Jute, Jam, And Sanity?
Morning,all.
It’s time for the traditional clash of the cities as the two team from Glasgow face off against the two from Dundee. We return at High Noon on Sunday at Tannadice, a place I’ve usually enjoyed visiting. Not a bad day out,Dundee. But I never thought I’d be looking forward to visiting there in order to get back to some much-needed sanity.
I can’t really say that Scottish football has finally lost its marbles, but only because I came to that conclusion a long bloody time ago. However, there is certainly a case for saying that it might even have surpassed itself for sheer unabated lunacy over the last five days. The decision by Collum to issue the monthly VAR review on only the nineteenth day is certainly something novel, but the contents were truly astonishing. And in contravention of the facts of the matter, some of which I mentioned in yesterday‘s article and which were of prime importance in the onfield and VAR decisions on the day.
It’s pointless really to repeat it all here as it was discussed at great length yesterday by your good selves. But Collum (and Maxwell, if as we suspect, it was him pulling the strings and applying the screw) have not only set a precedent here, they have also made a rod for their own backs. Every club will now expect any complaint of their own to be accorded the same red-carpet welcome and the same mental gymnastics required to arrive at a required decision. And the inevitable outcome will, eventually, be to see a game replayed. From the point that the “wrong” decision was made too, not from the start. Unless the plaintiff so requests. In other words, if they’re getting gubbed 4-0, match replay. If it’s 1-1 with two minutes to go, game restarted at 1-1 and a penalty with two minutes to go.
See how easy it is to make even the most crazy idea crazier still? There is a good reason that one of the most fundamental laws of the game is that the referee’s decision is final. The laws may have been tinkered with over the years since 1863, but they are still recognisable. Anyway, enough. Except to say that I hope Dundee give them a bloody hammering tomorrow, just to see how Clement tries to wriggle his way out of that.
Dundee United it is, and while I hope to see the return of a 100% fit AJ on Sunday, I also hope it has been made 100% clear to him-and to the rest of the squad-that you don’t miss training since the last game and then tell the manager on the morning of the next game that you are fit to play. That was a bloody ridiculous decision, and if in fact it was made by the manager, then it is even more ridiculous still.
We have had a fantastic season so far in so many ways. And that includes how we have so far avoided the rash of injuries which have concerned us for a number of years now. It makes no sense to start inviting them now, even less to cause them by our own rash decision-making. Let’s put that down as a hard lesson learned and not to be repeated, thank you very much.
As ever, I will approach the weekend hoping for an increase in our healthy lead. I will now add to that every week by hoping that Aberdeen win-except when they play us,of course! Hey,it’s Christmas week, and I don’t think that’s asking for too much. Not really. I mean, you should have seen my Christmas wish-list when I was a wean!!!

Here is the most contentious question…….square sausages or links 🤔🤔
Jim,
Think mum liked making stovies cause you prepare it in 5-10mins, and then you can forget about it and get on with all the other stuff she was doing while working and trying to feed 4 kids.
I don’t remember ever having onion in it either, but I do remember sometimes there were garden peas along with carrots, that’s about as exotic as I liked mine.
PB,
Gotta be links.
just to make a point, im a lapsed roman catholic, but when wee joan was at her lowest ebb, I got an e-mail from MCAFF, he told me one of his relatives who was ill used to pray to padre pio, so started to go to mass after many many years, and prayed to Padre pio ,now if those prayers were the result of wee Joan getting better I dont know, but MCAFF if your lurking thanks buddy.H.H ❤❤
I said hello to BP at 6:52, and it is now 7:25 and he hasnt said hello back!
If BP doesnt say hello in 15 minutes, I am leaving this site and I’m not coming back!
and Seamus will bite his ass if he ever darkens my doorstep!
🙂

Peas? Oddly enough I am sure when I was presented with something called ‘scouse’ there were peas in it. It all went down a storm. Mince and Totties were in a metal pot but, stew/stovies was something in the oven that was always the superior dish. Even if M & T was what we had on 25/5/67.
Jimbo
My stovies….par boil tatties 10 minutes;airfry onion and link sausages 10 minutes, then to the main event…into the pot; beef stock 400ml; 1/2 tin or full of baked beans then add the two prep ingredients above.
And to the essential part….all of this must be done while drinking a can of 🍺 or Guinness 🙃
ps my madras was excellent 👌
BIGPACKY.
Fantastic news about Joan. Absolutely chuffed for you both.
MIKE apologies buddy never saw your post, you know id never ever not reply to you and seamus ,well maybe to you, not to seamus 😎😎the pack and wee Joan say hello uncle mike👍❤❤❤
Jimbo,
I also liked buttered bread with mine, cause the gravy just screamed dip bread in me.
I always associate stovies with being with the whole family and being a kid.
you always felt like you were waiting for the stovies to be ready, and various members of the family had asked multiple times when it would be ready 😊
BOBBY, cheers pal there is a long road ahead, but with friends like you and your dad and sisters it makes it a lot easier👍❤❤❤
PB,
Gonny stoap sayin beans and stovies in the same post, I plan on having stovies again at some point 😂
Lovely afternoon in the Shipbank.
Quite emotional when we all stood up to toast Tony ( SFTB)
RIP Tony 🙏 🙏 💚 💚
FFS wish id never mentioned stovies now😎😎😎😎 but remember my late mum puting a mothers pride loaf on the table and cutting it ,now that was a square loaf, not the shit we have down here in englandshire feckin pan breed😎😎
BAD
I am sure my mammy disapproved of us using bread – buttered or otherwise- until we got to the end when it was used as part of a gravy mop up operation. Although sometimes we just sooked it up.
Jimbo
If we got Tierney and Jota back in January I’d consider the window a great success
B.A.D
Jota would have to be after March 2025 or he’d be hit with a massive tax bill
Craig,
We are worth it 😊
Killie v Motherwell Premier Sports
B.A.D
Very true, but his accountant might think otherwise, would love to see him in the Hoops again terrorising defenders
Craig,
they would be two fantastic additions to the squad.
Big Packy
Fantastic news. 💚 to Joan. Massive hangover incoming tomorrow, after a wee session in the Shipbank. 😁

Just looking back in, and I’m so happy to hear the good news about wee Joan. Give her a hug from me.

Im not saying that the PLC are naive or apprehensive about anything in Scottish football that they keep stuchm out of any kind of retribution. I am of the opinion that the PLC will risk the careers of young footballers from hun inflicted injuries because their long term vision is and always has been Old Firm.
SOL cheers pal, consider it done👍❤
The coronation cup

MAGS are you trying to tell me that scottish football has a bunch of orange freemason bassas at the helm, dont believe it😎😎😎
Big Packy
The bread in the US is so poisonous from GMO bleached wheat flour that I pine for Mother’s Pride. Is it still around? I dont remember seeing it lately.
Congrats to you and Joan
The best of health to all us geriatric old Tims this time of year.
Bada
Very true, all the horde’s just assumed they’d score
Really surprised to see Motherwell – Kilmarnock on Paramount. Away team with 65% possession, but 1-0 down. The refereeing is simply appalling. Utter incompetence.
Leipzig being crushed by Bayern 5-1 with 10 minutes to go.
BP 9.08pm
whatever gave you that idea?
😀😀😀
IQV4
Paramount?
thanks for the heads up
off to watch it
BAD you trying to show my age, the coronation cup was the year I was born😎😎❤❤
MAGS just a hunch😎😎😎😎
Good evening friends, pedantic Jobo here.
Some clubs have “majority shareholders”. That is ehete one individual holds more than 50% of the issued shate capital Such clubs are completely at the mercy of such an owner. I can think of one such former Glasgow club.
Every other club will have a ‘majority shareholder’. He’s the guy or gal who holds more shares than anyone else, but not the 50% to railroad through everything that he wants.
Dermot holds about 30% of Celtic’s shares. He clearly has a BIG influence on Celtic’s strategy and direction. But,like a minority government, his ideas need the support of others to get adopted.
Just sayin’ like…
Motherwell v Kilmarnock
1-1
then a red card for Casey
never a red
Scottish commentary
“ too many peepil in the keepers road”
Scottish refereeing is so fuckin pish except when it’s penalty to Rangers
Don’t know how the ref figures that was a red card. Ludicrous.
That will not stand on appeal.
Referee is called Chris Graham. He’s is incompetent. End of.
Bayern just thrashed Leipzig 5-1,yet Leipzig didn’t play badly! Stunning display and a terrific game. Had to miss Killie v Motherwell for it though, which was a really difficult call.
IQV4
Aye. Total shite.
