Back to the grind

I’ve several feelings going into tonight’s clash,,
An anger at the transfer window shambles,
A desire to be entertained putting footballing action above boardroom discussions,
A wish for one or two of our stars to grab the occasion and sparkle.

It’s natural to look at games in blocks, this mini block offers two home ties against much lower opposition, almost as if the footballing God’s conjured up easy tests before the hardest of all come game 3. It’s good timing for Jota and Schlupp,,,the later needs two impressive performances to start the next, the former needs to get back perfecting playing on the left wing for two games before the glamour tie of Bayern.

It’s good timing for Brendan who can now focus solely on the football, he surely must think about resting Callum in one of these next two.
I like to imagine Adam will enjoy a couple of lesser matches to try and boost his tally and confidence.
The board will be seeking a Jota pose, Engels stormer, or Reo to wave the magic wand, in order to get the support looking ahead and not scrutinizing the past.

It’s almost inevitable the next 180 minutes shall bear witness to it, his trademarked Statue of Posery was the source of worldwide eruption elsewhere,,it’s unveiling at home shall bring the proverbial roof down and bring many a tear. The Unrepentant Fist is now an instant classic in the lexicon of immortal Celtic images. I do worry a little about the burden to be placed on those Portuguese shoulders come game3, in reality our German winger should really be out to show his countrymen their talent is farflung and not just residing in the Bundesliga.
As for Reo, given him 60 tonight and ten on Saturday, keep him fresh and ready for his last great defining European battle at Parkhead.
Tony the Tiger started on Sunday, he can start against Raith Rovers too please, for I want AJ at his op-TIM-um come next Wednesday, so play tonight then rest at the weekend?

Could I envision a left flank of Schlupp/Jota versus Bayern? I would say Schlupp is two good performances away from stopping Brendan falling back on Greg,,but he hasn’t been playing which suggests being slowly introduced. There’s exceptions, he might be in excellent condition raring to go, and being of Ghanaian genes that wouldn’t surprise me.
If Greg starts tonight I think he starts in the knockouts.
If Jeffrey starts he shouldn’t aim for just a safe debut but rather an eye catching one.

The biggest window is not the transfer window, rather the window of opportunity playing for Celtic provides,,whether that’s for pride, adulation, or for our entertainment .
The signing window has closed, the others shall remain eternally open.

Agree play like that against Bayern could give us a chance. Great team effort. Jota gives us a lot more depth. Maeda, Kuhn and Jota attacking can trouble any defence. It’s our defence that is the worry.

Can see problems fitting Maeda, Khun and Jota in.
Unless Maeda plays through the middle I can see them all playing together. Who do you leave out?

I think it’s Jota on the left personally,,he and KT have better technique than Taylor and Maeda, will hold the ball better in Europe. Daizen second choice striker, and if he wants the World Cup that bad that might force him out the door.
I want him to stay and be the dogs body but,,,

Excellent point. Plus almost as much for Bernabei. This time last year, most of us would have got them off the wage bill on a freebie.

How does one countenance expectations when we have PLC plants on here right now telling us that Brendan is shit and that the squad talent deficiency is his fault. I mean I have worked 40+ years successfully in Industry and the service sector and made a fortune for many investors and I have never seen such retarded stupidity.
I know for a fact that the Celtic future is fucked unless the supporters do something that doesnt just appease hunnery.
Bobby you dont know what youre talking about. Sorry.

Didn’t see the game but just watched it back. Football in the first part of second half was the best we have seen this season. And just read the blog back.

Some random thoughts: Jota is a very creative threat, and can only get better. When Engels popped one in from 25 yards, BMCUWP thought it was just for me,😅 but seriously, why don’t we do it more often? Hatate, AJ, Callum, even GT had opportunities to take a pop from around 18, but all elected to pass. Engels has it in his locker – let’s see him keep doing it!

Kuhn masterfully chipped in from the corner of the box. We have all seen Salah do this dozens of times for Chelsea, Fiorentina, Liverpool and Egypt. Kuhn has the talent to do this with ease. Let’s see it more often.

Maeda is a gutsy wee player, not afraid to put his head in where it could hurt. Both of his goals were superb, with the second a culmination of an end to end sweeping move and a finish reminiscent of Kyogo in his pomp. Goal of the season.

A wee bit puzzled why Kuhn looked so serious after he scored, but he was laughing away after the game, so no worries. Brendan’s subs were all appropriate and well timed.

A lot of us mourned the fact we did not sign John McGinn, but at least we now have a player with approximately the same sized rear end.😂. Schluup fitted in seamlessly, and it was strange to see a winning header from the left back position!🤣. I wondered how this lad would do as a central midfielder sitting in front of our center backs if we are in an Alamo position at the Allianz?

Finally, Kaspar is a wage thief. Lollygagged around doing nothing all night.😅

A rainy day buffer of one hundred million quid ! That’s not a rainy day, that’s a monsoon that lasts a month.
=/=
The term rainy day buffer refers ONLY to the sum Celtic set aside as contingency against CL failure NOT the total cash in the bank.

Just Saying who talks to the total accepts that rainy day (my term) applies only to the CL contingency .
There is a clear difference if you follow the discussion where I pointed out that PL referred to the CL contingency (which makes sense) at last AGM.

Sorry to correct but before we know it the conflation will become treated as fact.

Maybe if you want to read stuff from board plants, you’ll have more luck on certain other sites. It might make you understand and appreciate better the general level of anger, dissatisfaction and dissent from the vast majority on here.
