Jute, Jam, And Sanity?

Morning,all.

It’s time for the traditional clash of the cities as the two team from Glasgow face off against the two from Dundee. We return at High Noon on Sunday at Tannadice, a place I’ve usually enjoyed visiting. Not a bad day out,Dundee. But I never thought I’d be looking forward to visiting there in order to get back to some much-needed sanity.

I can’t really say that Scottish football has finally lost its marbles, but only because I came to that conclusion a long bloody time ago. However, there is certainly a case for saying that it might even have surpassed itself for sheer unabated lunacy over the last five days. The decision by Collum to issue the monthly VAR review on only the nineteenth day is certainly something novel, but the contents were truly astonishing. And in contravention of the facts of the matter, some of which I mentioned in yesterday‘s article and which were of prime importance in the onfield and VAR decisions on the day.

It’s pointless really to repeat it all here as it was discussed at great length yesterday by your good selves. But Collum (and Maxwell, if as we suspect, it was him pulling the strings and applying the screw) have not only set a precedent here, they have also made a rod for their own backs. Every club will now expect any complaint of their own to be accorded the same red-carpet welcome and the same mental gymnastics required to arrive at a required decision. And the inevitable outcome will, eventually, be to see a game replayed. From the point that the “wrong” decision was made too, not from the start. Unless the plaintiff so requests. In other words, if they’re getting gubbed 4-0, match replay. If it’s 1-1 with two minutes to go, game restarted at 1-1 and a penalty with two minutes to go.

See how easy it is to make even the most crazy idea crazier still? There is a good reason that one of the most fundamental laws of the game is that the referee’s decision is final. The laws may have been tinkered with over the years since 1863, but they are still recognisable. Anyway, enough. Except to say that I hope Dundee give them a bloody hammering tomorrow, just to see how Clement tries to wriggle his way out of that.

Dundee United it is, and while I hope to see the return of a 100% fit AJ on Sunday, I also hope it has been made 100% clear to him-and to the rest of the squad-that you don’t miss training since the last game and then tell the manager on the morning of the next game that you are fit to play. That was a bloody ridiculous decision, and if in fact it was made by the manager, then it is even more ridiculous still.

We have had a fantastic season so far in so many ways. And that includes how we have so far avoided the rash of injuries which have concerned us for a number of years now. It makes no sense to start inviting them now, even less to cause them by our own rash decision-making. Let’s put that down as a hard lesson learned and not to be repeated, thank you very much.

As ever, I will approach the weekend hoping for an increase in our healthy lead. I will now add to that every week by hoping that Aberdeen win-except when they play us,of course! Hey,it’s Christmas week, and I don’t think that’s asking for too much. Not really. I mean, you should have seen my Christmas wish-list when I was a wean!!!

Making up stuff is even worse.

No mention from me of BR doing or saying anything untoward.

All in people’s head rather than reality.

He does what he needs to do to take us forward — the issue is that the club expect him to do it / the way we seemingly work.

Base point remains — what about the views of the other shareholders who own the other 70%?

Will they get asked?
Do they even know what was discussed?

Why should Celtic let us know the detail when folk will say it’s not good and plant that idea without evidence to back it up?

Get real since you bring reality up.

As regards shareholders being asked.

The mechanism for doing so is via the AGM yet you deride efforts by myself and others on basis nothing said in response by Celtic is credible and the effort made at causing change that you have never made is a waste of time without any understanding of what REALLY took place.

So don’t give me no one asked questions when not enough shareholders were interested enough to support the Referee Service proposal or is that DD’s fault too?

Suggesting I make things up is rich coming from you.

Barrowfield — looks good / big step forward for the club but …

Who signed off a metal fence that close to the pitch — absolutely mental and then some.

Run off distances — very tight to the point of being dangerous.

Do the insurers know?

At some point we need to start employing grown ups.

Hope you two have a very merry Christmas and a belter of a new year.

You brought back a lot of memories with your cooking today, I haven’t had stovies since my mum and dad were here.

Good news indeed.

But stovies has to be lamb or mutton based, nothing else is acceptable. Sorry.

Also scouse is from the Baltic, not Ireland. It was brought to Merseyside by seafarers.

OMG — phasers set to double malky.

Stovies — mince and potatoes slices.
The more you stirred it the more the potatoes broke up.

Left over boiled potatoes sliced and added to the leftover mince.

Carrots — no chance / Kiltoon was on 5 a year back in the 70’s / 80’s.

And one of them was sprouts for Christmas.

Posh was doughballs in the mince on the first day.

Bada,

How would the Huns explain away the fact that 100% of Celtic fans agree with them on bringing in outside refs?

Surely it we were being favoured in any way we wouldn’t be interested in changing the current set-up?

Even their moronic element must find that at least curious.

But then again …

I called it straight regarding stovies in the free North aka Kiltoon.
Stovies in the occupied south aka the Holy City …
I cannot / would not offer any opinion.

The culinary habits of any village with a “Middle Corner” / drove the Home Guard to distraction regarding trench design / had a ladies football team called the “Barbegs High Kickers” is way above my pay grade.

Plus my aunt worked in M&S so it was always the best of gear in her house on the Coronation Row.
Crap trainers though — not happy when I said even Gola were better than St Michael.

====
I don’t persist with the idea DD is not the de factor owner because he only needs enough shareholders on the Board to support him to make him the de facto owner.

If we are playing arithmetic we need to consider other reasonable possibilities.

What others argue is down to them.

What I observe from DDs statements is he has the same disdain for supporters who criticise him as they have for him.

I have letter from him where a Membership Scheme was proposed that shows his surprise such a well thought out proposal could come from the supporter base he thought not capable of such.

I like to think Res12 changed his mind about the intellectual capacity of Celtic supporters.

BAD et al.

I think my mammy just called it ‘stew’ – ‘Irish Stew’ was a different thing I think though- and she definitely went for lamb/mutton. Onion in there too. Carrot and potato compulsory. Sausages were an optional rather than integral component but always welcome. Less popular was the introduction of baby turnips – good for us we were told. Sometimes we got boiled totties as a side dish in addition to those in the actual dish proper. Think she preferred Bisto to Oxo but both were always in stock. Food of the gods whatever you called it. I even came to tolerate the turnip.

You can’t make stovies in a pot

what are we trying to pass off as stovies here

Has to be in a closed casserole dish and on all day!

The gravy needs lots of time to soften the steak and potatoes.

The meat has to be on the verge of falling apart.

And the totties have to be soft and soaked in the Gravy juices

Fuck, now I want stovies!
