Organic money vs Borrow FC
Firstly I’m delighted with this fixture, because I’m a firm believer that tough games are actually the best thing for this team right now. Doing well despite not firing on all cylinders, a tough opponent in a very meaningful game shall either bring out our best, or teach a hard lesson.
Of course I lean towards the former, Brendan has a fantastic record at Hampden, maybe the best of any manager, because he has the knack of getting the team fully motivated for the big occasion. Not only that, but we are hard to beat fullstop, not many teams out there have a solo blip around Christmas time.
I don’t live or die by trebles, this trophy won’t make or break my year, but lifting all three would obviously be progress, which does grab my interest and imagination.
I’m watching a club knocking the door of the next level, so I suppose it’s only natural silverware would follow. And it will, but no one yet has won everything, all the time. By no means is victory guaranteed, not by a long stretch. The bookies may have us at generous odds, but anything can happen on the day.
Of course I didn’t watch the midweek return of Ange to Glasgow, but the result and match descriptions tell me a couple of things,,their players were confident enough to forget the wage/stature/star status of Spurs on the night, enough to impose their game for spells, enough to score,,,the confidence of holding an EPL name in front of their own fans will more than likely provide a timely confidence boost as they once again play in Glasgow in front of their own fans, not exclusively obviously but still being yelled forward.
It’s already a hard game, and it looks like they’ve found form which eludes us currently yet we grind out point after point.
But here’s the rub.
This Cup Final is the ideal opportunity to kickstart our second wind of the season, to bond as a team, to really show the players the light at the end of the tunnel.
As the opening line said, I’m delighted with this fixture,,it affords us the opportunity to hit second gear again, and take much heart if achieved.
I’m faraway but know a few Bhoys going, and I’m sure it will be a memorable trip, but I ponder how much lifting a Cup affects the entire club?
From the top down, it can’t hurt but vindicate our new salary tier, our record signings, the manager, coaches and scouts.
Commercially, that’s what they want. Both merchandise and sponsors, which incentives higher income.
Finally, football operations. There’s a reason player after player has repeated the old cliche after getting a personal cheer upon hoisting the Cup in front of their support,,’This is what it’s all about!’
None of us know the pressure of playing for a global giant, live the day to day life of a modern footballer. As a homebird with a big dog, beautiful wife and likewise young daughter, I couldn’t do it.
They do, day after day, month after month, year after year.
To reach this point in their lives, to say it was all worth it, to actually be a winner fullstop.
I’ve gotta imagine there’s a release of tension, maybe a surge of self confidence, perhaps a realization this is where you’re meant be,,,and I’m entitled to dream (perhaps foretell) that the second half of our season begins here, lifting that Cup and using it as a springboard to hit that early season form again and be fully onpoint for the tough winter schedule then the business end of the season.
For several players it’s the ultimate showcase.
I don’t think Engels nor Trusty have won anything in their careers,,I’d start them both and tell them if they want some medals and tales for the grandkids later in life, here’s their chance so go and do it.
The 3 Samurai seem to thrive in the heat of this paticular battle, a good game from each would put many minds at ease, whilst late on (surely) Adam will have another chance to be the toast of Cork City, Glasgow, Central California, and many places in between.
And I cannot leave out Kasper, on his last hoorah but still the difference-maker on occasion. He deserves a medal, at least one.
We have personal stories, we have personal points to prove, we have two opposite managers with what seems like two good sides going at each other.
Sounds like Ange-ball however he couldn’t beat them,,but Brodge-ball is a different kettle of fish, hard to beat, efficient, yet devastating at times. Devastation is usually a bad thing, but when it comes to our opponents, their support and all that club stands for, I’ll make an exception.

In addition to the nominated treble (see above) there is also a weekly 6-team acca. Each of us is looking for a nailed on certainty, but there’s no such thing! But we only make one selection each, and all we ask is…
If yer daft enough to follow our advice, put a quid on each for the nominated charity as well!
The current drive got a £400 boost from this a couple of weeks back,so we are hoping to build on that.
Go on,folks. A quid? What are you waiting for?

Fair play to Celtic’s work at the ECA for the development of FSR and the innovative league system that has revolutionised European club football.
Respect also for the development of income streams including recruitment and commercial activities.
Clubs across Europe are plagued by debt.
Celtic led the way at the European level when domestic associations proved to be absolutely unable to intervene to stop the rot.
Under the previous system we could not compete at a sustainable level. Now we have an opportunity to at least compete.
Over to you now Brendan. Let’s see those record signings deliver.
We’ve exceeded expectations already in the CL. We’ve also been fortunate, drawing three teams who so far, haven’t won a point. Minus 42 goals between the three sides.
Who knows when we’ll have a better opportunity.
No, you won’t hear a word in the Scottish media about what Celtic did to level that playing field and improve the Scottish game, including enhanced solidarity payments.
Night.
FSR??
what a joke
FSR in Scotland ???
an even bigger joke
the Scottish league cup??
I mean how much shite can one country take?
let’s talk about EBTs and tax dodging and FIFA bribes and Man City in compliance and Spanish tax payers funding Real Madrid and Middle East monarchies and Russian oligarchs and It all being rubber stamped by the British judiciary You are all fuckin deluded.
let’s talk about forgiveness like nothing happened
OMG — just when you think things are settling down …
Bigging up your pals — we were one of 9 teams that put forward their thoughts to the ECA submission to a EUFA workstream on financial management Mk2.75 and a bit.
Did we get an invite to the christening of said financial framework.
If we did it would have been standing room only.
Talk of parenthood — not quite.
The closest we came to parenthood was sitting next to the mother in primary school.
Hoddit and Doddit / Heid and Hoof / Daisy and Dotty — their names aren’t on the birth certificate.
And then came the sniping — BR over to you and your expensive signings.
BR over to you and your fanciful notions of CL competitiveness.
BR over to you and your luck with the CL fixture computer.
No mention of the efforts put in by our exec team in years gone past to make sure that some form of Govan FC would be still available to play in the SLCF of Season 2024/25.
Or the 18 years of failure that stopped us from approaching any CL campaign with some sort of planning and a degree of equanimity rather than the constant repetition of blind panic and asking NB to fill in at CB again when we pay a team in the qualifiers that Ryanair doesn’t serve.
Oh well nonsense like this means that I am actually starting to care about Sunday’s game.
Before the sniping I was focusing on the SPFL and the CL with National Bigotry Week / Take 2 being something to be endured rather than enjoyed.
Now I hope that someone prints of the sniping and posts it on the manager’s door so that he knows who the enemy is and how he should make the opposition pay.
Reverse psychology — no / not that smart.
Cheapshot — the bookies have already paid out.

This is in the fk me territory, or it’s David Brent….
Bada,
And to think he didn’t get an Oscar or even an Emmy for that performance.
Back in 2012, Charles played the role of Billy Williamson …
In his all time classic hospital bed scenes Charles plays a dying man (Billy) who will do anything to save his favourite football club from financial oblivion ..for that he was nominated alongside Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson and Brad Pitt ..there were audible gasps from the assembled glitterati when Nicholson’s name was read out, as they were so sure the real winner was Charles Green for his roles as Billy Williamson.
The story begins when the legendary manager Walter Smith let’s slip that the bank are running Rangers …time for our hero Billy to be introduced to the audience …
The first in a trilogy of movies based around the trials and tribulations of the most successful football club on the planet.
In the 2012 classic – Always cheated never defeated – Glasgow Rangers take on the unseen Fenian hand.
The now famous journey begins when Billy and club find themselves on the bottom rung of the Scottish football ladder after their unfair demotion.
And in the 2013 follow follow up – Quis Separabit – why don’t you go home.
A cautionary tale of greed and corruption in Scottish football – A classic in which Charles shows his adaptability by making tea and cake for his beloved followers who have queued all night to buy tickets to Billy’s tea party.
And the last in the trilogy – Glasgow Rangers a journey ends – We hate Dundee United
An instant modern classic in which Glasgow Rangers take back their rightful place as the world’s most successful club. Does Billy survive? Do Rangers make peace with the rest of Scottish football? Join us on this glorious journey and find out!
A trio of movies that have broken all box office records …you will laugh and you will cry, but by the end you’ll be up to your knees in wet hankies!
3 movies that are an absolute must have for ANY film collector.
Two responses.
One from the Alf Garnett of Celtic cyberspace. The other from Lost in Transit, posing as a Celtic supporter.
After the last Glasgow Derby, Lost in Transit was posted AWOL for three weeks.
Arguably Clement is doing pretty well managing the fire sale. EL results have been good considering the turnover of personnel.
He’ll try and play in a similar way as Bruges tomorrow. We should have too much, given our resources.
Performances have taken a dip but that’s normal during the exertions of a CL campaign.
Good luck to Man City and Man Utd cutting costs and curtailing spending to meet with domestic and European regulations.
The financial and competitive landscape of elite European football has changed. Celtic were/are at the forefront of those changes.
The development of FSR and the League set-up are groundbreaking.
The previous financial and group structure was not simply uncompetitive but led to financial distress in clubs controlled by irresponsible executives.
If anyone from Sevco had contributed to those landmark changes the media would have be full of stories, trumpeting their input.
Predictably hardly a word in the Scottish media.
It’s not just the negatives that we read about Celtic that affects perception. It’s the failure to accurately report the truth.
Lost in Transit,
Thanks for the grudging acceptance of Celtic’s role in the development of FSR.
As Ibrox adopts sustainable football, built on “organic” financial resources, things will improve.
Mr Stewart is a step in the right direction, if he isn’t brought down by the ongoing investigations at Old Trafford.
In the meantime…
On the back of the groundbreaking Umbro deal and just to whet your appetite…

Have a great day all.
Our last dozen meetings with the cheats from south of the river …
P12 W9 D2 L1 F24 A10.
Worth remembering that their only win came in May 2023 after Celtic had already clinched the title.
When the match has any meaning and the pressure is on, it appears that only one club is able to perform.
Again, when Callum and his battle-hardened troops go up to lift the trophy, the last thing on my mind will be how we played!
Tough opponents? Not according to the stats!!
The orange order have asked police Scotland to investigate a possible hate crime.
The crime? The flying of a flag with bad words printed on it that was seen at Celtic park.
Celtic’s part in said crime? Apparently we allowed the crime to take place at our ground.
Celtic’s name was actually mentioned 8 times (Including the headline) in relation to the story in this evening times.
Even though we had absolutely nothing to do with the actual ‘Crime’ (All we did was host the match in which Hibernian supporters had brought the flag) Unless you took the time to read the whole story, you would be left with the impression Celtic were the one’s committing the hate crime against the poor orange order.
So predictable.
A hate crime against the Orange Order🤔
Is calling members of the OO ‘orange ba**ards’ hateful or truthful?
I’m sure we are all looking forward to their annual multicultural festivals of enlightenment and inclusivity next summer😏

Bobby,
You said you didn’t watch the “Battle of Britain” so I can reassure you that tomorrow is not a match between “two good teams”.
Firstly, it was a match between two teams (and managers) under severe pressure given how their seasons have gone so far. I know Christmas is approaching but that didn’t mean both teams had to play pass the parcel with the ball. They did this all night.
There were so many unforced errors it was like watching two tennis players play blindfolded!
I’m sticking by my earlier prediction of 4-0 to the good guys.
In response to all those who suggested last night that they couldn’t give a fu….er toss about the League Cup I say this:
Remember how you felt when we were cheated at Rugby Park last season and knocked out due to being denied a late penalty?
Remember how you felt when BR arrived, to being constantly reminded that they were ” The most successful club in the world” and with 7 trebles to our 3?
Well, they don’t mention trebles any more, now that we’re 8-7 up, and a win tomorrow would mean that they will need to “get the decorators in!”
So, tomorrow is, in fact, probably the most significant LCF in the history of the competition. Indeed, if THEY win it will be the most significant Cup final since Lisbon 67!
Oh and also…
Our defeat at Killie in the LC allowed Tavpen to complete his unique “treble” ie a full set of medals curated over NINE seasons AND a chance tomorrow for them to retain a trophy for the first time in their 13 year history plus giving Tavpen his first “doubler”.
Still DGAF?

Good morning, friends.
There’s only one (ahem) Battle of Britain that matters this week. 3pm today, EKFC v Berwick Rangers in the Lowland League. My attendance depends on how quickly Mrs Baldie manges to go into every second shop in the Livingston Designer Outlet. I’m not optimistic!

Citeh / ManU cutting costs — it will be a £600mill spend rather than a £700mill spend.
Similar levels of talent just being paid a bit less.
Govan FC with a £100mill T/O will always be a threat.
If they stop the ego tripping / the self serving purchasing strategy / the continual churn.
At some point some in their support will notice that they could have had a good team given all the players that have washed through their training ground in the last few years.
However continual churn with managers / footballing staff plus a reliance on loans and frog kissing mean that it was all a blur and when the music stopped the wrong people were sitting on the chairs.
Govan FC — some have quality but not consistency / some have consistency but not quality.
A couple of players look like they could develop into something while others look like they will need all the Ludge MIB / Ludge Media support that they can get.
Consequently cup game — if we turn up we win.
They have a puncher’s chance — times 2 — as Ludge MIB will have their backs / fronts / kicks / stamps.
Their best chance is if they come out and play.
Our best chance if they come out and play.
Repeat of the recent SCF — poor game with little ambition is a coin toss.
We had more quality so we made our chance count.
That scenario still hurts them.

I think you doth protest too much.
The bar on personal attacks would appear to be very variable.
Based mainly on who is making the “attack” and who is the intended “target”.
As for the WhatsApp group — it is an integral part of the discussion on here.
Pops up from time to time in general chitchat — no secrets involved.
Tiresome and repetitive — must come with age / there is a lot of it about.
Bit of a dig / bit of a jibe — would that be a personal attack?
Another dimension to the SC “No Politics” rule in operation?
Me — I am just happy that “growth” is now part of the dialogue surrounding the club.
Took 3 years / possibly 6 but we got there in the end.
Now they need to publish the agenda behind it.
Main Stand rebuild — here we “fu**in%” go.

Main Stand Rebuild — the Blob edition.
Cheap / low energy cookie cutter design vibe with no innovation or imagination.
Better than nothing but you would have thought that we could have moved things on from FMcC in 1994 and his very Q+D knock-off Murrayfield design with its 44 / 28 split.
Very effective / very efficient but we are 30 years down the track.
Need something a bit more in keeping with the times.
A lot has happened in those 30 years.
Bobby at 11.14 – coupon on. 46/1. Confident of 4 at least.
67 Years ago, in 1957 Celtic played a league cup final, against Rangers
There’s something magical about that number 67.
The score was Celtic 7 Rangers 1
ASWGL,
Another one CCB was fortunate enough to witness. These old timers have seen some history. I suppose that’s why they’re old 😂😂
I watched the Huns Spurs game. First time I’ve watched them all year bar our games.
What I noticed was just how poor Spurs were. They seemed spooked by the Hun support, they could not string a pass together and in Timo Werner, they possessed one of the worst footballing brains on the planet – rightly subbed off at HT.
The Huns dominated opening exchanges by winning every single 50/50 and second ball. Spurs grew into game but not enough to win it. Huns midfield competed to the top of their combative abilities, but their passing and decision making was very poor.
So, can they beat Celtic. Yup definitely, they came very close in May’s Cup Final.
The Celtic midfield needs to play with high energy from the off. Otherwise, we’ll be toast. Reo cannot be a passenger in this game, neither can Daizen and Kuhn. All three have been underwhelming this past few games. Tomorrow cannot afford to be more of the same. For that reason I expect GT to start to offer more support, but also some tough tackling too.
If AJ is fit , I think we’ll win. If not I can see it being a real struggle.
I hope we’ve been practicing penalties… and I’ve a feeling a red card or two may be dished out.
MAGUA noticed you haven’t been posting, just because I dont post on here anymore, does not mean you cant ,ill always give you updates on Joans health if the moderator allows it, bobby is a good bloke so cant see any problems, hope we beat them bassas tomorrow, but having been to hampden in the sixties and seventies against thems, im taking nothing for granted, hope you and all sentinel celts are well 👍❤

I watched the R2ngers v Spurs game as you did and arrived at the same conclusions.
Anyone who thinks it is anything but a realistic assessment based on most recent performances as opposed to history knows little about football.
Hibs at bottom of league drew 3 3 with Aberdeen and won next match 3 0.
They carried that form into the game v us and only Kasper prevented points being lost.
We can win but it will be no walk in the park and even if we lose it will be an outlier not a game changer.
Pebble in the pond time — Govan FC vs Spurs.
Govan FC came out very defensively — high energy start then tactics.
When Spurs had the ball it was a tight / narrow mid block to keep some shape.
It was only after 15 / 20 minutes that they started to realise how poor / lacking in nous and confidence that Spurs were that they started to open their game up and try some attacking moves.
Similar to the 1st game of the 2020/21 season — took them 15 minutes to work out how bad we were going to play / it was not part of their game-plan to go onto the front foot.
They had some good play / good moves / making the most of any opportunity.
However they lacked quality and those that had it lacked a finish — they have had better players in the recent past but they all too often fell out amongst themselves.
Govan FC — they have settled down and seem to be on an even keel and listening to their manager. Confidence is returning and they are starting to string three passes together. However Spurs are in the EuL for a reason / their other opponents are in the EuL for a reason — they are not very good.
Govan FC joker this season — bit of energy / crowd noise / bit of shoe / lots of niggle.
Might work in the EuL but we have seen it all before.
We turn up — we win.
We turn up like the SCF — coin toss.
They were set up to be mega cautious and couldn’t capitalise on our honking performance.
Worst MF display of the season and they still wouldn’t expand their game.
Our bench won the game — hopefully the starters can do it this time.

Fair play to Celtic’s work at the ECA for the development of FSR and the innovative league system that has revolutionised European club football.
===
Whilst tighter sustainability rules were needed across Europe do you think Celtic were aided in their pursuit of change by the detailed evidence of suspicious practice by SFA and Rangers that shareholders lawyers presented to UEFA in 2016?
Somewhere in the correspondence with SFA, Celtic made the point that lessons could be learned from investigating after SC ruled on ebts. A phrase that came up in discussions during shareholder meetings with Celtic.
I recall putting a case for tighter financial control that was part of an article on SFA reform to PL way back in 2010 or so which he noted.
I’m not suggesting Celtic were not already aware of the need and how Rangers unbridled ability to use other people’s money to buy success (which BR has raised) needed stopped but whilst it has taken a long time to bring in FSR Celtic have created a much more organically equal playing field in which to grow and it is simply churlish not to recognise that Persistence Beats Res12tance in the much broader context of how Celtic have grown organically?
Leitch with 4 goals for East Kilbride against Berwick Rangers in the first half.
Mainz leading Bayern 2-0 after 79 minutes.
Liverpool equalise 1 1
Van Nistelrooy already regretting going to Leicester. Newcastle with 2 goals in 2 minutes to go 3 up, and it should really be 7 or 8.
Had my tuppence worth on Huns v Spurs yesterday, however we are a different proposition for them.
We know what to expect.
As long as Calmac sets the tone and we get performances from our own lacklustre front three we will win- just not as comfortably as we thought a couple of weeks ago!
Their defence is still distinctly average- Tavpen and Jefte have mistakes in them.
Daizen n Kühn should exploit this.
Kyogo to put the fear into whatever combination plays at CH. Looks likely Souttar may be out.
They also won’t have the comfort of a whole stadium behind them in full bigoted voice.
Hopefully their exertions take their toll.
A second energy/emotion sapping game
after a short recovery period would not be on their wish list.
The good guys to win by the odd goal.
Organic growth — all down to AP’s energy and ambition / nothing else involved.
The boards / the execs had nothing to do with it — AP and his growth talk scared them fartless.
18 years a failure — left us the same size as he found us so not a good look..
Not exec progress no matter what the Blob might say.
10 man Liverpool with 63% possession.
Many Liverpool fans want a new left back. Andy Robertson with 2 penalties conceded this season, an own goal and now a red card after a poor first touch.
