A classic fixture
It’s a great classic fixture today, Celtic at home to Hibernian. In days of yore this would be built up and sold out, a mighty clash where victory was hard fought for. It’s the Edinburgh clubs own fault it’s no longer one of the nation’s biggest games, but at least they are in the top flight and must come calling at some stage.
Their timing is handy, we could actually use a nice wee Paradise party before the squad head out to Croatia. Great chance for some players like Luke and Engels to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, great chance for Kyogo to get scoring before Tuesday. I could throw in Yang, who has a knack of getting European cameos, a few minutes today sounds sensible.
Get Trusty back in, keep getting that ball to Kuhn and Bob’s your uncle, easy.
If football was so straightforward none of us would be here.
Hibs certainly have nothing to lose. Their manager has his easiest team-talk (they’ve one eye on Tuesday and won’t give 100%) and tactics talk (they want the starters to open you up then switch half the team, just frustrate them for the first half then counter in the second with fresh legs while they are desperate for the winning goal). Their manager has just delivered 4 points and 6 goals to drag them off bottom spot, probably enough to save his job, defeat at Celtic would surely be deemed acceptable all around. But if takes anything from the game he looks like a genius.
It’s upto Brendan and Celtic to make it an easy match, although the central defenders are in for a rough afternoon against their 6’4” Ukrainian striker. Last weekend’s first half was spectacular, we have the tools in our locker and a home tie in the SPL is no longer a question of who won but who scored for Celtic and did the team hit form. The question of team form is being continually answered, and 3 o clock on a Saturday in your own stadium is the best timeslot to deliver that answer.
Selection wise obviously the midfield is the big call. Engels is due a break-out performance, Reo is best playing every game not in-and-out, Callum should sit the occasional game out, Luke and Paolo are deadly persistent,,,plus Turley could do with cameos.
If ever there was an occasion for an experiment, surely it’s when you’re at home to the 11th placed team with a double digit points lead in the table. With that in mind I would rest the Captain, but I know that’s unlikely, I suspect Callum, Arne, and Reo shall get another chance to gel better.
Just like our best midfield, the strikers remain a mystery. Adam last weekend, Kyogo midweek,,I believe Kyogo presses better than Adam, and that’s why he’s preferred in Europe, so I would keep those legs fresh and go with the Corkman today, the Samurai on Tuesday. A game apiece sounds crazy but I can see the merits, at this moment. What happens up top medium to longterm is the mystery.
The gambler in me fancies AJ for a goal, he really tried last Saturday, I’m expecting the same again.

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.

In addition to the nominated treble (see above) there is also a weekly 6-team acca. Each of us is looking for a nailed on certainty, but there’s no such thing! But we only make one selection each, and all we ask is…
If yer daft enough to follow our advice, put a quid on each for the nominated charity as well!
The current drive got a £400 boost from this a couple of weeks back,so we are hoping to build on that.
Go on,folks. A quid? What are you waiting for?
Good morning again), friends and a Big Happy Matchday to all who post or lurk on this fine site. The weather will certainly impact the attendance today so it’ll be up to us nearby fans to encourage the team throughout. Singing in the Main Stand? I’ll start one and see if it catches on!
Morning all,
Those heading to game,
Wrap up warm 👍
It’s going to be cauld !!!!!! ❄️❄️❄️
COYBIG 🍀🍀🍀
Cannot lie,I’m no fan of football in blustery conditions like Wednesday night, but it seems that today’s conditions should be relatively benign. Hope so,most of our opponents seem to view the former as an additional licence to batter us late or off the ball.
We all saw what happened on Wednesday-and me even mentioning it again shows how pissed off I still am-but that clown Robertson only awarded TWELVE fouls against them! He will be raging that Beaton got the shout for next week, but I reckon he’s a cert for Ibrox at New Year.
Win injury free and I will be a bit happier. Tuesday is no gimme.
LEGGY
My sisters will be there. Oh,the howls of outrage when I dared even ask if they were gonna brave the elements!
Team for today
Schmeichel
AJ, CCV, Trusty, Valle
McCowan, Mcgregor, Bernardo
Kuhn, Idah, Forrest
For those with an interest in improving Scottish Football there is lots in SFSA Chairman Andy Smith’s latest blog to chew over.
The SG has started the ball rolling.

Bobby,
Well done to your sisters 👏👏👏
Looks like there will be many empty seats today with weather and travel restrictions.
If only Celtic had a Exchange ticket system in place !!!!!
Nah, to sensible 😁😁😁
St Tams,
Is that a leaked team or your own preference ?
Get your Superbru in,folks.
Sadly,Tony is no longer around to remind us.

If ever there was an occasion for an experiment, surely it’s when you’re at home to the 11th placed team with a double digit points lead in the table.
———
Had me checking. We are 7 ahead of Aberdeen with a game in hand.
11 ahead of R2ngers.
Still a massive lead at this stage of the season.
Trying to pick a Brendan eleven is getting increasingly difficult given the options and quality available but I think we might line up today like this…Schmeichel, Ralston, Trusty, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Engels, McCowan, Forrest, Idah, Yang.
Arguably, Tuesday and next weekend are more important than today. I’d male 5 or 6 changes from midweek win at Sheep.
Teams up…
Schmiechel, Johnston, Trusty, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Engels, McCowan, Kuhn, Idah, Maeda
Subs…
Sinisalo, Kyogo, Valle, Yang, Carter-Vickers, Bernardo, Hatate, Forrest, Ralston
Didier Drogba on how to stop the “new” corner tactic by Arsenal and others. Got a point,to be fair.
“Put someone in front of the corner taker 10m away and tell him to jump so the corner taker won’t be able to deliver a good ball. Then you ask your goalkeeper to take all the sloppy balls and ask your defenders to protect him.”
MACCARGO
Solid enough side,I reckon.
5 sevco supporters to officiate at the league Cup final.
Stop the treble is the mantra.
Don’t like CCV not playing 😡
Let’s hope the hibs keeper doesn’t have a worldy.
He’s been terrible all season.
Westcraigs,
if they don’t beat us next week with they officials, they never will 😁
HH
WESTCRAIGS
Not kidding either. Gloves are off.
In England you cannot officiate at a game involving a team you support. In Scotland you cannot officiate at a sevco game unless you are a sevco supporter.
Only in fair Caledonia.
BMCUW…
Hopefully another case of get the job done and then run the bench for the likes of Yang, Forrest and Ralston.
Daniel Fergus with some random fans 😀
Shocker by Taylor, yeah i’m looking at you McCaff 😜
Engels!
Yes Engels
Luke off the bar. Great move.
All Hibs.
1-0 Engles, great play by NK & AJ.
HH
Was that Taylor or Wee Jinky on the right wing there.
Hibs miss sitter.
Defence wide open 🤬
Frodshambhoy 🤣 Taylor was doing well getting himself on the right wing, then gets skinned two minutes later to let hibs in, good job Newell couldn’t hit a barn door with a haunfull of peas
AJ pushed in the back at full pelt, slides into Bernardo an corner flag!
Wide open again.
We would be on a hiding playing like this in Europe
Hibs miss 3rd sitter.
Get CCV on now ffs 🤬
Schmeichel could become MOTM here, the way they are breaking through us
We miss sitter 😡
Hibs cutting us open. A half decent team would be well ahead here. Suicide tactics.
We’re making Hibs look good at the moment
Engels yellow hopefully means BR will hook him for Bernardo 2nd half inject some much needed slick play
Good game so far with Hibs making a decent fist of it on the break. Ref keeps getting in the way-anyone would think it was deliberate!
Disjointed forward play allied with Scales, Taylor and to a lesser extend Trusty’s inability to see runners on their shoulders mean it’s closer than it should be. Idah needs to get out of his own head and just play.
WESTCRAIGS
Re the five huns officiating next week, who are they? And does that mean there will be more R2ngers fans officiating than playing?
Engels goal for 1-0…
(19) Celtic Goals on X: “Engels 1-0 https://t.co/TP424OxMnM” / X
Idah has been poor, Taylor needs to stop going into midfield so often as Hibs see it and throw balls over to his position with only Maeda to combat their tactic,
If not for Hibs poor finishing and Kasper we could be behind by two at least.
Kyogo and Bernardo on for me.
