Saturday night at the movies
Well it’s a theater of sorts and there will be a show, there’s evidence to say folks will be entertained,,,it’s close enough to the movies to qualify the article name.
It’s awfully decent of the fixture computer to consider us West Coast Tims, it’s will be nice having a few hours of life before settling down. I can only imagine the publicans will be rubbing their hands at the late start, the Tims will gather en masse to find a channel or stream and go through the drama together.
The lowly Saints don’t even have a manager, while Celtic have yet to taste defeat, on paper this is an easy away game, and of course we are heavily favoured by the bookmakers,,,but things were so simple as an automatic win the game wouldn’t be magical and addictive. There’s 3 points on the line yes, but also more.
Form, fitness, and continuity.
I would love a good all around team performance to signal form, and the key to that is individual performances. It’s that time of year when rotation and resting happens, and should anyone be wrapped in the proverbial cotton wool, their replacements simply must step up in order to stake a proper claim. With Dortmund on Tuesday, chances are at least one regular starter will get rested.
AJ is the obvious candidate, while the rearguard sees one enforced change. Two disruptions only then?
I’d say so.
Having been given a Cup fright with to many in hindsight, I believe the gaffer will get at least 45 minutes under the usual suspects belts, and if winning make wholesale changes taking the key personnel off early.
I would fully endorse that approach.
Daizen hasn’t played in two weeks, he’s a cert. It’s a pity Arne didn’t start against Falkirk because I believe he would have scored meaning today would offer the chance of hitting the back of the net 5 games in a row. Scales and Callum are nailed on. Kuhn is undroppable, and hopefully fired up to silence his compatriots come Tuesday having first silenced Mac Diarmid Park.
Kyogo should get the nod up front and hopefully a goal boost before we re enter Europe, although I wouldn’t be tearing my hair out if Adam started instead, no matter what they should both get minutes here.
Reo is a player that needs to play, he won’t improve on the bench, and with Dortmund losing 2 early goals yesterday hence looking vulnerable it’s probably best to go there with the intention of winning, a fit and firing Reo surely increases those odds. He needs to show consistency, tonight offers a good shot at that, let’s hope he scores or assists to force Brendan’s hand come selection time.
I’ve heard calls for Nawrocki over Trusty given he’s right sided offering more balance, I’ll trust the gaffer, but there’s no point playing two central defenders out of position so I cannot see past Scales starting on the left rather than Trusty. Plus I want the three main central defenders to get used to playing with each other and just cannot see Nawrocki starting in Germany. If Trusty has to be ‘sacrificed’ by getting pushed to the right of central defense then so be it, and he best get used to it because my fellow Irishman is rarely injured. He can start getting used to it now, today infact. Taylor, Ralston and Schmeichel round out the team.
I’ll take nothing granted bar the fact if we show up on the night we win, and in some respects the Champions League fixture hanging over us could be considered timely given the starters are further incentivized to perform and the ample (surely) subs should bring 16 Celts in total seeking glory under the floodlights. The fixture certainly hints at goals in both halves given the first 11 just wanna wrap it up and the rest want their name in the frame. Goals are excellent preparation for Operation C.L.A.W. (Champions League Away Win).
You might be in the last row of the balcony with your arms around your baby, but no matter where you are, enjoy the show.

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.

In addition to the nominated treble (see above) there is also a weekly 6-team acca. Each of us is looking for a nailed on certainty, but there’s no such thing! But we only make one selection each, and all we ask is
If yer daft enough to follow our advice, put a quid on each for the nominated charity as well! The current drive got a £400 boost from this a couple of weeks back,so we are hoping to build on that.
Go on,folks. A quid? What are you waiting for?
On last week’s performance Trusty is not yet ready for Dortmund and not even sure about today.
Don’t really understand why Nawrocki has garnered reputation he has?
Today would be a day for McCowan to make his mark.
We always have to be wary of SPL hammer throwers prior to Champions league matches.
Good morning friends and Happy Matchday.
Long standing arrangements for dinner with friends we haven’t seen in a while means I’m unlikely to catch this one live but hopefully a full rerun of the game tomorrow will allow me to cast my votes. I hope we kick off in second place but regain top spot very quickly.
Mahe,
Completely understand positivity around the defensive situation for Spfl games. Where we can usually overcome any mistakes or errors, misplaced passes and setbacks by overpowering the opposition with the genuine difference class in our mid/wide/striking departments.
I always get chocolate stains on my pants… living in a trance …
Fully aware we haven’t lost a league goal. We might even go a full season without losing one..let’s face it the standard of opposition is getting worse year after year.
Having watched our immediate CL opponents, admittedly on tele/ytube etc., etc. I conclude Our mid/wide and striking depts. might get us ahead. Early. We do have quality that can hurt teams. It’s a positive to cling onto.
Then again We’ve all seen this before… often.
What happens next.
These better coached, physically superior, prime-conditioned and experience garnered from playing majority of domestic games at full tilt and usually to the death IE 95/96/97/98 …minutes. To even gather a point or victory every single week in life…will bite us on the arse.
Yet again.
Two days in a row we have leaders telling us we have better defenders now, or improving defenders.
Give us peace lads. You are having a fekin larf! Surely?!
Recognising you are taking a game at a time and discussing St Johnstone ..but the elephant crushing the waste paper bin, is Dortmund followed by …well, you know etc.,
Aye, we will run riot against St Johnstone … not disagreeing.
Then I’d admit, Dortmund will probably take a few decent hits in the first half on Tuesday – we might even score one, and I’d go as far as to say two, then lose a late goal before half-time. As we lose concentration and tire. As we always do.
As Dortmund begin to wake up.
We then face their tactical adjustments in the second half…
None of our back line is up to the challenge they are facing over 90 minutes, and then some.
Their wingers will destroy our defence in the last third of the game.
Simply because, we didn’t prepare adequately. Didn’t apply, or utilise, our full resources.
A cast out of Hollywood facing Ealing Erstwhiles… 😏
Saturday acca is
Blackburn.
West Bromwich Albion.
Sheffield United.
Chelsea.
Celtic.
Lincoln City.
Remember to stick a quid on for charity, please.
CHALMERSBHOY acca, provided this week by JOBO,is
So, here’s my Saturday treble for Chalmersbhoy –
BRENTFORD (6/5) home to West Ham
SHEFFIELD UTD (5/6) away to Portsmouth
MONTROSE (13/10) home to Alloa
Combined odds of just over 8/1
Injury, form, and format maybe in that order can play a major part in Celtic’s season, especially in broader European terms. One game at a time and mini Europe begins again in Perth, after the Cup victory, now without our star defender.
Same as last season, let’s hope the absence is short this time because without CCV we are decidedly weakened. Along with our other star defender Liam Scales a formidable twinning partnership coasted to a double, as Brendan Rodgers sifted his way through the unreliable Phillips, Nawrocki, Lagerbielke and Welsh. This season step up Trusty, there will be an American in Perth, the likely partner of Liam in an unusual lefties centre back combination that should deal adequately with the rudderless home side.
AJ to return with Greg Taylor as the inverts are playing out of their skins so far, questions about midfield and up front, will be answered about an hour before K.O. Bernardo, Engels, CalMac and Hatate will all play at some point, up front Nicolas Kuhn is a certainty to resume ahead of James Forrest although the Scotsman, knows his way to a goal in Perth, off by heart. Kyogo or Idah is just a magnificent manager’s dilemma for Brendan.
bet placed (with the charity quid stake included) but I’ve omitted Celtic for 2 reasons – (1) scared of jinxing the acca and (b) at odds of 1/7 it’s not making much difference overall!!
Jobo – 1/8 with the Irish mob.
Never seen us this short a price before, away to any team.
Let’s hope it’s the formality they’ve predicted.
HH.🍀
Now that Palma is no longer featuring, how many of the 10 players we signed last summer are contributing anything to the team at this moment?
Who signed these players?
How much of rhe £20m we spent on them will we recoup when they are moved on?
One thing we are never short of on entering CL games is pessimism, seldom misplaced as it happens.
However, even the doomsayers among us must admit that this year’s team is very different to the ones competing in recent seasons.
I’m not overly optimistic but still think our front and midfield can cause anyone problems, especially the £11 million Bhoy.
i remember when Ange pulled off our attack against Leverkeusen away when up 2-1 and we had no out ball, ending up losing 3-2.
Hope springs eternal!
SeS: Didn’t Sir Alex Guinness come out of Ealing. Hardly a nonentity😀 ,
COSYCORNERBHOY
And Dame Margaret Rutherford. (Fawn, fawn, bow and scrape.)
Lots of big decisions on the team today. Do you play Johnston or get by with Ralston? Who partners Scales? Do you play Taylor or stick with Valle? Do you play McCowan and if so who gets rested? If the front three for Dortmund is Maeda, Kyogo, Kuhn do you rest some/all of them or ask them to double down and they get their rest next weekend against Ross County?
Good job Brendan is a top manager as I keep going round in circles trying to pick an eleven for today!
We’ll definitely score against Dortmund, and we will most certainly concede.
I’m just going to enjoy the game and hope for the best.
Stranger things have happened CSC. ☘️
Good thinking,JOBO.
Bobby
I’m not a gambler but I’ve stuck a few quid on and so has my son. Hopefully the charity will get the benefit.

Not really getting your analysis.
We spent money — some might say big money — on the defence and yet by the last week in September we are still trying to work out a way forward.
AR is marginal as a back up at RB but he is a known quantity.
AV is marginal as a starter at LB primarily as he is an unknown quantity.
SW is totally out of the picture as a credible CB as he needs game time to develop.
MN seems to be in hiding or BR has put him in hiding.
AT was an investment — far too late / hurting us as I type — but has no club profile yet.
Consequently our defence at the moment looks very thin / brittle / limited / accident waiting to happen and reflects badly on just about every level of our football operation.
In fact the players we have let go to pastures new would make an interesting contrast to the players we have to fall back on — hopefully lessons have been learned and work is ongoing to make progress in Jan / the summer.
We seen to be exhausted / patched up mode / living on injections and it is only the September weekend — not good.

Mahe, are you an Eddie Cochran fan, perhaps?😊. “Sitting in the balcony”, 1958. Second record I ever bought – an EP with 20 Flight Rock, C’Mon Everybody and Summertime Blues on London Records. Currently going for $29 on Ebay. Cost me one shilling and three pence.🤣

A bit of a goal fest at Chelsea 4 v Brighton 2.
Palmer scores 4 for Chelsea.
Brighton high line a la Ange helps.

Borrusia seem to be doing well financially
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/borussia-dortmund-publishes-preliminary-figures-100000638.html
If profit is taken as what can be spent on players the question would be how much of a difference would it make to eventual outcome if Celtic and BD spent up to the 70% limit FSR allows?
Would it be a worthwhile investment as in Celtic’s profit increases as a result, as opposed to the meaning given by our rivals and their friendly media where investment means increased debt?
Teams up…
Schmeichel, Johnston, Trusty, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Bernardo, Engels, Maeda, Kyogo, Kuhn
Subs…
Sinisalo, Idah, Valle, Yang, McCowan, Nawrocki, Hatate, Forrest, Ralston
McCargo
Scales rested? 🙂
Big Packy
Afternoon, Packy. I trust yourself and Joan are well.
Mon The Hoops.
Auldheid
Duly edited, think my keyboard needs rested. On a more serious note though that’s the second match in a row where a poster has known the exact team hours before it’s officially announced, no shame on the poster for sharing but the dressing room has a leak and that’s not healthy.
Emdy fancy a great night out? Just got this from a good friend,Frank, who many of you will already know.
Not sure if you know, but my wife Jacky came out of retirement a couple of years ago to run St Margaret’s adoption agency, the only Catholic adoption agency left in the UK. She now has it back on its feet after some significant issues.
I have been roped in as an Ambassador for the charity and one area I am looking at is fundraising. My big ticket item at the moment is a dinner dance we are running in the Kerrydale Suite on Friday 22nd November at 7:30. This is the first of what we intend to be an annual event to coincide with the Feast Day of St Margaret of Scotland, our Patron Saint (November 16th).
So as you can imagine, I have the begging bowl out! I am contacting like-minded people to see if they are willing to take a table for the event (or just some tickets). Individual tickets are £50 with the tables at £500. We are also looking for sponsorship for the event, ranging from £5k for the event sponsor down to advertising in the programme and on-screen on the night – ranging from £250 to £1000 depending on size and placement/regularity of the ads.
There will be a raffle and charity auction on the night, so we are looking for prizes and auction items for both of those. We may also look at naming tables and allowing some advertising on tables if there is an appetite for that.
So far we are on to our 3rd table for the troops.
HI MAGUA hope you are well Joan sends her best wishes👍❤ bit worried about the defense as luggy is Injured, but think we’ll scrape thru 5-0 🙏😎
Arsenal sore again from a corner
ST TAMS
Betcha the keeper was impeded again.
Test.
BD financials — shows what a bit of ambition can deliver.
CL success and their numbers go up by 25%.
So if we can punch our weight and some more an £150mill T/O is on the horizon.
Hopefully this will allow the execs to take a brave pill and announce a rebuild of the Main Stand.
Has the CL Tent been back out again for our press stuff this season?
If it has then shame on us — surely they could hire a hall at the Emirates?
200m away across London Road — surely we can spread the wealth and look professional?
Big push towards a T/O of £200mill / £250mill and beyond — CTV to do the heavy lifting.
What would Wee FMcC do?
Afternoon all,
Just in from a great afternoon with DRM and Chalmersbhoy.
Got to say, it was brilliant with some great Celtic stories 👋👋👋
And,
Chalmersbhoy boy won raffle prizes of a free pint ( upside down) and scratch cards !!!
Makes up for his West Brom prediction 😁😁

How the fk is Mutton on this programme
Big Packy
Enjoy the game, Packy. 👍
No Welsh or Palma near the bench, pleases me.
I’m hoping the midfield of McGregor, Bernardo, Engels is the precursor to the midfield we’ll use against Dortmund, Reo I love but he gives too many passes away which will be capitalised on against Borussia Dortmund, so I’m hoping he stays with Bernardo and is giving him game time with Tuesday in mind, as he’s tidier with the ball.
Premier sports listing Craig Levein as Manager dearie me 😳

Any sausages for the game ?? 🙏
