The King of the North
This is it, Aberdeens dream title aspirations boils down to tonight. A home win would not only claw back three points and put them back into touching distance of the summit,,a draw would be respectable but more evidence they cannot best Celtic, as would a home defeat.
It’s do or die for them, season defining to a large extent, and they will use every weapon in their arsenal. The home support is one such weapon, the place was raucous when the Ibrox mob visited, absolutely pumping, and I expect no less tonight.
While overachieving brings it own pressure for the Dons, the only emotion our side is displaying is that of enjoyment. Celtic really look a happy bunch with no signs of nerves, a dream opening quarter of the season has only spurred them on rather than bring pressure. That’s a priceless managerial knack.
Celtic should have beaten them at Parkhead, and we are playing better nowadays, not that the result is a given. But all our players are well bedded in, and I believe all are available for selection. Putting myself in the managers shoes I would tailor the team for the occasion,,,battlers and ballers, players who shrug off the freezing cold, and someone tasked with controlling the tempo of the game. I’d drop Engels and Reo, with Luke and Bernardo staying in, Adam over Kyogo again for this one, and maybe Scales in for Trusty.
I lost respect for Thelin after witnessing their argy-bargy approach, he won’t be changing that anytime soon unfortunately, and with their rabid crowd behind them we are in line for another feisty affair, here’s hoping we emerge unscathed which is a terrible thing to type in this day and age. Our team has a habit of rising to the occasion and not stooping low, I don’t think we’ve seen red this season. I hope that continues for this testing occasion.
Finally, I hope all the travelling Tims return home safely, drive carefully Bhoys.
And Up The Hoops!

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.
Here is the link for the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, our new charity which we will support.

This drive has already raised approaching another £2000,so join in. The more, the merrier.
Default payment method seems to be ApplePay,which won’t suit everyone. There is an option on the page to change that to your preferred option.
Morning all, my biggest concerns for tonight are the weather (it’s currently forecasting 50-60mph winds and pishing rain) and a serious injury to one of our players. The home crowd will be frothing at the mouth and whilst I trust our players to remain calm and play through it I fear it will encourage several red mist moments from the home players. Any win will do but everyone safe and sound on the bus home would be most welcome!
Was doing some research and looks like Aberdeen have won one League Cup in the internet era. The Don of a new era? I don’t think so.
Just needed the fifth and sixth paragraphs Mahe.

Good morning friends and a Big Happy Matchday to all who post or lurk on this fine site.
A draw tonight keeps us 4 clear with a game in hand and at least 9 clear of the team in 3rd. Both gaps would be acceptable.
But I’m confident, and hopeful of a win.
Agree with your line up Mahe.
I think we’ll keep our unbeaten run going tonight and the sheeps run without a win will continue. So either a draw or away victory is my feeling.
Aberdeen will be up for it, officials need to be on top of their foul play early doors, otherwise sheep will be emboldened to maim.
No injuries and at least a point will be welcome.
I completely agree that BR should start with the same starting XI tonight. It’s a game for the physical strength of Luke and Paulo. Engels would likely sink without trace (again) up against Shinnie & Co. That Hearts v Aberdeen game was like A Kick Up The Eighties – literally!
Also, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And the first 45 minutes last Saturday was electric.
The BBC Head to Head stats on the game point to an away win. I expect no less.
Beware, folks! Especially if you are a shareholder.

happened to my brother
He said it was Peter Lawwell.
control freak who?
SANLUIS
I assume the MIBs will be down to the usual standard,so quite probably our most dangerous opponents. It would suit them fine to see a few of our players injured and out for at least a fortnight.
Apart from that,I’m really looking forward to the game.
Trusty and Kuhn , for Scales and Forrest , would my only changes
But then again, I’m not the manager
Tonight’s game will be the 20th time Brendan has faced Aberdeen as Celtic manager.
His record reads – W16 D2 L1 F49 A14
Counting tonight’s game, Brendan will have faced Aberdeen more than any other team in his career.
The only other team he has faced 19 times is the Huns, who haven’t done much better against him.
His record V the zombies reads – W15 D3 L1 F43 A12.
What a confidence boost it is reading those stats.
I’ll be surprised if we don’t win the game tonight by a couple of clear goals.

Kuhn would give us more. ✅
I’ve become a Scales fan. He has won me over despite his odd lapses.
I think either of them will do a job for us.
Decision for Brendan to make as Scales does not deserve to be dropped ( sorry rested) after Saturday.
Any chance CCV will be left out?
FRODSHAMBHOY
I think we all agree that Scales has done nothing to deserve being dropped. The problem for him-and BR-is that neither has Trusty,at least since getting the chance on his favoured left side.
I think his future might mainly be at left back,as things stand.

What are you all worried about?
The William Hill Premiership match v Motherwell on Thursday, December 26 (Kick-off 3pm) will go on general sale from 10am on Thursday, December 5.
Then the next day, Friday, December 6 will see tickets available for Celtic v St Johnstone on Saturday, December 29 (KO 3pm).
If the shoe was on the other foot, specifically, if we were Aberdeen supporters, how would we feel about mustering all of our advantages to achieve a win, any win?
Personally, I am thankful that we have a challenger other than Sevco.
Having said, all of that I expect a Celtic victory. Depending on the starting selection, it could be an easy one. Bernardo has to start as does Idah.

Shameless repost from late last night.
Heartwarming stuff from the players. You can see how much it affects the new guys like Valle and Engels.
It’s not the purpose, but a side effect of these visits is definitely team building.

THAT is showing the newbies what Celtic is all about.
The huns do a sash bash.
Bobby, I know Trusty was rested rather than dropped so deserves to return based on recent form.
Problem is, and it’s a great problem to have, people are told that if they get a chance it’s up to them to take it. Scales, McCowan and Bernardo all took their chances on Saturday.
It’s up to Brendan to sort it all out.

Exactly what I thought, Bobby.
I happened to mention Valle in the post. I think we should push the boat out with Barca and try to sign this kid. His movement, first touch, awareness, deft flicks, the way he almost caresses the ball as he passes it, all tell you he is a real football player. Brendan always assigns a fast player to the center spot when we have a corner to attempt to foil a rapid counterattack. For a long time, it used to be Jamesie. Now I note he assigns Valle, telling us he must also be very quick.
He is one of the most promising young players I have seen for a long time.
I really hope he stays with us. He obviously gets us, and seems really happy, so that is a good start.

I’d sign Valle in a heartbeat. Looks the real deal, but Barca have his contact.

BP
Growing up, I always wanted a motorbike, or at some point, a vespa.
But, when I was young, a friend’s brother went under a bus when he was riding one. Awful. Put the fear of God in me. However, not enough to stop my trying later. In college was on a pal’s bike, and had borrowed LiT’s brand new lovely leather jacket … of course, I lost control, skidded on the side …. fortunately I was wearing the jacket, as it got shredded on one side when I was skidding … which, of course, would have been me getting shredded had I not been wearing it …. had to hide the jacket for months, hoping LiT wouldn’t see it ….
dont think he was too upset when he later saw it … cant really remember why … probably ’cause I hadn’t told my parents I was on the bike, and ‘the brother union ‘ rules meant he had to back me up … of course, he could just be a very good big brother (which he is, but dont tell him I said that!)
Mike glad you came thru unscathed I won’t breathe a word to Liam😎😎👍
On this day in 1982, I travelled on our recently founded CSC, to see the Celts beat the Huns at Hampden in the League Cup final. The Celts thrashed the foe malign 2-1. Goals from Nicholas and Murdo won the day, though Jim Bett did score a belter, to claw back a goal. My abiding memory of that day, is that it was pissing down from start to finish. Unfortunately, that was our last trophy till May 1985. I assume a few Sentinels were there that day?

Not long after passing my test,a neighbour asked if I fancied motorbikes. Of course, the more speed the better.
He took me down the bypass on pillion. On his own two bikes.
A Norton Commando 850 and a Harley Davidson 1100,IIRC. At full blast.
Want some lessons? Naw. That was lesson enough. Scared the shit out of outa me.

Welcome to the blog.
Hail Hail.
BMCUWP/ BP
Haven’t ridden much after that … but it is a rush! For me, possibly the biggest rush was sky diving …. jump out of a plane at 35,000 feet, and drop at 135 mph until you deploy your chute … was like driving the fastest car you have ever been in, but with no car! brilliant!!!!
although my first ocean dive, and/or the first time I saw a shark in the ocean … would be up there as well … primarily because I am pathologically terrified of water!
MIKEINTORONTO
Driving at speed, especially on either a motorway or a cool country road, was always exhilarating. Different speeds,of course.
Maturity and speed cameras took a lot of pleasure out of life!
