The never ending story
Cor blimey that was a Rollercoaster of a Cup tie, but we march onwards and hopefully upwards. Aim achieved, let’s hope Wednesday brings more of the same.
I’m increasingly of the opinion Celtic need a jolt, like the one last January delivered,,a few fresh faces and more competition for starting berths. But a jolt can arrive in other ways, kudos to the poster who remarked we are as likely to get a doing than hand one out.
Our reaction since Dortmund, our reaction since Ibrox, has been professional, stinging defeats did not derail us and we responded to defeat with subsequent victories. I like what I see as far as team unity goes, I like the fact they celebrate heavily as a group, and I admire the fact this bunch truly tend to turn up when needed, those Champions League points and commanding lead, the Cup, none of those came easy but were earned out on the field of play.
Well, they’ve earned a spot in the 5th round, earned the right to be in contention to go through in Europe.
By supporting our club you’ve earned the right to experience this colossal week and the highs and lows it might deliver, to witness a part of our history being written live.
Kilmarnock are now in the past, and history will record a home win, but there was much more to the story. We write our own story some bloke once said, the latest chapter was certainly fascinating, and we are approaching the stage were the grand plot is unveiled, either genuine heroes or valiant contenders shall emerge, our season to date is one hell of a page-turner. As the page slowly turns to the next, perhaps the defining chapter as the bigger picture gets laid out, I await with giddy anticipation. Sign of a good story.
We are very fortunate in that regard, to follow a team that gives us glory and plenty to talk about, to follow a club that has a history that would make you cry and has put itself into the position to rise up the football pyramid through wholly legitimate means. It’s taken many steps including the slow lane, the old one step back for two or three steps forward routine worked out,,from spending a fiver to be met with a tenner spent elsewhere,,from Koki Mizuno to Arne Engels on the sliding ladder of quality,,what a journey it’s been to reach this point.
We took a step of that journey at the weekend, on Wednesday we can take a giant stride.

*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2024-25*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #34 CELTIC KILMARNOCK ()*
Good evening, friends.
So, the good guys progress to the 5th round in a game where we had loads of opportunities to win convincingly but ultimately were glad to hear the final whistle.
Kilmarnock kicked off but after only 20 seconds Celtic had a great chance as Kuhn was sent clear through the middle. A slightly heavy touch resulted in a clash with Robbie McCrorie which saw the Kilmarnock keeper having to be replaced after a lengthy stoppage. Absolutely no blame on Kuhn’s part but a nasty collision all the same.
The frantic start continued and in the 7th minute Kilmarnock won a free kick on the edge of Celtic’s box. Murray’s excellent free kick was met with a fingertip save by Kasper onto the bar. The rebound came crashing back and Celtic broke quickly, Kuhn playing in Maeda and Daisen should have done better than just hit straight at O’Hara, Kilmarnock’s replacement keeper.
But a few minutes later and the breakthrough came. Captain Calum – who had started very well – engineered some space and drove towards the Kilmarnock box. McGregor composed himself and then fired a fine left foot shot low into the keeper’s left hand corner to give Celtic a well deserved lead.
The next half hour saw several good chances fall to Kyogo, Hatate and Kuhn but in first half stoppage time it was Kilmarnock who got the next goal. Johnston could perhaps have done better to stop the delivery into the box but nevertheless we went into the break all square.
An unwelcome feature of the first half (which continued after the break) was some very uncharacteristic poor distributions from Schmeichel. Fortunately, none of these were punished but it was very unlike our best ever goalkeeper.
Around the hour mark I had the feeling that Celtic were beginning to turn the screw, fighting more for possession and increasing the pressure around the Killie box. And in the 69th minute Celtic regained the lead. Good work from Kuhn coming inside from the right and then feeding a fine pass to Maeda who, this time, made no mistake. And just 2 minutes later we nearly socred again. Twice! Kuhn’s fine strike rebounded off the bar out of the area to Hatate who fired a fine strike on the half volley which O’Hara tipped round the post.
Kilmarnock remained threatening but in the 87th minute were caught on the break with Idah rampaging from the edge of our own box. Celtic were 4 on 1 on this breakaway and when Idah fed Kuhn, a goal looked certain. However the Kille goalkeeper deflected Nicolas’s effort behind and was promptly awarded a goal kick for his efforts!
3 minutes later, Maeda had the ball in the net but was correctly flagged for offside.
In the end a 2-1 victory and a bit more positive from Celtic which will hopefully increase the confidence going into our next game.
We have now played 34 games this season, winning 25, drawing 7 and losing 2. We have scored 93 and conceded 28 (domestically it’s 83-18 and in Europe it’s 10-10). Thank you so much to the 78 who voted this time around. The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.

Good morning, friends and welcome to European Qualification week. Well for some, anyway.
Thanks for copying over the ole POTY results, Mahe. I subsequently clarified that in the cumulative points to date table, Kyogo is on 24 and the reference to 19 is a mistake. We dont have 2 Kyogos unfortunately.
As for the Scottish Cup, the tie of the round is at 8pm tonight, Dundee v Dundee United on Premier Sports 1. Too close to call but I hope The Arabs progress. And the fifth round draw is after the completion of that game.
As for tonight’s cup tie, I genuinely believe Dundee to be the better equipped team to go all the way. I hope they win.

Great article, and quite right to highlight the current live story we are all on, regarding our club.
And these next 2 weeks will determine just how far we are, within the current story that Rodgers is contributing to our overall book.
First up, is our CL campaign on Wednesday.
This had to be an aim this season, with getting back to being regarded as a top 24 team within CL, instead of staying in the also ran category.
Wouldn’t go as far as to say that Wednesday, “Is a huge step for mankind” but would regard it as a huge step, of getting out of the muck we have been stuck in regarding, CL football for way too long.
We may have 2 bites available to succeed, but much rather just taking the one bite on Wednesday, and see what develops after that, as my preference.
Second up, is going to involve our potential future, with how the next 2 transfer windows are handled?
Still believe that the result on Wednesday, will go a long way in determining what course this window, could well take for ourselves.
We are still in the quite unusual position of having a strong core group within our squad, that has been in existence for over 3 years now, still with 7 players in place.
Calmac, CCV, Taylor, Hatate, kyogo, Maeda and forrest.
That still remains in existence, could be considered as a Ange team still, but is also coming to an end also.
So teams have to be formed to get to the top table of CL football, but maintaining that, is where we have to be aiming to stay.
So there is going to be a restructure of the overall squad required, which won’t be completed in January for sure.
Our squad will potentially remain structured around the 25man CL squad still, but only 3 changes can be applied during this month?
Thought that process would be straightforward enough, but possibly not as easy as I first thought.
At present we have a space available with Welsh loaned out.
Yet before our next CL squad is named for next season, I would be expecting that,
Taylor, Rocki, valle, Hatate, kyogo, Palma and yang won’t be in it, and that’s without knowing if Welsh, Bain and Monty will remain within it.
So could be regarded as our club still remains in the transition phase of change between Ange and Rodgers still, without taking that much notice of the changes required to happening.
So potentially where we actually are at present, could be considered as a fear of the unknown over the next few weeks, with keeping the Scottish dominance intact?
Change takes time to happen, and looking forward to seeing what them changes will bring to ourselves all the same imo?
In vino veritas?

So, I’ve been having a look at this weeks Champions League fixtures and trying to work out the likely outcome of each of the games. Celtic are currently in 21st place. After Tuesday night’s ties are completed, I predict we will have slipped but only to 22nd. The 2 early ties on Wednesday won’t change Celtic’s position.
If Celtic lose at home to Young Boys it would be an extremely disappointing result and leave our progress in jeopardy. If we draw, we would go into the final round of games in, I think, 20th place. If we win, I expect us to be sitting in 17th place and almost certainly through to the play off round.
The obvious disclaimer here is that the first 6 rounds of fixtures have thrown up some unexpected results (and I include Celtic’s draw in Atalanta in that). So, ultimately it’s yet another case of….. we’ll see…

I can’t believe we got a penny back for him. One born every minute,eh?
Good afternoon all,
Big match Wednesday 👍
Lets be honest, this is exactly the kind of match you want involved in.
Champions League, under the lights, with a full house shouting.
A huge incentive, if we win !!!!!
Bring it on !!!!!!!
Hope everyone gets behind the Team and the players respond.

I’m just perusing your POTY stats. It’s quite interesting that Bernardo is sitting third, level with Engels on 41 and ahead of both Hatate and Calmac with 38, having played much fewer minutes.
It’s also interesting to note that McCowan has picked up 23 points with so few appearances.
Another wee curiosity is that Valle is level with Taylor on 19 with much less game time.
Someone should be sliding this data under BRs gaze.
PS I for one would greatly appreciate if you could keep the list of our scorers updated each game along with the scores on the doors.
It’s very difficult to source EVEN on the official Celtic site!
ATOB from yesterday…why the support don’t join in the songs sung by the Green Brigade isn’t simply due to the choice of songs, I don’t think. I feel that generally, and I count myself as guilty in this, is that we are too used to winning now and are complacent about it. It can be seen this season, particularly, as we’re getting pretty upset when teams are now competing against us and making things less comfortable. For too many years now the seated at a game situation has quietened many clubs’ supports – a reason why the Ultras of any club are vital to producing noise and atmosphere!
Pitymevin comments yesterday resonated with me on a couple of levels. The Green Brigade are vilified, I truly don’t get the reasons why (although the issue of flares does piss me off. Although it could be easily argued security on entry should/could be better!)
The Rhebs are a part, an intrinsic part, of our history. Should we give up any part of our history? Their is also a real revivalist movement, not just in Glasgow, of Irish bars playing live Irish traditional and Republican music. There are more and more popping up all over the toon. Have you ever seen the queue to get into Grace’s on matchday, Derby Day, Cup Final Day – it literally goes round the block. Have you ever gone in om a Saturday night after a game, it’s rammed and there’s invariably ‘traditional’ Irish tunes being performed live! This has fed the demand to hear it and promote it and the young team are now living this revival.
Is it right or wrong? I don’t think it’s for any on here to judge. As someone else posted last night…if you don’t like the songs that are being sung start your own! That’s not directed at you btw, that’s for everyone who feels the need to criticise the Green Brigade and The Bhoys for their current choices!
McCaff,
Dont mention Graces’s to either Iniquitous or Frodshambhoy !!!!!!!

A kind of distraction, but I’ll leave it as that 😁
I was congratulating the singer on the Rhebs but they were otherwise engaged.
It was like a blooming Marty Feldman Convention.
Roll on Wednesday and might actually be in Grace’s pre match as we’re in Glasgow for a wee afternoon sesh 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Its good times and the Supporters should know it 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

The problem that ATHINGOFBEAUTY and many others have is not with them “singing the Rebs”,which as you correctly point out are an intrinsic part of our heritage and our identity. And a huge part of a good night out in an increasing number of venues in Glasgow and elsewhere. I think she has repeatedly said as much,in fact.
It is much more to do with a simple fact-that too much of their repertoire has eff all to do with the rebs, our heritage or our tradition. And if you don’t know which songs she is talking about,I suggest that you haven’t been paying attention.
LEGGY
“Their eyes nearly popped out their head”
That’s nothing. You should have seen my Uncle Jim when SOLKITTS and I took him to what had been The Devil’s Elbow at Queen Street Station about forty years ago.
Clue-it had changed name to Wenches Bar!
McCaff,
I think there is a school of thought that I am against the GB. That’s is not true. I am saying that they need to broaden the song book a bit as it is clear to me that there are too many songs mentioning the IRA and supporters are reluctant to join in. I’ll use myself as an example. In the job I do, I would have a lot of explaining to do if I was caught on camera shouting up the RA. Now you and I and everyone on here knows that’s not a sectarian remark and there would be nothing my employers could do about it but it’s not worth the risk is how I view it and I think so do others. I can say for certain that is true of the majority of people in my section. That is clearly repeated around the stadium or the GB would not be complaining that the support are not being vocal enough. If they are not willing to change their repertoire and see if more people will join in then the atmosphere will continue to go downhill. You speak about the explosion of the Rebs and Irish music in general in the city centre. I know, I’ve been but how many of the young team you speak of have or can afford a season ticket? Not many would be my guess going by the demographic I see. The core support at the ground has changed in the last 25 years and there are too many old sensible people attending!! We might not like or want to think of it that way but it’s how it is.
Bobby…I’m not sure I get the tone of your reply! Maybe I have missed something, or maybe the revivalist experience I described, with lesser known, less Celtic-traditional rebs, whatever that looks like, has found it’s way onto the stands at Parkheid. I’m sure almost everyone on here has or had a copy of The Holy Ground of Glasgow Celtic with Sean South,The Soldier’s Song, We’re All of to Dublin. All sung for years with nary a criticism but rebel songs nonetheless. What’s so wrong about today’s young guys bringing their own brand of support to the games? My thoughts are that this issue is generational and nothing more. They bring the colour, they bring the noise, I’m all for it! Either way, who among us has the right to say they can’t sing them!
Cheers ATOB. I wouldn’t have accused you of being against the GB but I’m at a loss to really see what the problem is! If it’s the lack of atmosphere then the Bhoys and the Green Brigade are the only ones bringing it! I do think they’re a bit obstinate in their approach but they probably think they support Celtic better than you and me! But they’re just young so I’ll let them off with that!
As you said the demographic has changed – and there’s more wummin and girls at the game than ever before, a great thing in my opinion, but another change has been the creation of the standing section, to facilitate exactly what we’re now arguing about, and the Bhoys’ section in the opposite corner which has grouped all the Ultras either at one corner or the other. So, effectively we’ve created this issue. The GB have been asking for the Celtic End to be returned to standing/rail seating. Perhaps that would create a much larger body of fans prepared to be more vocal and more fitba orientated? Who knows but it seems that the division of opinion is here for the meantime!
Just for clarity, where is your ST, I’m 404 Upper and don’t seem to be as annoyed as some on here, mibbe I’m removed from it due to not being able to see them with stretching out for a look!

Hi LEGGY:
A very tactful and diplomatic post. Not like you, I may add.🤣
Grace’s was probably the twin highlights of my entire trip.😅
I’ve managed to get one eye popped back in, still struggling a bit with the other. Just hope I don’t have them mixed up.
Hope you and FRODSHAMSBHOY are in the pink.
Btw, I can’t raise today’s Dundee derby on any channel over here, so will be relying on this site for the ensuing Cup draw.

Hi McCaff:
If I can respectfully butt in to your interesting discussion with ATOB – I’m with ATOB on this one. If the GB tried adjusting their songbook to exclude specific songs with explicit references to the IRA, I think they may get more of the crowd to join in. I think it’s worth a shot.
A few days ago, I suggested that they definitely exclude such references if they plan to go to Birmingham next week. That would be inflammatory and probably result in a PR disaster for Celtic.

You’re actually in the same bit as my brother, he’s row Y. Great view of the game although it’s under ‘restricted view’ because you can’t see all of the corner flag!
As for the GB I’m in the standing area right behind them. They now have four bhoys with tannoys, unfortunately they don’t realise that they don’t need to shout using it🙃
Leggy…I’m Row R, in line with the pillars. That’s also regarded as restricted but we have no obstructions at all, and as we’re inline with the pillars we’ve got a bit extra legroom! And yes, brilliant view of the game, you clearly see the whole game – cannot get my heid roon why some people don’t listen to my take on the games!! 😉😁
IQ4…happy for you to join in, all opinions are valid! I don’t think the add-ons are more prevalent or regular nor any more or less offensive than they were when I started going in the 80s! That’s why I think this is a generational thing, the oul’ feckers moaning about the young feckers!!
MCCaff,
North stand 106 row CC. I’ve been there 10 plus years since we had to move to accommodate the GB. Now despite that I have nothing against them. When they started they did bring atmosphere. Now as you say, the other support have got lazy but also as I say their repertoire is not to the majorities taste or they wouldn’t have to complain and request people to clap along if they don’t want to sing what they are singing.
In regard to bmcuwp, I think he’s referring to the rebirth of roamin in the gloamin. That is the perfect example of tone deaf from the young team. It has absolutely nothing to do with and is in fact the antithesis of our heritage.
ATOB…as I was replying to IQ4 about being there in the 80s the song that came into my head, one that I never knew until I went Parkheid, was Roamin in the Gloamin! So, we’ve been singing that for as long as I can remember and who knows how long before it. I agree, it’s not relevant today.
Im along with ATOB also. My seat is in 122 area . The Bhoys song repetoire ranges from songs about dead footballers of our rivals through hampden in the sun to all kinds of songs that mention IRA to songs of hatred including protestants police and anyone they can think of. Songs are one thing – those fukn drums are another. Do my head in. This group has been moved 3 times before and have ended up at the back of 122 due to there being less ST holders to relocate. They have trashed the area with their stickers and spray paint all over the area and toilets. Someone explain to me how defacing the area is a benefit to any visitor to the ground. There is several hundred in the area where 150 seats were allocated to them as told to me by JP the slo. Does the club care. Not a bit believe me.
Brendan was criticised for talking out and people assumed it was the GB he referred to. It was the Bhoys who initiated all of it not the GB for once. I mentioned it on here at the zime.
ATOB…is it possible that you now are waiting for them to offend? Honest question with no ulterior motive! 🙏
Auldybhoy…I’ll defer to Bobby’s earlier comment mibbe I’ve not been paying attention!
Dead footballers, I’ve not heard that! The polis, nope not that either. The drums, I’m okay with as I’m far enough away for it not to bother me! You and ATOB will be close enough to clearly hear the guys with the bullhorn, it’s only a tinny echo from where I sit.
McCaff,
Cmon, you’ve known me a long time through this blog and we’ve exchanged tickets in the past. I have no desire for their to be discourse in any of our support. I am only putting forward what I think is the viewpoint of the majority of season ticket holders. Now I might be wrong (first time for everything) but because I have been brave enough to disagree with their narrative I’m being painted on here as some kind of fun police that wants to stop young folk enjoying themselves or worse, someone who wants to deny the clubs heritage. Makes you wonder why people don’t actually want to touch this subject. I was going to say I will
not make the same mistake again but that’s not in my nature.
Happy 30th Birthday to Kyogo

Bobby,
Devils elbow/Wenches !!!!!!!!
Now you’re talking.
Left there 1980 to go to Madrid for my first European game.
37 hours on a bus with no toilet !!!!!!
That’s another story 😁😁😁😁😁
Jobo,
Hope those ironing duties and spreadsheet completion weren’t affected in 2017😁😁😁😁😁
Thank you jobo. I knew you had a list of songs from that game and thought about them this morning. They are the perfect example of how far the shift has been in our song book in the last 10 years. There are still rebel songs in there, but they are not the dominant genre. I was at that game taking a young guy i worked with to his first Celtic game. I had no need to teach him the words of any of the rebel songs I can tell you. That was a cracking day.
ATOB…yip, we’ve met (if only too briefly) but you know from here I have the highest respect for you (and your bro) but it was a genuine question because I’m the type that can hold a grudge and it would suit me to wait for them to do something to annoy me, just so that I can be annoyed and back up my own narrative!
It wasn’t meant as a slight on you, not at all!
I haven’t painted you as the fun police, my point is there is a difference of opinion between elements of the GB and The Bhoys and a wider section of the support. I wouldn’t go so far as to say the majority as there’s never really any grumblings heard in 404 or around that area. It’s why I asked where you sat as we’re definitely removed from any kind of obvious rancor!
How did we manage a split screen there with posts from BMCUWP and JOBO on the left and LEGGY on the right? Haven’t seen that feature before. AWSGL magic?
JOBO – that’s an incredible post! Hat doffed!

Iniquitous IV😊
Why is Infantino at the Trump gig?
What a brilliant list, Jobo!
Yeah, those were great days, the Huns had just come up with all sorts of intentions, Brendan was here and creating history. No wonder we were excited!
Now look at us…still winning but more whining!
Where’s our happiness at winning gone?
Jobo Baldie
Talking of the other channel.
The leader today from Lawwells poodle is embarrassing.
According to him the Scottish Cup is more important than the CL.
That is obviously a reflection of what the board think.

Full house at Celtic Park on Wed night, with a significant away support the South East Corner thoroughfare will be closed to Celtic fans from 6pm onwards, please use Dalriada ST as an alternative and approach the stadium from the side your ticket is for where possible🍀

There’s a current song that mentions Davie Cooper, Walter Smith and Jimmy Bell that is as disgusting as anything sung by the hordes at Ibrox. It’s sung at every game and by both the GB and the Bhoys and mirrors the sickening song the huns sing about Tommy Burns.
All I’ll say is that I used to be a big fan of the GB for the colour and noise that they brought to the stadium but I haven’t felt like that for about a year now.
And the less said about their rampage through Argylle St with their hun equivalents over the festive period, causing families to cower in shop doorways, the better!
They’ve gone from bringing fame to bringing shame on our support and our club. They’ve gone from organising food banks and donations for Gaza to terrorising their own City Centre.
The pyro at Dundee, yet another late KO was the last straw for me. After the 15 minute delay at the LC semi final with Aberdeen and the comments from BR about the detrimental effects on players warm up I’d say one more strike and they’re out!
We shouldn’t be having to cross our fingers and hope that they don’t embarrass us next Wednesday in Birmingham – but here we are.
🙄
ATOB, you have every right to voice your concerns, in the same way people have a right to counter your views. But not for one second would I think you have something against the GB, or the Bhoys.
Not everyone will agree all the time. So a suggestion might be that if the rest of the stadium joins into the song that they wish to be sung more often, maybe the ultras might just sing them more often. So this is a cracking discussion to have on here.
The people with the bullhorns want to be the centre of attention, and if they get it right, and the whole stadium joins in, they will sing those songs more often.
As I said in a previous post, the stadium was flat the last time I went, and even when the GB started the COYBIG, it fell flat on its arse.
I will say that the narrative has been created around the young team with help from the board and this has been lapped up by our compliant press, the same way that every decision that celtic gets is wrong, and every decision against Rangers is wrong.
We have lived with this all our life, and maybe the songs have changed because of the lack of engagement with the rest of the stadium, so they just sing to themselves.
Just another theory and i could be wrong.
Rumour KT at the stadium
Billy Bhoy…all fair comment, mate!
I genuinely don’t know that song but guaranteed I feel the same as you – its repulsive, offensive, unwarranted and unwelcome.
The shit in the streets, agreed, totally offensive behaviour but mirrors society to a greater extent at the moment – ffs the Yanks have just reelected a thug for president!
The pyros, I agree again but the clubs need to step up here and ensure the proper security is in place to either stop them getting flares in or remove and arrest offenders, neither of which seems to happen. Jeez, there’s more chance of me getting a bottle of water taken of me than a pyro!
A guy took no well at the Aberdeen semi, almost collapsed on the stairs and two guys rushed to his aid. They had a hold of him but they were on the stairs above him and he was threatening to fall down pulling them with him! I jumped out of my seat, supported the guy to stop him falling back and shouted at the stewards, only a few steps away from me to get help. The blank expressions I got back just tipyfied who is employed to work the crowd. No training, no care, no awareness, in a lot of cases only a minimum grasp of English (not racist, btw, just a cheap generalisation). These are the guys responsible for stadium safety and security but in reality they’re the cheapest labour available. Sort the security and you’ll sort the pyros.
