It’s tough at the top
It’s a thigh-rubber!
It’s probably the only unbeaten top of the table clash left in European football.
It’s today,,,and it gives me the utmost pleasure to type Aberdeen shall be the opposition rather than another club who thought they invested wisely enough to ensure the Dons would be looking up not down.
I’ll hold my hands up and admit I haven’t watched them, no highlights or anything but of course I’m well aware of their results and consistency. It’s my opinion the three games after today’s clash are their most important, because they will set the tone for the rest of their season.
If they win, will they slacken off a bit or push harder?
If they draw, do they take heart and keep picking points?
If they lose, do their collective heads go down or is the manager good enough to pick them up and get back to winning ways?
Is this a George Burley style Hearts title tilt, or a genuine emerging force?
If the latter, their manager deserves keeping tabs on when the hotseat becomes available.
If the former, keep eyes on him anyway.
A big part of the beautiful game is the unknowns, with today being full of them. It’s good timing all around for once,,,well done the board for not scuppering that sacred 3pm on a Saturday timeslot, thanks UEFA for the break the team needed.
But what I do know, is that there’s much anticipation for this clash throughout the support, traveler and native alike. The players shouldn’t need fired up for it, but it helps to know the Tims are as the team usually responds.
It’s warranted, that’s for sure. Brendan shall surely deploy what he considers his best team available which these days means a formidable lineup, and in theory we should be fresh.
In reality Brendan also got more tactical and training time and perhaps some man to man time with several of the uncalled starters.
That great timing all around extends to the fact we can play our best together against good opposition domestically before another big European tie.
And given that fact, it’s probably going to be a full use of the substitutes situation, the supporters will probably get a view of quite a few.
Given the stakes and the amount of football on TV it’s quite incredible the match isn’t televised, but I won’t get hung up on the issue. Ibrox leaning eyes will pay attention though.
I personally cannot see anything other than a Celtic victory and I’m of the belief the game goes one of two ways,,either a cagey affair or a home side romp. Given that after the last break we had scored one goal until the 89 minute, which was a penalty, so I understand a romp is unlikely, though I maintain someone is going to get an absolute pasting because on song this team can do the business.
That leaves a tight cagey affair. And I just cannot see past our depth and personal stories in that instance,,like Valle playing for a start and a move, like Idah needing to score if Kyogo does or doesn’t, like Big Liam facing his old side. Bernardo, Forrest, McCowan, Yang,,they would impact any game.
Engels can also.
He’s highest on my watchlist because that fading away after initial impact concerns me. If you read my Efrain Juarez article, you’ll understand why.
The Dons have done fantastic but are expected to fall at this hurdle, and it’s players like the above that force the bookie to make Celtic the favourites,,,the gambler in me would back Kyogo to score. He’s just spent two weeks working on his game and should be absolute mustard for that defense. I reckon he will breach it, not only because of thus game, but he will be desperate to start the next game,,he really wants to score in the Champions League and scoring today more or less guarantees his start in Italy.
I just cannot wait to see what evolves.
Up The Hoops!

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.

In addition to the nominated treble (see above) there is also a weekly 6-team acca. Each of us is looking for a nailed on certainty, but there’s no such thing! But we only make one selection each, and all we ask is…
If yer daft enough to follow our advice, put a quid on each for the nominated charity as well! The current drive got a £400 boost from this a couple of weeks back,so we are hoping to build on that.
Go on,folks. A quid? What are you waiting for?
Advance notice that our SATURDAY NAPS Competition will return TOMORROW,which is Champions Day. Although it is free to enter, the prize money,50% provided by the site and 50% by 16 ROADS,is well worth it!

Well done to Tom Farmer on bringing Alex Salmond home and eternal shame on the SNP and the Scottish Govt 😱
Aberdeen are maybe more credible than most think.
The Sevco friendly press probably want you to think it’s just flash in the pan stuff ..that they are just unbeaten in few league games and will fall away soon.
Well …
They haven’t lost a game over 90mins since losing at St Mirren in March.
Since that away game in March they have played 22 matches and their record reads: W18 D4
Of the 4 draws, one was the cup semi-final they eventually lost to us on pens.
Think it’d be fair to assume they have found a proper manager, given the fact the team is yet to taste defeat under his guidance.
Unfortunately for Aberdeen, the longer this run stretches, the longer the list of clubs watching him will grow.
It would be nice to think he could be there a few years and make them credible challengers but we’ve seen this movie before ..
A club like Leeds or Forest will flash their frillies at him and whoosh – Nice knowing you Jimmy! 😁
Good morning, friends and a Big Happy Matchday to you all.
Both Celtic and Aberdeen are currently 5 points ahead of Triggers Broom FC and surely their fans will be hoping for a draw to allow them to stay in touch with both of the big guns?
Triggers don’t play till tomorrow (away to ‘unbeaten in the last 4’ Kilmarnock and could, in theory be 4th place when that game kicks off. Motherwell (‘4 wins in the last 5’) are 4th, 3 points adrift of 3rd and 4 goals behind. But they are at home this afternoon to ‘haven’t won in 5’ Dundee.
But, as Auldheid would know doubt remind me, let’s see….
Thought it was Tom Hunter who paid for the flight to bring Alex Salmond’s body back to Scotland.
But who’s going to round up the deflated sheep and herd them back to Aberdeen.? meh, meh.
There once was a Big Fisherman, who lived by the sea, was he Puff The Magic Dragon, or…
A Supporter Who Got Lucky? What does that mean exactly and in which way did he get lucky, lucky, lucky.
Hope you are winning your battle with the Perch – young fella and thank you for doing what you do.
How about using this picture – Willie Maley The Man Who Made Celtic. But please keep that one on the right, that is just …A W E S O M E.
Love You – 😉
Going by Sportscene highlights Aberdeen have been nothing special the last 3 to 5 games I’ve seen. If they step out of a low block formation I’d expect us to win by 2 clear goals with Kyogo on the score sheet at least once.
CCV back today? , Scales has been immense for Ireland while away. More recovery time for Johnston and Valle more familiar with our setup. I don’t expect us to concede especially at home
Engels and Bernardo also had good experiences while on international duty and should start.

Looking at Dortmund’s results since our humiliation could that result have indeed been flukey? We find out on Tuesday whether it’s Brendan Rodgers or this Celtic team. A good win today a must or seeds of doubt will be sewn big time.
I don’t see the connection with regards the use of pyro’s and the genocide in the middle east. That needs explained to me. Is it the refusal to take on any responsibility for their actions ? Are they being ironic ?
Good stuff Mahe an interesting take on things, Europe will take care of itself……
Speaking of Europe, it was tough going for the Celtic squad in 67, but it was a squad and i would like to mention those players that never played in Lisbon, but who played their part in getting there.
John Fallon. – The bench grabber.
Joe McBride – played in the first two games.
John Hughes – played in five qualifying games. Gotta feel for Yogi.
Willie O’ Neill – played in four qualifying games.
Charlie Gallagher – played in two games.
Bertie Auld’s Lisbon shorts were showcased in the foyer of Celtic Park when he passed, along with his white sports bag, you could see it and pay your respects to an awesome Celtic legend.
But the shorts gifted to the lens – man John McEwan as a thank you gift for taking the pictures in the Celtic Lisbon dressing room contained the above players signature written in ink, with many others.
That’s how you know that the shorts are the real deal, because of the Celtic players that despite playing their part in the qualifiers never played in the final, they put in the hard work but what a crushing blow to these Celtic players to miss out on the final.
Miss you always Gran.

Agreed on the first bit. I’m not sure about the second bit though given among other factors the ongoing litigation.
I don’t know if you’ve seen Andrew Neil’s tribute to him .I found it surprising though on reflection it shouldn’t have been. They had an awful lot in common. It’s worth watching.

Hi Mahe
I play 5s each week with a sheep shagger. I asked him if he was excited for Saturday but he wasn’t particularly hopeful. He says Aberdeen are doing OK but nothing special – yet.
Almost all their wins have been by the odd (and often late) goal. Which explains why they are 7/7 yet only have a GD of +9 v our +21.
Which also explains why I’ve gone for 3-0 on our Superbru competition!
Nae changing your scores now bhoys! 😉
My hope and expectation for today is that they won’t come and park the bus like so many of our domestic rivals.
Beat the bookie challenge.
Reminder for Mccaff to get his selections in for 1pm..

After my disastrous bout of pre-match confidence in Germany,I’m steering clear of predictions. But I’d be happy to see yours come in.
£20mill team / club / squad at top chat will cause us problems giving our ongoing struggle to get VFM out of our squad / academy / team culture.
To be be fair AP got us moving in some directions.
BR is making progress but a huge way to go.
But NL2 looms large / phoning it in.
PL only interested in his bonus.
Hopefully the Sheep last the full season and kick on in Europe.
It would highlight how wasteful / lazy / inward looking the second tier of the SPL have been for nearly 20 years.
SN @ Hertz must break all records for ridiculous coaching appointment.
They looked like (Young) Last of the Summer Wine with a I-pad on a stick.
No wonder we can’t build ferries.
Pebble in the pond time — the magic simmit years.
At least AN aka “Brillo” had the decency to go to the dancin in his search for burds with more hormones than sense.
Threw a few shapes on the dance floor in his simmit rather than bush-wacking innocent note takers upstairs at Holyrood House.
Brillo at least gave it a go — out with the hip kids in full view.
Not for him the Jabba the Hut vibe of lying on top of someone until they fell asleep.
Shenanigans of 2019/20 — interesting that the earlier Edinburgh Airport angle was not investigated.
Weekly ritual — half cut and handsie with the staff / his and the airport’s..
He got a warning and was shamed into better behaviour.
Salmond was a lightweight political surfer.
He “rode” the waves he certainly didn’t make them.
87-92 — worth a listen / later stuff was just a self indulgent / attention seeking ego trip.
We’ll beat the 🐑
You’d like to think so, being priced up at 1/4.
Should be plenty of goals in the game anyway, can’t see us keeping a clean sheet.
Possibly one of those crazy 4 maybe 5-2 games.
I’d be delighted with a 2-0 to Celtic result,no craziness.
That’s my prediction anyway.
Right, may make tracks now, buzzing for this game.
HH.🍀
I watched Aberdeen v Hearts and wasn’t overly impressed. Hearts cut through their defence on numerous occasions and certainly deserved something from that game. ..but the Sheep hung in there and scored a nice winner.
If we turn up, and we often don’t after international breaks, then the outcome is inevitable.
3-0 Celtic.
Afternoon all
Am looking forward to the match – unusual to be going to see a team that is joint top and with a 100% record but which I have not seen play a full game live on TV. The Dandies played well in the semi final last season but no real suggestions in the media that they have ‘kicked on’. But we are often slow out the blocks post-international breaks and have a bigger game coming up midweek.
Enjoy the match folks.
Jimbo
Mm
”87-92 — worth a listen / later stuff was just a self indulgent / attention seeking ego trip.”
Your inspiration?
AFTERNOON ALLAND JIM AND MAGUA, think we will win ,to be honest when I lived back home in the 60s and 70s ive never seen aberdeen beat us at parkhead, now celtic park thats a different story😎😎❤only kidding, but yes thats a true story never seen them beating us in glasgow and to be honest cant remember them beating us at pittodrie, hey did I ever tell you the aberdeen story, if you think the vojvodina story was good, wait till you here this.HH 😎😎😎
I reckon the lawyers had to work hard on this before allowing it to be published. And that Jeff Powell is unlikely ever to buy Barney Ronay a pint.

I thought the same when watching Aberdeen v Hearts and until Hearts went down to 10 men in last 15mins I fancied them to take at least a point.
That is not to underestimate the Don’s threat, every game is different but I thought that for a team that had won 7 league games there would be more of a Wow factor on display.
