Tangerine Time
Well folks, it looks like the footballing God’s have blessed us with another opportunity to find form ahead of the much desired Cup Final replay (what are they like?) and like last weekend this one is also away from Paradise with a pretty decent opponent who cannot be overlooked.
Thankfully the winning finalists won’t face extra time, nor penalties, and they had midweek free which resulted in some frolics and one imagines a bit of team bonding. I wonder if they will have a spring in their step. We all know what the manager got up to,,sorting out the January spend, and I wonder if this alongside a Cup will put a spring in his step.
Alas, the weather will not lend itself to a game of finesse, quite the opposite, and I wonder if that suits our opponents? United could take heart we just conceded 3, shouldn’t be able play the usual game, and there’s known injuries, AJ and James.
They could find some hope but ironically I would suggest Celtic have a lot of tools in their locker for a poor conditions/just win it tricky fixture. Ralston might have started anyway, the Canadian does need the occasional rest and the native would love an old fashioned crossing frenzy in the rain. Crossing to Adam, it’s much more his type of game than Kyogos.
We couldn’t pass well on a wet surface not long ago, I’d like to see a more direct style of play, and three midfielders who can test the keeper from range.
Callum, Luke, Reo all with license to shoot?
I’m not too bothered by the other selections, but with the annual injury to James the right wing position looks weak and we could do a lot worse than having Kuhns understudy signed. I’ve a nagging memory of Palma playing decent and scoring in the rain somewhere/sometime, perhaps he is in for a shot on the right taking over from Nicholas after he’s ran his race? Wouldn’t surprise me. Who is actually considered the backup right wing player will emerge as the German can’t play every single minute.
I like to imagine there will be no Cup hangover, team quality and good vibes will carry us through and deliver the 3 points,,and as much as I’ve banged on about form recently, I am not demanding it from this fixture. Winning ugly would be perfectly fine, it would actually reassure me.
As for the opposition, everyone involved should be delighted with their current position, not only 5th but looking like an SPL regular already. I really want to see a full-house and given the timeslot I was almost going to type there’s no excuses,,,but in reality there’s the biggest excuse of all. Christmas being three days away means any gift tickets can’t be handed out yet, means the belt must be tightened for a hell of a lot, and it’s dreich weather to boot. I know The Tims will be there and inevitably get topless belting out their own version of Merry Christmas to the supporters of last week’s eventually beaten foe. When you see that, Santa really is coming, that’s his cue.

As you will all know, the site finally nominated a charity to be the recipient of the generosity and largesse of yourselves, and I think you all deserve huge applause for raising just short of £2k.
⭐️👏☘️👍🍾
That period has passed, and a new charity has been chosen to take us through to the end of the year. A landslide vote in favour of
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.
Once again,CHALMERSBHOY has done the spadework via JustGiving.
Here is the link for the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, our new charity which we will support.

The turn of Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust as beneficiary of our charity drive will end on December 31st,and we will begin fundraising for our next one on January 1st.
I’ll open the floor for nominations to all our kind-hearted readers as of now,and will announce the lucky recipient on December 27th,with donations from the 1st.
Just post your choice here, and I’ll count the backing as we go along. So if you agree with a particular nominee, signal your approval in a comment. It’s that simple.

In addition to the nominated treble (see above) there is also a weekly 6-team acca. Each of us is looking for a nailed on certainty, but there’s no such thing! But we only make one selection each, and all we ask is…
If yer daft enough to follow our advice, put a quid on each for the nominated charity as well!
The current drive got a £400 boost from this a couple of weeks back,so we are hoping to build on that.
Go on,folks. A quid? What are you waiting for?
A few more direct free kick goals from Englandshire from 2 years ago.
Every one a belter. Simply unstoppable.
Enjoy.😊

you are being disingenuous again and disrespectful this time.
I never want Celtic to lose
The issue here is the motivation of the PLC and I think you’ve got that wrong
====
Are you not being disrespectful calling me disingenuous?
I set out my Occams Razor reasoning based on where most money is to be made but without throwing Rangers over the edge without causing financial damage to other clubs.
What is your reasoning based on?
DD loves Rangers?
i had heard a rumour about ex Celtic manager, Ronny Delia, coming to TO, but now hearing he has joined Atlanta instead.
Blowing an absolute gale in the east end this morning.
Must be hard for anyone fancying themselves as challengers to our crown👑, the fact that we aren’t even playing at 60% of our real potential.
Not that I care that much, given we have faced every other team at least once and we’ve still only conceded 4 league goals in 15 unbeaten (That must be some kind of record)
If this is us not performing well …😳

Evening all
Before I slope off to bed.
An entity- be it an indivdual, a group of individuals acting in concert, a company or whatever- that owns 30% or more of the voting shares in a company is said to hold a CONTROLLING INTEREST in that company. Defeating an entity which holds a controlling interest in any shareholder vote is very difficult to achieve – and in Celtic’s case impossible if the 2nd biggest shareholder votes with the biggest. I am not sure I like that but it’s the way things are.
———-
Just caught up on this from last night.
75% is the critical point for company shares. If 75% of the shares vote for a Special
Resolution such as selling out to another company the business will be sold. The 25% that didn’t want it can’t do anything to stop it.
In share valuation terms DD owns an “Influential Minority”. Although he owns less than 50% he has more than 25% so can influence company decisions. Without his vote the 75% bench mark can’t be reached.
CCB,
He would have tried to convince you that we were actually rotten that day in Lisbon v Inter, and the line-up was all wrong …would have also reminded you a dozen times that Suarez wasn’t playing for Milan.
He would then have spent a week decrying our achievement and tell you the players looked scared fartless, all the while stating multiple times that we only faced one good team in the European cup! Spending on new players for 1968 would get brought up on a daily basis, plus Jock Stein would be accused of over/under-coaching the players and no way was Bobby Murdoch a midfielder 🤪
That would be nothing compared his take on the 1970 final 😄
Dermot Desmond’s middle name is Fachtna 🤔
Frodshambhoy
I had posted in response to a post from Jobo and took the figure from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) website which states 30% is a ‘controlling interest’.
I think that many entities restrict their holding to 29.9% as they do not wish to be seen as holding a controlling interest- in the past at least entities which held 30% plus of the voting shares were obliged to bid to buy all the shares.
I have not worked in corporate banking in 30 years or more so a bit rusty on all that but the ‘controlling interest’ term means the same as it did in my day. I think people have a tendency to use ‘controlling interest’ and ‘majority shareholding’ synonymously but they are not synonyms

agreed. Any win will do. It’s that time of year. Weather conditions fatigue etc doesn’t always make for silky football. We dropped a wheen of points in December last year.
There’s always games like that in a season.
I think we could be vulnerable tomorrow. Brendan mentioned the couple of injuries and ‘various illnesses’ in the squad this week.
So aye any 3 points will do and let’s not moan about ‘how poor ‘ we played to get them
I’m in agreement with the rest of the blog that we won’t be watching a feast of football tomorrow. The weather and more changes will see to that.
In regard to LIT, let’s be honest he is right in his assessment that we have not been playing well since the semi final v Aberdeen. There are a myriad of reasons but factually he is not wrong. Play the ball, not the man troops.
Last season we dropped points during those games that we weren’t playing great.
At no point this season have we looked like losing in league games, even games recently that we struggled to find our best form.
Our record of losing only 4 league goals after playing 15 games is quite incredible!
Until they start awarding extra points for style, I won’t pay a great deal of attention to how we came about gaining our points tally, especially in the league where all that matters is your final points tally.
We beat a Bundesliga side 3-1, days after the semi-final.
Defeated Hertz,in their own midden, less than a month ago – second half performance was scintillating.
5 up against Ross County at half time,a mere there weeks ago.
The Aberdeen game was the closest to perfection that I’ve ever seen, and yes this should be the benchmark, however it’s totally unrealistic to expect that level of performance in every game.
Foolish, and unfair to compare/judge every other display to that one, because it’s possible we won’t ever see a better standard.
To suggest that we haven’t played well since simply isn’t true.

16 roads,
Exactly.
Been saying it for years now.
Celtic either dazzle and score 5 worldies each week and never concede a single goal (Or even make a defensive error) if all of that doesn’t happen , the narrative inevitably becomes our form is terrible and a real worry, even though we are yet to lose a single game, and haven’t lost 1 in nearly 10 months!!
We have become so dominant these days that we barely get any credit for winning every single time we play (We won 3-0? Aye but Hibs kept shooting at our goal !) I’d he willing to bet that we have as high a win % as you will find anywhere in any league, but we have become obsessed with league form rather than league points.
If we were dropping points every second week I too would be moaning , but we seem so strong that we are winning while not being at our usual standards.
Repeat something often enough.
Since the last NT break we have been pretty lumpy regarding form.
Some good patches but overall pretty poor.
A Hibbee shredded defence is not a good look.
Three goals lost against Govan FC is poor.
A boot up a few erses is required.
Plus don’t play half fit players — that will also help.
If you have to play half fit players then fix the squad the next time you can.
Jimbo
Thanks for the info.
I think it’s just a terminology thing.
I did a lot of share valuation work in my time and often battled with HMRC Share Valuation Division over tax valuations.
Influential or Non Influential terms were used for holdings under 50% with 25% being the influential point.
No matter what we call it DD is in control.

Craig,
See when Barry Ferguson decided to stand in for Stefan Klos without actually going in goals, I don’t remember a week full of talk about hands being in a natural position.
that’s the most blatant hand ball (Two hands) that you will ever see getting ignored!
Morning all again
Opinions on our form since the League Cup semi-final are just that , opinions- for what its worth I think we played poorly for too much of the game at Rugby Park and all of the Hibs game for me to ignore. I also thought that against Dinamo Zagreb we played far too timidly against a team which was much worse than I know I expected them to be. I did think we played better at Pittodrie than others seem to have and although only seeing the match after the event is not always the best way to assess things I did not think we played badly last Sunday. Bruges and in truth Rangers have been the best teams we’ve played since Dortmund- both better than we hoped and expected them to be. Opposing teams are pesky things.
I would like Celtic to be as good as we were versus Aberdeen on 2 Nov in every game but do not think if we do not hit that level for every minute of every game that we have played badly – as others, and not just Mad Mitch/Lost in Translation, seem to. Reading things here early in the week and after almost every game in the last month you would think we have team almost devoid of talent.
I have been a regular attender of Celtic games since I was first taken to a game almost 57 years ago and, trust me, that great team was far from great every time I went- there were plenty of days when the best that could be said ‘well at least we won’ back then . The current team is unlikely to scale the heights of the squad of my childhood and adolescence but there have been, for me, encouraging signs that it may become one of our better teams since about 1972. The next few weeks probably won’t be pretty – but they may well be crucial in determining how good this team really is and will become. I am cautiously optomistic
Frodshamboy
Exactly re DD – nothing will change without his say so. Not ideal but we are stuck with it.
Now I must go out. Jeez it looks foul.
Jimbo
Well said BAD.
CCB only posted the other night that he’d been watching Celtic for eight years before he seen us win a trophy!!
Kind of put things into perspective.

Are we going to get belated Xmas pressies or is it just footy jurnos putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 5? Imminent return of KT & Jota – Yes please Santa😮
PS One caveat for the return of Jota would have to be a ‘NO MULLET & DENIMS’ clause in the contract.
16 roads,
In almost every year between 88 and 98 we actually could be very pleasing on the eye – and at times were brilliant to watch – but we barely won a trophy for all our efforts.
Think I’ve been determined since then that I’d rather pay more attention to wether or not we are winning. Like last week at the final whistle, I don’t remember caring a bit how we arrived at the final result.

==============
Correct there are a myriad of reasons but who knows what they are for certain?
No one , not me, you, LIT or any poster, so when a reason is given that does not align with other evidence to the contrary its not playing the man to refer to it its about providing balance.
It would help if LIT stopped sticking labels on others like “excuse makers” when a challenge is made to his opinions. That is simply avoidance of the other view lest it contains ideas that might cause LIT to change his mind.
The exchanges that cause more heat than light are debate not dialogue:-
Dialogue is a conversation on a common subject between two or more persons with differing views, the primary purpose of which is for each participant to learn from the other so that s/he can change and grow. This very definition of dialogue embodies the first commandment of dialogue.
If we approach another party to either defeat them or to learn about them so as to deal more effectively with her or him, or at best to negotiate with him or her. If we face each other at all in confrontation–sometimes more openly polemically, sometimes more subtly so, but always with the ultimate goal of defeating the other, because we are convinced that we alone have the absolute truth we are indulging in debate and not dialogue.
But dialogue is not debate. In dialogue each party must listen to the other as openly and sympathetically as s/he can in an attempt to understand the other’s position as precisely and, as it were, as much from within, as possible. Such an attitude automatically includes the assumption that at any point we might find the other party’s position so persuasive that, if we would act with integrity, we would have to change, and change can be disturbing.
LIT avoids dialogue when he lables other contributors.
One of the myriad reasons for reduction in form could be improvement of form by the opposition, but that is no excuse to some.
We are the mighty Glasgow Celtic whose players should overcome all opposition the minute they pull on the hooped jersey.
Its called competition that produces the kind of exciting game last Sunday.
We all love certainty but we live in an uncertain world that can bite us on the bum when least expected.

Good question.
I post when he makes judgements about other posters who do not agree with his views and lables them or makes claims of disharmony or puts a negative meaning on BR meeting DD with MN and CMcK.
It is just as easy to put a positive spin on it but LIT never does.
I think he does it to get attention and in replying I am guilty of giving him that attention, but in general terms I see him as a barrier to creating a more harmonious relationship between the custodians and the supporters and a mistake I might be making is that supporters are less keen on harmony and its benefits than I am.
PS my replies are read by others (which is why I mentioned dialgue) who can make up their own minds about the exchanges.

<I> “ Oor Baw – Alex “
We can read about him, in Sir Alex’s book, where he gives an insight into the mind of the linesman. The standside referee’s assistant last Sunday was surely a descendant of Oor Baw. Somebody’s gonna get hurt if Rainjurz don’t get a penalty sometime soon, Philippe’s gone from zero to hero, the victim who’ll never recover even though he’s a tactical genius, masterclassing all along. The poor man’s even caught Rangersitis and is speaking the same pigeon English,- it’s a blue doo right enough.
SMSM have attempted to controversialise a Celtic Cup win in a ‘penalty’ ’debate that actually began when they went eleven points behind in the big prize. Monday morning was a realisation that the wee League Cup was a ‘ let’s have a look at what you could have won.’ moment. A penalty debate, when they marched into Merchant City straight past Celtic bars without even looking – didn’t they?. In the aftermath SMSM led with same old ‘ old firm ‘ what are they like stories ‘ by Monday evening, having whipped themselves into frenzy, they were on the penalty trail.
Celtic supporters labouring under the misapprehension that VAR would be a good leveller, need only have short term memory loss, or just missed Yang’s life threatening‘ high boot ‘ at Tynecastle or Fabio Silva’s Polaris penalty at IBrokes, good deeds, and all Hamdump’s work. Ironically, in its very first outing VAR patched a Celtic stonewaller at Tynecastle?
We don’t require any ‘outside the box thinking’ teething troubles’ don’t last for years, it just seems that way to us, by midweek it was corruption, and officials who need to ‘ confess ’. Maybe it would be safer if we just gifted the three points for January 2nd we can afford it, Did they ever carry out the safety work measures that allows away supporters, I hope not.
‘ Boots on the ground ‘ in Merchant City, but the real enemy up for £100M soft loaning to get to a VAR injustice, that’s as non existent as,……… Schh you know.
