Fell to pieces
There was no game at Parkhead on Saturday. It was the correct decision, no problem. After all, pieces of the stadium fell, but I’ve questions about the affair because it looks like the contingency planning fell to pieces.
Before I go any further I’ll point out I’m far from an expert and I haven’t read up on the actual footballing rules regarding a naturally damaged stadium, but Health and Safety can get a match shutdown, the ultimate decision rests with them and not the football authorities.
Yet, the police have had the authority to tell football you’re not playing that particular game at that time of day. The ultimate reason is for safety but it’s a police call.
That’s two departments that have the authority to cancel games or dictate affairs.
One of them did cancel the game, but very late in the day, leaving many out of pocket.
Why it took both so late is one question, the other question, why is there a decision to make at all,,under a severe storm alert mass gatherings of any kind should be canceled by mandate.
I see it all the time, the legalities of being responsible aside, really bad weather coming, event canceled and hunker down folks is a regular occurrence publicized days in advance.
As people we are all entering a new phase of weather, and we all know why. This wasn’t a one-off, it’s a sign of things to come.
I can’t blame Celtic,,if anything only minor damage is the sign of a decently built stadium plus they couldn’t/wouldn’t ask workmen to leave their homes/loved ones on the Friday.
While football was a victim, it could also be a leader. Grant clubs the authority to cancel games if the stadium is in the path of a category 1 upwards? If natural stadium damage occurred in the previous 48 hours?
Of course Gov could make that decision moot by saying everything’s canceled until after.
I don’t think anyone is really ready for the new normal,,hence roofs being blown off, walls collapsing alongside decision making efficiency, legislation found lacking and the host club itself powerless to take decisive steps.
So if there’s any positives to take its not that we didn’t drop two points but dropped two roof panels instead, it’s that the oversight/emergency planning mechanisms for events during severe weather must be looked at, must be modified and streamlined, because of the risk and spend left hanging by on the day call-offs. Being reactive rather than proactive just left fans out of pocket with nothing to show for it, they deserve better.
The eventful non-event capped off one hell of a week, I’ve got a feeling by next Monday Celtic will have a new face in the dressing room, no info just a hunch, and call me naive but I’m loving the fact we can hit Birmingham and both teams play without actually needing a win, but rather just play for pride. Call me a romantic but such occasions can and have brought out the best in Celtic.

Sol Kitts,
The very chappie, our wee Portuguese Moses of War will have him out in short order! lol
Forgive the link to The Herald but they are quoting French outlet Ouest saying that the actual price for Jota was 8M euros so 6.7M sterling…

Wife read a report to me earlier that Musk wants to rename the English Channel. That guy has issues. Too much money and lacks something. God only knows what is in his brain at times.
Remember, every Celtic move has to be countered by at least one Sevco fantasy.

yes, I had read that as well. George Washington is his preferred name, although I’m not sure what GW has to do with Britian or France. But crazy stuff like this doens’t worry as much as his clear flirtation with fascism.
Ben Chillwell who they paid £45million for can’t get a game at Chelsea, but the huns think Jefte is the answer……….. ahh bless the poor wee souls

Trump’s stuff is usually easier to figure out … there is no doubt that he is suffering from some measure of dementia, but often to make sense of his seeming incoherent ramblings …just follow the money. For example, his recent comment supporting ethnic cleansing in Gaza …taken in isolation, seems crazy…. but, a year ago, his son in law talked about the value of the property there, and its development potential … if they could only get the Palestinians off the land.

UPDATE: Celtic are expected to approach Arsenal to discuss the conditions of a possible loan deal for Kieran Tierney.
Arsenal have a decision to make with Zinchenko also attracting interest, but emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly could allow for both to leave.

I put the post below on the blog earlier today. If Celtic are only approaching Arsenal now to discuss a loan deal, someone needs their baws booted.

According to Arsenal fan blog sites, Jakob Kiwior is tired of his limited game time at left back or center back, and is pushing to return to Serie A in January. Arteta has turned it down. His reasons are that Zinchenko may be sold in the next week, Lewis-Skelly is facing a three game ban, unless his red card is overturned, and Calafiori has missed recent games through injury.
Seems to me that Arteta, given these circumstances, is highly unlikely to sanction an immediate loan for KT.
So it is a likely bye bye to upgrading at left back for the rest of the season.
Auldbhoy67- watch Trump try to change the constitution, so non American nationals can become President, he’s not attached himself to the gangster, to play second fiddle
Bada
more likely that Trump will try to stay in power and, if that doesnt work, have his son succeed him….
Rep. Andy Ogles (probably the most appropriate name for a Republican politician, unless and until someone named redneck or ass grabber is elected) has already started the process of trying to amend the Constitution to allow Trump to stay for a third term. Given that it would require some measure of Democratic support, this seems unlikely. However, a year ago, it would have seemed impossible.
But when even large corporations are bending to their will (Meta, Walmart , McDonald’s, Lowe’s, Ford, Target, and John Deere ar just a few of the companies who have caved to right wing led threatened boycotts by reversing DEI programs. Apple and Costco are a few of the exceptions who have refused to pander to bigotry ….
MIKE IN TORONTO
Hi Mike:
Lindsey Graham, the groveling two faced South Carolina Senator, has long supported a Constitutional Amendment that would not guarantee citizenship to anyone born in the U.S.
He days it’s a “Low bar” and that he is confident the Supreme Court will support such an amendment.
You know what? That body is so corrupt, it would not surprise me,
It takes months to make football deals I’m told, especially when every penny is a prisoner.
Inq
The American Supreme Court is now a joke. What is scary/sad is that at least 6 of the 9 (possibly 7… Gorsuch is unclear) are Catholics!

As far as the birth citizenship thing, it really should be impossible to change. Remember, when the US constitution was written, slavery was still permitted. And even a century later, there was the infamous Dredd Scott decision which held that slaves and even former slaves were not citizens. The Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the 14th amendment were specifically introduced to deal with this issue. Then you had an influx of Chinese labourers, and the question was finally determined by the Supreme Court in the 1898 in Wong Kim Ark, where it held that the protections applied to all who were born in the US. That should be the end of it.
But, in these days, when Trump simply avoids the rule of law by calling anything he disagrees with an emergency, and his whims are backed up by a Supreme Court, nothing is out of the question..

Good decision. There was more action in the last 5 minutes than the previous 85 as a desperate Leeds pummeled them. Still finished scoreless.

Reminded me of the one where this guy has a kid who is into Action Man toys. His Dad buys him one of the few he doesn’t have – an Action Man GI ( General Infantry ).
The kid excitedly opens the box, only to find it empty. He looks up at his Dad, really disappointed, and says, “Dad, It’s empty”.
His Dad says, “Sorry Son, must have been an Action Man Deserter.”😂

This week actually might be the first time that Sevco as jammy (as they are) at getting shyte euro opponents.
Now play USG who have only lost once in their last fourteen games and their striker has eleven goals in his last nine games. Might actually be playing a team that could possibly hump them.

They’ll be missing two of their players, though. Walsh sent them off in their tie last week!
Aye a Sevco academy ref too, even outside Scotland the helping hand of Dallas continues.
What we’re going to miss, very badly.

Hi McCaff:
It’s a strange coincidence, that after months of doing nothing about GT, Celtic find out that despite KT being something like 4th choice left back at Arsenal, their current situation leads EBT Arteta to stall on an immediate loan move, and Voila! Greg suddenly gets offered an improved contract.
Funny that.

INI IV I’m a bit like ATOB in that once he leaves Celtic, like most, I will sorta lose interest.
However he was what we needed after Covid, and I’m glad Ange brought the Japanese Trio of Kyogo/Hatate/Maeda to us, and not when he got some other gig ie: Spurs or some other EPL club.
Kyogo gave us some very enjoyable moments, he was Iconic, I hope he can come back one day and say goodbye to the support, and get a proper send off.
I believe he deserves that much. 🇯🇵 🇮🇪 🇯🇵

I agree completely with you about Kyogo but he certainly won’t be coming over with Rennes on CL nights. Nantes’ draw yesterday pushes them into 16th of 18 and into a relegation scrap. W5 D2 L12 although bizarrely their GD is only -4! 🤔
The wee man will need to hit the ground running!

Hi Billy:
Three of their next 4 games are at home – Strasbourg, Lille and Reims, with one away at Saint-Etienne. Lille will be a struggle, but I think the other 3 are winnable, and I think that, absent injury, the wee man will be sensational. I think they will stay up.
