his beer and leave within 2 hours without paying a penny! It’s not good but hey ho, it is what it is!!
Sorry that took so long, Puff, had to sanitise the real version!! 😂
Hehehehe brilliant
Hot beers no as good as it looks
Hot beer’s definitely an English thing!
I bey your missing mOr already
I dunno if you know this mob, Puff, they’ve been about a few years doing Irish/rap/hiphop with Gaelic language. They’ve released a documentary which has been well received (seeing it tomorrow with the wee guy). This is from 2019, I think…
I am seriously gutted Matt is leaving! Seriously, he is the one guy I watch intensely every game!
Reminds me of a trip in to England back in the day we had a few imports in the team I think you could play 3 , so we’re heading home and I asked the Canadian if he brought his passport of course he said no shit … I said fuck sake we’re going over a border in to Scotland ffs we’ll have to put you in the luggage department .
Driver stop the bus .
I know . I really like that he’s such a good teammate and that could be a problem
You need a person like that especially with people from outside the uk with different language and that
HeeHeeHee…get in there ye Cnuck bassa! 😂
We let him back on the bus in about 20 minutes but he had to give me a beer from his carryout for being daft
HaHaHaHa…that’s feckin’ superb!!! 😂🤣😂
