Ranting Raving Ragers
Morning,all.
Much as we complain about the hectic fixture schedule, it is rather nice to get a wee break in midweek for once. A chance for the players to ease the tired muscles, bones and mind. For the coach to do some coaching. For the manager to have some longer chats with the squad, individually and collectively, about the way forward. Particularly for those relentless next six weeks when we are back to the grind.
Of course, that leaves the likes of myself with a bit of a problem. Like what the hell to talk about! Fortunately, Santa arrived early this year, with a bag of belly laughs slung over his shoulder. And I just love Santa,me…
Once again, the club who are “always cheated never defeated” have rolled out the quintessential statement, this time in the form of an official complaint about the officials on Sunday. Nope, not about the standside linesman’s unique interpretation of the laws of the game, not even about the general competence of the officials on the day. About one incident-a contentious one,I’ll grant you-which has snowballed into a list of petty grievances as long as your arm.
No mention, of course, of the many more reasons for Celtic supporters to be unhappy with the officials on the day. That, after all, is to be expected. Nope, one decision. Which in my opinion the officials got correct anyway! Early in extra time,Cerny picked up the ball near the corner of the box. A sharp turn inside took him away from Scalesy as both tussled each other for the ball. Jersey tugs on both sides, but there was a very obvious one by Scales. Which is where the argument begins.
Was Cerny inside the box at the time? Was his momentum taking him into the box? The answer to both is no. But that hasn’t stopped the hun tears-of rage and frustration at not winning-from flowing freely on every section of the media, and from every R2ngers fan you are stuck beside in the pub or workplace. There are even suggestions that Beaton has a history of poor decisions like this, but these have the merit of actually being true. Just that for once, his favoured team were on the thick end of one!
Yet I’ll repeat-it wasn’t a wrong decision. The tug was outside the area while he was travelling slightly away from the box as he tried to get the ball onto his left foot. Feeling the tug, he fell in the opposite direction. That isn’t a penalty, indeed a case can be made for a yellow card for simulation. Beaton didn’t think it was a penalty, and neither did Muir in VAR as he pored over every available angle.
However, this raises another question. Why did two officials with well-known affection for the Ibrox side not award the penalty this time, when previous experience tells us that they would have swallowed their whistle/remote control in their rush to do so? I hesitate to suggest that it is the work of the fabled Unseen Fenian Hand, but is there a larger “conspiracy” taking place here?
Let me wind you back to the beginning of last season. Beale was under the cosh after blowing the league. Suddenly the heavy flow of penalties in favour of R2ngers dried up. Bullet for Beale,in comes his Belgian equivalent-et voilà, normal service resumed! Is it likely that executives at the other SPL clubs, spooked and scunnered by those famous anomalies on the subject, dropped a line to Collum and his bosses about smartening up their act? Upon pain of many other past examples being revealed?
Fast forward to the beginning of this season. Again the flow of penalties have dried up. Sunday was far from the first occasion that officials have declined to give them the expected decision, the type of penalty that only they get, that we have all become so used to over the years. With Sunday being only the latest example.
I dunno, it’s only an idea. I genuinely haven’t a scooby about why Beaton and Muir went against every fibre of their being, against their every precedent, by ignoring it. But I suspect that there are more likely explanations than both being undercover Celtic supporters.

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.
Here is the link for the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, our new charity which we will support.
https://www.justgiving.com/page/sentinel-celts-1722588284471?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fsentinel-celts-1722588284471&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share
This drive has already raised approaching another £2000,so join in. The more, the merrier.
Default payment method seems to be ApplePay,which won’t suit everyone. There is an option on the page to change that to your preferred option.
The turn of Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust as beneficiary of our charity drive will end on December 31st,and we will begin fundraising for our next one on January 1st.
I’ll open the floor for nominations to all our kind-hearted readers as of now,and will announce the lucky recipient on December 27th,with donations from the 1st.
Just post your choice here, and I’ll count the backing as we go along. So if you agree with one nominee, signal your approval in a comment. It’s that simple.
My suggestion for our next nominated charity is
MacMillan Cancer Support.
Evening all!
My bro-in-law spent 6 and a half months in hospital earlier this year for a second round of cancer surgery which went horribly wrong. He’s home and recovering well, thank God.
Tomorrow I’m attending the funeral of my neighbour of 10 years, who became almost one of the family. He was admitted to hospital 8 weeks ago, with an undiagnosed kidney problem – he was found to be riddled with cancer, kidney, lung, blood vessels and shoulder – and died two weeks ago!
MacMillan for me!
I’ll spot for MacMillan too, Basturt of a disease which I was fortunate to get the all clear from this year, It’s a scary diagnosis to get, and more than likely affected everyone in some way.
Plus I’ll need to agree with McCaff sometime 😀
Aw….noo I feel bad for thinking bad things aboot ye, ASWGL!!! 😞
Nah..not really!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Had to delete that, jeez imagine that playing all day 🙂
TBH that mob at the bigotdome may insist on foreign refs for derby matches. Yes please 🙏
BMCUW
McMillan Cancer Support is a good shout.
Re the Ragin Rangers I put this to Celticbynumbers on blue-sky.
Alan do you think the Referee as A Service Propsal that failed to get enough support from Celtic shareholders to get on AGM agenda might be highjacked by the R2ngers whingers or too clever for them?
It would ironic if Rangers Supporters took up a proposal not enough Celtic supporters backed.
One hun I read wants the game restarted with them taking a penalty kick, and setting the clock at 94mins.
One news item I heard had people in fear of their lives while shopping at the weekend.
And with both sets of fans now convinced that the establishment is out to get them, are we not in danger of making Scottish football almost impossible to officiate?
If every decision causes a hysterical reaction, I know I wouldn’t want to attempt to referee one of those games.
Never thought I’d see the day the Huns would be so convinced that there’s some big conspiracy against them. Haven’t they gone from boasting about being the establishment club and flying flags with refs names on, to screaming bloody blue murder about being cheated every time they play us?
We’re heading into dangerous territory here, and as ever it’ll be some innocents who pay the price for all this anger and hatred building up.
This is still just a game of football …right?
Morning all,
McMillan Cancer Support gets my vote.
A worthy nominee 👍
Ps
Bobby, you have mail .
The magnitude of this whining and whinging is off the Scales!
The hoardes and their cheerleaders are full of sound and fury, signifying a lot.
It is behaviour of not only sore losers, but symptomatic of their loss of entitlement, with a very large dose of fear and loathing at what they have become. Second best.
They have been since Mark One died, but it is only sinking in now that Ra Peepul have feebly given way to their most hated enemy.
So we are back in Kűbler-Ross territory as denial has given way to anger again.
And Bhoy does it hurt.
Bobby
As you say, the foul ( such as it was) took place outside the box and ref blown as a foul – not a penalty.
End Of!
Then there are the numerous examples of inconsistent refereeing, in this one game alone.
Almost completely ignored.
Also seen various reports from dubious sources attributed to Scotsman & Record stating SFA/Collum now
agree it should have been a pen!
Expect this is all stuff & nonsense & guff.
Whit they like 🤭
9 ( record) Spurs Bookings v Chelsea EPL in 2016
“Spurs will receive an automatic fine for having six players or more yellow-carded”
(Ex Guardian)
“Chelsea vs Tottenham: Both clubs charged by FA with failing to control players after Spurs’ record nine bookings in derby”
Evening Standard
Note: Chelsea had 3 booked, but still changed by FA!
Hmmm
What might be the SFA/League equivalent ‘action’ for the rampaging thuggery witnessed at a showpiece (sic) Scottish League Cup Final?!
What odds on SFA…
This week’s pre-match press conferences should be interesting….I’m sure Brendan will be his typical diplomatic self. As for Valdemort….can’t wait for another addition to the Ministry of Funny Walks!!!!
Good morning, friends.
It’s the post-match concerted focus on that one incident that is interesting here. Very quickly, all of the SMSM have pedaled the line that “everyone agrees it was a penalty”, “I’ve not spoken to anyone who doesn’t think it’s a penalty” etc etc. Followed up by various written articles with wolly words “we believe that the sfa acknowledge a mistake….” etc.
There have already been a couple of monthly reviews by Willie Collum and the transparency has to be welcomed. In those reviews, they pick half a dozen incidents. Not because they were necessarily the most contentious during the previous month. But sometimes because they highlight specificity issues relating to the VAR process.
Possibly the most controversial one surrounded the Sevco St Johnstone game at Hampden when the Saints players seemed to stop expecting the referees whistle but ultimately Sevco’s goal stood.
VAR is certainly not foolproof. I still think theres a twist to come on this latest one where the explanation might be…
In the initial challenge, Scales actually kicked Cerny and THAT was the foul that Beaton blew for.
The Jersey tugging was being done by BOTH players so effectively it was ignored and therefore it doesn’t matter whether it was inside or outside the box.
We’ll see….
Interesting exercise… go through the team/ squad, player by player and ask yourself “keep or replace ?”
Obviously, in Merson speak a ‘top, top player’ being unavailable to our wages…
how many, just now, would you keep ?
We’ve got to cement this advantage.
“The whole plan was for me to try not to put myself in an awkward position where I could potentially tweak something but I had a weird slip about 10 minutes in and I knew right then that it was going to be a long game to get through.”
A quote from AJ in regard to his cup final appearance. I am not a doctor or a sports scientist but even I could see from the back of the east stand he was not fit and should not be playing. He said he didn’t want to miss out and whilst I appreciate his determination, sometimes players need protected from themselves. It also highlights that BR thinks that an unfit AJ is still a far better option than a fully fit Tony Ralston. I think it’s time we maybe considered an upgrade at right back. I like Ralston in that he’s whole hearted and I also think he’s capable of good crosses a lot of the time but he’s not pushing Johnstone in any way for a first team spot so maybe it’s time to move on. I also think he’s the type of player who needs to play every week to be at his maximum and that is not going to happen at Celtic.
According to the rags,Sevco are bracing themselves as 8 EPL clubs are after Igimane…..I think that’s his name…….here we go Moreloss Part 2,desperate to sell anyone and everything
Next 6 weeks will tell us everything.
Huge amount of work to do regarding developing the squad.
Gaps everywhere plus MF needs new tactics / set up / new responsibilities.
Complete defence required or at least a plan to take it forward.
All elements involved — new people / new responsibilities / individual coaching / better tactics.
One thing brewing in the background — what value do we put on home grown talent?
What value do we put on / should we put on “potential” at 18 and 19?
Potential to join the first team squad at these ages — what is their value in wages to us?
Potential to joining the first team squad at 20 / 21 after a loan deal?
Well worn path away from the club because various youth team players have been asking for “silly” money at this stage in their careers — are we the losers / are the players greedy / badly advised?
Mentioned on here / mentioned on KDS — huge issue so I think we need to prepare a plan / a pathway / an internal route to the first team.
Not a good look to lose players to the ECh.
What message does it send out to local talent if we cannot develop our own?
Should we pay 19 year olds with potential £5K pw / £10K pw?
What is “silly” money and why won’t we pay it?
What would we pay LM if he came?
Govan FC are just so last week.
Playing injured players who are marginal in their recovery — not a good look.
Suggests that we have a lot of work to do in January.
Complete defence required, Mitch?
😂😂😂
Not good!
ATOB
As you say , BR thinks playing an unfit AJ , is better than playing Ralston.
Ralston is a major downgrade from Johnston and I would say that it’s time for him to move on and be replaced by someone younger who will put Johnston under a bit of pressure.
I would like to see a few move out in January.
Palma, Yang, Holm, Welsh, Nawrocki and Taylor, as he’s obviously not signing a new contract.
Good read BMCUWP, thank you.
Thinking the same about the “penalty to Ranges” carry on seems to have ground to a halt.
TavPen has only scored the 2 goals in the Premiership this season,as a consequence of the lack of penalty kicks.
Both goals scored in their last two league games, from play.
Correlation.
Very, very strange.
Also their wage bill must be astronomical.
How can this be sustainable?
HH.🍀
Auldheid,
I surprised you haven’t heard of Celtic’s attempts to have an Under 23 side admitted to the professional league system? These attempts have been consistently blocked by clubs further down Scotland’s decaying league structures.
We all know that if it was not for Celtic and our supporters, the whole of the Scottish professional football league would have fallen into insolvency years ago.
There’s a multitude of links out there highlighting the efforts Celtic made.
Belgium has four Under 23 sides in their second highest professional league.
After two professional leagues the other leagues are amateur. All of which have Under 23 sides competing.
Demographics,
The Continuity Myth really was a cruel invention.
What’s really never been talked about is how Scotland’s bigoted institutions are literally expiring on a daily basis.
The death of Rangers the Club was the precursor of the expiration of much of what we know as the Scottish establishment.
The Sevco of today are a pale shadow of the auld days.
2.1 kids per female of children bearing years is required to sustain a population.
Glasgow is currently barely above 1. Edinburgh is even lower.
Those numbers are not returning to where they were.
It’s falling down around them.
Till later.
Complete defence — that is what we need.
Some as starters and some as spares.
See Sunday for evidence.
Eg:
Spare RB
Starting CB
Spare CB
Starting LB

Govan FC — who are they paying the big money to?
Who do they have in their team that would cost so much?
Stories about Rabbi Matondo being the highest paid player in Govan.
Strange given that he was given a game in the Glasgow Cup final this week.
Govan FC — what is their wage bill?
£60mill as their bonus costs are very low.
Win nothing — pay nothing.
Ludge Media have saved Ludge MIB but thrown Ludge VAR under the bus.
I wonder if we will get the full match audio of the incident?
BADABING 1044
Fortunately for the huns, there are only 31 shopping days in January. So in little over six weeks time, they can celebrate the retention-against all the odds!-of their newest shooting star.
We’ve all seen shooting stars in our time. Their existence is so fleeting that you are allowed to make a wish when you see one!
LiT: Jobo puts up details after each game on played, won, drawn and lost which is the factual record of results.
How you can denigrate our manager and players on constant, never mind occasional, basis is unbelievable when you look at our season so far.
When I started going to games it was eight years before we won anything.
Going by your perception I should have slit my throat.
Never a Tim, LiT.
Mitch,
So, you really ain’t ever going to address me by using my name, eh?
A wee bit petty, no?
As long as you’re happy.

Why on this occasion when they’ve always refused before?
The latest VAR review. A very educational 25 minute programme. Honestly. Even if I do still disagree with the first clip chosen.

Surely not — not again …
What is it for this time?

Check your filters — bit clogged.
Love how the next month of games is only a hinderence to Celtic but not the Huns, Sheep, Killie, Dundee etc. .
Every single team is going to struggle and drop points during this “Ultra marathon”. I’d be shocked if Celtic were not still 11 points clear or more come Feb.
Just in time for Christmas, Sevco releasing a DVD of Meadowlark Goldson’s non penalty handballs, a full 90 minute edit available…buy now while pop up shop lasts.

Gollum has spoken, unacceptable!
From the Hootsman:
‘Alan Muir and assistant Frank Connor – have not been assigned a William Hill Premiership fixture this weekend having been stood down as a result of the oversight.’
We’re never going to hear the end of this.
Perhaps the penalty season was just a bit too blatant (and all for nothing) and brought too much attention to the way referees behave so they’ve had to rein it in a bit.
Record is running with a transcript of the relevant chit chat.
Is the actual audio available anywhere — trust is missing in all of this.
Also what is an “APP”?
SLC last season vs Killie.
Who was on VAR duties that day?
They missed a more blatant penalty.
Were they pulled from duties for a week?
I think APP I to donate the start of a new attacking phase. The point that’d go back to each time if goal is scored. Like a reset something.
this monthly sermon from Collum is a sham. The wee puppet from Clyde 1 doesn’t ask about any incidents during the month,Gollum gives a few examples and that’s it.The Kyogo ‘offside ‘ goal in August v the huns was never discussed, but was a hot topic at the time.Looks like a press conference from The Cardigan back in the day, when the Laptop Loyal were given a proscribed list of questions to stick to,it achieves nothing.
LIT,
No point going back to last season. Collum has only been in post since the start of this season and he was clear there would be more transparency. I appreciate what he is doing and having such public scrutiny is ensuring that referees are held accountable. It is bound to make them more wary about making mistakes and magicing up penalties. I think that caution has cost the Huns a legitimate penalty. The converse side of that is that we will not get decisions like killie in the league cup last season happening again. I believe if Allan muir thought he could get away with a dubious penalty for the Huns he’d have given it. He’s got form for that and for closing his eyes when he’s two yards from a penalty for Celtic. If these guys want to keep picking up the extra £400 a week to be involved in refereeing they’re going to need to be honest. That’s what this was, an honest mistake. I should caveat that if it was a Celtic player I’d be going tonto 😂😂
MM
Naw,they’re fine. But thanks for your concern.
So just the one questionable decision in the LCF then? Funny, I reckoned there were about a dozen – that all went against us.
I must say I disagreed with WC about the last 2 incidents wrongly not being red cards. If these are to be given we’ll be playing 5 a side by the end of the season.
Mind you, it would severely limit that wee shite Devlin at Hearts from running around trying to crock opponents.
BTW the tackle from behind on Kuhn by the hun LB was worse than both incidents shown.
LIT
APP is attacking phase of play. There’s an real irony there of you asking people to explain what initials mean!
Killie comment / last season — just interested in who was doing VAR.
Possible irony off the scale.
APP — thanks.
Initialisation tuned up to 11.
I can give it but seemingly I can’t take it.
Point taken …
Does the MIB get a running commentary over VAR?
Two people refereeing the game at the same time?
