Bad Bhoys once again
It’s incredible that during an International break the Tims get dragged into controversy. Yup, despite Celtic not actually playing, the Green Brigade and/or other ‘ultras’ found themselves ‘linked’ to political violence hence linking the support and club itself. Dragging the clubs name into the mix simply because there’s an opportunity for linkage.
After all, the Green Brigade wear all black sometimes, and those blokes wore all black.
That’s the height of it, the wearing of the colour Black.
And if they wore that colour it’s the Tims, is clearly the conclusion.
Now don’t get me wrong please, when a group dresses in the same colours/uniform/style, and marches down the street together, it’s fair play to refer to them as a collective.
But what I do consider wrong is to attach their sporting allegiance to their political beliefs for public consumption. That was a political rally, yet Celtic end up linked.
Again, please don’t get me wrong, anyone breaking the law should face the consequences, but automatically dragging the entire club and support into the debate is just plain wrong. Every single person reading is entitled to deliver their political views on the proper platform, which isn’t this one, but how many souls does it take before being attached to a certain football club? I saw maybe 30 blokes dressed in black on that video, yet I saw over a million gather in London for a political rally over the weekend.
No football club was linked, yet obviously there would have been supporters of various London establishments involved.
30 fans is all it takes apparently.
Adding onto this, is the reception received by the Republic of Ireland supporters upon gathering in London to watch a game being played in dear old Dublin. They got harassed, far from neutral police was the consensus.
Occasionally I like to entertain the merry notion that our beloved club are playing 4d chess with Scottish football. Become too big and dominant, help force your rival into permanent liquidation, and apply for a change of leagues based on these circumstances. A 100 plus million in the bank, the worm dangling in the water, we are ready to walk in and do serious damage. The EPL/Sky/Uefa would have a big decision to make.
A big footballing decision, but when it comes to football, supporter safety should take precedence.
This last weekends events, even without the world famous Glasgow Celtic taking the field, is just another example of the barriers we as a club, and as a support face.
Considered a problem, same as it’s ever been.

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.
Here is the link for the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, our new charity which we will support.

There’s certainly two tier policing in Scotland with regards Celtic and other supporters and also football supporters and sections of society in general.
Why that is, is open to debate. . Class certainly plays a part as does the need to control.
However, there is undeniably a lingering anti Irish and anti catholic sentiment amongst much of the Scottish establishment, media and large sections of the law. This manifests itself in many ways on a daily basis, visibly through media reporting and less visibly in the way sentencing and punishment are delivered through courts and other public services to those from Irish immigrant backgrounds.
Good morning, friends.
I haven’t seen the footage Mahe refers to but I understood that khali green was the Green Brigade’s colour of choice? Anyhoo, 5 more sleeps…

Here’s a nice thought for a Monday morning. Given that the police were largely on standby,on a watching brief before the alleged GB arrived,it’s strange that they were prepared to use such extreme measures so quickly. And only against them.
Thoughts?
Thoughts on Scotland’s latest effort ( or Clarke’s team ):-
Any international team with Grant Hanley even in the squad will be hopeless at defence
Albeit he is a Tim, Tony Ralston is never international standard
Christie is still as headless as ever
mcGinn is living on past performances as is Andy Robertson
McLean non existent and the only place Dykes should be is in a circus as the Tatooted person.
Steve Clarke looks like a man that’s just waiting for the sack
Ither than that…. they’re no’ that bad
CCB
Scotland, like Ireland the night before, just don’t have the players to play this current iteration of the game.
No technique to hold and beat the press and when full backs have it it invariably goes down the line for a chase.
McTominey goal came from play you’d see every game in the SPL and we rode our luck until Gunn, who made some brilliant saves, was poor for their equalizer.
Id say Ronaldo, offside, was in his line of sight.
As you mentioned, the two centre backs are not footballers but coped until they didn’t.
Tony Ralston, against Leao, was decent but needed more help, which he got most often from Gilmore but not from McGinn who was beaten for the cross for the winner.
In the new 4-2-3-1, McLean was poor, Dykes like a 60’s Centre without, well anything really and the subs couldn’t influence it.
Nearly a good result but you saw it coming.
Cant see anyone ( Doak ? ) coming through and no one would do better than Clarke at the minute.
I blame the teachers strike !

Until there’s an admission from the SFA that running the game for benefit of one team is detrimental to Scottish football nothing will change.
The allowance of cheating and brutality by referees to level playing field is a scandal.
The referees need to be held accountable for performance.)
A bit of introspection and an attempt at growing youth football would help.
Unfortunately innovation is alien to the fatted calves.
Clarke doesn’t have a plastic pitch or compliant ref to help his team so resorts to negative system.
His reluctance to give youngsters a chance is stifling any chance of growth.
Any fix won’t come easily but time for public and mssm to demand change in an organisation that has presided over continual decline for decades.
Nice touch from the commentator on last night’s game to mention the Lions. Had the added bonus of shutting McCann up.
Their achievements seems to resonate more with the English than with a lot of Scots.
Fan
I 99% agree with your comment. I’d go further and say that anybody, who has worked for the SFA in any capacity in the last 70 years should be excluded from working for them in the future.
The Star Above the Crest
One can only hope but those on a decades long gravy train will have to be forcibly removed.
Watching England v Ireland it was clear how much more technically proficient the English were.
Good first touch, awareness of teammates and physically stronger.
England are seeing the benefits of their school of excellence!
Unless we decide to invest in the youth game we are on a slow descent to obscurity.

I’m reminded of a time in the 90s where I was invited to attend a Scotland v Wales match at Murrayfield. I got the train through to Haymarket and was greeted with the sight of friendly policemen directing fans to the exits and pointing out the route to the stadium. Many fans left the train still drinking alcohol.
A few months later I made the same journey for a Hearts v Celtic match. Waiting for us this time was cops with German shepherd dogs straining at the leash and snarling. The reception could not have been more stark.
No one dared to display any alcohol.
BTW – The snarling wasn’t from the dogs!
Fan
It’s like they are playing a different sport.
The most exciting thing about the recent Euros was the emergence of Yamal for Spain. He was quite simply, sensational.
I think all clubs across Scotland could do more to encourage this type of player. As you say they’d need more protection by the referees from the cluggers. I think it has to start in the boardrooms of the clubs which means fans putting (financial) pressure on the directors.
Guten morgen.
Value for money, greatest bargain signings?
Henke and Lubo immediately spring to mind.
More recent times however?
Kris Commons.
Seen a wee YouTube short video from Celtic fans TV there – Celtic’s most successful penalty kick taker.
Commons top success rate from the penalty spot.
Then watched a few compilation videos of his best goals – phenomenal footballer.
One of those players we tend to forget about.

Think Commons sullied his reputation when he threw a fit at the coach in a European game.
But a very underrated footballer.
Was an excellent signing.
Was touted to join the Huns and we nipped in and signed him.
Could have tipped the scales in their favour if that had happened.
Fan – That’s true.
He did try to undermine Ronny, then further blotted his copybook during his spell with the media.
Still an outstanding signing, as you say.

100% agree on Commons. He was a big part of our success under NL Mk I. Lethal partnership with Hooper too. And by ‘eck,he could hit a ball. Stayed hit anaw.
Embdae know if there’s a CSC bus from Gartcosh?
BADA dont think so, I grew up a mile from there and it was always a hun hellhole moodiesburn miurhead or glenboig run celtic busses,H.H.
Former Celtic youth, Barry Hepburn, who was one who left to join Bayern Munich, has had his contract terminated by the German giants.
Shortly after joining BM, Hepburn suffereda severe ankle injury. When he returned, football closed down due to Covid, and it seems he has struggled to find his way since.
Liam Morrison, who also made the move from Celtic to Bayern, is now plying his trade for First Division club, Wigan.
BP- thanks, I think a CSC from Cumbernauld picks up at the Muirhead Inn
Bada 2.24pm
There’s a Celtic bus leaves from the Knights in Moodiesburn, which is only 5-10 minutes away from Gartcosh.
It’s always worth giving the club a call later in the week, and seeing if they can accommodate you.
Hail Hail.

Guys
im going to Faro in November and I’ve discovered that I can get a return flight to Lisbon for about £50 so I’m thinking of doing the pilgrimage to the stadium.
Can anyone advise me of when it it is due for closure?
BB- there are set times and dates when there’s no entry to the stadium, info might be via SLO …..
Cheers mate I’ll contact him.

Seems it’s not only at Celtic that career progress is difficult for youngsters. I know many of us have discussed how to break this cycle of our youths stalling in their late teens,or being poached by the promise of filthy lucre, but I’ve yet to hear of a workable solution.
Hopefully that holy grail will be found soon.
BMCUWP
I had a look at Bayern’s CL squad, and, honestly, couldnt see the 4 BM developed players. So, it is not like their team is filled with players they have developed. I could be mistaken but, with 5 homegrown players, I think Celtic have more than Bayern. A bit surprised wen I looked at their list. I suspect that they may have a few players on the B list, but I didnt check that.
BMCUWP
when you look at the rosters for so many big teams, they are full of players who have come from other clubs, and lots of players going the other way.
Nothing scientific about this, but it does almost seem like it is harder for players to develop through their own clubs… most clubs seem to buy and sell players as a first option…. teams dont seem to want to risk blooding young players these days.
would be interesting to see how many players have been sold or gone out on loan, and then come back to their original teams

That continues a forming trend, where the big clubs loan out their youngsters then sell them for inflated fees and buy in the cream from elsewhere for development fees at best. Gaming the system.

Evening all.
Just catching up with the blog.

I’m old enough to remember when those were only available on vinyl and cassette. Now,even iTunes and iPods are old hat, never mind CDs.

Don’t remember vinyl versions, my sister had the cassettes and cd versions.
Haaland doesn’t only average nearly a goal a game for Man City,he does it at international level too. In fact,he has done that everywhere since he turned 18yo.
An absolute beast of a player,a machine.

Didn’t think you would!
ATOB –
The deadline for season ticket holders to book their own seat for any or all of our 4 Champions league games was 2pm today. Whilst I expect that demand will have been high I’m sure that a public sale of any unsold seats will take place soon. Alternatively, Celtic might (might) first give season ticket holders the chance to purchase additional packages before any public sale.
What was interesting for me was that although I bought the 4 game package, I could have just selected certain games and the price per game would still have been the same. In the past I had to buy the full package or nothing, even if I knew that I wouldn’t be able to attend one of the games.
I’m not on the home ticket scheme so that I can pick and choose which non-season ticket games I go to. So I don’t go to domestic cup games and whilst I was debating over whether to get the 4 game Champions League package, our entertaining play so far this season coupled with a decent transfer window made my decision easy.
